Continuous-time stochastic systems have attracted a lot of attention recently, due to their wide-spread use in finance for modelling price-dynamics. More recently models taking into accounts shocks have been developed by assuming that the return process is an infinitesimal Levy process. Levy processes are also used to model the traffic in a telecommunication network. In this paper we focus on a particular technical problem: stability of time-varying stochastic systems driven or modulated by a Levy process with discrete time interventions, such as parameter or state resetting. Such systems will be called hybrid Levy systems. They are hybrid in the sense that jumps both in the dynamics may occur. The peculiarity of our systems is that the jump-times are defined by a more or less arbitrary point process, but there exists an asymmetry in the system dynamics. The novelty of our model relative to the theory of switching stochastic systems is two-fold. First, we allow slow time variation of the parameters, in a stochastic sense, without any statistical pattern, in the spirit of the classical stability result of Desoer. Secondly, we allow certain jumps (resetting) in the system parameters almost without any a priori condition.
We consider a Stochastic Differential Equation driven by a Lévy process whose Lévy measure satisfy a tempered stable domination. We study how a perturbation of the coefficients reflects on the density of the solution. We quantify the distance between the densities in term of the proximity of the coefficients. This extend to the stable case the works of [KKM15], where the noise is Gaussian.
In this paper, BDG-type inequality for G-stochastic calculus with respect to G-Levy process is obtained and solutions of stochastic differential equations driven by G-Levy process under non-Lipschitz condition are constructed. Moreover, we establish the mean square exponential stability and quasi sure exponential stability of the solutions be means of G-Lyapunov function method. An example is presented to illustrate the efficiency of the obtained results.
This paper is concerned with the behaviour of a Lévy process when it crosses over a positive level, $u$, starting from 0, both as $u$ becomes large and as $u$ becomes small. Our main focus is on the time, $τ_u$, it takes the process to transit above the level, and in particular, on the {\it stability} of this passage time; thus, essentially, whether or not $τ_u$ behaves linearly as $u\dto 0$ or $u\to\infty$. We also consider conditional stability of $τ_u$ when the process drifts to $-\infty$, a.s. This provides information relevant to quantities associated with the ruin of an insurance risk pr…
We compute the Hausdorff dimension of the image X(E) of a non random Borel set E $\subset$ [0, 1], where X is a Lévy multistable process in R. This extends the case where X is a classical stable Lévy process by letting the stability exponent $α$ be a smooth function, which leads to non-homogeneous processes because their increments are not stationary and not necessarily independent. Contrary to the situation where the stability parameter is a constant, the dimension depends on the version of the multistable Lévy motion when the process has an infinite first moment.
This paper is concerned with the small time behaviour of a Lévy process $X$. In particular, we investigate the {\it stabilities} of the times, $\Tstarb(r)$ and $\Tbarb(r)$, at which $X$, started with $X_0=0$, first leaves the space-time regions $\{(t,y)\in\R^2: y\le rt^b, t\ge 0\}$ (one-sided exit), or $\{(t,y)\in\R^2: |y|\le rt^b, t\ge 0\}$ (two-sided exit), $0\le b<1$, as $r\dto 0$. Thus essentially we determine whether or not these passage times behave like deterministic functions in the sense of different modes of convergence; specifically convergence in probability, almost surely and in $…
We prove a functional non-central limit theorem for jump-diffusions with periodic coefficients driven by strictly stable Levy-processes with stability index bigger than one. The limit process turns out to be a strictly stable Levy process with an averaged jump-measure. Unlike in the situation where the diffusion is driven by Brownian motion, there is no drift related enhancement of diffusivity.
In this paper, we study a class of backward stochastic Volterra integral equations driven by Teugels martingales associated with an independent Lévy process and an independent Brownian motion (BSVIELs). We prove the existence and uniqueness as well as stability of the adapted M-solutions for those equations. Moreover, a duality principle and then a comparison theorem are established. As an application, we derive a class of dynamic risk measures by means of M-solutions of certain BSVIELs.
This paper studies stabilities of stochastic differential equation (SDE) driven by time-changed Lévy noise in both probability and moment sense. This provides more flexibility in modeling schemes in application areas including physics, biology, engineering, finance and hydrology. Necessary conditions for solution of time-changed SDE to be stable in different senses will be established. Connection between stability of solution to time-changed SDE and that to corresponding original SDE will be disclosed. Examples related to different stabilities will be given. We study SDEs with time-changed Lév…
We investigate nonlinear stochastic Volterra equations in space and time that are driven by Lévy bases. Under a Lipschitz condition on the nonlinear term, we give existence and uniqueness criteria in weighted function spaces that depend on integrability properties of the kernel and the characteristics of the Lévy basis. Particular attention is devoted to equations with stationary solutions, or more generally, to equations with infinite memory, that is, where the time domain of integration starts at minus infinity. Here, in contrast to the case where time is positive, the usual integrability co…
This paper studies path stabilities of the solution to stochastic differential equations (SDE) driven by time-changed Lévy noise. The conditions for the solution of time-changed SDE to be path stable and exponentially path stable are given. Moreover, we reveal the important role of the time drift in determining the path stability properties of the solution. Related examples are provided.
