A selection of recent searches for Supersymmetry conducted by the ATLAS and CMS collaborations is presented, summarizing the relevant results for inclusive squark and gluino production at the LHC. No indication for the existence of Supersymmetry in terms of an excess above the Standard Model background is seen by any analysis, therefore limits are reported on parameters of the various models used to interpret the findings.
Despite the absence of experimental evidence, weak scale supersymmetry remains one of the best motivated and studied Standard Model extensions. This report summarises recent ATLAS results on inclusive searches for supersymmetric squarks and gluinos, including third generation squarks produced in the decay of gluinos. Results are presented for both R-parity conserving and R-parity violating scenarios, with final states containing jets with and without missing transverse momentum, light leptons, taus or photons.
Squarks and gluinos have been searched for at hadron colliders in events with multiple jets and missing transverse energy. No excess has been observed to date, and from a comparison of experimental cross section limits and theoretical cross section predictions one can deduce lower bounds on the squark and gluino masses. We present an improved analysis of squark and gluino mass bounds which is based on state-of-the-art cross section calculations including the summation of large threshold corrections. For illustration, we consider experimental data obtained by the CDF collaboration at the Fermil…
Dirac gauginos are a well-motivated extension of the MSSM, leading to interesting phenomenological consequences. At the LHC, gluino-pair production is enhanced while squark production is suppressed as compared to the MSSM, and the decay signatures are altered by a more complex chargino and neutralino spectrum. We investigate how this impacts current gluino and squark mass limits from Run~2 of the LHC. Concretely, we compare different assumptions about the electroweak-ino spectrum through four benchmark models paying particular attention to the effect of the trilinear $λ_S$ coupling, which indu…
We describe an extension of the SOFTSUSY spectrum calculator to include two-loop supersymmetric QCD (SUSYQCD) corrections of order $\mathcal{O}(α_s^2)$ to gluino and squark pole masses, either in the minimal supersymmetric standard model (MSSM) or the next-to-minimal supersymmetric standard model (NMSSM). This document provides an overview of the program and acts as a manual for the new version of SOFTSUSY, which includes the increase in accuracy in squark and gluino pole mass predictions.
We study the effect of squark-generation mixing on gluino decays in the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM). We show that due to the effect the quark-flavor violating (QFV) gluino decay branching ratio B(gluino -> c bar{t} (t bar{c}) + neutralino_1) can be very large (up to ~50%) in a significant part of the MSSM parameter space despite the very strong experimental constraints on QFV from B meson observables. This could have an important impact on the search for gluinos and the determination of the MSSM parameters at LHC.
In the general MSSM, first and second generation squarks and gluinos may be sufficiently light to be produced and studied at $e^+e^-$ colliders operating in the 0.5-1 TeV energy range. After a reminder that the MSSM is {\it not} the same as mSUGRA, we provide a brief overview of these possibilities within this more general framework
We study constraints from LHC run I on squark and gluino masses in the presence of squark flavor violation. Inspired by the concept of `flavored naturalness', we focus on the impact of a non-zero stop-scharm mixing and mass splitting in the right-handed sector. To this end, we recast four searches of the ATLAS and CMS collaborations, dedicated either to third generation squarks, to gluino and squarks of the first two generations, or to charm-squarks. In the absence of extra structure, the mass of the gluino provides an additional source of fine tuning and is therefore important to consider wit…
We study the effects of squark generation mixing on squark and gluino production and decays at LHC in the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM) with focus on the mixing between second and third generation squarks. Taking into account the constraints from B-physics experiments we show that various regions in parameter space exist where decays of squarks and/or gluinos into quark flavour violating (QFV) final states can have large branching ratios. Here we consider both fermionic and bosonic decays of squarks. Rates of the corresponding QFV signals, e.g. pp -> t t bar{c} bar{c} missing-E_…
