Recently, the {\it Belle} and {\it BABAR} Collaborations published the single-inclusive electron-positron annihilation data at the center of mass energies ($\sqrt{s}$) of $10.52$ GeV and $10.54$ GeV, respectively. These new data offer one the possibility to determine the nonperturbative initial conditions of fragmentation functions much more accurately. In our previous work \cite{Soleymaninia:2013cxa}, we extracted the fragmentation functions for $π^\pm$ and $K^\pm$ particles at next-to-leading order (NLO) including these new data, for the first time. These new data are in the regions of larger scaled-energy $z$ and lower $\sqrt{s}$. Our main purpose is to show that adding these new data in our analysis how much improve the fragmentation functions of $π^\pm$ and $K^\pm$ at NLO. We hope this analysis can obvious the effects of these recent data on FFs for whom is studying the behavior of light meson FFs. We also apply, for the first time, the extracted fragmentation functions to make our predictions for the scaled-energy distributions of $π^\pm$ and $K^\pm$ inclusively produced in polarized top quark decays at NLO.
We discuss possible constraints on R-parity violation from recently announced Belle/Babar results on the B\toτνbranching fraction, and the bounds on τ^-\to\ell^- K_S^0 (\ell=e or μ) from Babar.
Recent results by BELLE and BaBar point to the existence of a second X particle decaying in D^0 D^0bar pi^0, a few MeV above the X(3872). We identify the two X states with the neutral particles predicted by the 4-quark model and show that production and decays are consistent with this assignement. We consider the yet-to-be-observed charged partners and give new hints on how to look for them.
We remind the chiral doubling scenario [1,2] for hadrons built of heavy and light quarks. Then we recall arguments why new states D_s(2317),D_s(2460),D_0(2308) and D_1^'(2427) should be viewed as chiral partners of D_s,D_s^*,D and D^*,respectively. We summarize with the list of predictions based on chiral doubling scenario for other heavy-light hadrons.
We summarize the main features of the spectroscopy, production and decays of the $J^{PC}=1^{--}$ tetraquarks in the $b\bar{b}$ sector, concentrating on the lowest state called $Y_b(10890)$. The tetraquark framework is used to analyze the BaBar data on the $e^+ e^- \to b\bar{b}$ cross section ($R_b$ energy scan) between $\sqrt{s}= 10.54$ and 11.20 GeV and the Belle data on the processes $e^+e^- \to Υ(1S) π^+π^-,Υ(2S) π^+π^-$ near the peak of the $Υ(5S)$ resonance. The BaBar $R_b$ energy scan is consistent with an additional state at a mass of 10.90 GeV and a width of about 28 MeV, in broad agre…
A brief report of some recent experimental developments concerning the $X$, $Y$ and $Z$ charmoniumlike mesons states and other puzzling states from the BaBar, Belle, BESIII and CDF experiments is presented.
The available data on the $D\overline{D}$ and inclusive hadronic cross sections in the $ψ(3770)$ region from the BaBar, Belle, BES-II, CLEO and KEDR experiments have been analyzed assuming that systematic uncertainties on cross sections measured by different detectors are not correlated. Four theoretical models predicting the $ψ(3770)$ line shape were considered for the $D\overline{D}$ channel. All of them gave satisfactory description of the data. The combined analysis of the $D\overline{D}$ and inclusive hadronic channel was performed using the model based on the vector dominance approach an…
We confront predictions for hybrid charmonium and other gluonic excitations in the charm region with recently observed structures in the mass range above 3 GeV. The Y(4260), if resonant, is found to agree with expectations for hybrid charmonium. The possibility that other gluonic excitations may be influencing the data in this region is discussed.
