After the discovery of the 125 GeV scalar boson with gauge properties similar to the Standard Model Higgs, the search for beyond the SM interactions will focus on studying the discovered particles' coupling properties more precisely and shedding light on the relation of fermion masses with the electroweak vacuum. The large mass of the top quark and the SM-predicted order one top Yukawa coupling is a natural candidate for BSM physics, though experimentally challenging to constrain. In this paper, we argue that investigating angular correlations in $pp\to tHj$ production provides an excellent handle to constrain the top Yukawa coupling $y_t$ via direct measurements, even when we focus on rare exclusive final states. We perform a hadron-level analysis and show that we may expect to constrain $y_t\gtrsim 0.5\, y_t^{\text{SM}}$ at 95%-99% confidence level at the high luminosity LHC using semi-leptonic top decays and $H\to γγ$ alone, by employing a two-channel measurement approach.
It is illustrated how LHC precision measurements of rates and distributions in single-Higgs production can be used to constrain the charm Yukawa as well as the Higgs trilinear coupling.
We explore the prospect of Yukawa production of a light boson which can exist in an extended Higgs sector. A particularly interesting case is the light pseudoscalar in Type-X two Higgs doublet model which can explain the anomalous magnetic moment of muon at large $\tanβ$. Considering ILC $Higgs$ $factory$ with $\sqrt{s}=250$ GeV, we show that the available parameter space can be fully examined by the (tau) Yukawa process at $5σ$. We also demonstrate the mass reconstruction of such a light particle which helps to sizably minimize the background events.
Measuring the fermion Yukawa coupling constants is important for understanding the origin of the fermion masses and its relationship to the spontaneously electroweak symmetry breaking. On the other hand, some new physics models will change the Lorentz structure of the Yukawa interactions between the standard model (SM) fermions and the SM-like Higgs boson even in their decoupling limit. Thus the precisely measurement of the fermion Yukawa interactions is a powerful tool of new physics searching in the decoupling limit. In this work, we show the possibility of investigating the Lorentz structur…
One of the puzzles of the SM is the large hierarchy between the Yukawa couplings of different flavours. Yukawa couplings of the first and the second generation are constrained only very weakly so far. However, one can obtain large deviations in the Yukawa couplings in several New Physics (NP) models, such as e.g. models with new vector-like quarks, or new Higgs bosons that couple naturally to individual fermion families. In this work, we investigate the potential bounds on the NP Higgs Yukawa couplings modification $ κ_f$ for light quarks from double-Higgs at the LHC, starting from a model ind…
Higgs-boson pair production at hadron colliders is dominantly mediated by the loop-induced gluon-fusion process $gg\to HH$ that is generated by heavy top loops within the Standard Model with a minor per-cent level contamination of bottom-loop contributions. The QCD corrections turn out to be large for this process. In this note, we derive the top-Yukawa-induced part of the electroweak corrections to this process and discuss their relation to an effective trilinear Higgs coupling with integrated out top-quark contributions.
We review the present status and the future prospects for the measurements of the Higgs Yukawa couplings to light quarks and charm. A special focus is given to novel proposed off-shell probes, which offer promising and complementary opportunities to test light quark Yukawas in triboson final states. Additionally, a new off-shell strategy to test the charm Yukawa coupling in the final state with two bosons plus a charm and a jet is considered. First estimates for the HL-LHC and the FCC-hh sensitivities on the channel are presented, showing encouraging results.
