We present searches for rare or forbidden charm decays of the form $X_c^+\to h^\pm\ell^\mp\ell^{(\prime)+}$, where $X_c^+$ is a charm hadron ($D^+$, $D^+_s$, or $Λ_c^+$), $h^\pm$ is a pion, kaon, or proton, and $\ell^{(\prime)\pm}$ is an electron or muon. The analysis is based on $384 fb^{-1}$ of $e^+e^-$ annihilation data collected at or close to the $Υ(4S)$ resonance with the BaBar detector at the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory. No significant signal is observed for any of the 35 decay modes that are investigated. We establish 90% confidence-level upper limits on the branching fractions between $1 \times 10^{-6}$ and $44 \times 10^{-6}$ depending on the channel. In most cases, these results represent either the first limits or significant improvements on existing limits for the decay modes studied.
We present two topics on charm meson semileptonic decay. Evidence for interference in the decay K*munu and new results on the D+ to K*munu/K2pi branching fraction.
Precision results on the leptonic, semileptonic, and hadronic decays of charm mesons are reviewed. These results are important for timely progress in weak flavor physics both in their own right and as checks of theoretical calculations. Recent years have seen much progress on weak decays of charm, in both theory and experiment, a trend we expect to continue.
We review the recent results on D and Ds meson semileptonic decays from CLEO-c. Comparisons with lattice quantum chromodynamics (LQCD) calculations and implications for B physics are also discussed.
Using e+e- collision data in the sqrt{s} = 4 GeV energy region, CLEO-c has made extensive studies of semileptonic and leptonic decays of the D0, D+, and Ds+ charmed mesons. We report recent measurements of absolute branching fractions, form factors, and decay constants that serve as precision tests of theoretical calculations.
Several high energy experiments have been actively pursuing the analyses of semileptonic decays of charm mesons, resulting in numerous new results and publications. In this report, we summarize the recent efforts on the topics of pseudoscalar and vector charm semileptonic decays, especially in the area of branching fractions and form factor measurements.
Experimental results for the pseudoscalar decay constants f_{D} and f_{D_s} are reviewed. Semileptonic form factor results from D -> (pseudoscalar) l nu and D -> (vector) l nu decays are also reviewed.
A review of charm semileptonic decays results obtained at B factories is presented. It focuses on form factors measurements in $D^0\to K^- \ell^+ ν$, $D^0\to π^- \ell^+ ν$, $D_s^+ \to K^+K^- e^+ν_e$, and $D^+ \to K^-π^+ e^+ν_e$. For the last two decay channels, the contribution and characteristics of other components in the final state, in addition to the main vector contribution, is also studied.
We summarize recent data on 4-body charm semileptonic decay concentrating on \kklndk{} and \kpilndk{}. We begin with giving some motivation for the study of these decays. We discuss several of the models traditionally used to describe these decays and conclude by presenting a non-parametric analysis of \kpiendk{} and its possible extension into non-parametric studies of \kpimndk{}.
In this paper, we review recent progress in the field of semileptonic decays of charm mesons, including topics on the relative branching ratio and the form factors. The comparison between the experimental form factor measurements and the Lattice QCD calculations is emphasized.
We begin with giving some motivation for the study of charm semileptonic and fully leptonic decays. We turn next to a discussion of semileptonic absolution branching fraction results form CLEO-c. Two exciting high statistics results on fully leptonic decays of the D+ -> mu+ nu and Ds+ -> mu+ nu from CLEO-c and BaBar are reviewed. We turn next to a discussion of recent results on charm meson decay to pseudo-scalar l nu decays from FOCUS, BaBar, and CLEO-c. We conclude with a review of charm meson decay into Vector l nu.
We review the recent results on D and D_s meson semileptonic decays from CLEO-c, BABAR, and Belle. Comparisons with lattice quantum chromodynamics (LQCD) calculations and implications for B physics are also discussed.