We predict the rate for exclusive double-charmonium production in electron-positron annihilation $e^+ e^- \to J/ψ+η_c$ using perturbative quantum chromodynamics and the NRQCD framework for hard, heavy-quarkonium exclusive processes. The cross sections measured at the $B$-factories Belle and Babar at $\sqrt{s}=10.6$ GeV disagree with the pQCD leading-order predictions by an order of magnitude. The predictions at next-to-leading order are, however, very sensitive to the choice of the renormalization scale, resulting in an apparent discrepancy between the theoretical prediction and the data. We s…
We present a unified analysis of the decays of bottomonia Upsilon(mS) -> Upsilon(nS) pi pi (m>n, m=2,3,4,5, n=1,2,3), charmonia J/psi -> phi (pi pi, K antiK), psi(2S) -> J/psi pi pi and the isoscalar S-wave processes pi pi -> pi pi, K antiK, eta eta. In this analysis we extend our recent study of low-lying (m=2,3) radial excitations of bottomonia to modes involving higher (m=4,5) excited states. Similarly as for the data on lower radial excitations, we confirm that the data for higher radially excited states from the BaBar and Belle collaborations can be described under conditions that the fin…
The BaBar and Belle experiments have recently presented evidence for D-Dbar mixing. We explain the following points: (i) The measurements imply width difference $y \sim 0.01$. In the limit of small CP violation, the CP-odd state is longer-lived; (ii) $y\sim0.01$ is consistent with the Standard Model. It suggests that SU(3) breaking from phase space effects is likely to play a major role; (iii) There is no evidence for either large mass splitting or CP violation. Consequently, there is no hint for new physics; (iv) The stronger bounds on the mass splitting and on CP violation imply that, if squ…
We explain the main idea of the chiral doublers scenario, originating from simultaneous constraints of chiral symmetry and of heavy quark spin symmetry on effective theories of heavy-light hadrons. In particular we discuss chiral doublers for mesons, chiral doublers for excited mesons, chiral doublers for baryons and chiral doublers for excited baryons. We point out the arguments why new states D_s(2317) and D_s(2457) might be viewed as chiral doublers of D_s and D_s^*. Then we comment on non-strange mesons D_0(2308) and D_1'(2427) observed by Belle and Focus, and on Theta_c(3099) signal obser…
We present a thorough phenomenological analysis of the experimental data from Belle Collaboration for the transverse $Λ$ and $\barΛ$ polarisation, measured in $e^+e^-$ annihilation processes, for the case of inclusive (plus a jet) and associated production with a light charged hadron. This allows for the first ever extraction of the quark polarising fragmentation function for a $Λ$ hyperon, a transverse momentum dependent distribution giving the probability that an unpolarised quark fragments into a transversely polarised spin-1/2 hadron.
Experimental data from Belle Collaboration for the transverse polarization of $Λ$'s measured in $e^+ e^-$ annihilation processes are used to extract the polarizing fragmentation function (FF) within a TMD approach. We consider both associated and inclusive $Λ$ production, showing a quite consistent scenario. Good separation in flavor is obtained, leading to four independent FFs. Predictions for SIDIS processes at the EIC, crucial for understanding their universality and evolution properties, are also presented.
A new formalism for the factorization of the cross section for single hadron production in $e^+e^-$ annihilations, differential in $z_h$, $P_T$ and thrust, is applied to the phenomenological analysis of data recently measured by the BELLE Collaboration. Within this scheme the $e^+e^- \to hX$ cross section can be recast in the convolution of a perturbatively calculable coefficient and a universal transverse momentum dependent fragmentation function. While performing a next-to-leading order calculation of the perturbative part of the process to next-to-leading logarithmic accuracy, we examine an…
Data from the Belle Collaboration for associated production (with a light unpolarized hadron) and single-inclusive production of transversely polarized $Λ$-hyperons in $e^+e^-$ annihilation processes allowed to extract within a TMD approach, for the first time, the $Λ$ polarizing fragmentation function. Recent theoretical developments on the computation of cross sections for single-inclusive hadron production in $e^+e^-$ annihilation processes, within a Soft Collinear Effective Theory approach, combined with the CSS formalism for the double-hadron production case, can be used to perform a rene…
The pion-photon transition form factor (TFF) provides strong constraints on the pion distribution amplitude (DA). We perform an analysis of all existing data (CELLO, CLEO, BaBar, Belle) on the pion-photon TFF by means of light-cone pQCD approach in which we include the next-to-leading order correction to the valence-quark contribution and estimate the non-valence-quark contribution by a phenomenological model based on the TFF's limiting behavior at both $Q^2\to 0$ and $Q^2\to\infty$. At present, the pion DA is not definitely determined, it is helpful to have a pion DA model that can mimic all …
Properties of the charmonium-like state X(3872) are investigated and its nature is discussed as based on the existing experimental data. In particular, we analyse the new data from Belle and BaBar Collaborations and argue that, while the BaBar data prefer the dynamically generated virtual state in the D\bar{D}* system, the new Belle data clearly indicate a sizable c\bar{c} 2^3P_1 component in the X wave function.
