Detailed results on single lepton, dilepton, diphoton and Z$γ$ resonances are included.
Searches for supersymmetry (SUSY) models with a compressed mass spectrum are theoretically motivated but also pose experimental challenges. Two recent searches from the CMS Collaboration targeting leptonic final states that can originate from such models are presented. The first search investigates SUSY signatures with two opposite sign or three low momentum leptons, while the second probes the parameter space of top squark models, where the mass difference of the lightest SUSY particles is close to the mass of the top quark. Both searches are based on the full dataset collected by CMS during …

The analyses are based on proton-proton collision data recorded by the CMS experiment at 7, 8, and 13 TeV centre-of-mass energies. The exclusion limits determined by the null results of the searches are interpreted in the framework of models that include extensions of the standard Higgs sector.
Recent results from CMS are reviewed for searches for supersymmetry in final states with multiple bottom quark jets. Results are based on the full 2012 CMS dataset consisting of 19.5 fb-1 collected at a center-of-mass energy of sqrt(s) = 8 TeV. Leptoquarks (LQs) are hypothetical bosons, each coupling to a lepton and a quark of a given generation. They recently got particular attention, as the "TeV-scale LQ" might explain observed anomalies reported by dedicated B physics experiments. In these proceedings, the recent progress of the direct searches on LQs at CMS experiment is presented. The results are based on a data sample of proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV, recorded with the CMS detector corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 35.9 fb-1.

Recent results of the searches for Supersymmetry in final states with one or two leptons at CMS are presented. Many Supersymmetry scenarios, including the Constrained Minimal Supersymmetric extension of the Standard Model (CMSSM), predict a substantial amount of events containing leptons, while the largest fraction of Standard Model background events -- which are QCD interactions -- gets strongly reduced by requiring isolated leptons. The analyzed data was taken in 2011 and corresponds to an integrated luminosity of approximately $\mathcal{L} = 1\,\text{fb}^{-1}$. The center-of-mass energy of …

Many models beyond the standard model predict the existence of vector-like quarks or other types of heavy resonances. Using proton-proton collision data at center-of-mass energies of 8 and 13 TeV, the ATLAS and CMS Collaborations have performed a multitude of searches for pair and singly produced vector-like quarks decaying to W, Z, or Higgs bosons. Heavy gauge and (pseudo)scalar resonances decaying to top quarks have been searched for as well. No evidence for any of these hypothetical particles has been found yet, and stringent exclusion limits are derived on their masses, cross sections and …

Searches for the direct pair production of the third generation squarks are presented in this conference report, based on proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV and corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 35.9 fb$^{-1}$, collected by the CMS detector. New techniques have been developed to address different kinematical regimes. A wide range of final states, from multi-leptonic to entirely hadronic is covered. Jet substructure techniques are employed to identify highly boosted heavy standard model particles in their hadronic decay modes.
A variety of models of physics beyond the standard model predict new particles that decay to leptons, jets, or both together. These models include axigluons, colorons, diquarks, excited quarks, heavy long-lived charged particles, leptoquarks, Randall-Sundrum gravitons, string resonances, and new vector bosons (right-handed W and Z'). Using the data collected in 2011 and 2012 at center-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV, the CMS collaboration has performed searches for these new particles in channels with leptons and jets. The results of these searches will be presented. No evidence of new physics…
An overview of recent searches with top quarks in the final state using up to 36 fb$^{-1}$ of pp collision data at $\sqrt{s}$ = 13 TeV collected with the ATLAS and CMS experiments at the LHC is presented. No significant excess over the SM prediction is found and 95% CL exclusion limits are set in a variety of models.
Long-lived particles are contained in a variety of beyond Standard Model theories, including supersymmetric models, universal extra dimensions, or technicolor theories. If the lifetime of such a particle is long enough, the particle can enter - or even pass through - the detector before it decays. Therefore, searches for long-lived particles require a very different search strategy compared to conventional searches for particles beyond the Standard Model. If the new particle is not only weakly interacting, the particle can be reconstructed itself and not only via its decay products. A very spe…
These proceedings summarize the results of four analyses which searched for squarks and gluinos in hadronic final states with missing transverse momentum in 2.3 fb$^{-1}$ of data in proton-proton collisions at $\sqrt{s}=13$ TeV collected in the year 2015 with the CMS detector at the CERN LHC. Each analysis is characterized by a different kinematic variable that is sensitive to the presence of invisible particles, e.g., $M_\text{T2}$, $α_{\text{T}}$, and razor variables. We observed no significant deviation from the standard model prediction and placed limits on the production cross sections an…