The inclusive charm hadron semileptonic branching fractions B(c to e) and B(c to mu) in Z to ccbar events have been determined using 4.4 million hadronic Z decays collected with the OPAL detector at LEP. A charm-enriched sample is obtained by selecting events with reconstructed D*+- mesons. Using leptons found in the hemisphere opposite that of the D*+- mesons, the semileptonic branching fractions of charm hadrons are measured to be B(c to e) = 0.103 +-0.009 +0.009 -0.008 and B(c to mu) = 0.090 +-0.007 +0.007 -0.006 where the first errors are in each case statistical and the others systematic.…
Experiment E865 at the Brookhaven AGS was set up primarily to search for the lepton flavour violating decay $K^+\to π^+μ^+e^-$ ($K_{πμe}$) with high sensitivity. The flexibility of the apparatus allowed also to obtain more than an order of magnitude larger than previously available event samples on the following decay modes: $ π^+e^+e^- (K_{πee})$, $π^+μ^+μ^- (K_{πμμ})$, $π^+π^-e^+ν_e (K_{e4})$, $μ^+e^+e^-ν_μ$, and $e^+e^+e^-ν_e$. The report focusses on the $K_{πμe}$ results and those on other lepton flavour violating decays as well as the $K_{e4}$ data, from which a new, quite precise value f…
We present the first evidence for B semileptonic decays into the charmed baryon Lambda_c+ based on 420 fb-1 of data collected at the Upsilon(4S) resonance with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II e+e- storage rings. Events are tagged by fully reconstructing one of the B mesons in a hadronic decay mode. We measure the relative branching fraction BF(Bbar -> Lambda_c+ X l- nubar_l)/BF(Bbar -> Lambda_c+/Lambda_c- X) = (3.2 +/- 0.9_stat +/- 0.9_syst)%. The significance of the signal including the systematic uncertainty is 4.9 standard deviations.
We introduce a new method for selecting exclusive semileptonic charmless B-decays in the presence of a large background. The method can be applied to charged and neutral B-mesons decaying into any exclusive neutral or charged hadronic final state. The method is designed for high luminosity $\eplemi$ colliders operating at the $Υ(4S)$. It employs an improved partial reconstruction technique for $\Dstar$-mesons and a novel 0-C event fit to both B-meson's decay products resulting in the kinematics of all particles (including neutrinos) in the event. The charged lepton energies are accessible from…
We have studied semileptonic $B$ meson decays with a P-wave charm meson in the final state using 3.29 x 10^6 B\bar{B} events collected by the CLEO~II detector at the Cornell Electron-positron Storage Ring. We find a value for the exclusive semileptonic product branching fraction: Br(B^- -> D_1^0 l^- \barν) x Br(D_1^0 -> D^{*+}π^-) = (0.373 \pm 0.085 \pm 0.052 \pm 0.024)% and an upper limit for Br(B^- -> D_2^{*0} l^- \barν) x Br(D_2^{*0} -> D^{*+}π^-) < 0.16%$ (90% C.L.). These results indicate that at least 20% of the total B^- semileptonic rate is unaccounted for by the observed exclusive dec…
We present the partial branching fraction for inclusive charmless semileptonic B decays and the corresponding value of the CKM matrix element |Vub|, using a multivariate analysis method to access ~90% of the B -> Xu l nu phase space. This approach dramatically reduces the theoretical uncertainties from the b-quark mass and non-perturbative QCD compared to all previous inclusive measurements. The results are based on a sample of 657 million B -Bbar pairs collected with the Belle detector. We find that Delta BR(B -> Xu l nu; p^*B_l>1.0 GeV/c=1.963 x (1 +/- 0.088(stat.) +/- 0.081(sys.)) x 10^-3. …
We study semileptonic B decay to the exclusive charmless states pi, rho/omega, eta and eta' using the 16 fb-1 CLEO Upsilon(4S) data sample. We find B(B^0 -> pi^-l^+nu) = (1.37 +- 0.15_stat +- 0.11_sys) x 10^-4 and B(B^0 -> rho^- l^+ nu) = (2.93 +- 0.37_stat +- 0.37_sys) x 10^-4, and find evidence for B^+ -> eta' l^+ nu, with B(B^+ -> eta' l^+ nu) = (2.66 +- 0.80_stat +- 0.56_sys ) x 10^-4. From our B -> pi l nu rate for q^2 > 16 GeV^2 and lattice QCD we find |V_{ub}| = (3.6 +- 0.4_stat +- 0.2_syst +0.6-0.4_thy) x 10^-3.
Leptonic and semileptonic decays in the charm sector have been well studied in recent years. With the largest data sample near $D\bar D$ threshold, precision measurements of leptonic and semileptonic decays of charm meson and baryon are perfromed at BESIII. Test for letpon flavor universality is also performed. Sensitivity for rare leptonic and semileptonic charm decays is significantly improved taking advantage of the huge statistics in LHCb and the $B$ factories.