A state-of-the-art analysis of the pion-photon transition form factor is presented based on an improved theoretical calculation that includes the effect of a finite virtuality of the quasi-real photon in the method of light-cone sum rules. We carry out a detailed statistical analysis of the existing experimental data using this method and by employing pion distribution amplitudes with up to three Gegenbauer coefficients $a_2, a_4, a_6$. Allowing for an error range in the coefficient $a_6\approx 0$, the theoretical predictions for $γ^*γ\toπ^0$ obtained with nonlocal QCD sum rules are found to b…
This talk summarizes the results of a phenomenological analysis of heavy quark fragmentation data published by the CLEO and BELLE collaborations at \sqrt{s} = 10.6 GeV and by the LEP collaborations at \sqrt{s} = 91.2 GeV. Several theoretical ingredients are employed: next-to-leading order initial conditions, evolution and coefficient functions; soft-gluon resummation to next-to-leading-log accuracy; a next-to-leading order matching condition for the crossing of the bottom threshold in the evolution. Important initial-state electromagnetic radiation effects in the CLEO and BELLE data are also a…
We compare QCD theoretical predictions for heavy flavoured mesons fragmentation spectra in e+ e- annihilation with data from CLEO, BELLE and LEP. We include several effects in our calculation: next-to-leading order initial conditions, evolution and coefficient functions. Soft-gluon effects are resummed at next-to-leading-log accuracy. A matching condition for the crossing of the bottom threshold in evolution is also implemented at next-to-leading order accuracy. Important initial-state electromagnetic radiation effects in the CLEO and BELLE data are accounted for. We find that, with reasonably…
We briefly report our recent progress on the study of the polarized fragmentation functions of $Λ$ hyperon in unpolarized semi-inclusive deep-inelastic scatterings and electron-positron annihilations at low energies. In particular, we present a simple but practical method on how to measure the azimuthal-angle-dependent longitudinal polarization and the transverse polarization inside the production plane and bridge these observables to the corresponding structure functions and fragmentation functions at the leading twist. Our work diversifies the high energy reactions that can probe the polariz…
The new data on the $γ^*γ\to π^0$ transition form factor of the Belle Collaboration are analyzed in comparison with those of BaBar (including the older data of CELLO and CLEO) using an approach based on light-cone sum rules. Performing a 2-, and a 3-parametric fit to these data, we found that the Belle and the BaBar data have no overlap at the $1σ$ level. While the Belle data agree with our predictions, the Babar data are in conflict with them.