In this paper, we introduce the concepts of Poisson square-mean almost automorphy and Poisson square-mean weighted pseudo almost automorphy. Using the theory of evolution family and stochastic analysis techniques, we establish the existence and uniqueness results of square-mean weighted pseudo almost automorphic solutions for some linear and semilinear nonautonomous stochastic differential equations driven by L$\acute{e}$vy noise. Moreover, we investigate the global and local exponentially stability of the square-mean weighted pseudo almost automorphic solutions.
In this paper we study the asymptotic properties of the power variations of stochastic processes of the type X=Y+L, where L is an alpha-stable Levy process, and Y a perturbation which satisfies some mild Lipschitz continuity assumptions. We establish local functional limit theorems for the power variation processes of X. In case X is a solution of a stochastic differential equation driven by L, these limit theorems provide estimators of the stability index alpha. They are applicable for instance to model fitting problems for paleo-climatic temperature time series taken from the Greenland ice c…
The master equation for a probability density function (pdf) driven by Lévy noise, if conditioned to conform with the principle of detailed balance, admits a transformation to a contractive strongly continuous semigroup dynamics. Given a priori a functional form of the semigroup potential, we address the ground-state reconstruction problem for generic Lévy-stable semigroups, for {\em all} values of the stability index $μ\in (0,2)$. That is known to resolve an invariant pdf for confined Lévy flights (e.g. the former jump-type process). Jeopardies of the procedure are discussed, with a focus on:…
We study a system of perfect integrate-and-fire inhibitory neurons. It is a system of stochastic processes which interact through receiving an instantaneous increase at the moments they reach certain thresholds. In the absence of interactions, these processes behave as a spectrally positive Lévy processes. Using the fluid approximation approach, we prove convergence to a stable distribution in total variation.
The aim of this paper is to prove stability of traveling waves for integro-differential equations connected with branching Markov processes. In other words, the limiting law of the left-most particle of a (time-continuous) branching Markov process with a Lévy non-branching part is demonstrated. The key idea is to approximate the branching Markov process by a branching random walk and apply the result of Aïdékon [1] on the limiting law of the latter one.
In this paper, we use a unified framework to study Poisson stable (including stationary, periodic, quasi-periodic, almost periodic, almost automorphic, Birkhoff recurrent, almost recurrent in the sense of Bebutov, Levitan almost periodic, pseudo-periodic, pseudo-recurrent and Poisson stable) solutions for semilinear stochastic differential equations driven by infinite dimensional Lévy noise with large jumps. Under suitable conditions on drift, diffusion and jump coefficients, we prove that there exist solutions which inherit the Poisson stability of coefficients. Further we show that these sol…
In this paper, we study a new type of stochastic functional differential equations which is called hybrid pantograph stochastic functional differential equations. We investigate several moment properties and sample properties of the solutions to the equations by using the method of multiple Lyapunov functions, such as the moment exponential stability, almost sure exponential stability and almost sure polynomial stability, etc.
We study a Monte Carlo algorithm for simulation of probability distributions based on stochastic step functions, and compare to the traditional Metropolis/Hastings method. Unlike the latter, the step function algorithm can produce an uncorrelated Markov chain. We apply this method to the simulation of Levy processes, for which simulation of uncorrelated jumps are essential. We perform numerical tests consisting of simulation from probability distributions, as well as simulation of Levy process paths. The Levy processes include a jump-diffusion with a Gaussian Levy measure, as well as jump-diff…
In this paper, we formulate a stochastic logistic fish growth model driven by both white noise and non-Gaussian noise. We focus our study on the mean time to extinction, escape probability to measure the noise-induced extinction probability and the Fokker-Planck equation for fish population X(t). In the Gaussian case, these quantities satisfy local partial differential equations while in the non-Gaussian case, they satisfy nonlocal partial differential equations. Following a discussion of existence, uniqueness, and stability, we calculate numerical approximations of the solutions of those equa…
We investigate confined Lévy flights under premises of the principle of detailed balance. The master equation admits a transformation to Lévy - Schrödinger semigroup dynamics (akin to a mapping of the Fokker-Planck equation into the generalized diffusion equation). We solve a stochastic targeting problem for arbitrary stability index $0<μ<2$ of Lévy drivers: given an invariant probability density function (pdf), specify the jump - type dynamics for which this pdf is a long-time asymptotic target. Our ("$μ$-targeting") method is exemplified by Cauchy family and Gaussian target pdfs. We solve th…
In this article, we study the stability of solutions to 3D stochastic primitive equations driven by fractional noise. Since the fractional Brownian motion is essentially different from Brownian motion, lots of stochastic analysis tools are not available to study the exponential stability for the stochastic systems. Therefore, apart from the standard method for the case of Brownian motion, we develop a new method to show that 3D stochastic primitive equations driven by fractional noise converge almost surely exponentially to the stationary solutions. This method may be applied to other stochast…
Multistable processes are tangent at each point to a stable process, but where the index of stability and the index of localisability varies along the path. In this work, we give two estimators of the stability and the localisability functions, and we prove the consistency of those two estimators. We illustrate these convergences with two classical examples, the Levy multistable process and the Linear Multifractional Multistable Motion.
