Both lattice simulations and theoretical studies show that the spectral function of the gluon propagator of QCD (in various gauges, as well as for the gauge-invariant Pinch Technique, or PT, propagator) is not non-negative everywhere, although it should be if it has a physical interpretation as in QED. Theory says moreover that the non-positive spectral function of the Landau-gauge or of the PT gluon propagator is further constrained to obey a superconvergence relation (the integral of the spectral function vanishes). We review the theoretical and lattice evidence for violation of positivity as well as various interpretations of this violation, and consider methods for checking superconvergence on the lattice (so far undone). The most common interpretation is that positivity violation implies confinement of gluons, so the gluon propagator does not describe processes with physical gluons. Another more direct and gauge-invariant interpretation arises from the PT: Asymptotic freedom alone demands non-positivity and superconvergence.
We derive new positivity bounds on spin-dependent parton distributions in multicolored QCD. They are stronger than Soffer inequality. We check that the new inequalities are stable under one-loop DGLAP evolution to higher normalization points.
The density matrix positivity is a natural counterpart of unitarity. The resulting constraints for various parton distribution and correlations are considered. Their compatibility with leading order QCD evolution is guaranteed by the probabilistic interpretation of the latter. In the case of non-forward distributions the positivity constraints naturally imply the symmetric form of the evolution equation.
Fourier-positivity, i.e. the mathematical property that a function has a positive Fourier transform, can be used as a constraint on the parametrization of QCD dipole-target cross-sections or Wilson line correlators in transverse position (r) space. They are Bessel transforms of positive transverse momentum dependent gluon distributions. Using mathematical Fourier-positivity constraints on the limit r -> 0 behavior of the dipole amplitudes, we identify the common origin of the violation of Fourier-positivity for various, however phenomenologically convenient, dipole models. It is due to the beh…
In this talk, I try to show that the sign problem of dense QCD is due to modes whose frequency is higher than the chemical potential. An effective theory of quasi-quarks near the Fermi surface has a positive measure in the leading order. The higher-order corrections make the measure complex, but they are suppressed as long as the chemical potential is sufficiently larger than $Λ_{\rm QCD}$. As a consequence of the positivity of the effective theory, we can show that the global vector symmetries except the U(1) baryon number are unbroken at asymptotic density.
We discuss the positivity of the hadron density matrix in QCD. This basic property is shown to be preserved by QCD evolution, provided the relation $|ΔP_{ij}(z)| \leq P_{ij}$ is valid for all kernels for $z < 1$, and the usual "+" prescription is used. We comment on the positivity restrictions for the choice of the NLO factorization scheme for the evolution of the spin-dependent parton distributions.
We address several aspects of gluon propagation at zero and finite temperature. In particular, we study the violation of spectral positivity, we discuss a method to extract the Källén-Lehmann spectral density of a particle (be it elementary or bound state) propagator and apply it to compute gluon spectral densities from lattice data. Furthermore, we also consider the interpretation of the Landau gauge gluon propagator at finite temperature as a massive type bosonic propagator.