In this work we study the process $e^{+}+e^{-}\longrightarrow J/Ψ+η_{c} $ at energy $\sqrt{s}= 10.6 GeV$ observed recently at B-factories whose measurements were made by Babar and Belle groups. We calculate the cross section for this process in the Bethe-salpeter formalism under Covariant Instantaneous Anstaz (CIA). To simplify our calculation, the heavy quark approximation $(q<<M, P M)$ is employed in the quark and gluon propagators. In the exclusive process of $e^{+}e^{-}$ annihilation into two heavy quarkonia, the cross section calculated in this scenario is compatible with the experimental…
I report on the early history of Belle, which was almost entirely focused on testing the Kobayashi Maskawa mechanism for $CP$ violation that predicted large matter-antimatter asymmetries in certain $B$ meson decay modes. Results reported by both BaBar and Belle in the summer of 2001 verified the Kobayashi Maskawa idea and led to their Nobel prizes in 2008. In addition to studies of CP violation, Belle (and BaBar) reported a large number of important results on a wide variety of other subjects, many of which that had nothing to do with B mesons. In this talk I cover three (of many) subjects whe…
A quasi two-body QCD factorization is used to study the D0 --> K0S pi+ pi decays. The presently available high-statistics Dalitz plot data of this process measured by the Belle and BABAR Collaborations are analyzed together with the tau- --> K0S pi- nu_tau decay data. The total experimental branching fraction is also included in the fits which show a very good overall agreement with the experimental Dalitz plot density distributions. The branching fractions of the dominant channels compare well with those of the isobar Belle or BABAR models. We show that the branching fractions corresponding t…
BaBar has found $A_{\rm CP}(τ^- \to νK_Sπ^- [\geq π^0]) = (-0.36 \pm 0.23 \pm 0.11)%$ with 2.8 $σ$ difference with SM prediction $A_{\rm CP}(τ^- \to νK_Sπ^-) = (0.36 \pm 0.01)%$ based on $K^0 - \bar K^0$ oscillation. Four central points: (i) to establish both the `existence' of New Dynamics (ND) and its `features' in local CP asymmetries; (ii) to increase the number of final states to be probed; (iii) to emphasize correlations of CP violations between different final states; (iv) likewise for the correlations with $D^{\pm}$ final states. These measurements should be possible at SuperB & Belle …
The surprising polarisation of Lambdas and other hyperons measured in many unpolarised hadronic processes, p N --> Lambda X, has been a long standing challenge for QCD phenomenology. One possible explanation was suggested, related to non perturbative properties of the quark hadronisation process, and encoded in the so-called Polarising Fragmentation Function (PFF). Recent Belle data have shown a non zero Lambda polarisation also in unpolarised e+ e- processes, e+ e- --> Lambda X and e+ e- --> Lambda h X. We consider the single inclusive case and the role of the PFFs. Adopting a simplified kine…
Using the QCD sum rule approach we investigate the possible four-quark structure of the recently observed charmed scalar mesons $D_0^{0}(2308)$ (BELLE) and $D_0^{0,+}(2405)$ (FOCUS) and also of the very narrow $D_{sJ}^{+}(2317)$, firstly observed by BABAR. We use diquak-antidiquark currents and work to the order of $m_s$ in full QCD, without relying on $1/m_c$ expansion. Our results indicate that a four-quark structure is acceptable for the resonances observed by BELLE and BABAR: $D_0^{0}(2308)$ and $D_{sJ}^{+}(2317)$ respectively, but not for the resonances observed by FOCUS: $D_0^{0,+}(2405)…
Babar, Belle and recently LHCb has reported an excess in the measurements of $R(D^{*})$, $R(D)$ and $\mathcal{B}r(B \rightarrow τν_τ )$ than expected from SM, a possible signature of lepton flavor universality violating NP. In this work we analyze the phenomenological implications for these decay modes in a Flipped/Lepton-Specific 2HDM with anomalously enhanced Yukawa coupling of $H^{\pm}$ to $τ$/b. When experimental and theoretical errors are added in quadrature, we conclude that this phenomenological extension of SM can give results in agreement within 1$σ$ deviation for the combination of $…
The photon transition form factors of $π$, $η$ and $η'$ are discussed in view of recent measurements. It is shown that the exact axial anomaly sum rule allows a precise comparison of all three form factors at high-$Q^2$ independent of the different structures and distribution amplitudes of the participating pseudoscalar mesons. We conclude: (i) The $πγ$ form factor reported by Belle is in excellent agreement with the non-strange I=0 component of the $η$ and $η'$ form factors obtained from the BaBar measurements. (ii) Within errors, the $πγ$ form factor from Belle is compatible with the asympto…
We present evidence for the psi(5S) and psi(4D) c-cbar vector resonances in experimental data published by the Belle and BaBar Collaborations. Central masses and resonance widths are estimated.
