It is shown that higher Bruhat orders admit a decomposition into a higher Tamari order, the corresponding dual Tamari order, and a "mixed order." We describe simplex equations (including the Yang-Baxter equation) as realizations of higher Bruhat orders. Correspondingly, a family of "polygon equations" realizes higher Tamari orders. They generalize the well-known pentagon equation. The structure of simplex and polygon equations is visualized in terms of deformations of maximal chains in posets forming 1-skeletons of polyhedra. The decomposition of higher Bruhat orders induces a reduction of the $N$-simplex equation to the $(N+1)$-gon equation, its dual, and a compatibility equation.
We consider polygon and simplex equations, of which the simplest nontrivial examples are pentagon (5-gon) and Yang--Baxter (2-simplex), respectively. We examine the general structure of (2n+1)-gon and 2n-simplex equations in direct sums of vector spaces. Then we provide a construction for their solutions, parameterized by elements of the Grassmannian Gr(n+1,2n+1).
The 4-simplex equation is a higher-dimensional analogue of Zamolodchikov's tetrahedron equation and the Yang--Baxter equation which are two of the most fundamental equations of mathematical physics. In this paper, we introduce a method for constructing 4-simplex maps, namely solutions to the set-theoretical 4-simplex equation, using Lax matrix refactorisation problems. Employing this method, we construct 4-simplex maps which at a certain limit give tetrahedron maps classified by Kashaev, Korepanov and Sergeev. Moreover, we construct a Kadomtsev--Petviashvili type of 4-simplex map. Finally, we …
The $n$-simplex equation ($n$-SE) was introduced by A. B. Zamolodchikov as a generalization of the Yang--Baxter equation, which is the $2$-simplex equation in these terms. In the present paper we suggest some general approaches to constructing solutions of $n$-simplex equations, describe some types of solutions, introduce an operation which under some conditions allows us to construct a solution of $(n+m+k)$-SE from solution of $(n+k)$-SE and $(m+k)$-SE. We consider the tropicalization of rational solutions and discuss a way to generalize it. We prove that if a group $G$ is an extension of a g…
A theory of (co)homologies related to set-theoretic $n$-simplex relations is constructed in analogy with the known quandle and Yang--Baxter (co)homologies, with emphasis made on the tetrahedron case. In particular, this permits us to generalize Hietarinta's idea of "permutation-type" solutions to the quantum (or "tensor") $n$-simplex equations. Explicit examples of solutions to the tetrahedron equation involving nontrivial cocycles are presented.
"Nonconstant cohomologies" are introduced for solutions of set-theoretical four-simplex equation (FSE). While usual cohomologies lead to solutions of constant quantum FSE, our "nonconstant cohomologies" lead to solutions of nonconstant quantum FSE. Computer calculations are presented showing that large spaces of such cohomologies exist for all Hietarinta's two-color linear solutions to set-theoretical FSE. After taking a partial trace of the corresponding quantum operators, combined with one additional trick, this leads to solutions of tetrahedron equation, including those with non-negative ma…
We notice a remarkable connection between Bazhanov-Sergeev solution of Zamolodchikov tetrahedron equation and certain well-known cluster algebra expression. The tetrahedron transformation is then identified with a sequence of four mutations. As an application of the new formalism we show how to construct integrable system with spectral curve with arbitrary symmetric Newton polygon. Finally, we embed this integrable system into double Bruhat cell of a Poisson-Lie group, show how triangular decomposition can be used to extend our approach to general non-symmetric Newton polygons, and prove Lemma…
We consider the Schrödinger equation $(i\partial_t+Δ)u=0$ on an $n$-dimensional simplex with Dirichlet boundary conditions. We use a commutator argument along with integration by parts to obtain an observability asymptotic for any one face of the simplex. Rather than the typical observability inequality, we are able to do better as we instead prove a large-time asymptotic.
Helmholtz's equations provide the motion of a system of N vortices which describes a planar incompressible fluid with zero viscosity. A relative equilibrium is a particular solution of these equations for which the distances between the vortices are invariant during the motion. In this article, we are interested in relative equilibria formed of concentric regular polygons of vortices. We show that in the case of one regular polygon (and a possible vortex at the center) with more than three vertices (two if there is a vortex at the center), a relative equilibrium requires equal vorticities (on …
We address the scaling behaviour of contour-shape-dependent ultra-violet singularities of the light-like cusped Wilson loops in Yang-Mills and ${\cal N} = 4$ super-Yang-Mills theories in the higher orders of the perturbative expansion. We give the simple arguments to support the idea that identifying of a special type of non-local infinitesimal shape variations of the light-like Wilson polygons with the Fréchet differentials results in the combined geometric and renormalization-group evolution equation, which is applicable beyond the leading order exponentiated Wilson loops.
