Thermalization component model of multiplicity distributions of charged hadrons at BNL($E^{lab}_{NN}=2-11.6GeV/c$), the CERN($E^{lab}_{NN}=20-200GeV/c$), and the BNL ($\sqrt{s_{NN}}=19.6-200 GeV$)
We find that collective flow model which can successfully analyze charged particle distributions at AGS and lower SPS (less than 20Gev/n). but fails to analyze that of at RHIC. The tails of distribution of charged particle at RHIC has a jump from the collective flow model calculation as the energy increases. Thermalization Component Model is presented based on collective flow to study the multiplicity distributions at RHIC in this paper. It is realized that the region of phase space of collective flow can reflect that of thermalization region. By comparing the contributions of particle productions from thermalization region at different energies and different centralities, we can deepen our study on the feature of collective movement at RHIC.

It is shown that the chemical freeze-out parameters obtained at CERN/SPS, BNL/AGS and GSI/SIS energies all correspond to a unique value of 1 GeV for the average energy per hadron.
We present a modified colour screening model for $J/ψ$ suppression in the Quark-Gluon Plasma (QGP) using quasi-particle model (QPM) as equation of state (EOS). Other theoretical ingredients incorporated in the model are feed-down from higher resonances namely, $χ_c$, and $ψ^{'}$, dilated formation time for quarkonia and viscous effects of the QGP medium. Assuming further that the QGP is expanding with Bjorken's hydrodynamical expansion, the present model is used to analyze the centrality dependence of the $J/ψ$ suppression in mid-rapidity region and compare it with the data obtained from SPS, …
Widths of the rapidity distributions of various identified hadrons generated with the UrQMD-3.4 event generator at all the Super Proton Synchrotron (SPS) energies have been presented and compared with the existing experimental results. An increase in the width of the rapidity distribution of $Λ$ could be seen with both Monte Carlo (MC) and experimental data for the studied energies. Using MC data, the study has been extended to Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC) and Large Hadron Collider (LHC) energies. A similar jump, as observed in the plot of rapidity width versus rest mass at Alternati…
We use an event-by-event hydrodynamical description of the heavy-ion collision process with Glauber initial conditions to calculate the thermal emission of photons. The photon rates in the hadronic phase follow from a spectral function approach and a density expansion, while in the partonic phase they follow from the AMY perturbative rates. The calculated photon elliptic flows are lower than those reported recently by both the ALICE and PHENIX collaborations.
It was proposed that the electric fields may lead to chiral separation in QGP, which is called the chiral electric separation effect. The strong electromagnetic field and the QCD vacuum can both completely be produced in the off-central nuclear-nuclear collision. We used the Wood-Saxon nucleon distribution to calculate the electric field distributions of the off-central collisions. The chiral electro field spatial distribution at Relativistic Heavy-Ion Collider (RHIC) and Large Hadron Collider (LHC) energy regions are systematically studied in this paper. Compared with magnetic field spatial d…
The charged particles produced in nucleus-nucleus collisions are divided into two parts. One is from the hot and dense matter created in collisions. The other is from leading particles. The hot and dense matter is assumed to expand according to unified hydrodynamics and freezes out into charged particles from a space-like hypersurface with a fixed proper time of Tau_FO.The leading particles are conventionally taken as the particles which inherit the quantum numbers of colliding nucleons and carry off most of incident energy. The rapidity distributions of the charged particles from these two pa…
We compute v4/(v2)^2 in ideal and viscous hydrodynamics. We investigate its sensitivity to details of the hydrodynamic model and compare the results to experimental data from RHIC. Whereas v2 has a significant sensitivity only to initial eccentricity and viscosity while being insensitive to freeze out temperature, we find that v4/(v2)^2 is quite insensitive to initial eccentricity. On the other hand, it can still be sensitive to shear viscosity in addition to freeze out temperature, although viscous effects do not universally increase v4/(v2)^2 as originally predicted. Consistent with data, we…
The complete understanding of the basic constituents of hadrons and the hadronic dynamics at high energies are two of the main challenges for the theory of strong interactions. In particular, the existence of intrinsic heavy quark components in the hadron wave function must be confirmed (or disproved). In this paper we propose a new mechanism for the production of $D$-mesons at forward rapidities based on the Color Glass Condensate (CGC) formalism and demonstrate that the resulting transverse momentum spectra are strongly dependent on the behavior of the charm distribution at large Bjorken $x$…