As with parton distributions, flexible phenomenological parameterizations of generalized parton distributions (GPDs) are essential for their extraction from data. The large number of constraints imposed on GPDs make simple Lorentz covariant models viable; but, such models are often incomplete in that they employ the impulse approximation. Using the GPD of the pion as a test case, we show that the impulse approximation can lead to violation of the positivity bound required of GPDs. We focus on a particular model of the pion bound-state vertex that was recently proposed and demonstrate that sati…
Spectral positivity is known to be violated by some forms of lattice gauge fixing. The most notable example is lattice Landau gauge, where the effective gluon mass is observed to rise rather than fall with increasing distance. We trace this violation to the use of quenched auxiliary fields in the lattice gauge fixing process, and show that violation of spectral positivity is a general feature of quenching. We illustrate this with a simple quenched mass-mixing model in continuum field theory, and with a quenched form of the Ising model. For lattice gauge fixing associated with Abelian projectio…
We present explicit numerical evidence of reflection-positivity violation for the lattice Landau gluon propagator in three-dimensional pure SU(2) gauge theory. We use data obtained at very large lattice volumes (V = 80^3, 140^3) and for three different lattice couplings in the scaling region (beta = 4.2, 5.0, 6.0). In particular, we observe a clear oscillatory pattern in the real-space propagator C(t). We also verify that the (real-space) data show good scaling in the range t \in [0,3] fm and can be fitted using a Gribov-like form. The violation of positivity is in contradiction with a stable-…
We calculate the quark self-energy at one-loop level at high temperature, taking into account contributions from both the (chromo)electric scale $gT$ and the (chromo)magnetic scale $g^2T$. While reproducing standard massive excitations due to the electric scale, we uncover a novel massless excitation ascribable to the magnetic scale. The residue of this massless excitation is nonpositive at all temperatures, which consequently gives rise to positivity violation in the quark spectral functions. This demonstrates the profound impact of confinement effects on thermal quark collective excitations,…
In the high-energy domain, gluon transverse-momentum dependent distributions in nuclei obey constraints coming from positivity and unitarity of the colorless QCD dipole distributions through Fourier-Bessel transformations. Using mathematical properties of Fourier-positive functions, we investigate the nature of these constraints which apply to dipole model building and formulation
From general analyticity and unitarity requirements on the UV theory, positivity bounds on the Wilson coefficients of the dimension-8 operators composed of 4 fermions and two derivatives appearing in the Standard Model Effective Field Theory have been derived recently. We explore the fate of these bounds in the context of models endowed with a Minimal Flavor Violation (MFV) structure, models in which the flavor structure of higher dimensional operators is inherited from the one already contained in the Yukawa sector of the Standard Model Lagrangian. Our goal is to check whether the general pos…
Positivity bounds for twist-two parton distributions in multicolored QCD are stronger than their analogs at finite $N_c$. They include the enhanced large $N_{c}$ version of Soffer inequality. These bounds are compatible with the DGLAP evolution to higher normalization points.
We show that the Bjorken sum rule for the first moment of the polarized nucleon structure function $g_1$ is not necessarily satisfied in QCD if the axial anomaly is taken into account. We argue that nonperturbative QCD effects should lead to a violation of the sum rule of the order of the percentage isospin violation in current quark masses.
In the QCD factorization (QCDF) approach we study the direct $CP$ violation in $\bar{B}^{0}\rightarrowρ^0(ω)ρ^0(ω)\rightarrowπ^+π^-π^+π^-$ via the $ρ-ω$ mixing mechanism. We find that the $CP$ violation can be enhanced by double $ρ-ω$ mixing when the masses of the $π^+π^-$ pairs are in the vicinity of the $ω$ resonance, and the maximum $CP$ violation can reach 28{\%}. We also compare the results from the naive factorization and the QCD factorization.
In a recent paper (arXive:hep-ph/0406125) entitled {\em Parity violation in hot QCD: why it can happen, and how to look for it}, D. Kharzeev argues for the possibility of P- and/or CP- violation effects in heavy-ion collisions, the effects that can manifest themselves via asymmetry in $π^{\pm}$ production with respect to the direction of the system angular momentum. Here we present an experimental observable that can be used to detect and measure the effects.
In Perturbative QCD (PQCD) approach we study the direct $CP$ violation in the pure annihilation decay process of $\bar{B}^0_{s}\rightarrowπ^+π^-π^+π^-$ induced by the $ρ$ and $ω$ double resonance effect. Generally, the $CP$ violation is small in the pure annihilation type decay process. However, we find that the $CP$ violation can be enhanced by double $ρ-ω$ interference when the invariant masses of the $π^+π^-$ pairs are in the vicinity of the $ω$ resonance. For the decay process of $\bar{B}^0_{s}\rightarrowπ^+π^-π^+π^-$, the maximum $CP$ violation can reach 28.64{\%}.