We show that upper bounds on the masses for gluino, squarks and higgsino are $m_{gluino} \le 5.5$ TeV, $m_{squark} \le 4.7$ TeV and $m_{higgsino} \le 650$ GeV in a focus point gaugino mediation. Here, we impose a mild fine tuning $Δ\le 100$. This result shows that it is very challenging for the LHC to exclude the focus point gaugino mediation with the mild fine tuning. However, the ILC may have a potential for excluding the focus point gaugino mediation with such a mild fine tuning. It is also shown that vector-like matters reduce the required masses of the squark (stop) and gluino to explain …
We present predictions for the total cross sections for pair production of squarks and gluinos at the LHC including a combined NNLL resummation of soft and Coulomb gluon effects. We derive all terms in the NNLO cross section that are enhanced near the production threshold, which include contributions from spin-dependent potentials and so-called annihilation corrections. The NNLL corrections at $\sqrt{s}=13$ TeV range from up to $20\%$ for squark-squark production to $90\%$ for gluino pair production relative to the NLO results and reduce the theoretical uncertainties of the perturbative calcul…
We study gluino decays in the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM) with squark generation mixing. We show that the effect of this mixing on the gluino decay branching ratios can be very large in a significant part of the MSSM parameter space despite the very strong experimental constraints on quark flavour violation (QFV) from B meson observables. Especially we find that under favourable conditions the branching ratio of the the QFV gluino decay gluino -> c bar{t} (bar{c} t) + neutralino_1 can be as large as about 50%. We also find that the squark generation mixing can result in a mult…
We study the prospect of determining the decay properties of the gluino in the supersymmetric (SUSY) standard model at a 100 TeV future hadron collider. We consider the case where the neutral Wino is the lightest superparticle. In this case, the long-lived charged Wino can be used to eliminate standard model backgrounds, which enables us to study the details of superparticles. We show that, based on the analysis of the numbers of high $p_T$ leptons, boosted $W$-jets, and $b$-tagged jets, we may determine the gaugino species and the quark flavors in the gluino decay. With such determinations, w…
We study the monojet and dijet channels at the LHC as a tool for searching for squarks and gluinos. We consider two separate R-parity conserving supersymmetric scenarios. In the first scenario we postulate a large mass hierarchy between squarks ($\tilde q$) and winos ($\widetilde W$), and wino-like neutralino is assumed to be the lightest supersymmetric particle (LSP). The associated squark-wino production, $pp \to \tilde q \widetilde W$, then leads to a monojet-like signature, where the high $p_T$ jet is originated from the squark decay, $\tilde q \to q + \widetilde W$. We demonstrate that th…
We study the effect of squark-generation mixing on production and decays of squarks and gluinos at LHC in the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM). We show that the mixing effects can be very large in a significant range of the squark-generation mixing parameters despite the very strong constraints on quark-flavour violation (QFV) from experimental data on B mesons. We find that under favourable conditions the QFV decay branching ratio B(gluino -> c bar{t} (t bar{c}) neutralino_1) can be as large as about 50%, which may lead to significant QFV signals at LHC. We also find that the squa…
We reinterpret the generic CDF charged massive particle limit to obtain a limit on the mass of a stable or long-lived gluino. Various sources of uncertainty are examined. The $R$-hadron spectrum and scattering cross sections are modeled based on known low-energy hadron physics and the resultant uncertainties are quantified and found to be small compared to uncertainties from the scale dependence of the NLO pQCD production cross sections. The largest uncertainty in the limit comes from the unknown squark mass: when the squark -- gluino mass splitting is small, we obtain a gluino mass limit of 4…
We present predictions of the total cross sections for pair production of squarks and gluinos at the LHC, including the stop-antistop production process. Our calculation supplements full fixed-order NLO predictions with resummation of threshold logarithms and Coulomb singularities at next-to-leading logarithmic (NLL) accuracy, including bound-state effects. The numerical effect of higher-order Coulomb terms can be as big or larger than that of soft-gluon corrections. For a selection of benchmark points accessible with data from the 2010-2012 LHC runs, resummation leads to an enhancement of the…
We examine the discovery potential for SUSY new physics at a p{\bar p} collider upgrade of Tevatron with \sqrt s = 5.4 TeV and luminosity L ~= 4\times 10^{32} cm^{-2}s^{-1} (the Tripler). We consider the reach for gluinos and squarks using the experimental signatures with large missing transverse energy (\met) of jets + \met and 1l + jets + \met (where l=electron or muon) within the framework of minimal supergravity. The Tripler's strongest reach for the gluino is 1060 GeV for the jets + \met channel and 1140 GeV for the 1l + jets + \met channel for 30 fb^{-1} of integrated luminosity (approxi…