Following the Boz$\dot{\textrm{e}}$k-Wyskiel parametrization tilted initial condition, an alternative way to construct a longitudinal tilted fireball based on the Glauber collision geometry is presented. This longitudinal tilted initial condition combined with the Ideal-CLVisc (3 + 1)D hydrodynamic model, a nonvanishing directed flow coefficient $v_{1}$ in a wide rapidity range is observed. After comparing the model's results with experimentally observed data of directed flow coefficient $v_{1}(η)$ from $\sqrt{s_{NN}}$ = 200 GeV Cu + Cu, Au + Au collisions at RHIC energy to $\sqrt{s_{NN}}$ = 2…
Based on the recent RHIC and LHC experimental results, the $\langle p_T\rangle$ dependence of identified light flavour charged hadrons on $\sqrt{(\frac{dN}{dy})/S_{\perp}}$, relevant scale in gluon saturation picture, is studied from $\sqrt{s_{NN}}$=7.7 GeV up to 5.02 TeV. This study is extended to the slopes of the $\langle p_T\rangle$ dependence on the particle mass and the $\langleβ_T\rangle$ parameter from Boltzmann-Gibbs Blast Wave (BGBW) fits of the $p_T$ spectra. A systematic decrease of the slope of the $\langle p_T\rangle$ dependence on $\sqrt{(\frac{dN}{dy})/S_{\perp}}$ from BES to t…
In very high energy collisions nuclei are practically transparent to each other but produce very hot, nearly baryon-free, matter in the so-called central rapidity region. The energy in the central rapidity region comes from the kinetic energy of the colliding nuclei. We calculate the energy and rapidity loss of the nuclei using the color glass condensate model. This model also predicts the excitation energy of the nuclear fragments. Using a space-time picture of the collision we calculate the baryon and energy densities of the receding baryonic fireballs. For central collisions of gold nuclei …
Hadronic resonances, having very short lifetime, like $\rm{K}^{*0}$, can act as useful probes to understand and estimate lifetime of hadronic phase in ultra-relativistic proton-proton, p--Pb and heavy-ion collisions. Resonances with relatively longer lifetime, like $ϕ$ meson, can serve as a tool to locate the QGP phase boundary. We estimate a lower limit of hadronic phase lifetime in Cu--Cu and Au--Au collisions at RHIC, and in pp, p--Pb and Pb--Pb collisions at different LHC collision energies. Also, we obtain the effective temperature of $ϕ$ meson using Boltzmann-Gibbs Blast-Wave function, w…
The features of net baryon productions and collective flow in relativistic heavy-ion collisions at energies reached at the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC), BNL Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC), CERN Super Proton Synchrotron (SPS) and BNL Alternating Gradient Synchrotron (AGS) with the model of Non-Uniform Flow Model(NUFM) are systematically studied in this paper. Especially we predict the feature of net baryon productions and collective flow at LHC $\sqrt{s_{NN}}$=5500 GeV basing on the detailed study of that at RHIC $\sqrt{s_{NN}}$=62.4 and 200GeV. The dependencies of the features of b…
We study the diffusion of charm and beauty in the early stage of high energy nuclear collisions at RHIC and LHC energies, considering the interaction of these heavy quarks with the evolving Glasma by means of the Wong equations. In comparison with previous works, we add the longitudinal expansion as well as we estimate the effect of energy loss due to gluon radiation. We find that heavy quarks diffuse in the strong transverse color fields in the very early stage (0.2-0.3 fm/c) and this leads to a suppression at low $p_T$ and enhancement at intermediate low $p_T$. The shape of the observed nucl…
The hydrokinetic approach, that incorporates hydrodynamic expansion of the systems formed in A+A collisions and their dynamical decoupling, is applied to restore the initial conditions and space-time picture of the matter evolution in central Au+Au collisions at the top RHIC energy. The analysis is based on the detailed reproduction of the pion and kaon momentum spectra and femtoscopic data in whole interval of the transverse momenta studied by both STAR and PHENIX collaborations. The fitting procedure utilizes the two parameters: the maximal energy density at supposed thermalization time 1 fm…
Hadron production in leading order pQCD is reviewed. The shape of the single inclusive particle spectra is well described for $p_T \geq 2-3$ GeV at center of mass energies from 20 GeV to 2 TeV. The phenomenological K-factor is found to decrease systematically with $\sqrt{s}$. For ultra-relativistic heavy ion reactions the calculation is augmented with the effects of initial multiple parton scattering and final state radiative energy loss. Baseline CERN-LHC predictions for hadron production in $p+p$ and suppression in central $Pb+Pb$ reactions at $\sqrt{s} = 5.5$ TeV are given in comparison to …