The explicit one-loop renormalizability of the gluon sector of QCD with Lorentz violation is demonstrated. The result is consistent with multiplicative renormalization as the required counter terms are consistent with a single re-scaling of the Lorentz-violation parameters. In addition, the resulting beta functions indicate that the CPT-even Lorentz-violating terms increase with energy scale in opposition to the asymptotically free gauge coupling and CPT-odd terms. The calculations are performed at lowest-order in the Lorentz-violating terms as they are assumed small.
Parity violation in QCD process is studied using helicity dependent top quark pair productions at Large Hadron Collider experiment. Though no violation can be found in the standard model (SM), new physics beyond the SM predicts the violation in general. In order to evaluate the violation, we utilize an effective operator analysis in a case that new particles predicted by the new physics are too heavy to be directly detected. By using this method, we try to discriminate supersymmetric SM from universal extra-dimension model via an asymmetry measurement of the top quark pair production. We also …
The mass difference of $c$ and $u$ quarks is similar to the energy needed to excite gluonic degrees of freedom in strong QCD. This underpins the degeneracy of $D$ and a recently observed candidate hybrid excitation of the $π$ at$\sim 1.8$GeV and may generate a strong analogue of Penguin mixing together with a measurable CP-violation in $D$ and $D_s$ decays.
Supersymmetric standard model has a parity violation in QCD through chiral quark-squark-gluino interactions with non-degenerate masses between left-handed and right-handed squarks. Since experiments have not show any parity violations in QCD yet, a bound for the mass degeneracy between left-handed and right-handed squarks should exist. In this paper we try to obtain this bound for each squark. At first, we investigate a non-degeneracy bound between $m_{\tilde{c}_L}$ and $m_{\tilde{c}_R}$ from experimental data of charmonium decay. Next, we estimate the non-degeneracy bounds for $\tilde{u}$ and…
In the perturbative QCD (PQCD) approach we study the direct $CP$ violation in $B^+_{c}\rightarrow D_{(s)}^+ρ^0(ω) \rightarrow D_{(s)}^+π^+π^-$ via the $ρ-ω$ mixing mechanism. We find that the $CP$ violation can be enhanced by $ρ-ω$ mixing when the invariant masses of the $π^+π^-$ pairs are in the vicinity of the $ω$ resonance. For the decay process $B^+_{c}\rightarrow D^+ρ^0(ω) \rightarrow D^+π^+π^-$, the maximum $CP$ violation can reach 7.5 {\%}.
In perturbative QCD approach, we study the direct $CP$ violation in the decay of $\bar{B}_s^0\toρ(ω)ϕ\to {π^+}{π^-}ϕ$ via isospin symmetry breaking. An interesting mechanism involving the charge symmetry violating between $ρ$ and $ω$ is applied to enlarge the $CP$ violating asymmetry. We find that the $CP$ violation can be enhanced by the $ρ-ω$ mixing mechanism when the invariant masses of the $π^+π^-$ pairs are in the vicinity of the $ω$ resonance. For the decay process of $\bar{B}^0_{s}\toρ(ω)ϕ\to{π^+}{π^-}ϕ$, the maximum $CP$ violation can reach $5.98\%$. The possibility of detecting the $C…
The nonperturbative modification of the evolution equation for QCD generating functional is applied to the analysis of the factorial moments of the intrajet particle distributions in QCD. Nonperturbative preasymptotic correction to the factorial moments scaling (F-scaling) is calculated. The results are compared with the available experimental data. The data show the possible presence of such a nonperturbative effect.