We study the impact of the jets and missing transverse momentum SUSY analyses of the ATLAS experiment on the phenomenological MSSM (pMSSM). We investigate sets of SUSY models with a flat and logarithmic prior in the SUSY mass scale and a mass range up to 1 and 3 TeV, respectively. These models were found previously in the study 'Supersymmetry without Prejudice'. Removing models with long-lived SUSY particles, we show that 99% of 20000 randomly generated pMSSM model points with a flat prior and 87% for a logarithmic prior are excluded by the ATLAS results. For models with squarks and gluinos be…
In supersymmetric models a gluino can decay into tb\tildeχ^{\pm}_1 through a stop or a sbottom. The decay chain produces an edge structure in the m_{tb} distribution. Monte Carlo simulation studies show that the end point and the edge height would be measured at the CERN LHC by using a sideband subtraction technique. The stop and sbottom masses as well as their decay branching ratios are constrained by the measurement. We study interpretations of the measurement in the minimal supergravity model. We also study the gluino decay into tb and \tildeχ^{\pm}_2 as well as the influence of the stop le…
We study the potential of high-energy photon colliders for the production of gluino pairs within the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM). In this model, the process gamma gamma -> gluino gluino is mediated by quark/squark box diagrams with enhancements for up-type quarks/squarks from their larger charges and for third generation squarks from their large mass splittings, generated by the mixing of left- and right-handed states. Far above threshold and in scenarios with very heavy squarks, resolved photons can contribute significantly at tree level. Taking into account the laser photon …
Quark flavour conserving (QFC) fermionic squark decays, such as ~t_{1,2} -> t neutralino_i, are usually assumed in squark search analyses. Here we study quark flavour violating (QFV) bosonic squark decays, such as ~u_2 -> ~u_1 h^0/Z^0, where the mass eigenstates ~u_{1,2} are mixtures of scharm and stop quarks. We show that the branching ratios of such QFV decays can be very large due to sizable ~c_R - ~t_{R/L} and ~t_R - ~t_L mixing effects despite the very strong constraints on the QFV parameters from B meson data. This can result in remarkable QFV signatures with significant rates at LHC (14…
This paper examines unexplored correlations in the parameter spaces probed by recent ATLAS analyses for gluinos and squarks, addressing various shortcomings in the literature. Six 13 TeV ATLAS analyses based on 3.2 fb$^{-1}$ of integrated luminosity are interpreted in the 19-parameter R-parity conserving phenomenological minimal supersymmetric extension to the Standard Model (pMSSM). The distinct regions covered by each search are independent of prior, and we reveal particularly striking complementarity between the 2-6 jets and Multi-b searches. In the leptonic searches, we identify better sen…
We report on a search for inclusive production of squarks and gluinos in ppbar collisions at sqrt{s}=1.96 TeV, in events with large missing transverse energy and multiple jets of hadrons in the final state. The study uses a CDF Run II data sample corresponding to 2 fb-1 of integrated luminosity. The data are in good agreement with the standard model predictions, giving no evidence for any squark or gluino component. In an R-parity conserving minimal supergravity scenario with A_0 = 0, mu < 0 and tanbeta = 5, 95% C.L. upper limits on the production cross sections in the range between 0.1 pb and…
We present results of the first search for like-sign dilepton (ee, eμ, μμ) events associated with multijets and large missing energy using 106 pb^-1 of data in p-pbar collisions at sqrt(s)=1.8 TeV collected during 1992-95 by the CDF experiment. Finding no events that pass our selection, we examine pair-production of gluinos and squarks in a constrained framework of the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model. At tan_beta = 2 and μ=-800 GeV/c^2, we set 95% confidence level limits of M(gluino) > 221 GeV/c^2 for M(gluino) \simeq M(squark), and M(gluino) > 168 GeV/c^2 for M(squark) \gg M(gluino), bo…
We study the compatibility of a light bottom squark M_{\tilde b}< O(10 GeV) in the unconstrained MSSM. We consider the one-loop radiative corrections which are large for a heavy gluino (> O(150 GeV)). We then consider the renormalization group flow up to the Grand Unified scale. For most regions of the parameter space with a light sbottom we find colour and charge breaking minima. Only a small window in gluino mass and tan(beta) is consistent with all bounds. This is alleviated by a light gluino, which is however only marginally experimentally allowed.