We discuss scenarios with wrong-sign (WS) Yukawa couplings for the discovered Higgs boson in the Yukawa-aligned two Higgs doublet model. In the WS scenario, Yukawa couplings for down-type quarks and/or charged leptons have an opposite sign as compared to those of the Higgs boson in the standard model, which can be consistent with current flavour data and the Higgs signal strengths. The phenomenology of additional Higgs bosons in such a scenario can be significantly different from that with right-sign Yukawa couplings, mainly due to a larger Higgs boson mixing to be required in the wrong-sign c…
We propose a novel strategy to constrain the bottom and charm Yukawa couplings by exploiting LHC measurements of transverse momentum distributions in Higgs production. Our method does not rely on the reconstruction of exclusive final states or heavy-flavour tagging. Compared to other proposals it leads to an enhanced sensitivity to the Yukawa couplings due to distortions of the differential Higgs spectra from emissions which either probe quark loops or are associated to quark-initiated production. We derive constraints using data from LHC Run I, and we explore the prospects of our method at fu…
We explore a scenario in the Standard Model in which dimension four Yukawa couplings are either forbidden by a symmetry, or happen to be very tiny, and the Yukawa interactions are dominated by effective dimension six interactions. In this case, the Higgs interactions to the fermions are enhanced in a large way, whereas its interaction with the gauge bosons remains the same as in the Standard Model. In hadron colliders, Higgs boson production via gluon gluon fusion increases by a factor of nine. Higgs decay widths to fermion anti-fermion pairs also increase by the same factor, whereas the decay…
In this letter we present the results of the exact computation of contributions to the Higgs boson decay into bottom quarks that are proportional to the top Yukawa coupling. Our computation demonstrates that approximate results already available in the literature turn out to be particularly accurate for the three physical mass values of the Higgs boson, the bottom and top quarks. Furthermore, contrary to expectations, the impact of these corrections on differential distributions relevant for the searches of the Higgs boson decaying into bottom quarks at the Large Hadron Collider is rather smal…
We perform global fits of the Higgs boson couplings to all the 7 TeV, 8 TeV, and 13 TeV data available up to the Summer 2018. New measurements at 13 TeV extend to include the Higgs signal strengths exclusively measured in associated Higgs production with top-quark pair and the third-generation Yukawa couplings now have been established. Some important consequences emerge from the global fits. (i) The overall average signal strength of the Higgs boson stands at $2σ$ above the SM value ($μ= 1.10 \pm 0.05 $). (ii) For the first time the bottom-quark Yukawa coupling shows a preference of the posit…
When the charged Higgs boson is too heavy to be produced in pairs, the predominant production mechanism at Linear Colliders is via the single charged Higgs boson production processes, such as $e^-e^+ \to b \bar c H^+, τ\bar νH^+$ and $γγ\to b \bar c H^+, τ\bar νH^+$. We show that the yield of a heavy charged Higgs boson at a $γγ$ collider is typically one or two orders of magnitude larger than that at an $e^-e^+$ collider. Furthermore, a polarized $γγ$ collider can determine the chirality of the Yukawa couplings of fermions with charged Higgs boson via single charged Higgs boson production, an…
We propose a new method to determine the coupling of the Higgs boson to charm quarks, via Higgs production in association with a charm-tagged jet: $pp\to hc$. As a first estimate, we find that at the LHC with 3000 fb$^{-1}$ it should be possible to derive a constraint of order one, relative to the SM value of the charm Yukawa coupling. As a byproduct of this analysis, we present an estimate of the exclusive $pp \to hD^{(*)}$ electroweak cross section. Within the SM, the latter turns out to be not accessible at the LHC even in the high-luminosity phase.
We study the discovery reach of the Tevatron and the LHC for detecting a Higgs boson (h), predicted in composite models of the electroweak symmetry breaking or in supersymmetric theories, with an enhanced b-quark Yukawa coupling via p \bar{p} / p p \to b \bbar h (\to b \bbar) + X. Our analysis shows that studying this process at the Tevatron Run II or the LHC can provide strong constraints on these models.
