Decoupling Solution Moduli of Bigravity

A complete classification of exact solutions of ghost-free, massive bigravity is derived which enables the dynamical decoupling of the background, and the foreground metrics. The general decoupling solution space of the two metrics is constructed. Within this branch of the solution space the foreground metric theory becomes general relativity (GR) with an additional effective cosmological constant, and the background metric dynamics is governed by plain GR.

Cosmological Solution Moduli of Bigravity

We construct the complete set of metric-configuration solutions of the ghost-free massive bigravity for the scenario in which the g-metric is the Friedmann-Lemaitre-Robertson-Walker (FLRW) one, and the interaction Lagrangian between the two metrics contributes an effective ideal fluid energy-momentum tensor to the g-metric equations. This set corresponds to the exact background cosmological solution space of the theory.

Generalised matter couplings in massive bigravity

We investigate matter couplings in massive bigravity. We find a new family of such consistent couplings, including and extending known consistent matter couplings, and we investigate their decoupling limits, ADM decompositions, Higuchi bounds and further aspects. We show that differences to previous known consistent couplings only arise beyond the $Λ_3$ decoupling limit and discuss the uniqueness of consistent matter couplings and how this is related to the so-called symmetric vielbein condition. Since we work in a vielbein formulation, these results easily generalise to multi-gravity.

On the uniqueness of the non-minimal matter coupling in massive gravity and bigravity

In de Rham-Gabadadze-Tolley (dRGT) massive gravity and bigravity, a non-minimal matter coupling involving both metrics generically re-introduces the Boulware--Deser (BD) ghost. A non-minimal matter coupling via a simple, yet specific composite metric has been proposed, which eliminates the BD ghost below the strong coupling scale. Cosmological Stability Bound in Massive Gravity and Bigravity

We give a simple derivation of a cosmological bound on the graviton mass for spatially flat FRW solutions in massive gravity with an FRW reference metric and for bigravity theories. This bound comes from the requirement that the kinetic term of the helicity zero mode of the graviton is positive definite. The bound is dependent only on the parameters in the massive gravity potential and the Hubble expansion rate for the two metrics. The Hot Attractor Mechanism: Decoupling Without Deep Throats

Consistent Decoupling of Heavy Scalars and Moduli in N=1 Supergravity

We consider the conditions for integrating out heavy chiral fields and moduli in N=1 supergravity, subject to two explicit requirements. Stability of flux compactifications and the pattern of supersymmetry breaking

We extend the KKLT approach to moduli stabilization by including the dilaton and the complex structure moduli into the effective supergravity theory. Decoupling of the dilaton is neither always possible nor necessary for the existence of stable minima with zero (or positive) cosmological constant. Boundaries and Defects of N=4 SYM with 4 Supercharges, Part II: Brane Constructions and 3d N=2 Field Theories

We study the vacuum moduli spaces of 3d N=2 supersymmetric quantum field theories by applying the formalism developed in our previous paper arXiv:1404.5527. The 3d theories can be realized by branes in type IIB string theory, which in a decoupling limit reduce to 4d N=4 super-Yang-Mills theory on an interval with BPS defects inserted. Superconformal Multi-Black Hole Quantum Mechanics

The quantum mechanics of N slowly-moving charged BPS black holes in five-dimensional ${\cal N}=1$ supergravity is considered. The moduli space metric of the N black holes is derived and shown to admit 4 supersymmetries. A near-horizon limit is found in which the dynamics of widely separated black holes decouples from that of strongly-interacting, near-coincident black holes. Stringy Fuzziness as the Custodian of Time-Space Noncommutativity

We study aspects of obtaining field theories with noncommuting time-space coordinates as limits of open-string theories in constant electric-field backgrounds. We find that, within the standard closed-string backgrounds, there is an obstruction to decoupling the time-space noncommutativity scale from that of the string fuzziness scale. We speculate that this censorship may be string-theory's way of protecting the causality and unitarity structure. Rigid Holography and Six-Dimensional N=(2,0) Theories on AdS_5 times S^1

Field theories on anti-de Sitter (AdS) space can be studied by realizing them as low-energy limits of AdS vacua of string/M theory.
