Using the method of nonequilibrium statistical operator by Zubarev, an approach is proposed for the description of kinetics which takes into account the nonlinear hydrodynamic fluctuations for a quantum Bose system. Non-equilibrium statistical operator is presented which consistently describes both the kinetic and nonlinear hydrodynamic processes. Both a kinetic equation for the nonequilibrium one-particle distribution function and a generalized Fokker-Planck equation for nonequilibrium distribution function of hydrodynamic variables (densities of momentum, energy and particle number) are obtained. A structure function of hydrodynamic fluctuations in cumulant representation is calculated, which makes it possible to analyse the generalized Fokker-Planck equation in Gaussian and higher approximations of the dynamic correlations of hydrodynamic variables which is important in describing the quantum turbulent processes.
An approach to the description of kinetics which taking into account the large-scale hydrodynamic transport processes for quantum Bose system is proposed. The nonequilibrium statistical operator which consistently describes both the kinetic and nonlinear hydrodynamic fluctuations in quantum liquid is calculated. Using this operator the coupled equations for quantum one-particle distribution function and functional of hydrodynamic variables: densities of momentum, energies and number of particles are obtained.
We extend our recent work on the two-fluid hydrodynamics of the condensate and non-condensate in a trapped Bose gas by including the dissipation associated with viscosity and thermal conduction. For purposes of illustration, we consider the hydrodynamic modes in the case of a uniform Bose gas. A finite thermal conductivity and shear viscosity give rise to a damping of the first and second sound modes in addition to that found previously due to the lack of diffusive equilibrium between the condensate and non-condensate. The relaxational mode associated with this equilibration process is strongl…
Recently it was shown that the Landau-Khalatnikov two-fluid hydrodynamics describes the collision-dominated region of a trapped Bose condensate interacting with a thermal cloud. We use these equations to discuss the low frequency hydrodynamic collective modes in a trapped Bose gas at finite temperatures. We derive a variational expressions based on these equations for both the frequency and damping of collective modes. A new feature is our use of frequency-dependent transport coefficients, which produce a natural cutoff by eliminating the collisionless low-density tail of the thermal cloud. Ab…
In the framework of mean-field approximation the dynamics of Bose-Einstein condensates can be described by the hydrodynamic-like equations. These equations are analyzed here with account of mutual interaction between condensate and non-condensate atoms. The Lagrange invariants and freezing-in invariants of such a system have been found. This allows to get some necessary conditions for creation of an atom laser with controlled parameters of the beam. Particularly, the atom laser beam can carry quite well defined angular momentum. This can be practically realized in the most simple case, when th…
Self-consistent hydrodynamic one-loop quantum corrections to the Gross-Pitaevskii equation due to the interaction of the condensate with collective excitations are calculated. It is done by making use a formalism of effective action and $ζ$-function regularization for a contribution from Bogoliubov particles in hydrodynamic approximation. It turns out to be possible to reduce the problem to the investigation of a determinant of Laplace operator on curved space where a metric is defined by density and velocity of the condensate. Standard methods of quantum gravity let us get the leading logarit…
Starting from the quantum kinetic equation for the non-condensate atoms and the generalized Gross-Pitaevskii equation for the condensate, we derive the two-fluid hydrodynamic equations of a trapped Bose gas at finite temperatures. We follow the standard Chapman-Enskog procedure, starting from a solution of the kinetic equation corresponding to the complete local equilibrium between the condensate and the non-condensate components. Our hydrodynamic equations are shown to reduce to a form identical to the well-known Landau-Khalatnikov two-fluid equations, with hydrodynamic damping due to the dev…
We develop a theory to describe the damping of elementary excitations of a Bose-condensed gas in the hydrodynamic regime for the thermal cloud. We discuss second sound in a spatially homogeneous gas and the lowest excitations of a trapped condensate.