After the great triumph of the Higgs discovery in 2012, the next target at the energy frontier will be to study the Higgs properties and to search for the next scale beyond the SM. Experimentally, the $H\to c \bar{c}$ channel would be extremely difficult to dig out because of both the weak Yukawa coupling and the daunting SM di-jet background. We propose to test the charm-quark Yukawa coupling at the LHC and future hadron colliders with the Higgs boson decay to $J/ψ$ via the charm-quark fragmentation. Using the non-relativistic quantum chromodynamics (NRQCD), we study the charmonia production …
We show that both flavor-conserving and flavor-violating Yukawa couplings of the Higgs boson to first- and second-generation quarks can be probed by measuring rare decays of the form h->MV, where M denotes a vector meson and V indicates either gamma, W or Z. We calculate the branching ratios for these processes in both the Standard Model and its possible extensions. We discuss the experimental prospects for their observation. The possibility of accessing these Higgs couplings appears to be unique to the high-luminosity LHC and future hadron colliders, providing further motivation for those mac…
The determination of the Yukawa coupling of the top quark to the Higgs boson is one of the most important measurements that a future e^+e^- linear collider could provide. For a Higgs boson of mass greater than 350 GeV, this coupling can be determined using the Higgs resonant contribution to t \bar t production from W^+ W^- fusion at TeV energies. We have made a careful evaluation of the significance with which the signal of a Higgs decaying to t \bar t pairs could be observed at future e^+ e^- linear colliders, with center of mass energies close to 1 TeV and an integrated luminosity of 1 ab^{-…
Associated production of the Higgs boson with a single top quark proceeds through Feynman diagrams, which are either proportional to the hWW, top-Yukawa, or the bottom-Yukawa couplings. It was shown in literature that the interference between the top-Yukawa and the gauge-Higgs diagrams can be significant, and thus the measurement of the cross sections can help pin down the sign and the size of the top-Yukawa coupling. Here we perform a detailed study with full detector simulations of such a possibility at the LHC-14 within the current allowed range of hWW and top-Yukawa couplings, using h-> b …
We demonstrate that four top-quark production is a powerful tool to constrain the top Yukawa coupling. The constraint is robust in the sense that it does not rely on the Higgs boson decay. Taking into account the projection of the $t\bar{t}H$ production by the ATLAS collaobration, we obtain a bound on Higgs boson width, $Γ_H\leq 3.1~Γ_H^{\rm SM}$, at the 14 TeV LHC with an integrated luminosity of $300~{\rm fb}^{-1}$. Increasing the luminosity to $500~{\rm fb}^{-1}$ yields $Γ_H\leq 2.1~Γ_H^{\rm SM}$.
The ATLAS and CMS collaborations observed a mild excess in the associated Higgs production with a top-quark pair ($t\bar t h$) and reported the signal strengths of $ μ_{tth}^{\rm ATLAS}=1.81\pm 0.80$ and $μ_{tth}^{\rm CMS}=2.75\pm 0.99 $ based on the data collected at $\sqrt{s}$= 7 and 8 TeV. Although, at the current stage, there is no obvious indication whether the excess is real or due to statistical fluctuations, here we perform a case study of this mild excess by exploiting the strong entanglement between the associated Higgs production with a single top quark ($thX$) and $t\bar t h$ produ…
We investigate CP-violating interactions involving the Higgs boson and gluons within an effective field theory approach, focusing on the specific class of new-physics scenarios where the Yukawa couplings of light quarks are zero or strongly suppressed compared to the standard-model expectations. We compute the contributions of the most relevant higher-dimensional operators of Weinberg type to the electric dipole moment of the neutron (nEDM), which are induced by Feynman diagrams that involve an effective CP-violating Higgs-gluon coupling and top-quark loops. The resulting nEDM sensitivities an…
Revealing the Higgs pair production process is the next big challenge in high energy physics. In this work, we explore the use of interpretable machine learning and cooperative game theory for extraction of the trilinear Higgs self-coupling in Higgs pair production. In particular, we show how a topological decomposition of the gluon-gluon fusion Higgs pair production process can be used to simplify the machine learning analysis flow. Furthermore, we extend the analysis to include $q\bar{q}\to hh$ production, which is strongly suppressed in the Standard Model, to extract the trilinear Higgs cou…
