Generalized Vorob'ev-Yablonski polynomials have been introduced by Clarkson and Mansfield in their study of rational solutions of the second Painlevé hierarchy. We present new Hankel determinant identities for the squares of these special polynomials in terms of Schur polynomials. As an application of the identities, we analyze the roots of generalized Vorob'ev-Yablonski polynomials and provide formulæ\, for the boundary curves of the highly regular patterns observed numerically in \cite{CM}.

We consider a Hankel determinant formula for generic solutions of the Painlevé IV equation. We show that the generating functions for the entries of the Hankel determinants are related to the asymptotic solution at infinity of the isomonodromic problem. Summability of these generating functions are also discussed.
Many discrete integrable systems exhibit the Laurent phenomenon. In this paper, we investigate three integrable systems: the Somos-4 recurrence, the Somos-5 recurrence and a system related to so-called $A_1$ $Q$-system, whose general solutions are derived in terms of Hankel determinant. As a result, we directly confirm that they satisfy the Laurent property. Additionally, it is shown that the Somos-5 recurrence can be viewed as a specified Bäcklund transformation of the Somos-4 recurrence. The related topics about Somos polynomials are also studied.

We present a relationship between the determinant formula and the auxiliary linear problem, which is characterized by a compact formula for the $τ$ functions in the framework of the KP theory. Similar phenomena that have been observed for the Painlevé II and IV equations are recovered. The case of finite lattice is also discussed.

We show that the generating functions for the entries of the Hankel determinants are related to the asymptotic solution at infinity of the linear problem of which the Painleve' II equation describes the isomonodromic deformations.