Three symmetry constraints on the CP violations in QCD are discussed in this paper. In order to generate CP violating observables from QCD, these constraints require: (1) spontaneous chiral symmetry breaking, (2) explicit chiral symmetry breaking, e.g., finite quark masses, (3) $U_A(1)$ anomaly, in addition to a nonzero $\thetabar$ parameter. A pictorial illustration is used to unify and elucidate these constraints and indicate a dual relation between quark mass and the quark condensate. Based on the symmetry constraints, a dynamical suppression scenario to solve the strong CP problem within Q…
We study the impact of the positivity of the measure of CP violation in neutrino oscillations on the values of |V_e3| and |V_mu1|. We use the available information on the solar and atmospheric mixing parameters |V_e2| and |V_mu3| provided by neutrino oscillation data. We conclude that large values of |V_e3| are preferred at 95% confidence level. This, in turn, favours large values for J_lepton compared to CP violation in the quark sector.
Extra dimension is one of the most attractive candidates beyond the Standard Model. In warped extra dimensional space-time, not only gauge hierarchy problem but also quark-lepton mass hierarchy can be naturally explained. In this setup, a sizable parity violation through Kaluza-Klein gluon exchange appears in QCD process such as helicity dependent top pair production. We investigate this QCD parity violating process by use of $SO(5) \times U(1)$ gauge-Higgs unification model. We evaluate LHC observable quantities, i.e., a charge asymmetry and a forward-backward asymmetry of the top pair produc…
Though the operator product expansion is applicable in the calculation of current correlation functions in the Euclidean region, when approaching the Minkowskian domain, violations of quark-hadron duality are expected to occur, due to the presence of bound-state or resonance poles. In QCD finite-energy sum rules, contour integrals in the complex energy plane down to the Minkowskian axis have to be performed, and thus the question arises what the impact of duality violations may be. The structure and possible relevance of duality violations is investigated on the basis of two models: the Coulom…
We discuss several aspects of rare decays and CP violation in the standard model including the impact of the recent top quark discovery. In particular we review the present status of next-to-leading QCD calculations in this field stressing their importance in the determination of the parameters in the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix. We emphasize that the definitive tests of the standard model picture of rare decays and CP violation will come through a {\it simultaneous} study of CP asymmetries in $B_{d,s}^0$ decays, the rare decays $K^+ \to π^+ν\barν$ and $K_L \to π^0ν\barν$, and $(B^0_d-\ba…
We discuss various aspects of parity, CP, and time reversal invariances in QCD. In particular, we focus attention on the previously proposed possibility that these experimentally established symmetries of strong interactions may be broken at finite temperature and/or density. This would have dramatic signatures in relativistic heavy ion collisions; we describe some of the most promising signals.
The model-independent method based on the triangle ideology is implemented to extract the CKM-matrix angle gamma in the decays of doubly heavy long-lived meson B_c. We analyze a color structure of diagrams and conditions to reconstruct two reference-triangles by tagging the flavor and CP eigenstates of D^0 meson in the fixed exclusive channels. The characteristic branching ratios are evaluated in the framework of QCD sum rules.
In the framework of QCD factorization, based on the first order of isospin violation, we study direct CP violation in the decay of $\bar{B}_{s}^{0} \to K^{0}ρ^{0}(ω)\to K^{0}π^{+}π^{-}$ including the effect of $ρ-ω$ mixing. We find that the CP violating asymmetry is large via $ρ-ω$ mixing mechanism when the invariant mass of the $π^{+}π^{-}$ pair is in the vicinity of the $ω$ resonance. For the decay of $\bar{B}_{s}^{0} \to K^{0}ρ^{0}(ω)\to K^{0}π^{+}π^{-}$, the maximum CP violating asymmetries can reach about 46%. We also discuss the possibility to observe the predicted CP violating asymmetri…
We show that the effective field theory of low energy modes in dense QCD has positive Euclidean path integral measure. The complexity of the measure of QCD at finite chemical potential can be ascribed to modes which are irrelevant to the dynamics at sufficiently high density. Rigorous inequalities follow at asymptotic density. Lattice simulation of dense QCD should be possible using the quark determinant calculated in the effective theory.