We elaborate the inclusive production of single heavy-flavored hadrons in e^+e^- annihilation at next-to-leading order in the general-mass variable-flavor-number scheme. In this framework, we determine non-perturbative fragmentation functions for D^0, D^+, and D^{*+} mesons by fitting experimental data from the Belle, CLEO, ALEPH, and OPAL Collaborations, taking dominant electroweak corrections due to photonic initial-state radiation into account. We assess the significance of finite-mass effects through comparisons with a similar analysis in the zero-mass variable-flavor-number scheme. Under …
Dark showers from strongly interacting dark sectors that confine at the GeV scale can give rise to novel signatures at $e^+e^-$ colliders. In this work, we study the sensitivity of $B$ factory experiments to dark showers produced through an effective interaction arising from a heavy off-shell mediator. We show that a prospective search for displaced vertices from GeV-scale long-lived particles at Belle II can improve the sensitivity to dark showers substantially compared to an existing search at BaBar. We compare the sensitivity of searches for displaced signals to searches for promptly produc…
We calculate the D-wave charmonium production in $e^+e^-$ annihilation at BELLE and BABAR at $\sqrt{s}=10.6$ GeV using the nonrelativistic QCD factorization formalism, including color singlet and color octet contributions. We analyze the contributions of various processes for $δ_J(J=1,2)$ production. We find that both the color singlet and color octet channels may give substantial contributions, and the production rates are estimated to be $σ(δ_1)\simeq 0.043-0.16pb$ and $σ(δ_2)\simeq 0.094-0.29pb$, which, however, are very sensitive to the choice of the color octet matrix elements of the D-wa…
We determine |V_{\rm td}/V_{\rm ts}| = 0.192 \pm 0.016_ exp \pm 0.014_th from B -> (K^*,rho) gamma as measured by the B-factories Babar and Belle. This version differs from the original proceedings by the inclusion of the new BaBar measurement of B -> rho(omega) gamma presented at ICHEP 2006, which significantly shifts the results for |V_{td}/V_{ts}|.
Complementing the presentations, at this conference, of the first experimental evidence for $D$ mixing found at BaBar and Belle, I discuss the theoretical status of $D$ mixing.
We investigate the role of heavy quarks in the production of light flavored hadrons and in the determination of the corresponding non perturbative hadronization probabilities. We define a general mass variable flavor number scheme for fragmentation functions that accounts for heavy quark mass effects, and perform a global QCD analysis to an up-to-date data set including very precise Belle and BaBar results. We show that the mass dependent picture provides a much more accurate and consistent description of data.
We investigate the transverse polarization of the $Λ$ hyperon in the processes $e^+e^-\toΛ^\uparrow π^\pm X$ and $e^+e^-\toΛ^\uparrow K^\pm X$ within the framework of the transverse momentum dependent~(TMD) factorization. The transverse polarization is contributed by the convolution of the transversely polarizing fragmentation function~(PFF) $D_{1T}^\perp$ of the lambda hyperon and the unpolarized fragmentation function $D_1$ of pion/kaon. We adopt the spectator diquark model result for $D_{1T}^{\perp}$ to numerically estimate the transverse polarization in $e^+e^-\toΛ^\uparrow h X$ process at…
Motivated by the possibility of the low value of sin2βin the measurements of BABAR and BELLE collaborations, a reference unitarity triangle is constructed using the unitarity of the CKM matrix and the experimental values of the well known CKM elements, without involving any inputs from the processes which might include the new physics effects. The angles of the triangle are evaluated by finding the CP violating phase δthrough the Jarlskog's rephasing invariant parameter J. The present data and the unitarity of the CKM matrix gives for δthe range 28^o to 152^o, which for sin2βtranslates to the …
Using the QCD sum rule approach we investigate the possible four-quark structure of the recently observed mesons $D_{sJ}^{+}(2317)$, firstly observed by BaBaR, X(3872), firstly observed by BELLE and $D_0^{*0}(2308)$ observed by BELLE. We use diquark-antidiquark currents and work in full QCD, without relying on $1/m_c$ expansion. Our results indicate that a four-quark structure is acceptable for these mesons.