With a second Higgs doublet, extra Yukawa couplings $ρ_{ij}$ generally exist. Baryon Asymmetry of the Universe (BAU) can be accounted for by $ρ_{tt} \sim {\cal O}(1)$, with first order electroweak phase transition (EWPT) arising from ${\cal O}(1)$ Higgs quartic couplings. The latter can explain why the observed $h(125)$ boson so resembles the Standard Model (SM) Higgs: with coupling $η_6 \sim{\cal O}(1)$ for two-doublet mixing, the $H$--$h$ mixing angle $\cosγ\cong -η_6 v^2/(m_H^2 - m_h^2)$ is suppressed by the $CP$-even boson mass splitting $m_H^2 - m_h^2 > {\rm few}\ v^2$. The approximate al…
We analyze the advantages of a linear-collider program for testing a recent theoretical proposal where the Higgs-boson Yukawa couplings are radiatively generated, keeping unchanged the standard-model mechanism for electroweak-gauge-symmetry breaking. Fermion masses arise at a large energy scale through an unknown mechanism, and the standard model at the electroweak scale is regarded as an effective field theory. In this scenario, Higgs boson decays into photons and electroweak gauge-boson pairs are considerably enhanced for a light Higgs boson, which makes a signal observation at the LHC strai…
We propose a novel idea for probing the Higgs boson couplings through the measurement of hadronic event shape distributions in the decay of the Higgs boson at lepton colliders. The method provides a unique test of the Higgs boson couplings and of QCD effects in the decay of the Higgs boson. It can be used to probe the Yukawa couplings of the light quarks and to further test the mechanism of electroweak symmetry breaking. From a case study for the proposed Circular Electron-Positron Collider, assuming a hypothesis of SM-like theory, light-quark couplings with a strength greater than 9% of the b…
We study the deviation of yukawa coupling in the gauge-Higgs unification scenario from the Standard Model one. Applying the obtained results to the tau and bottom yukawa couplings, we numerically calculate the signal strength of $gg \to H \to \bar b b, \bar τ τ$in the gauge-Higgs unification.
We suggest that the exclusive Higgs + light (or b)-jet production at the LHC, $pp \to h+j(j_b)$, is a rather sensitive probe of the light-quarks Yukawa couplings and of other forms of new physics (NP) in the Higgs-gluon $hgg$ and quark-gluon $qqg$ interactions. We study the Higgs $p_T$-distribution in $pp \to h+j(j_b) \to γγ+ j(j_b)$, i.e., in $h+j(j_b)$ production followed by the Higgs decay $h \to γγ$, employing the ($p_T$-dependent) signal strength formalism to probe various types of NP which are relevant to these processes and which we parameterize either as scaled Standard Model (SM) coup…
We study the deviation of yukawa coupling in the gauge-Higgs unification scenario from the Standard Model one. Taking into account the brane mass terms necessary for generating the flavor mixing and removing the exotic massless fermions, we derive an analytic formula determining the KK mass spectrum and yukawa coupling. Applying the obtained results to the tau and bottom yukawa couplings, we numerically calculate the ratio of the yukawa couplings in the gauge-Higgs unification and in the Standard Model.
After the discovery of a 126 GeV state at the LHC it is imperative to establish whether this particle really is the Higgs boson of the standard model. The early measurements have not yet pinpointed any of the Higgs couplings to fermions, the Yukawa couplings of the standard model. In this paper we study the values of the top-quark-Higgs coupling, $g_{ht\bar{t}}$, that are still allowed by the one-loop couplings of the Higgs to two gluons or two photons. We first assume that both the gluon fusion production of the Higgs and its decay into two photons proceed through loops with standard model pa…
We explore the possibility that, while the Higgs mechanism provides masses to the weak-gauge bosons at the electroweak scale as in the standard model, fermion masses are generated by an unknown mechanism at a higher energy scale. At low energies, the standard model can then be regarded as an effective field theory, where fermion masses explicitly break the electroweak SU(2)_L \times U(1)_Y gauge symmetry. If Λis the renormalization scale where the renormalized Yukawa couplings vanish, then at energies lower than Λ, effective Yukawa couplings will be radiatively induced by nonzero fermion masse…
The top quark Yukawa coupling ($y_t$) can be modified by two dimension-six operators $\mathcal{O}_H$ and $\mathcal{O}_y$ with the corresponding Wilson coefficients $c_H$ and $c_y$, whose individual contribution cannot be distinguished by measuring $y_t$ alone. However, such a degeneracy can be resolved with Higgs boson pair production. In this work we explore the potential of resolving the degeneracy of the unknown Wilson coefficients $c_H$ and $c_y$ at the 14~TeV LHC and the 100~TeV hadron colliders. Combining the information of the single Higgs production, $t\bar{t}h$ associated production a…