This review emphasizes the close analogy between hard QCD instanton-induced chirality violating processes in deep-inelastic scattering and electroweak instanton-induced baryon plus lepton number (B+L) violating processes in Quantum Flavor Dynamics (QFD). Recent information about QCD instantons, both from lattice simulations and from the H1 experiment at HERA, can be used to learn about the fate of electroweak B+L violation at future high energy colliders in the hundreds of TeV regime, such as the projected Very Large Hadron Collider (VLHC). The cross-sections turn out to be unobservably small …
Very stringent experimental bounds exist on the amount of P and CP violation in strong interactions. Nevertheless, the presence of non-Abelian topological solutions and the axial anomaly make the issue of CP invariance in QCD non-trivial ("the strong CP problem"). Even in the absence of a global P and CP violation the fluctuations of topological charge in the QCD vacuum are expected to play an important role in the breaking of chiral symmetry, and in the mass spectrum and other properties of hadrons. Here I argue that topological fluctuations in hot QCD matter can become directly observable in…
We investigate the evolution of parton densities at small values of the momentum fraction, x, by including resummed anomalous dimensions in the renormalization group equations. The resummation takes into account the leading-logarithmic contributions (α_S \ln x)^k given by the BFKL equation and the next-to-leading-logarithmic corrections from quark evolution. We present numerical results for the parton densities and the deep inelastic structure function F_2.
Positivity constraints, derived initially assuming parity conservation, for the inclusive reaction of the type $A({spin 1/2})+B({spin 1/2})\to C+X$, where the spins of both initial spin-1/2 particles can be in any possible directions and no polarization is observed in the final state, are generalized to the case of parity violation. By means of a systematic method, we obtain non-trivial bounds involving all the spin observables of the reaction and we discuss some relevant physics processes. Particularly we discover a non-trivial positivity constraint for the processes, $pp\to W^{\pm}/Z^0+X$ or…
We present the QCD corrections to R_b and to the Delta B=1 effective Hamiltonian in models with a second Higgs field that couples to the quarks respecting the criterion of Minimal Flavor Violation, thus belonging either to the (1,2)_1/2 or to the (8,2)_1/2 representation of SU(3)xSU(2)xU(1). After the inclusion of the QCD corrections, the prediction for R_b becomes practically insensitive to the choice of renormalization scheme for the top mass, which for the type-I and type-II models translates in a more robust lower bound on tan(beta). The QCD-corrected determinations of Rb and BR(B->Xs gamm…
Euclidean dense matter generically suffers from the fermion sign problem. However, we argue that the sign problem is absent if one considers only low-energy degrees of freedom. Specifically, the low energy effective theory of dense QCD has positive Euclidean path integral measure, which allows one to establish rigorous inequalities showing that the color-flavor locked (CFL) phase is the true vacuum of three flavor, massless QCD. We then describe a method for simulating dense QCD on the lattice. We also discuss applications to electronic systems in condensed matter, such as generalized Hubbard …

We compute the complete supersymmetric QCD corrections to the Wilson coefficients of the magnetic and chromomagnetic operators, relevant in the calculation of b -> s gamma decays, in the MSSM with Minimal Flavor Violation. We investigate the numerical impact of the new results for different choices of the MSSM parameters and of the scale where the quark and squark mass matrices are assumed to be aligned. We find that the corrections can be important when the superpartners are relatively light, and that they depend sizeably on the scale of alignment. Finally, we discuss how our calculation can …
