A generalized version of the TKNN-equations computing Hall conductances for generalized Dirac-like Harper operators is derived. Geometrically these equations relate Chern numbers of suitable (dual) bundles naturally associated to spectral projections of the operators.

Kicked-Harper model vs On-Resonance Double Kicked Rotor Model: From Spectral Difference to Topological Equivalence

Recent studies have established that, in addition to the well-known kicked Harper model (KHM), an on-resonance double kicked rotor model (ORDKR) also has Hofstadter's butterfly Floquet spectrum, with strong resemblance to the standard Hofstadter's spectrum that is a paradigm in studies of the integer quantum Hall effect. Full measure reducibility and localization for Jacobi operators: a topological criterion

We establish a topological criterion for connection between reducibility to constant rotations and dual localization, for the general family of analytic quasiperiodic Jacobi operators. As a corollary, we obtain the sharp arithmetic phase transition for the extended Harper's model in the positive Lyapunov exponent region.

Spectral Aspects of the Skew-Shift Operator: A Numerical Perspective

In this paper we perform a numerical study of the spectra, eigenstates, and Lyapunov exponents of the skew-shift counterpart to Harper's equation. This study is motivated by various conjectures on the spectral theory of these 'pseudo-random' models, which are reviewed in detail in the initial sections of the paper. The numerics carried out at different scales are within agreement with the conjectures and show a striking difference compared with the spectral features of the Almost Mathieu model. Spectral equations for the modular oscillator

Motivated by applications for non-perturbative topological strings in toric Calabi--Yau manifolds, we discuss the spectral problem for a pair of commuting modular conjugate (in the sense of Faddeev) Harper type operators, corresponding to a special case of the quantized mirror curve of local $\mathbb{P}^1\times\mathbb{P}^1$ and complex values of Planck's constant. We illustrate our analytical results by numerical calculations.

Topological aspects of geometrical signatures of phase transitions

Certain geometric properties of submanifolds of configuration space are numerically investigated for classical lattice phi^4 models in one and two dimensions. Peculiar behaviors of the computed geometric quantities are found only in the two-dimensional case, when a phase transition is present. The observed phenomenology strongly supports, though in an indirect way, a recently proposed topological conjecture about a topology change of the configuration space submanifolds as counterpart of a phase transition.