We consider the potential of the Higgs boson pair production process to probe the light quark Yukawa couplings. We show within an effective theory description that the prospects of constraining enhanced first generation light quark Yukawa couplings in Higgs pair production are similar to other methods and channels, due to a coupling of two Higgs bosons to two fermions. Higgs pair production can hence also probe if the Higgs sector couples non-linearly to the light quark generations. For the second generation, we show that by employing charm tagging for the Higgs boson pair decaying to $c\bar{c…
The CMS experiment at the LHC has performed the first measurement of the CP structure of the Yukawa coupling between the Higgs boson and tau leptons. The measurement is based on data collected in proton-proton collisions at $\sqrt{s} = 13$ TeV during 2016-18, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of $137\text{ fb}^{-1}$. The analysis utilizes the angular correlation between the decay planes of tau leptons produced in Higgs boson decays, where dedicated analysis techniques are used to optimise the reconstruction of tau decay planes. The measured value of the CP mixing angle is $4\pm17^{\cir…
We introduce four different types of data-driven analyses with different level of robustness that constrain the size of the Higgs-charm Yukawa coupling: (i) recasting the vector-boson associated, Vh, analyses that search for bottom-pair final state. We use this mode to directly and model independently constrain the Higgs to charm coupling, y_c/y_c^{SM} < 234; (ii) the direct measurement of the total width, y_c/y_c^{SM} < 120-140; (iii) the search to h -> J/ψγ, y_c/y_c^{SM} < 220; (iv) a global fit to the Higgs signal strengths, y_c/y_c^{SM} < 6.2. A comparison with t\bar{t}h data allows us to …
We investigate the inclusive production of the Higgs boson with a heavy quark pair, $t {\bar t}$ or $b {\bar b}$, in e^+e^- collisions at high energy. The ${\cal O}(α_s)$ QCD corrections are included.
The wave functions and Yukawa couplings of the top and bottom quarks in the SO(5) x U(1) gauge-Higgs unification model are determined. The result is summarized in the effective interactions for \hat θ_H(x) = θ_H + H(x)/f_H where θ_H is the Wilson line phase and H(x) is the 4D Higgs field. The Yukawa, WWH and ZZH couplings vanish at θ_H = \onehalf π. There emerges the possibility that the Higgs particle becomes stable.
Extensions of the MSSM generically feature gauge singlet Higgs bosons. These singlet Higgs bosons have tan(beta)-enhanced Yukawa couplings to down-type quarks and leptons at the one-loop level. We present an effective Lagrangian incorporating these Yukawa couplings and use it to study their effect on singlet Higgs boson phenomenology within both the mnSSM and NMSSM. It is found that the loop-induced couplings represent an appreciable effect for the singlet pseudoscalar in particular, and may dominate its decay modes in some regions of parameter space.
We study a possibility of a measurement of muon Yukawa couplings in s-channel Higgs boson production at a muon collider with transversely polarized beams. We investigate sensitivity to the relative size of the CP-odd and CP-even muon Yukawa couplings. Provided the event rate observed justify the operation of the $μ^+μ^-$ Higgs boson factory, we have found that polarization degree 40% is sufficient to resolve the CP nature of a single resonance as well as disentangle it from two overlapping CP conserving resonances.
We study the alignment of Yukawa couplings in the framework of general two Higgs doublet models (2HDMs) considering a scenario in which the lightest neutral Higgs boson is purely CP even while the two heavier neutral Higgs bosons are allowed to mix in the presence of nontrivial CP-violating phases in the Higgs potential. Identifying the lightest neutral Higgs boson as the 125 GeV one discovered at the LHC, we find that the alignment of Yukawa couplings without decoupling could be easily achieved in the type-I 2HDM with no much conflict with the current LHC Higgs precision data. Otherwise, we o…
In multi-Higgs-doublet models the alignment in flavour space of the relevant Yukawa matrices guarantees the absence of tree-level flavour-changing couplings of the neutral scalar fields. We analyze the consequences of this condition within the two-Higgs-doublet model and show that it leads to a generic Yukawa structure which contains as particular cases all known specific implementations of the model based on Z_2 symmetries. All possible freedom in the Yukawa sector gets parametrized in terms of three complex couplings. In spite of having flavour conservation in the neutral scalar couplings, t…
We establish the cutoff-dependent upper Higgs boson mass bound by means of direct lattice computations in the framework of a chirally invariant lattice Higgs-Yukawa model emulating the same chiral Yukawa coupling structure as in the Higgs-fermion sector of the Standard Model. As expected from the triviality picture of the Higgs sector, we observe the upper mass bound to decrease with rising cutoff parameter $Λ$. Moreover, the strength of the fermionic contribution to the upper mass bound is explored by comparing to the corresponding analysis in the pure $Φ^4$-theory.