Mixing in the D0 system may provide a sensitive probe for new physics beyond the Standard Model (SM) but has so far eluded experimental observation. The SM predictions are typically small (< 10^{-3}) for the mixing parameters x, y which, in the absence of charge-parity (CP) symmetry violation, measure the mass (x= Delta(m)/Gamma) and lifetime (y= Delta(Gamma)/2Gamma) difference of the CP eigenstates in the D0 system. The asymmetric B-factory experiments BABAR and Belle open up the opportunity of measuring x, y with unprecedented statistical precision and sample purities. Results from BABAR and…
It is noted that the low-energy behavior of the pion-photon transition form factor $F_{πγ}(Q^2)$ is sensitive to the transverse distribution of the pion wavefunction, and its high-energy behavior is sensitive to the longitudinal one. Thus a careful study on $F_{πγ}(Q^2)$ can provide helpful information on the pion wavefunction precisely. In this paper, we present a combined analysis of the data on $F_{πγ}(Q^2)$ reported by the CELLO, the CLEO, the BABAR and the BELLE collaborations. It is performed by using the method of least squares. By using the combined measurements of BELLE and CLEO Colla…
Very recently the LHCb experiment released the first measurement of the ratio $R(Λ_c) = {\rm BR}(Λ_b \to Λ_cτ\barν_τ)/{\rm BR}(Λ_b \to Λ_cμ\barν_μ)$. Moreover, the BABAR experiment reported a new result of the leptonic decay ratio of Upsilon meson $Υ(3S)$, namely, $R_{Υ(3S)} = {\rm BR}(Υ(3S) \to τ^+τ^-)/{\rm BR}(Υ(3S) \to μ^+μ^-)$. Both measurements are below their corresponding Standard Model predictions (deficit), deviating by $\sim 1.1σ$ and $\sim 1.8σ$, respectively. Moreover, the LHCb recently presented the first search of the lepton flavor violating decay $B^0 \to K^{\ast 0}μ^\pmτ^\mp$. …
Recent time-dependent CP asymmetry measurements in the $B_d \to J/ψK_S$ channel by the BaBar and Belle Collaborations yield somewhat lower values of $\sin 2β$ compared to the one obtained from the standard model fit. If the inconsistency between these numbers persists with more statistics, this will signal new physics contaminating the $B_d \to J/ψK_S$ channel, thus disturbing the extraction of $β$. We show that the R-parity-violating interactions in supersymmetric theories can provide extra new phases which play a role in significantly reducing the above CP asymmetry, thus explaining why BaBa…
We review the charmonium production in $e^+e^-$ annihilation at $\sqrt{s}=10.6GeV$. NRQCD predictions for the $J/ψ$ production are compared with the recent measurements by BaBar and Belle. A NRQCD calculation for the $D$-wave charmonium production is reported to further test the color-octet mechanism and detect the $J^{PC}=2^{--}$ state. The issue of double $c \bar c$ production in $e^+e^-$ annihilation observed by Belle is also discussed.
We study the process of electron-positron annihilation into back-to-back jets, where in each jet a pair of hadrons is detected. The orientation of these two pairs with respect to each other can be used to extract the interference fragmentation functions in a clean way, for instance from BELLE or BABAR experiment data. This is of relevance for studies of the transversity distribution function. In particular, we focus on two azimuthal asymmetries. The first one has already been studied by Artru and Collins, but is now expressed in terms of interference fragmentation functions. The second asymmet…
In the last two years substantial progress for the simulation of the process: $τ^- \to π^-π^+π^- ν_τ$ by the Monte Carlo generator TAUOLA was achieved. It is related to a new parametrization of the corresponding hadronic current based on the Resonance Chiral Lagrangian and the recent availability of the unfolded distributions from the BaBar Collaboration analysis for all invariant hadronic masses. The theoretical model parameters were fitted to the one-dimensional distributions provided by the BaBar Collaboration and results of the fit are discussed. A set of the hadronic currents for other fi…
The Collins fragmentation function is extracted from HERMES data on azimuthal single spin asymmetries in semi-inclusive deeply inelastic scattering, and BELLE data on azimuthal asymmetries in electron positron annihilations. A Gaussian model is assumed for the distribution of transverse parton momenta and predictions are used from the chiral quark-soliton model for the transversity distribution function. We find that the HERMES and BELLE data yield a consistent picture of the Collins fragmentation function which is compatible with COMPASS data and the information previously obtained from an an…
The Belle II physics potential for hadron spectroscopy, inputs to g-2, fragmentation functions, proton form factors, measurements of $α_s$ and hadronic $τ$ decays is outlined.