In principle particle spins can be measured from their production cross sections once their mass is approximately known. The method works in practice because spins are quantized and cross sections depend strongly on spins. It can be used to determine, for example, the spin of the top quark. Direct application of this method to supersymmetric theories will have to overcome the challenge of measuring mass at the LHC, which could require high statistics. In this article, we propose a method of measuring the spins of the colored superpatners by combining rate information for several channels and a…
Searches for stable, hadronizing scalar quarks and gluinos are performed using the data collected with the ALEPH detector at LEP. Gluon splitting into a gluino or a squark pair is searched for at centre-of-mass energies around the Z resonance, in the e+e- -> q qbar gluino gluino and q qbar squark antisquark processes. Stable squark pair production, and stop pair production with subsequent decays into a stable gluino, stop -> c gluino, are also directly searched for at centre-of-mass energies from 183 to 209 GeV. Altogether, stable hadronizing stop (sbottom) quarks are excluded up to masses of …
A search for squarks and gluinos in final states containing jets, missing transverse momentum and no electrons or muons is presented. The data were recorded by the ATLAS experiment in sqrt(s) = 7 TeV proton-proton collisions at the Large Hadron Collider. No excess above the Standard Model background expectation was observed in 35 inverse picobarns of analysed data. Gluino masses below 500 GeV are excluded at the 95% confidence level in simplified models containing only squarks of the first two generations, a gluino octet and a massless neutralino. The exclusion increases to 870 GeV for equal m…

No excess above the Standard Model background expectation is observed in 1.04 fb^-1 of data. Gluino and squark masses below 700 GeV and 875 GeV respectively are excluded at the 95% confidence level in simplified models containing only squarks of the first two generations, a gluino octet and a massless neutralino. The exclusion limit increase…
This contribution reports on preliminary measurements on searches for squarks and gluinos at CDF and DØdetectors in $p\bar{p}$ collisions at $\sqrt{s}=1.96$ TeV. The analyses are performed using event topologies with multiple jets and large missing energy in the final state. The mSUGRA scenario and R-parity conservation is assumed. No excess with respect to the Standard Model predictions is observed and new limits on the gluino and squark masses are extracted.
We present preliminary results on a search for squarks and gluinos in proton-antiproton collisions with a center-of-mass energy of 1.96 TeV and based on about 2.0 fb-1 of data collected by the CDF detector in the Tevatron Run II. Events with multiple jets of hadrons and large missing transverse energy in the final state are studied within the framework of minimal supergravity (mSUGRA) and assuming R-parity conservation. The results are compared to Standard Model predictions and limits on gluino and squark masses are extracted. A specific search for the supersymmetric partner of the bottom quar…

A search for squarks and gluinos in final states containing jets, missing transverse momentum and no high-pT electrons or muons is presented. The data represent the complete sample recorded in 2011 by the ATLAS experiment in 7 TeV proton-proton collisions at the Large Hadron Collider, with a total integrated luminosity of 4.7 fb^-1. No excess above the Standard Model background expectation is observed. The results of a search for squarks and gluinos using data from ppbar collisions recorded at a center-of-mass energy of 1.96 TeV by the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider are reported. The topologies analyzed consist of acoplanar-jet and multijet events with large missing transverse energy. No evidence for the production of squarks or gluinos was found in a data sample of 310 pb-1. Lower limits of 325 and 241 GeV were derived at the 95% C.L. on the squark and gluino masses, respectively, within the framework of minimal supergravity with tan(beta)=3, A0=0, and mu<0.
We report on D0 searches for scalar quarks (tilde-q) and gluinos (tilde-g), the superpartners of quark and gluons, in topologies involving jets and missing transverse energies. Data samples obtained with D0 detector from proton anti-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 1.96 TeV corresponding to an intergrated luminosities of 1-4 inverse-fb were analyzed. No evidence for the production of such particles were observed and lower limits on squarks and gluino masses were set.