Three-loop renormalization group equations for the Higgs self-coupling and Higgs mass parameter are recalculated in the case of complex Yukawa matrices, which encompass general flavour structure of the Standard Model. In addition, the anomalous dimensions both for the quantum Higgs field and its vacuum expectation value are presented in the $\overline{MS}$-scheme. A numerical study of the latter quantities is carried out for a certain set of initial parameters.
We write down the renormalization-group equations for the Yukawa-coupling matrices in a general multi-Higgs-doublet model. We then assume that the matrices of the Yukawa couplings of the various Higgs doublets to right-handed fermions of fixed quantum numbers are all proportional to each other. We demonstrate that, in the case of the two-Higgs-doublet model, this proportionality is preserved by the renormalization-group running only in the cases of the standard type-I, II, X, and Y models. We furthermore show that a similar result holds even when there are more than two Higgs doublets: the Yuk…
We analytically compute two-loop Yukawa corrections to Higgs boson pair production in the high-energy limit. Such corrections are generated by an exchange of a Higgs boson between the virtual top quark lines. We propose two approaches to obtain expansions of the massive two-loop box integrals and show that precise results are obtained for transverse momenta of the Higgs bosons above about 150 GeV. We discuss in detail the computation of all 140 master integrals and present analytic results.
In this article, we present an ongoing lattice study of the Higgs-Yukawa model, in the regime of strong-Yukawa coupling, using overlap fermions. We investigated the phase structure in this regime by computing the Higgs vacuum expectation value, and by exploring the finite-size scaling behaviour of the susceptibility corresponding to the magnetisation. Our preliminary results indicate the existence of a second-order phase transition when the Yukawa coupling becomes large enough, at which the Higgs vacuum expectation value vanishes and the susceptibility diverges.
Singlet Higgs bosons present in extensions of the MSSM can have sizable Yukawa couplings to the b quark and the tau lepton for large values of tan(beta) at the 1-loop level. We present an effective Lagrangian which incorporates these tan(beta)-enhanced Yukawa couplings and which enables us to study their effect on singlet Higgs-boson phenomenology within the context of both the mnSSM and the NMSSM. In particular, we find that the loop-induced coupling can be a significant effect for the singlet pseudoscalar, and may dominate its decay modes. Further implications of the tan(beta)-enhanced Yukaw…
We discuss the Yukawa coupling unification, a very interesting prediction of the grand unified theory, in the context of scenarios with more than one pair of Higgs doublet since the current LHC constraint has become a problem for the Yukawa unification scenarios with just one pair of Higgs doublet. More than one pair of Higgs doublets can easily arise in missing partner mechanism which solves the doublet-triplet splitting problem. In such a scenario, the Yukawa unification occurs at a medium $\tanβ$ value, e.g., $\sim$ 30, which corresponds to much smaller threshold corrections compared to usu…
We consider the possibility that the Yukawa couplings depend on the Higgs field, with the motivation of generating the fermion mass hierarchy through appropriate powers of the Higgs vacuum expectation value. This leads to drastic modifications of the Higgs branching ratios, new Higgs contributions to various flavor-violating processes, and observable rates for the top quark decay t-> hc. The underlying flavor dynamics must necessarily appear at the TeV scale and is within the reach of the LHC.