Applications of non-Riemannian acoustic geometries in Bose-Einstein condensates (BEC) are considered. The first is the Minkowski-Cartan irrotational vortex acoustic geometry of nonlinear Schrödinger equations of BEC (Gross-Pitaeviskii (GP) equation). In this model, which is an alternative to the Riemannian acoustic geometry of phonons in BEC, the Cartan acoustic torsion is physically interpreted as the bending of the BEC wave function amplitude. Actually this shows that acoustic torsion is given by the density perturbation of BEC flow as happens in relativistic cosmological fluid spacetimes. T…
Chain of kinetic equations for non-equilibrium single, double and s-particle distribution functions of particles is obtained taking into account nonlin- ear hydrodynamic fluctuations. Non-equilibrium distribution function of non-linear hydrodynamic fluctuations satisfies a generalized Fokker-Planck equation. The method of non-equilibrium statistical operator by Zubarev is applied. A way of calculating of the structural distribution function of hydrodynamic collective variables and their hydrodynamic velocities (above Gaussian approximation) contained in the generalized Fokker-Planck equa- tion…
In this paper the quantum hydrodynamic equation describing the collective, low energy excitations of a dilute atomic Bose gas in a given trapping potential is investigated with the JWKB semiclassical method. In the case of spherically symmetric harmonic confining potential a good agreement is shown between the semiclassical and the exact energy eigenvalues as well as wave functions. It is also demonstrated that for larger quantum numbers the calculation of the semiclassical wave function is numerically more stable than the exact polynomial with large alternating coefficients.
We discuss the zero-temperature hydrodynamics equations of bosonic and fermionic superfluids and their connection with generalized Gross-Pitaevskii and Ginzburg-Landau equations through a single superfluid nonlinear Schrodinger equation.
We consider two regimes where a trapped Bose gas behaves as a one-dimensional system. In the first one the Bose gas is microscopically described by 3D mean field theory, but the trap is so elongated that it behaves as a 1D gas with respect to low frequency collective modes. In the second regime we assume that the 1D gas is truly 1D and that it is properly described by the Lieb-Liniger model. In both regimes we find the frequency of the lowest compressional mode by solving the hydrodynamic equations. This is done by making use of a method which allows to find analytical or quasi-analytical solu…
Statistical description of hydrodynamic processes for ionic melts is proposed with taking into account polarization effects caused by the deformation of external ionic shells. This description is carried out by means of the Zubarev nonequilibrium statistical operator method, appropriate for investigations of both strong and weak nonequilibrium processes. The nonequilibrium statistical operator and the generalized hydrodynamic equations that take into account polarization processes are received for ionic-polarization model of ionic molten salts when the nonequilibrium averaged values of densiti…
Explicit expressions for all the transport coefficients have recently been found for a trapped Bose condensed gas at finite temperatures. These transport coefficients are used to define the characteristic relaxation times, which determine the crossover between the mean-field collisionless and the two-fluid hydrodynamic regime. These relaxation times are evaluated as a function of the position in the trap potential. We show that all the relaxation times are dominated by the collisions between the condensate and the non-condensate atoms, and are much smaller than the standard classical collision…
The dynamics of a confined fluid of Bose atoms is treated within the linear response regime, with a view to establishing a current-density functional formalism for an inhomogeneous superfluid state. After evaluating in full detail a simplified case of an external coupling to the density and phase of the condensate, the theory is extended to include the coupling to the total current density. The Kohn-Sham response functions of the condensate and all the exchange-correlation kernels for the superfluid are introduced from the microscopic equations of motion and are expressed in a physically trans…
The theory of generalized hydrodynamics (GHD) was recently developed as a new tool for the study of inhomogeneous time evolution in many-body interacting systems with infinitely many conserved charges. In this letter, we show that it supersedes the widely used conventional hydrodynamics (CHD) of one-dimensional Bose gases. We illustrate this by studying "nonlinear sound waves" emanating from initial density accumulations in the Lieb-Liniger model. We show that, at zero temperature and in the absence of shocks, GHD reduces to CHD, thus for the first time justifying its use from purely hydrodyna…
In the paper we consider a hydrodynamical description of a nonideal Bose gas in one-loop approximation. We calculate an effective action which consists of mean field contributions and first quantum correction. This provides the equations of motion for the density and velocity of the gas where both mean field contributions and fluctuations are presented. To fulfill the calculation we make use of the formalism of functional integrals to map the problem to a problem of quantum gravity to benefit from a well-developed technique in this field. This effective action provides all correlation function…
The low-lying hydrodynamic normal modes of a dilute Bose-Einstein gas in an isotropic harmonic trap determine the corresponding Bogoliubov amplitudes. In the Thomas-Fermi limit, these modes have large low-temperature occupation numbers, and they permit an explicit construction of the dynamic structure function $S(q,ω)$. The total noncondensate number $N'(0)$ at zero temperature increases like $R^6$, where $R$ is the condensate radius measured in units of the oscillator length. The lowest dipole modes are constructed explicitly in the Bogoliubov approximation.