We make a systematic study of the isospin symmetry of fragmentation functions by taking decay contributions into account. We assume the isospin symmetry in strong interactions and show that in the unpolarized case the isospin symmetry is held for fragmentation functions of $Λ$ and only tiny violations are allowed for other hadrons such as nucleon and pions due to the contributions from weak decays. We present a rough estimate of the magnitudes of such violations. In the polarized case, we show that the isospin symmetry violation for $Λ$ production should be tiny and the recent Belle data on th…
Using a model calculation of dihadron fragmentation functions, we fit the spin asymmetry recently extracted by HERMES for the semi-inclusive pion pair production in deep-inelastic scattering on a transversely polarized proton target. By evolving the obtained dihadron fragmentation functions, we make predictions for the correlation of the angular distributions of two pion pairs produced in electron-positron annihilations at BELLE kinematics. Our study shows that the combination of two-hadron inclusive deep-inelastic scattering and electron-positron annihilation measurements can provide a valid …
We study inclusive $Λ_c^{\pm}$-baryon production in $pp$ collisions in the general-mass variable-flavor number scheme and compare with data from the LHCb, ALICE and CMS collaborations. We perform a new fit of the $c \to Λ_c^+$ fragmentation function combining $e^+e^-$ data from OPAL and Belle. The agreement with LHC data is slightly worse compared with a calculation using an older fragmentation function, and the tension between different determinations of $Λ_c^{\pm}$ production cross sections from the LHC experimental collaborations is not resolved. The ratio of data for $Λ_c^+$-baryon and $D^…
Motivated by the possibility of the low value of sin2βin the measurements of BABAR and BELLE collaborations, we have explored the possibilty of construction of reference unitarity triangle using the unitarity of the CKM matrix, the existence of nonzero CP violating phase δand the experimental values of the well known CKM elements, without involving any inputs from the processes which might include the new physics effects. The angles of the reference triangle are evaluated by finding δthrough the Jarlskog's rephasing invariant parameter J. The present data and the unitarity of the CKM matrix gi…
Fragmentation functions are determined for the pion and kaon by global analyses of charged-hadron production data in electron-positron annihilation. Accurate measurements were reported by the Belle and BaBar collaborations for the fragmentation functions at the center-of-mass energies of 10.52 GeV and 10.54 GeV, respectively, at the KEK and SLAC B factories, whereas other available $e^+e^-$ measurements were mostly done at higher energies, mainly at the $Z$ mass of 91.2 GeV. There is a possibility that gluon fragmentation functions, as well as quark fragmentation functions, are accurately dete…
We present the complete structure of the azimuthal dependences and polarization observables for two-hadron production in $e^+e^-$ annihilation processes within a transverse momentum dependent (TMD) approach adopting the helicity formalism. The leading-twist TMD fragmentation functions (TMD-FFs) for spin-1/2 hadrons are fully accounted for. The role of the polarizing FF, together with its extraction from Belle data for the transverse polarization of $Λ$'s, are discussed as well. Finally, predictions for SIDIS processes at EIC are presented.
We suggest that the recently observed charmed scalar mesons $D_0^{0}(2308)$ (BELLE) and $D_0^{0,+}(2405)$ (FOCUS) are considered as different resonances. Using the QCD sum rule approach we investigate the possible four-quark structure of these mesons and also of the very narrow $D_{sJ}^{+}(2317)$, firstly observed by BABAR. We use diquak-antidiquark currents and work to the order of $m_s$ in full QCD, without relying on $1/m_c$ expansion. Our results indicate that a four-quark structure is acceptable for the resonances observed by BELLE and BABAR: $D_0^{0}(2308)$ and $D_{sJ}^{+}(2317)$ respect…
The present experimental status of searches for lepton flavor violating decays of the $τ$ lepton to a lighter mass lepton and a photon or a pseudoscalar meson is presented. The results obtained are from $e^+e^-$ annihilation data collected at a center-of-mass energy near 10.58 GeV by the \babar and the Belle detectors. In order to benefit from larger available datasets, the first $\babar-$Belle combinations of upper limits on the branching fractions of lepton flavor violating $τ$-decays are obtained.