We present a non-trivial correlation between the enhancement of the Higgs-fermion couplings and the Higgs pair production cross section in two Higgs doublet models with a flavour symmetry. This symmetry suppresses flavour-changing neutral couplings of the Higgs boson and allows for a partial explanation of the hierarchy in the Yukawa sector. After taking into account the constraints from electroweak precision measurements, Higgs coupling strength measurements, and unitarity and perturbativity bounds, we identify an interesting region of parameter space leading to enhanced Yukawa couplings as w…
We compute the leading logarithmic radiative corrections to the lightest Higgs mass in the NMSSM involving the electroweak gauge couplings and in the NMSSM specific Yukawa couplings lambda and kappa (including all mixed combinations), which are induced by chargino, neutralino and Higgs boson loops. The effect of the NMSSM specific Yukawa couplings lambda and kappa is to increase the upper bound on the lightest Higgs mass by up to ~2 GeV, but they can also decrease the lightest Higgs mass by up to ~-20 GeV.
A feasibility study of the measurement of the top-Higgs Yukawa coupling at a future linear e+e- collider operating at sqrt(s)=800 GeV is presented. As compared to previous existing studies, much effort has been put in a ``realistic simulation'' by including irreducible+reducible backgrounds, realistic detector effects and reconstruction procedures and finally, a multivariate analysis. Both hadronic and semileptonic decay channels have been considered.
We investigate a model that the Yukawa coupling form is constructed by two kinds of matrix (M_0 and M_1). For example, in the SO(10) GUT model, M_0 and M_1 are Yukawa couplings generated by the 10 and 126 Higgs scalars. We study how this model can give the observed mass and mixings of quarks and leptons. Parameter fitting is fully scanned by assuming all the input data to be normally distributed around the center value.
Higgs production from gluon fusion is sensitive to the properties of heavy colored fermions and to the Yukawa couplings, (Y_F M_F)/v, of these particles to the Higgs boson. We compute the two--loop, ${\cal O}((Y_F M_F)^3/v^3)$ contributions of new high mass fermions to Higgs production. In the Standard Model, these contributions are part of the well-known electroweak corrections and are negligible. However, in models with TeV scale fermions, such as top partner or composite models, Yukawa corrections are enhanced by effects of ${\cal O}((Y_F M_F)^3/v^3)$ and are potentially significant due to …
We suggest a simple one-Higgs-doublet model living in the bulk of five-dimensional spacetime compactified on $S^1/Z_2$, in which the top Yukawa coupling can be smaller than the naive standard-model expectation, i.e. the top quark mass divided by the Higgs vacuum expectation value. If we find only single Higgs particle at the LHC and also observe the top Yukawa deviation, our scenario becomes a realistic candidate beyond the standard model. The Yukawa deviation comes from the fact that the wave function profile of the free physical Higgs field can become different from that of the vacuum expect…
Understanding the mechanism of electroweak symmetry breaking and the origin of boson and fermion masses is among the most pressing questions raised in contemporary particle physics. If these issues involve one (several) Higgs boson(s), a precise measurement of all its (their) properties will be of prime importance. Among those, the Higgs coupling to matter fermions (the Yukawa coupling). At a Linear Collider, the process e+e- -> ttH will allow in principle a direct measurement of the top-Higgs Yukawa coupling. We present a realistic feasibility study of the measurement in the context of the TE…
We find that the one-loop correction to the ratio of Yukawa coupling and gauge coupling in the gauge-Higgs unification, "gauge-Yukawa universality violation", is finite and calculable in any space-time dimension. Applying this result to the ratio of top quark and W-boson masses, we show that the order one correction required to generate a viable top quark mass is indeed possible if the fermion embedding top quark belongs to the large dimensional representation of the gauge group and a vacuum expectation value of Higgs scalar field is very small comparing to the compactification scale.
We implement a comprehensive and detailed study of the alignment of Yukawa couplings in the so-called Higgs basis taking the framework of general two Higgs doublet models (2HDMs). We clarify the model input parameters and derive the Yukawa couplings considering the two types of CP-violating sources: one from the Higgs potential and the other from the three complex alignment parameters $ζ_{f=u,d,e}$. We consider the theoretical constraints from the perturbative unitarity and for the Higgs potential to be bounded from below as well as the experimental ones from electroweak precision observables.…
In this talk we assume SO(10) boundary conditions at the GUT scale, including unification for the third generation Yukawa couplings $λ_t = λ_b = λ_τ$. We find that this assumption is only consistent with the low energy data in a narrow region of soft SUSY breaking parameter space. We discuss the consequences of this result for Higgs and SUSY searches.