Weak scale supersymmetry is one of the best motivated and studied Standard Model extensions. It predicts the existence of new heavy coloured particles called squarks and gluinos which are the supersymmetric partners of the quarks and gluons, respectively. The poster summarises results on inclusive searches for supersymmetric squarks and gluinos in events containing jets and missing transverse momentum without leptons. The searches use the full data sample recorded in 2012 at $\sqrt{s}$=8~TeV centre-of-mass energy by the ATLAS experiment at the LHC.
This letter reports the results of a search for top and bottom squarks from gluino pair production in 4.7 fb^-1 of pp collisions at sqrt(s) = 7 TeV using the ATLAS detector at the LHC. The search is performed in events with large missing transverse momentum and at least three jets identified as originating from a b-quark. Exclusion limits are presented for a variety of gluino-mediated models with gluino masses up to 1 TeV excluded.
A search for scalar quarks and gluinos is performed with 0.96 fb^{-1} of data collected by the DO experiment in p\bar{p} collisions at \sqrt{s}=1.96 TeV at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. The topologies analyzed consist of acoplanar jets and multijet events with missing transverse energy. We find the data to be consistent with Standard Model expectations, and set 95% C.L. exclusion domains in the squark and gluino mass plane and in the (m_0, m_{1/2}) plane, within the framework of minimal supergravity with tanβ=3, A_0=0 and μ<0.
Despite the great success of the Standard Model, it still does not explain Dark Matter, matter/antimatter asymmetry and it does not unite the electroweak and the strong forces. As a possible solution, the theory of Supersymmetry was proposed. In this paper, three searches for strong production Supersymmetry are presented. The data correspond to a total integrated luminosity of 137 fb$^{-1}$ at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV, recorded at the Large Hadron Collider during the years 2015-2018. There has been no significant excess observed relative to the Standard Model predictions. The data gav…
We analyse the prospect of extending the reach for squarks and gauginos via associated production at a $\sqrt{s} = 100$ TeV proton-proton collider, given 3 ab$^{-1}$ integrated luminosity. Depending on the gluino mass, the discovery reach for squarks in associated production with a gluino can be up to 37 TeV for compressed spectra (small gluino-LSP mass splitting), and up to 32 TeV for non-compressed spectra. The discovery reach for Winos can be up to between 3.5 and 6 TeV depending on squark masses and Wino decay kinematics. Binos of up to 1.7 TeV could similarly be discovered. Squark-gaugino…
These proceedings summarize the results of four analyses which searched for squarks and gluinos in hadronic final states with missing transverse momentum in 2.3 fb$^{-1}$ of data in proton-proton collisions at $\sqrt{s}=13$ TeV collected in the year 2015 with the CMS detector at the CERN LHC. Each analysis is characterized by a different kinematic variable that is sensitive to the presence of invisible particles, e.g., $M_\text{T2}$, $α_{\text{T}}$, and razor variables. We observed no significant deviation from the standard model prediction and placed limits on the production cross sections an…
A data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 2.1 fb-1 collected by the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider was analyzed to search for squarks and gluinos produced in ppbar collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 1.96 TeV. No evidence for the production of such particles was observed in topologies involving jets and missing transverse energy, and 95% C.L. lower limits of 379 GeV and 308 GeV were set on the squark and gluino masses, respectively, within the framework of minimal supergravity with tan(beta)=3, A0=0, and mu<0. The corresponding previous limits are improved …
We explore the implications of 7 TeV LHC searches for a scenario in which one of the stops is the next-to lightest supersymmetric particle (NLSP). The NLSP stop (\tilde{t}_1) is assumed to decay exclusively into neutralino and charm quark. We consider processes where the stops are pair produced together with a hard QCD jet. We also consider stop quarks from gluino decays, \tilde{g}\to t\tilde{t}_1^\ast+\bar{t}\tilde{t}_1. We show that the monojet ATLAS and CMS searches corresponding to 1 fb^{-1} of integrated luminosity are sensitive to stop masses of up to 160 GeV, with the 20% neutralino-sto…