We consider the positivity bounds on dimension-8 four-electron operators and study two related phenomenological aspects at future lepton colliders. First, if positivity is violated, probing such violations will revolutionize our understanding of the fundamental pillars of quantum field theory and the $S$-matrix theory. We observe that positivity violation at scales of 1--10 TeV can potentially be probed at future lepton colliders even if one assumes that dimension-6 operators are also present. Second, the positive nature of the dimension-8 parameter space often allows us to either directly inf…
We study the three positivity constraints among the eight virtual photon structure functions, derived from the Cauchy-Schwarz inequality and which are hence model-independent. The photon structure functions obtained from the simple parton model show quite different behaviors in a massive quark or a massless quark case, but they satisfy, in both cases, the three positivity constraints. We then discuss an inequality which holds among the unpolarized and polarized photon structure functions $F_1^γ$, $g_1^γ$ and $W_{TT}^τ$, in the kinematic region $Λ^2\ll P^2 \ll Q^2$, where $-Q^2 (-P^2)$ is the m…
The appearance of the triangle graph infra-red axial anomaly in reduced quark loops contributing to QCD triple-regge interactions is studied. In a dispersion relation formalism, the anomaly can only be present in the contributions of unphysical triple discontinuities. In this paper an asymptotic discontinuity analysis is applied to high-order feynman diagrams to show that the anomaly does indeed occur in sufficiently high-order reggeized gluon interactions. The reggeon states involved must contain reggeized gluon combinations with the quantum numbers of the anomaly (winding-number) current. A …
We have re-analyzed the world data on inclusive polarized DIS, in both NLO and LO QCD, including the very precise JLab Hall A neutron data, and have studied the role of positivity constraints, and demonstrated their importance, in determining the strange and gluon densities. We have shown that higher twist corrections are essential in the analysis of the present data on the structure function g1. A consistent QCD analysis is achieved, and results for the polarized parton densities are given in both the MSbare and JET schemes.
The strong CP-violating parameter is small today as indicated by constraints on the neutron electric dipole moment. In the early universe, the QCD axion has not yet relaxed to its QCD-cancelling minimum and it is natural to wonder whether this large CP violation could be responsible for baryogenesis. We show that strong CP violation from the QCD axion can be responsible for the matter antimatter asymmetry of the universe in the context of cold electroweak (EW) baryogenesis if the EW phase transition is delayed below the GeV scale. This can occur naturally if the Higgs couples to a O(100) GeV d…
We analyze the extraction of weak phases from CP violation in $B\toπ^+π^-$ decays. By combining the information on mixing induced CP violation in $B\toπ^+π^-$, namely $S_{ππ}$, with the precision observable $\sin 2β$ obtained from the ``gold-plated''mode $B\toψK_S$, we propose the determination of the unitarity triangle. We also discuss alternative ways to analyze $S_{ππ}$ which can be useful if new physics affects $B_d$--$\bar B_d$ mixing. Predictions and uncertainties for $r$ and $ϕ$ in QCD factorization are examined in detail. It is pointed out that a simultaneous expansion in $1/m_b$ and $…
We critically examine the QCD predictions for the $Q^2$ dependence of the electron-proton deep-inelastic structure function $F_2(x,Q^2)$ in the small $x$ region, which is being probed at HERA. The standard results based on next-to-leading order Altarelli-Parisi evolution are compared with those that follow from the BFKL equation, which corresponds to the resummation of the leading log$(1/x)$ terms. The effects of parton screening are also quantified. The theoretical predictions are confronted with each other, and with existing data from HERA. (3 Postscript figures included).