We investigate the excitation function of quark-gluon plasma formation and of directed in-plane flow of nucleons in the energy range of the BNL-AGS and for the E(Lab)=40AGeV Pb+Pb collisions performed recently at the CERN-SPS. We employ the three-fluid model with dynamical unification of kinetically equilibrated fluid elements. Within our model with first-order phase transition at high density, droplets of QGP coexisting with hadronic matter are produced already at BNL-AGS energies, E(Lab)=10AGeV. A substantial decrease of the isentropic velocity of sound, however, requires higher energies, E(…
Following the experimental program at BNL RHIC, we perform a similar "energy scan" using 3+1D viscous hydrodynamics coupled to the UrQMD hadron cascade, and study the collision energy dependence of pion and kaon rapidity distributions and $m_T$-spectra, as well as charged hadron elliptic flow. To this aim the equation of state for finite baryon density from a Chiral model coupled to the Polyakov loop is employed for hydrodynamic stage. 3D initial conditions from UrQMD are used to study gradual deviation from boost-invariant scaling flow. We find that the inclusion of shear viscosity in the hyd…
Maurice Jacob played a key role in bringing together different groups from the experimental and theoretical nuclear and particle physics communities to initiate an ultrarelativistic heavy-ion collision program at the CERN SPS, in order to search for the quark-gluon plasma. I review the history of this program from its beginnings to the time when the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC) at Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL) started operation. I close by providing a glimpse of the important discoveries made at RHIC and giving an outlook towards heavy-ion collisions at the Large Hadron Collid…
We propose the development and construction of a novel muon-ion collider (MuIC) at Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL) in the USA as an upgrade to succeed the electron-ion collider (EIC) that is scheduled to commence in the early 2030s, by a joint effort of the nuclear and particle physics communities. The BNL facility could accommodate a muon storage beam with an energy up to about 1~TeV with existing magnet technology. When collided with a 275~GeV hadron beam, the MuIC center-of-mass energy of about 1~TeV will extend the kinematic coverage of deep inelastic scattering physics at the EIC (wi…
A further development of the evolutionary picture of A+A collisions, which we call the integrated HydroKinetic Model (iHKM), is proposed. The model comprises a generator of the initial state GLISSANDO, pre-thermal dynamics of A+A collisions leading to thermalization, subsequent relativistic viscous hydrodynamic expansion of quark-gluon and hadron medium (vHLLE), its particlization, and finally hadronic cascade ultrarelativistic QMD. We calculate mid-rapidity charged-particle multiplicities, pion, kaon, and antiproton spectra, charged-particle elliptic flows, and pion interferometry radii for P…
A first attempt has been made to extract the evolution of radial flow from the analysis of the experimental data on electromagnetic probes experimentally measured at SPS and RHIC energies. The $p_T$ spectra of photons and dileptons measured by WA98 and NA60 collaborations respectively at CERN-SPS and the photon spectra obtained by PHENIX collaboration at BNL-RHIC have been used to constrain the theoretical models, rendering the outcome of the analysis largely model independent. We argue that the variation of the radial velocity with invariant mass is indicative of a phase transition from initi…
It is shown that data on pion and strangeness production in central nucleus-nucleus collisions are consistent with the hypothesis of a Quark Gluon Plasma formation between 15 A GeV/c (BNL AGS) and 160 A GeV/c (CERN SPS) collision energies. The experimental results interpreted in the framework of a statistical approach indicate that the effective number of degrees of freedom increases by a factor of about 3 in the course of the phase transition and that the plasma created at CERN SPS energy may have a temperature of about 280 MeV (energy density $\approx$ 10 GeV/fm^3). Experimental studies of c…
We compute the Coulomb distortion produced by an expanding and highly charged fireball on the spectra of low transverse momenta and mid rapidity pions produced in central high energy heavy ion collisions. We compare to data on Au+Au at 11.6A GeV from E866 at the BNL AGS and of Pb+Pb at 158A GeV from NA44 at the CERN SPS. We match the fireball expanison velocity with the average transverse momentum of protons and find a best fit to the charged pion ratio when the fireball radius is about 10 fm at freeze-out. This value is common to both AGS and SPS data.