Recent results obtained by the D0 Collaboration on searches for squarks and gluinos in proton-antiproton collisions at sqrt(s) =1.96 TeV at the Fermilab Tevatron collider are discussed. For the inclusive searches, events with multiple jets of hadrons and large missing transverse energy in the final state are studied within the framework of minimal supergravity and assuming R-parity conservation. Searches for the scalar top quark are studied in two final state topologies: with events of two charm jets and large missing transverse energy or leptons, jets and missing transverse energy. The data, …
Using data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 79 pb-1, D0 has searched for events containing multiple jets and large missing transverse energy in pbar-p collisions at sqrt(s)=1.8 TeV at the Fermilab Tevatron collider. Observing no significant excess beyond what is expected from the standard model, we set limits on the masses of squarks and gluinos and on the model parameters m_0 and m_1/2, in the framework of the minimal low-energy supergravity models of supersymmetry. For tan(beta) = 2 and A_0 = 0, with mu < 0, we exclude all models with m_squark < 250 GeV/c^2. For models with equal…
In the minimal supersymmetric standard model (MSSM) properties of the third generation sfermions are important from the viewpoint of discriminating the SUSY breaking models and in the determination of the Higgs boson mass. If gluinos are copiously produced at CERN LHC, gluino decays into tb through stop and sbottom can be studied using hadronic decays of the top quark. The kinematical endpoint of the gluino decays can be evaluated using a W sideband method to estimate combinatorial backgrounds. This implies that fundamental parameters related to the third generation squarks can be reliably mea…
Gluinos are produced pairwise at the LHC in quark-antiquark and gluon-gluon collisions: $qqbar,gg \to \tilde{g} \tilde{g}$. While the individual polarization of gluinos vanishes in the limit in which the small mass difference between L and R squarks of the first two generations is neglected, non-zero spin-spin correlations are predicted within gluino pairs. If the squark/quark charges in Majorana gluino decays are tagged, the spin correlations have an impact on the energy and angular distributions in reconstructed final states. On the other hand, the gluino polarization in single gluino produc…
A search for squarks and gluinos in final states containing high-$p_{\rm T}$ jets, missing transverse momentum and no electrons or muons is presented. The data were recorded in 2012 by the ATLAS experiment in $\sqrt{s}=8$ TeV proton-proton collisions at the Large Hadron Collider, with a total integrated luminosity of $20.3 \mathrm{fb}^{-1}$. No significant excess above the Standard Model expectation is observed. Results are interpreted in a variety of simplified and specific supersymmetry-breaking models assuming that R-parity is conserved and that the lightest neutralino is the lightest super…
We present updated predictions for the cross-sections for pair production of squarks and gluinos at the LHC Run II. First of all, we update the calculations based on NLO+NLL partonic cross-sections by using the NNPDF3.0NLO global analysis. This study includes a full characterization of theoretical uncertainties from higher orders, PDFs and the strong coupling. Then, we explore the implications for this calculation of the recent NNPDF3.0 PDFs with NLO+NLL threshold resummation. We find that the shift in the results induced by the threshold-improved PDFs is within the total theory uncertainty ba…
Simple SUSY GUT models based on the gauge group SO(10) require t-b-τYukawa coupling unification, in addition to gauge coupling and matter unification. The Yukawa coupling unification places strong constraints on the expected superparticle mass spectrum, with scalar masses \sim 10 TeV while gluino masses are much lighter: in the 300--500 GeV range. The very heavy squarks suppress negative interference in the q\bar{q}\to\tg\tg cross section, leading to a large enhancement in production rates. The gluinos decay almost always via three-body modes into a pair of b-quarks, so we expect at least four…
A search for the supersymmetric partners of quarks and gluons (squarks and gluinos) in final states containing hadronic jets and missing transverse momentum, but no electrons or muons, is presented. The data used in this search were recorded in 2015 and 2016 by the ATLAS experiment in $\sqrt{s}$=13 TeV proton--proton collisions at the Large Hadron Collider, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 36.1 fb$^{-1}$. The results are interpreted in the context of various models where squarks and gluinos are pair-produced and the neutralino is the lightest supersymmetric particle. An exclusion l…

The results are interpreted in the context of various $R$-parity-conserving models where squarks and gluinos are produced in pairs or in association and a neutral…
