Fractional variational problems depending on fractional derivatives of differentiable functions with application to nonlinear chaotic systems

In the present work, we formulate a necessary condition for functionals with Lagrangians depending on fractional derivatives of differentiable functions to possess an extremum. The Euler-Lagrange equation we obtained generalizes previously known results in the literature and enables us to construct simple Lagrangians for nonlinear systems. As examples of application, we obtain Lagrangians for some chaotic dynamical systems.

Chaotic and pseudochaotic attractors of perturbed fractional oscillator

We consider a nonlinear oscillator with fractional derivative of the order alpha. Perturbed by a periodic force, the system exhibits chaotic motion called fractional chaotic attractor (FCA). The FCA is compared to the ``regular'' chaotic attractor. The properties of the FCA are discussed and the ``pseudochaotic'' case is demonstrated.

Existence and Uniqueness of the Solution to a Nonlinear Differential Equation with Caputo Fractional Derivative in the Space of Continuously Differentiable Functions

In the paper, we considered the existence and uniqueness of the global solution in the space of continuously differentiable functions for a nonlinear differential equation with the Caputo fractional derivative of general form. Our main method is to derive an integral equation corresponding to the original nonlinear fractional differential equation and to prove their eqivalence. Once we prove the equivalence, then the proof of existence and uniquness of solution can be done by standard way of using Banach fixed point theorem.

Series expansion in fractional calculus and fractional differential equations

Fractional calculus is the calculus of differentiation and integration of non-integer orders. In a recently paper (Annals of Physics 323 (2008) 2756-2778), the Fundamental Theorem of Fractional Calculus is highlighted. Fractional embeddings and stochastic time

As a model problem for the study of chaotic Hamiltonian systems, we look for the effects of a long-tail distribution of recurrence times on a fixed Hamiltonian dynamics. We follow Stanislavsky's approach of Hamiltonian formalism for fractional systems. We prove that his formalism can be retrieved from the fractional embedding theory. We deduce that the fractional Hamiltonian systems of Stanislavsky stem from a particular least action principle, said causal. In this case, the fractional embedding becomes coherent.

Expression of Generalized Newton Iteration Method via Generalized Local Fractional Taylor Series

Local fractional derivative and integrals are revealed as one of useful tools to deal with everywhere continuous but nowhere differentiable functions in fractal areas ranging from fundamental science to engineering. In this paper, a generalized Newton iteration method derived from the generalized local fractional Taylor series with the local fractional derivatives is reviewed. Linear and fractional response for nonlinear dissipative SPDEs

A framework to establish response theory for a class of nonlinear stochastic partial differential equations (SPDEs) is provided. The notion of fractional dynamics is related to equations of motion with one or a few terms with derivatives of a fractional order. Fractional Loop Group and Twisted K-Theory

We study the structure of abelian extensions of the group $L_qG$ of $q$-differentiable loops (in the Sobolev sense), generalizing from the case of central extension of the smooth loop group. This is motivated by the aim of understanding the problems with current algebras in higher dimensions. Highest weight modules are constructed for the Lie algebra.