We analyze available experimental data on the total and differential charged-current cross sections for quasielastic neutrino and antineutrino scattering off nucleons, measured with a variety of nuclear targets in the accelerator experiments at ANL, BNL, FNAL, CERN, and IHEP, dating from the end of sixties to the present day. The data are used to adjust the poorly known value of the axial-vector mass of the nucleon.
We compute the Coulomb effects produced by an expanding, highly charged fireball on the momentum distribution of pions. We compare our results to data on Au+Au at 11.6 A GeV from E866 at the BNL AGS and to data on Pb+Pb at 158 A GeV from NA44 at the CERN SPS. We conclude that the distortion of the spectra at low transverse momentum and mid-rapidity can be explained in both experiments by the effect of the large amount of participating charge in the central rapidity region. By adjusting the fireball expansion velocity to match the average transverse momentum of protons, we find a best fit when …
The status of thermal model descriptions of particle production in heavy ion collisions is presented. We discuss the formulation of statistical models with different implementation of the conservation laws and indicate their applicability in heavy ion and elementary particle collisions. We analyze experimental data on hadronic abundances obtained in ultrarelativistic heavy ion collisions, in a very broad energy range starting from RHIC/BNL ($\sqrt s=200$ A GeV), SPS/CERN ($\sqrt s\simeq 20$ A GeV) up to AGS/BNL ($\sqrt s\simeq 5$ A GeV) and SIS/GSI ($\sqrt s\simeq 2$ A GeV) to test equilibrati…
By taking into account the effects of leading particles, we discuss the pseudorapidity distributions of the charged particles produced in high energy heavy ion collisions in the context of evolution-dominated hydrodynamic model. The leading particles are supposed to have a Gaussian rapidity distribution normalized to the number of participants. A comparison is made between the theoretical results and the experimental measurements performed by BRAHMS and PHOBOS Collaboration at BNL-RHIC in Au-Au and Cu-Cu collisions at sqrt(s_NN) =200 GeV and by ALICE Collaboration at CERN-LHC in Pb-Pb collisio…
The grand-canonical version of the thermal model is used to analyze the ratios of particle abundances measured in ultra-relativistic heavy-ion collisions. Exactly the same model is applied to study the heavy-ion reactions at BNL AGS, CERN SPS, and BNL RHIC. A very good description is achieved for Pb+Pb collisions at SPS, and for Au+Au collisions at RHIC. In these two cases the value of the temperature characterizing the chemical freeze-out is practically same: T=168 MeV at SPS and T=165 MeV at RHIC. On the other hand, the particle ratios measured in the collisions of lighter nuclei are describ…
The results of the recent experiments on the reaction $π^-p\toπ^0π^0n$ performed at KEK, BNL, IHEP, and CERN are analyzed in detail. For the I=0 $ππ$ S wave phase shift $δ^0_0$ and inelasticity $η^0_0$ a new set of data is obtained. Difficulties emerging when using the physical solutions for the $π^0π^0$ S and D wave amplitudes extracted with the partial wave analyses are discussed. Attention is drawn to the fact that, for the $π^0π^0$ invariant mass, m, above 1 GeV, the other solutions, in principle, are found to be more preferred. For clarifying the situation and further studying the $f_0(98…
A simultaneous description of hadronic yields; pion, kaon, and proton spectra; elliptic flows; and femtoscopy scales in the hydrokinetic model of A+A collisions is presented at different centralities for the top BNL Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC) and CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC) 2.76-TeV energies. The initial conditions are based on the Glauber Monte-Carlo simulations. When going from RHIC to LHC energy in the model, the only parameters changed are the normalization of the initial entropy defined by the number of all charged particles in most central collisions, contribution to ent…
Preliminary experimental data for particle number ratios in the collisions of Au+Au at the BNL AGS (11$A$ GeV/$c$) and Pb+Pb at the CERN SPS (160$A$ GeV/$c$) are analyzed in a thermodynamically consistent hadron gas model with excluded volume. Large values of temperature, T=140--185 MeV, and baryonic chemical potential, $μ_b=590$--270 MeV, close to the boundary of the quark-gluon plasma phase are found from fitting the data. This seems to indicate that the energy density at the chemical freezeout is tremendous which would be indeed the case for the point-like hadrons. However, a self-consisten…