The results of a search for squarks and gluinos in final states with an isolated electron or muon, multiple jets and large missing transverse momentum using proton--proton collision data at a center-of-mass energy of $\sqrt{s}$ = 13 TeV are presented. The dataset used was recorded during 2015 and 2016 by the ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider and corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 36.1 $fb^{-1}$. No significant excess beyond the expected background is found. Exclusion limits at 95% confidence level are set in a number of supersymmetric scenarios, reaching masses up to 2.1 Te…
Experimental bounds on squarks of the first two generations assume their masses to be eightfold degenerate, and consequently constrain them to be heavier than ~ 1.4 TeV when the gluino is lighter than 2.5 TeV. The assumption of squark-mass universality is neither a direct consequence of Minimal Flavor Violation (MFV), which allows for splittings within squark generations, nor a prediction of supersymmetric alignment models, which allow for splittings between generations. We reinterpret a recent CMS multijet plus missing energy search allowing for deviations from U(2) universality, and show tha…
The results of a search for gluino and squark pair production with the pairs decaying via the lightest charginos into a final state consisting of two $W$ bosons, the lightest neutralinos ($\tildeχ^0_1$), and quarks, are presented. The signal is characterised by the presence of a single charged lepton ($e^{\pm}$ or $μ^{\pm}$) from a $W$ boson decay, jets, and missing transverse momentum. The analysis is performed using 139 fb$^{-1}$ of proton-proton collision data taken at a centre-of-mass energy $\sqrt{s}=13$ TeV delivered by the Large Hadron Collider and recorded by the ATLAS experiment. No s…
The scenario of light gluinos and light sbottoms was advocated to explain the discrepancy between the measured and theoretical production of $b$ quarks at the Tevatron. This scenario will have model-independent predictions for $Z\to q\bar q \tilde{g} \tilde{g}$ at the $Z^0$-pole, and $e^+ e^- \to q\bar q \tilde{g} \tilde{g}$ at LEPII. We show that the data for $Z\to q \bar q g^* \to q\bar q b \bar b$ at LEPI cannot constrain the scenario, because the ratio $Γ(Z \to q\bar q \tilde{g} \tilde{g})/ Γ(Z \to q \bar q g^* \to q\bar q b \bar b) = 0.15 - 0.04$ for $m_{\tilde{g}}= 12-16$ GeV is smaller …
In this work we study the collider phenomenology of a compressed supersymmetric model with gluino and the lightest neutralino. All other sparticles are assumed to be heavy. We consider gluino pair production at the 14 TeV LHC and present the mass reach of gluino as a function of mass splitting between gluino and the the lightest neutralino. We find that the gluino mass below 1 TeV can be excluded at 95% CL with integrated luminosity of 100 fb$^{-1}$ for extreme degenerate case where mass separation between gluino and the lightest neutralino is about 20 GeV. On the other hand, the lower bound o…
We propose a new variable, the charm fraction, for collider searches for new physics. We analyze this variable in the context of searches for simplified supersymmetry models with squarks, the gluino, and the bino, assuming that only the lightest mass-degenerate squarks can be produced at the high-luminosity LHC. The charm fraction complements event counting and kinematic information, increasing the sensitivity of the searches for models with heavy gluinos, for which squark production is flavor-blind. If squarks are discovered at the LHC, this variable can help discriminate between different un…
A search for squarks and gluinos in final states containing hadronic jets, missing transverse momentum but no electrons or muons is presented. The data were recorded in 2015 by the ATLAS experiment in $\sqrt{s}=$ 13 TeV proton--proton collisions at the Large Hadron Collider. No excess above the Standard Model background expectation was observed in 3.2 fb$^{-1}$ of analyzed data. Results are interpreted within simplified models that assume R-parity is conserved and the neutralino is the lightest supersymmetric particle. An exclusion limit at the 95% confidence level on the mass of the gluino is…
In light of a discrepancy of the direct $CP$ violation in $K\toππ$ decays, $\varepsilon'/\varepsilon_K$, we investigate gluino contributions to the electroweak penguin, where flavor violations are induced by squark trilinear couplings. Top-Yukawa contributions to $ΔS = 2$ observables are taken into account, and vacuum stability conditions are evaluated in detail. It is found that this scenario can explain the discrepancy of $\varepsilon'/\varepsilon_K$ for the squark mass smaller than 5.6 TeV. We also show that the gluino contributions can amplify $\mathcal{B}(K \to πν\overlineν)$, $\mathcal{B…