Based on the canonical ensemble, we suggested the simple scheme for taking into account Gaussian fluctuations in a finite system of ideal boson gas. Within framework of scheme we investigated the influence of fluctuations on the particle distribution in Bose -gas for two cases - with taking into account the number of particles in the ground state and without this assumption. The temperature and fluctuation parameter dependences of the modified Bose- Einstein distribution have been determined. Also the dependence of the condensation temperature on the fluctuation distribution parameter has been…
We consider the deformed Bose gas model with the deformation structure function that is the combination of a q-deformation and a quadratically polynomial deformation. Such a choice of the unifying deformation structure function enables us to describe the interacting gas of composite (two-fermionic or two-bosonic) bosons. Using the relevant generalization of the Jackson derivative, we derive a two-parametric expression for the total number of particles, from which the deformed virial expansion of the equation of state is obtained. The latter is interpreted as the virial expansion for the effect…
In this paper we extend previous hydrodynamic equations, governing the motion of Bose-Einstein-condensed fluids, to include temperature effects. This allows us to analyze some differences between a normal fluid and a Bose-Einstein-condensed one. We show that, in close analogy with superfluid He-4, a Bose-Einstein-condensed fluid exhibits the mechanocaloric and thermomechanical effects. In our approach we can explain both effects without using the hypothesis that the Bose-Einstein-condensed fluid has zero entropy. Such ideas could be investigated in existing experiments.

Describing and understanding the motion of quantum gases out of equilibrium is one of the most important modern challenges for theorists. In the groundbreaking Quantum Newton Cradle experiment [Kinoshita, Wenger and Weiss, Nature 440, 900, 2006], quasi-one-dimensional cold atom gases were observed with unprecedented accuracy, providing impetus for many developments on the effects of low dimensionality in out-of-equilibrium physics. But it is only recently that the theory of generalized hydrodynamics has provided the adequate tools for a numerically efficient description. Using it, we give a co…
We have studied the hydrodynamic flow in a Bose-Einstein condensate stirred by a macroscopic object, a blue detuned laser beam, using nondestructive {\em in situ} phase contrast imaging. A critical velocity for the onset of a pressure gradient has been observed, and shown to be density dependent. The technique has been compared to a calorimetric method used previously to measure the heating induced by the motion of the laser beam.
We propose a generalization of equations of quantum mechanics in the hydrodynamic form by introducing the terms taking into account the diffusion velocity at zero and finite temperatures and the density energy of diffusion pressure of the thermal vacuum into the Lagrangian density. Based on this, for a model of one-dimensional hydrodynamics, we construct a system of equations that are similar to the Euler equations but taking quantum and thermal effects into account. They are a generalization of equations of Nelson's stochastic mechanics and can be used to describe a new matter state, namely, …
We determine the hydrodynamic modes of the superfluid analog of a smectic-A phase in liquid crystals, i.e., a state in which both gauge invariance and translational invariance along a single direction are spontaneously broken. Such a superfluid smectic provides an idealized description of the incommensurate supersolid state realized in Bose-Einstein condensates with strong dipolar interactions as well as of the stripe phase in Bose gases with spin-orbit coupling. We show that the presence of a finite normal fluid density in the ground state of these systems gives rise to a well-defined second-…
A hydrodynamic description is used to study the zero-temperature properties of a trapped spinor Bose-Einstein condensate in the presence of a uniform magnetic field. We show that, in the case of antiferromagnetic spin-spin interaction, the polar and ferromagnetic configurations of the ground state can coexist in the trap. These two phases are spatially segregated in such a way that the polar state occupies the inner part while the ferromagnetic state occupies the outer part of the atomic cloud. We also derive a set of coupled hydrodynamic equations for the number density and spin density excit…
Bose-Einstein condensation of the excitons in graphene is considered. We suggested the model spinor equation for neutral particles with short range interaction described the microscopic graphene excitons dynamic. Using this equation we derived quantum hydrodynamic equations for description of collective properties of excitons in graphene, particularly for the case when excitons being in the Bose-Einstein condensate (BEC) state. The dispersion of collective excitations in graphene excitons BEC is studied. We shown that frequency of collective excitations is proportional to the square root of th…
For a decade the fate of a one-dimensional gas of interacting bosons in an external trapping potential remained mysterious. We here show that whenever the underlying integrability of the gas is broken by the presence of the external potential, the inevitable diffusive rearrangements between the quasiparticles, quantified by the diffusion constants of the gas, eventually lead the system to thermalise at late times. We show that the full thermalising dynamics can be described by the generalised hydrodynamics with diffusion and force terms, and we compare these predictions with numerical simulati…