The charged particles produced in nucleus-nucleus collisions are classified into two parts,One is from the hot and dense matter created in collisions. The other is from leading particles. The hot and dense matter is assumed to expand and generate particles according to BJP hydrodynamics, a theory put forward by A. Bialas, R. A. Janik and R. Peschanski. The leading particles are argued to possess a Gaussian rapidity distribution with the normalization constant equaling the number of participants. A comparison is made between the theoretical results and the experimental measurements performed by…
We recapitulate a thermodynamically consistent excluded volume hadron gas model and examine its differences with other ``thermal models'' used in the literature. Preliminary experimental data for particle number ratios in the collisions of Au+Au at the BNL AGS (11$A$ GeV/$c$) and Pb+Pb at the CERN SPS (160$A$ GeV/$c$) are analyzed. For equal values of the hadron hard-core parameters the excluded volume model gives essentially the ideal gas predictions for the particle number ratios, which is similar to other thermal models. We observe, however, the systematic excess of experimental pion abunda…
Anisotropic flow of kaons and antikaons is studied in heavy-ion collisions at CERN SPS and BNL RHIC energies within the microscopic quark-gluon string model. In the midrapidity range the directed flow of kaons v_1 differs considerably from that of antikaons at SPS energy (E_{lab} = 160 AGeV), while at RHIC energy (\sqrt{s} = 130 AGeV) the excitation functions of both, kaon and antikaon, flows coincide within the statistical error bars. The change is attributed to formation of dense meson-dominated matter at RHIC, where the differences in interaction cross-sections of kaons and antikaons become…
Since their discovery, fluctuations in the initial state of heavy-ion collisions have been understood as originating mostly from the random positions of nucleons within the colliding nuclei. We consider an alternative approach where all the focus is on fluctuations generated by QCD interactions, that we evaluate at leading logarithmic accuracy in the color glass condensate effective theory. We validate our approach using BNL Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC) and CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC) data on anisotropic flow. In particular, we show that, compared to standard Glauber-inspired ca…
The production of low mass dileptons and soft photons from thermalized Quark Gluon Plasma (QGP) and hadronic matter in relativistic heavy ion collisions is evaluated. A boost invariant longitudinal and cylindrically symmetric transverse expansion of the systems created in central collision of lead nuclei at CERN SPS, BNL RHIC, and CERN LHC, and undergoing a first order phase transition to hadronic matter is considered. A large production of low mass ($M<$ 0.3 GeV) dileptons, and soft photons ($p_T<$ 0.4 GeV) is seen to emanate from the bremsstrahlung of quarks and pions. We find an increase by…

Strange particles have been a very important observable in the search for a deconfined state of strongly interacting matter, the quark-gluon plasma (QGP), which is expected to be formed in ultra-relativistic heavy ion collisions. We review the main experimental observations made at the Super Proton Synchrotron (SPS) at CERN, Geneva, and at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC) at Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL). The large amount of recently collected data allows for a comprehensive study of strangeness production as a function of energy and system size. We review results on yields, t…
Driven by the needs of the intensity frontier projects with their Megawatt beams, e.g., ESS, FAIR and Project X, and their experiments, the event generators of the MARS15 code have been recently improved. After thorough analysis and benchmarking against data, including the newest ones by the HARP collaboration, both the exclusive and inclusive particle production models were further developed in the crucial for the above projects - but difficult from a theoretical standpoint - projectile energy region of 0.7 to 12 GeV. At these energies, modelling of prompt particle production in nucleon-nucle…
Hydrodynamics with cylindrical symmetry in transverse direction and longitudinal scaling flow is employed to calculate the transverse momentum spectra of various hadrons and clusters (e.g. pi, K, N, Phi, Lambda, d, He) in central heavy-ion collisions at CERN-SPS and BNL-RHIC energies up to pT=4 GeV. We discuss the sensitivity of these spectra with respect to the initial transverse density profile as well as to the choice of ``freeze-out'' hypersurface. For SPS energy and pT<2 GeV, overall good agreement of the pT distributions with data is found when freeze-out occurs along the T=130 MeV isoth…