The Minimal Supersymmetric extension of the Standard Model (MSSM) predicts the existence of three neutral and two charged Higgs bosons. Searches for these MSSM Higgs bosons are presented, based on proton-proton collisions recorded in 2011 and 2012 by the ATLAS and CMS experiments at the LHC. The neutral Higgs bosons are searched through their decays into pairs of oppositely charged tau leptons. The exclusion limits at 95% confidence level are shown as a function of the $m_A$ and $\tanβ$ parameters. The search for the charged Higgs bosons is based on their production through the decays of top q…
A list of searches is presented for massive resonances decaying to WW, WZ, ZZ, WH, ZH and HH boson pairs in proton-proton collision data collected by the CMS experiment at the LHC. The data are taken at centre-of-mass energies of 13TeV, corresponding to respective integrated luminosities of 12.9/fb(ICHEP) and up to 35.9/fb. The results are interpreted in the context of heavy vector triplet and singlet models that mimic properties of composite-Higgs models predicting W' and Z' bosons decaying to WZ, WW, WH, and ZH bosons. A model with a bulk graviton that decays into WW and ZZ is also considere…

A search is presented for physics beyond the standard model in events with two opposite-sign, same-flavor leptons, jets and missing transverse momentum in the final state. The search is performed in a dataset of 35.9 $\mathrm{fb}^{-1}$ of $\sqrt{s} = $ 13 TeV pp collisions recorded by the CMS experiment in the year 2016. The search targets models in which a colored particle is produced. Models are considered, in which a kinematic edge is observed in the dilepton invariant mass distribution and models in which a Z boson arises in the decay chain of the SUSY particles. Such searches have been pe…
The top quark and its properties within and beyond the Standard Model will be extensively studied at the incoming Large Hadron Collider. Nonetheless the top quark will play the role of the main background for most of the Higgs and new physics searches. In this paper the top as a background to H=>WW=>2l2nu Higgs discovery channel will be studied. The current status of the Monte Carlo tools for t-tbar and single top simulation will be presented. Finally the problem on how to evaluate the top background from the data will be addressed and the related systematics will be discussed.
Searches in CMS for dark matter in final states with invisible particles recoiling against jets, top, W, Z, photon, and Higgs are presented. Various topologies are explored, covering several specific dark-matter production modes. The summary in a simplified-model framework of various searches for direct dark matter production with the CMS detector is discussed, highlighting sensitivities of the analyses under various assumptions of DM production.
We searched for the standard model Higgs boson in many different channels using approximately 5 fb-1 of 7 TeV pp collisions data collected with the CMS detector at LHC. Combining the results of the different searches we exclude at 95% confidence level a standard model Higgs boson with mass between 127.5 and 600 GeV. The expected 95% confidence level exclusion if the Higgs boson is not present is from 114.5 and 543 GeV. The observed exclusion is weaker than expected at low mass because of some excess that is observed below about 128 GeV. The most significant excess is found at 125 GeV with a lo…

The result is also presented for a search for the charged Higgs boson that can be produced in the top quark decay with subsequent decay of H+ in tau and neutrino. Results are also reported from a search for non-standard-model Higgs boson decays to pairs of new light bosons, each of which dec…
After the recent discovery of the Higgs boson, the next important goal is to measure its properties. Probing the Yukawa coupling of the Higgs boson to top quarks is a particularly important test of physics beyond the standard model. This coupling can be experimentally accessed by measuring the cross section of the Higgs boson production in association with a top quark pair ($t\bar{t}H$). The talk gives an overview of CMS results on $t\bar{t}H$ searches, using the full dataset of pp-collision data collected at the centre of mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV. All relevant Higgs boson decay modes have…
We present the first results on searches for new massive resonances decaying to a top-antitop quark ($t\bar{t}$) pair with the CMS detector at the LHC in proton-proton collisions with a center of mass energy of $\sqrt{s}=13~\mathrm{TeV}$. The data set considered corresponds to an integrated luminosity of $2.6~\mathrm{fb}^{-1}$ recorded during the the first year of the LHC Run-2. Searches are performed by measuring the invariant mass distribution of the $t\bar{t}$ system in semileptonic and fully-hadronic final states. Dedicated techniques are used to identify the decay of highly-boosted top qu…
We present some of the most recent results from the CMS Collaboration on searches for Higgs-like particles in models beyond the Standard Model. Several rare and exotic decay modes of the Higgs boson are explored. The results of the searches are relevant for establishing whether the 125 GeV particle observed in Higgs boson searches at the LHC has the properties expected for a Standard Model Higgs boson.