We report a measurement of the inclusive charmless semileptonic branching fraction of B mesons in a sample of 89 million BBbar events recorded with the BABAR detector at the Y(4S) resonance. Events are selected by fully reconstructing the decay of one B meson and identifying a charged lepton from the decay of the other B meson. The number of signal events is extracted from the hadronic mass distribution and is used to determine the ratio of branching fractions BR(B->Xulnu)/BR(B->Xlnu) = (2.06 +/-0.25(stat) +/-0.23(syst) +/-0.36(theo)) x 10^{-2}. Using the measured branching fraction for inclus…
The following is an overview of the current status of charmless semileptonic B decays and the extraction of the CKM matrix element $|V_{ub}|$ by the Belle and BaBaR collaborations.
Charmless semileptonic decays, ${\bar{B}} \to X_u \ell \barν$, are studied in a sample of 232 million $B\bar{B}$ decays recorded with the BaBar detector, in events where the decay of the second $B$ meson is fully reconstructed. Inclusive charmless decays are selected in kinematic regions where the dominant background from semileptonic B decays to charm is reduced by requirements on the hadronic mass $M_X$ and the momentum transfer $q^2$. The partial branching fraction for ${\bar{B}} \to X_u \ell \barν$ decays for $M_X<1.7$ GeV/c^2 and $q^2>8$ Gev^2/c^4 is measured to be $Δ{\cal{B}}({\bar{B}} \…
We search for signals of Weak Annihilation in inclusive semileptonic D decays. We consider both the widths and the lepton energy moments, which are quite sensitive probes. Our analysis of Cleo data shows no clear evidence of Weak Annihilation, and allows us to put bounds on their relevance in charmless B semileptonic decays.
We present a preliminary measurement of the branching fraction for B to rho e nu and of the CKM matrix element |Vub| using approximately 55 million B Bbar meson pairs collected with the BABAR detector. Using isospin relations for several modes we find BF(B0 to rho- e+ nu) = (3.39+-0.44+-0.52+-0.60)x10^(-4) and |Vub| = (3.69+-0.23+-0.27+0.40-0.59)x10^(-3). The quoted errors are statistical, systematic, and theoretical, respectively. These results are obtained by using five different form-factor calculations.
We review measurements of semileptonic and leptonic charm meson decays performed by the Belle experiment, and we use these results to estimate the sensitivity of the follow-on Belle II experiment to these decays.
We have measured the inclusive semileptonic branching fractions of $D^0$, $D^+$, and $D^+_s$ mesons. For these measurements, we have used the full CLEO-c open-charm data samples, 818 pb$^{-1}$ at $E_\text{CM} = 3.774$ GeV, giving $D^0 \bar{D}^0$ and $D^+ D^-$ events, and 602 pb$^{-1}$ at $E_\text{CM} = 4.170$ GeV, giving $D^{\ast \pm}_s D^\mp_s$ events. We obtain $\mathcal{B}(D^0 \to X e^+ ν_e) = (6.46 \pm 0.09 \pm 0.11)$%, $\mathcal{B}(D^+ \to X e^+ ν_e) = (16.13 \pm 0.10 \pm 0.29)$%, and $\mathcal{B}(D^+_s \to X e^+ ν_e) = (6.52 \pm 0.39 \pm 0.15)$%, where the first uncertainties are statist…
Using a high statistics sample of photo-produced charm particles from the FOCUS experiment at Fermilab, we report results of a search for eight rare and Standard-Model-forbidden decays: D+, Ds+ > h+/- muon-/+ muon+ (with h=pion or Kaon). Improvement over previous results by a factor of 1.7--14 is realized. Our branching ratio upper limit D+ > pion+ muon- muon+ of 8.8E-6 at the 90% C.L. is below the current MSSM R-Parity violating constraint.
A preliminary result on the study of the inclusive electron spectrum in B -> X_u e nu decays above the kinematic limit for the dominant B -> X_c e nu transitions is presented. This study is performed at the PEP-II asymmetric B Factory, where B meson pairs are produced in the decay of the Upsilon(4S) resonance. For the electron momentum range of 2.3 - 2.6 GeV/c in the Upsilon(4S) rest frame, the partial branching ratio is measured to be Delta B(B -> X_u e nu)=(0.152+-0.014+-0.014) 10^{-3}.
