A brief review is given of the integrable realization of affine fusion discovered recently by Korff and Stroppel. They showed that the affine fusion of the $su(n)$ Wess-Zumino-Novikov-Witten (WZNW) conformal field theories appears in a simple integrable system known as the phase model. The Yang-Baxter equation leads to the construction of commuting operators as Schur polynomials, with noncommuting hopping operators as arguments. The algebraic Bethe ansatz diagonalizes them, revealing a connection to the modular S matrix and fusion of the $su(n)$ WZNW model. The noncommutative Schur polynomials play roles similar to those of the primary field operators in the corresponding WZNW model. In particular, their 3-point functions are the $su(n)$ fusion multiplicities. We show here how the new phase model realization of affine fusion makes obvious the existence of threshold levels, and how it accommodates higher-genus fusion.
We give a construction which produces a positive energy representation of the affine Lie algebra of type A_n from the Stokes data of a solution of the tt*-Toda equations of type A_n. The construction appears to play a role in conformal field theory. We illustrate this with several examples: the fusion ring, W-algebra minimal models (Argyres-Douglas theory), as well as topological-antitopological fusion itself. (Minor typographical changes for this version.)

We numerically study an anyon chain based on the Haagerup fusion category, and find evidence that it leads in the long-distance limit to a conformal field theory whose central charge is $\sim 2$. Fusion categories generalize the concept of finite group symmetries to non-invertible symmetry operations, and the Haagerup fusion category is the simplest one which comes neither from finite groups nor affine Lie algebras. As such, ours is the first example of conformal field theories which have truly exotic generalized symmetries.
The Bershadsky-Polyakov algebras are the original examples of nonregular W-algebras, obtained from the affine vertex operator algebras associated with $\mathfrak{sl}_3$ by quantum hamiltonian reduction. In [arXiv:2007.03917], we explored the representation theories of the simple quotients of these algebras when the level $\mathsf{k}$ is nondegenerate-admissible. Here, we combine these explorations with Adamović's inverse quantum hamiltonian reduction functors to study the modular properties of Bershadsky-Polyakov characters and deduce the associated Grothendieck fusion rules. The results are n…
We construct topological quantum field theories (TQFTs) and commuting projector Hamiltonians for any 1+1d gapped phases with non-anomalous fusion category symmetries, i.e. finite symmetries that admit SPT phases. The construction is based on two-dimensional state sum TQFT whose input datum is an $H$-simple left $H$-comodule algebra, where $H$ is a finite dimensional semisimple Hopf algebra. We show that the actions of fusion category symmetries $\mathcal{C}$ on the boundary conditions of these state sum TQFTs are represented by module categories over $\mathcal{C}$. This agrees with the classif…
In this work, we use Ising chain and Kitaev chain to check the validity of an earlier proposal in arXiv:2011.02859 that enriched fusion (higher) categories provide a unified categorical description of all gapped/gapless quantum liquid phases, including symmetry-breaking phases, topological orders, SPT/SET orders and certain gapless quantum phases. In particular, we show explicitly that, in each gapped phase realized by these two models, the spacetime observables form a fusion category enriched in a braided fusion category. We also study the categorical descriptions of the boundaries of these m…
