The time-dependent Ginzburg-Landau formalism is applied to analyze the vortex states and vortex dynamics in superconducting spherical nanoshells, subjected to mutually perpendicular strong dc and weak ac magnetic fields. We demonstrate that nonuniformity of the shell thickness can dramatically affect the ac magnetic response of a 3D array of superconducting nanoshells. Remarkably, this response is strongly influenced not only by the relevant geometric and material parameters and the ac-field frequency but also by the magnitude of the applied dc field: by changing this field the real part of the effective ac magnetic permeability can be tuned from positive values significantly larger than one down to negative values.
We propose that chiral anomaly of Weyl superconductors gives rise to negative thermal magnetoresistivity induced by emergent magnetic fields, which are generated by vortex textures of order parameters or lattice strain. We establish this scenario by combining the argument based on Berry curvatures, and the quasi-classical theory of the Eilenberger equation with quantum corrections arising from inhomogeneous structures. It is found that the chiral anomaly contribution of the thermal conductivity exhibits characteristic temperature dependence, which can be a smoking-gun signature of this effect.
We use the formerly derived explicit analytical expressions for the conductivity of nanostructured superconductors supercooled below the critical temperature in electric field. Computer simulations reveal that the negative differential conductivity region of the current-voltage characteristic leads to excitation of electric oscillations. We simulate a circuit with distributed elements as a first step to obtain gigahertz oscillations. This gives a hint that a hybrid device of nanostructured superconductors will work in terahertz frequencies. If the projected setup is successful, we consider the…
We study the negative refractive index in cubic noncentrosymmetric superconductors. We consider the Maxwell equations under the Meissner effect, and magnetoelectric effect arising due to broken inversion symmetry. We derive dispersion relations of electromagnetic waves, and show that the refractive index becomes negative at frequencies just below the Higgs gap. We find that the chiral mechanism of the negative refractive index, which is usually discussed in chiral materials with negative permittivity can be applied to superconductors with positive permittivity by replacing the plasma gap with …
We show theoretically that the measurement of a $\mathcal{PT}$-symmetric non-Hermitian superconductor by angle-resolved photoelectron fluctuation spectroscopy (ARPFS) provides a decisive signature. In fact, the signal is negative in a single-band case in contrast to the ARPFS signal of Hermitian superconductors. We suggest that the negative fluctuations can be explained by a remarkable pairing phenomenon: If the interaction between electrons in this $\mathcal{PT}$-symmetric non-Hermitian superconductor is attractive then the interaction between holes (i.e. missing electrons) is repulsive and v…
We investigated the temperature evolution of crystal structure of orthorhombic CoZr3, which is a superconductor with a transition temperature of 4.3 K, by synchrotron and laboratory (CuKα) X-ray diffraction. Uniaxial negative thermal expansion along the c-axis, which is similar to that observed in tetragonal CoZr2, has been observed at a wide temperature range of T = 90-800 K in CoZr3, while a-and b-axis exhibit positive thermal expansion.
We have found that body-centered cubic (bcc) HfMoNbTiZr is a type-II BCS high-entropy alloy (HEA) superconductor with a superconducting critical temperature of $T_\mathrm{c}$=4.1 K. By employing a Debye temperature $θ_\mathrm{D}$ of 263 K and $T_\mathrm{c}$, the electron-phonon coupling constant $λ_\mathrm{e-p}$ is calculated to be 0.63. The electronic structure calculation revealed band broadening with energy uncertainties due to atomic disorders. The superconducting properties are compared among equiatomic quinary bcc HEA superconductors. $T_\mathrm{c}$ decreases with decreasing $λ_\mathrm{e…
We demonstrate the manifestations of the nonlinear features in magnetic dynamics and IV-characteristics of the $φ_0$ Josephson junction in the ferromagnetic resonance region. We show that at small values of system parameters, namely, damping, spin-orbit interaction, and Josephson to magnetic energy ratio, the magnetic dynamics is reduced to the dynamics of the scalar Duffing oscillator, driven by the Josephson oscillations. The role of increasing superconducting current in the resonance region is clarified. Shifting of the ferromagnetic resonant frequency and the reversal of its damping depend…
Domain wall motion in magnetic materiel induces the negative susceptibility leading to a perfect diamagnetism state. The local susceptibility is calculated by the derivative of magnetization ($\vec{M}$) vector w.r.t. magnetic field strength ($\vec{H}$) vector. In the transient region from the upward domain to the downward domain (domain wall width), local $\vec{M}$ and $\vec{H}$ vectors exhibit opposite slopes, which leads to a negative susceptibility value. A negative susceptibility value induces the diamagnetism effect leading to a relative permeability value $<$ 1 $\left(μ_r < 1\right)$. Th…
We have studied the electronic structure of electron-doped cuprate superconductors via measurements of high-field Shubnikov-de Haas oscillations in thin films. In optimally doped Pr$_{2-x}$Ce$_{x}$CuO$_{4\pmδ}$ and La$_{2-x}$Ce$_{x}$CuO$_{4\pmδ}$, quantum oscillations indicate the presence of a small Fermi surface, demonstrating that electronic reconstruction is a general feature of the electron-doped cuprates, despite the location of the superconducting dome at very different doping levels. Negative high-field magnetoresistance is correlated with an anomalous low-temperature change in scatter…
We report the temperature variation of the $^{119}$Sn-Mössbauer spectra of the antiperovskite (inverse perovskite) oxide superconductor Sr$_{3-x}$SnO. Both superconductive (Sr-deficient) and non-superconductive (nearly stoichiometric) samples exhibit major $γ$-ray absorption with isomer shift similar to that of Mg$_2$Sn. This fact shows that Sr$_{3-x}$SnO contains the metallic anion Sn$^{4-}$, which is rare especially among oxides. In both samples, we observed another $γ$-ray absorption with a larger isomer shift, indicating that there is another ionic state of Sn with a higher oxidation numbe…
When the electron density of highly crystalline thin films is tuned by chemical doping or ionic liq- uid gating, interesting effects appear including unconventional superconductivity, sizeable spin-orbit coupling, competition with charge-density waves, and a debated low-temperature metallic state that seems to avoid the superconducting or insulating fate of standard two-dimensional electron systems. Some experiments also find a marked tendency to a negative electronic compressibility. We suggest that this indicates an inclination for electronic phase separation resulting in a nanoscopic inhomo…