This paper presents the results of searches for the flavor-changing neutral current, lepton-number-violating and lepton-flavor-violating processes in the charm mesons decays. Recent results from charged $D$ mesons decays to final states with dielectrons from CLEO-c are reported. The prospects of the searches for the rare charm decays at BES-III are also discussed.
Motivated by recent experimental results we reconsider semileptonic D to P l nu_l and D to V l nu_l decays within a model which combines heavy quark symmetry and properties of the chiral Lagrangian. Using limits of soft collinear effective theory and heavy quark effective theory we parametrize the semileptonic form factors. We include excited charm meson states in our Lagrangians and determine their impact on the charm meson semileptonic form factors. Then we calculate branching ratios for all D to P l nu_l and D to V l nu_l decays.
We investigate the decays D^0 --> pi^- l^+ nu and D^0 --> K^- l^+ nu, where l = e or mu, using approximately 7 fb^{-1} of data collected with the CLEO III detector. We find R_0 = B(D->pienu)/B(D->Kenu) = 0.082 +- 0.006 +- 0.005. Fits to the kinematic distributions of the data provide parameters describing the form factor of each mode. Combining the form factor results and R_0 gives |f^pi_+(0)|^2 |V_{cd}|^2/|f^K_+(0)|^2 |V_{cs}|^2 = 0.038 +0.006- 0.007 +0.005-0.003.
Using data collected by the CLEO II detector at the center-of-mass energy on or near the Upsilon(4S) resonance, we have determined the 90% confidence level upper limit B(Bbar --> Lambda_c^+ e- X)/B(Bbar --> Lambda_c^+ X, Lambdabar_c^- X) < 0.05 for electrons with momentum above 0.6 GeV/c. We have also derived the ratio B(B^- --> Lambda_c^+ pbar e- nubar_e)/B(Bbar --> Lambda_c^+ pbar X) < 0.04 at the 90% confidence level and measured the ratio B(Bbar --> Lambda_c^+ pbar X)/B(Bbar --> Lambda_c^+ X, Lambdabar_c^- X) = 0.57 +- 0.05 +- 0.05.
We report recent results from the BABAR experiment on semileptonic charmless B-meson decays and electroweak penguin processes. Semileptonic charmless decays are used to determine |Vub| and the exclusive modes considered here also begin to constrain QCD-lattice form factor calculations. Radiative penguin decays are both sensitive to physics beyond the Standard Model and can be used to extract Heavy Quark parameters related to the b-quark mass and its motion inside the hadron.
Knowing the mass of the b-quark is essential to the study of the structure and decays of B mesons as well as to future tests of the Higgs mechanism of mass generation. We present recent preliminary measurements of the b-quark mass and related nonperturbative parameters from moments of kinematic distributions in charmed and charmless semileptonic and radiative penguin B decays. Their determination from charmless semileptonic B decays is the first measurement in this mode. The data were collected by the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy e+e- -collider at the Stanford Linear Accelera…
The decay chain b -> Bbar -> D^{**0} l nu X, D^{**0} -> D^{*+} pi^-, D^{*+} -> D^0 pi^+, D^0 ->(Kpi or K3pi) is identified in a sample of 3.9 million hadronic Z decays collected with the OPAL detector at LEP. The branching ratio BR (b -> Bbar) x BR (Bbar -> D^0_1 l nu X) x BR (D^0_1 -> D^{*+} pi^-) is measured to be (2.64 +- 0.79 (stat) +- 0.39 (syst)) X 10^-3 for the J^P = 1^+ (D^0_1) state. For decays into the J^P = 2^+ (D^{*0}_2) state, an upper limit of 1.4 X 10^-3 is placed on the branching ratio at the 95% confidence level.
We investigate the decays $D^0\toπ^-\ell^+ν$ and $D^0\to K^-\ell^+ ν$, where $\ell$ is $e$ or $μ$, using approximately 7 ${\rm fb}^{-1}$ of data collected with the CLEO III detector. We find $R_0\equiv {\cal B}(D^0\to π^-e^+ν)/{\cal B}(D^0\to K^-e^+ν)= 0.082 \pm 0.006 \pm 0.005$. Fits to the kinematic distributions of the data provide parameters describing the form factor of each mode. Combining the form factor results and $R_0$ gives $|f^π_{+}(0)|^2 |V_{cd}|^2/|f^K_{+}(0)|^2 |V_{cs}|^2 = 0.038^{+0.006+0.005}_{-0.007-0.003}$.