The summary of the results of our next-to-next-to-leading fits of Tevatron experimental data for $xF_3$ structure function of the $νN$ deep-inelastic scattering is given. The special attention is paid to the extraction of twist-4 contributions and demonstration of the interplay between these effects and higher-order perturbative QCD corrections. The factorization and renormalization scale uncertainties of the results obtained are analysed
In a previous paper it has been shown that the infra-red divergence associated with the triangle graph axial anomaly can occur in triple-regge multi-reggeon interactions due to unphysical asymptotic triple discontinuities. In this paper an asymptotic discontinuity analysis is applied to high-order feynman diagrams to show that the anomaly exists in contributions to the triple-regge nine-reggeon interaction. This implies that the anomaly occurs in the interactions of reggeon states that have the quantum numbers of the anomaly current and establishes a direct connection with the well-known U(1) …
In this paper, we calculate the branching ratio and direct CP asymmetry parameter of $B_c^{\pm}\to D^{0}K^{\pm}$ in the framework of perturbative QCD approach based on $k_T$ factorization. Besides the usual factorizable diagrams, both non-factorizable and annihilation type contributions are taken into account. We find that (a) the branching ratio is at the order of $10^{-5}$; (b) the tree annihilation diagrams and the penguin diagrams dominate the total contribution; and (c) the direct CP asymmetry is about 7%, which can be tested in the Large Hadron Collider beauty experiments (LHC-b) at CERN…
The title of my talk pointed out central statements: the impact of non-perturbative QCD on {\bf CP} asymmetries in many-body FS in charm \& beauty hadrons. For practical reasons one measures first {\bf CP} violation in two-body final states of heavy flavor hadrons. However, those are small parts of charm hadrons and tiny ones for beauty hadrons; therefore one has to probe {\bf CP} asymmetries in three- \& four-body final states. Thus the transitions to the many-body FS basically give information about the underlying dynamics. The impact of non-perturbative QCD on {\bf CP} asymmetries in many-b…
It is shown, that specific chirality and flavor properties of the instanton-induced interaction allow us to explain the observed violation Ellis-Jaffe and Gottfried sum rules. A large value of these violations originates from the anomalous growth of the instanton-induced interaction between quarks at high energy. The new sum rule which connect the values of violations of Ellis-Jaffe and Gottfried sum rules have been obtained.
We study the decay modes of B_{s}^{0}(\bar{B}_{s}^{0})-->D_{s}^{\pm} K^{\mp}, B_{s}^{0}(\bar{B}_{s}^{0})-->D^{\pm} π^{\mp} and B^{0}(\bar{B}^{0})-->D^{\pm} π^{\mp} in the perterbative QCD approach based on k_T factorization, including the branching ratios and CP violation parameters which provide a clear way to extract the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa angle γ. Our results of branching ratios of B_{s}^{0}(\bar{B}_{s}^{0})-->D_{s}^{\pm} K^{\mp} and B^{0}(\bar{B}^{0})--> D^{\pm} π^{\mp} and the CP asymmetry of B^{0}(\bar{B}^{0})--> D^{\pm} π^{\mp} agree well with the experimental data. We also give …
QCD sum-rules are related to an integral of a hadronic spectral function, and hence must satisfy integral inequalities which follow from positivity of the spectral function. Development of these Holder inequalities and their application to the Laplace sum-rule for pions lead to a lower bound on the average of the non-strange 2 GeV light-quark masses in the MS-bar scheme.
We show that, in the heavy quark limit, the hadronic matrix elements that enter $B$ meson decays into two light mesons can be computed from first principles, including `non-factorizable' strong interaction corrections, and expressed in terms of form factors and meson light-cone distribution amplitudes. The conventional factorization result follows in the limit when both power corrections in $1/m_b$ and radiative corrections in $α_s$ are neglected. We compute the order-$α_s$ corrections to the decays $B_d\toπ^+π^-$, $B_d\toπ^0π^0$ and $B^+\toπ^+π^0$ in the heavy quark limit and briefly discuss …
We explore some of the constraints imposed by positivity of the QCD measure (Weingarten's inequalities) on the parameters defining chiral perturbation theory. We find, in particular, that $2 m_q (μ)\leq B_0(μ) Z(μ)$. The use of further properties of the exact fermion propagator yields information on some higher order parameters.
We analyse the so-called violations of quark-hadron duality in Finite Energy Sum Rules with the LR correlator, through the study of the possible high-energy behavior of the LR spectral function, taking into account all known short-distance constraints and the experimental tau-decay data. In particular we show that the use of pinched weights allows to determine with high accuracy the dimension six and eight contributions in the Operator-Product Expansion, O_6 = (-4.3^{+0.9}_{-0.7}) 10^{-3} GeV^6 and O_8 = (-7.2^{+4.2}_{-5.3}) 10^{-3} GeV^8.