Using a high statistics sample of photo-produced charm particles from the FOCUS experiment at Fermilab, we report on the measurement of the ratio of semileptonic rates Γ(D+ > ANTI-K pi mu+ nu)/Γ(D+ > ANTI-K0 mu+ nu)= 0.625 +/- 0.045 +/- 0.034. Allowing for the K pi S-wave interference measured previously by FOCUS, we extract the vector to pseudoscalar ratio Γ(D+ > ANTI-K*0 mu+ nu)/Γ(D+ > ANTI-K0 mu+ nu)= 0.594 +/- 0.043 +/- 0.033 and the ratio Γ(D+ > ANTI-K0 mu+ nu)/Γ(D+ > K- pi+ pi+)= 1.019 +/- 0.076 +/- 0.065. Our results show a lower ratio for Γ(D > K* \ell nu})/Γ(D > K \ell nu) than has be…
We have studied semileptonic B decay to the exclusive charmless states pi, rho/omega, eta and eta' using the full 15.5 fb^-1 CLEO Upsilon(4S) sample, with measurements performed in subregions of phase space to minimize dependence on a priori knowledge of the form factors involved. We find total branching fractions B(B^0 -> pi^-l^+nu) = (1.37 +- 0.15_stat +- 0.11_sys) x 10^-4 and B(B^0 -> rho^- l^+ nu) = (2.93 +- 0.37_stat +- 0.37_sys) x 10^-4. We find evidence for B^+ -> eta' l^+ nu, with B(B^+ -> eta' l^+ nu) = (2.66 +- 0.80_stat +- 0.56_sys) x 10^-4 and 1.20 x 10^-4 < B(B^+ -> eta' l^+ nu) <…
I briefly review the results of recent searches for flavor-changing neutral current and lepton-flavor and lepton-number violating decays of D+, Ds, and D0 mesons (and their antiparticles) into modes containing muons and electrons. The primary focus is the results from Fermilab charm hadroproduction experiment E791. E791 examined 24 pi,l,l and K,l,l decay modes of D+ and Ds and l+l- decay modes of D0. Limits presented by E791 for 22 rare and forbidden dilepton decays of D mesons were more stringent than those obtained from previous searches, or else were the first reported.
In these proceedings, we explore the possible reach of the LHCb dataset in the area of charm semileptonic decays. Specifically, we give prospects for the measurement of $|V_{cs}|/|V_{cd}|$ using $\mathcal{B}(D^0\to K^-μ^+ν_μ)/\mathcal{B}(D^0\toπ^-μ^+ν_μ)$ with Run I data. Preliminary projections show that the LHCb Run I dataset would give a relative statistical uncertainty of $\sim 0.2\%$ on this ratio. We also motivate the search for lepton non-universality in the charm sector.
We present a preliminary determination of the CKM matrix element |Vub| based on the analysis of semileptonic B decays from a sample of 88 million Upsilon(4S) decays collected with the BaBar detector at the e+e- storage ring. Charmless semileptonic B decays are selected using the electron energy E_e and the invariant mass q^2 of the electron-neutrino pair. The neutrino momentum is inferred from a measurement of the visible energy and momentum in the detector and knowledge of the e+e- beam momenta. The partial branching fraction is determined in a region of the q^2-E_e plane where semileptonic B…
The BaBar Collaboration has recently reported products of branching fractions that include $B$ meson semileptonic decays into final states with charged and neutral $D_{1}(2420)$ and $D_{2}^{\ast}(2460)$, two narrow orbitally excited charmed mesons. We evaluate these branching fractions, together with those concerning $D_{0}^{\ast}(2400)$ and $D_{1}'(2430)$ mesons, within the framework of a constituent quark model. The calculation is performed in two steps, one of which involves a semileptonic decay and the other is mediated by a strong process. Our results are in agreement with the experimenta…
We evaluate exclusive semileptonic decays of ground-state spin-1/2 doubly heavy charmed baryons. The decays are driven by a $c\to s,d$ transition at the quark level. Our form factors are consistent with Heavy Quark Symmetry constraints. The latter are valid in the limit of infinitely heavy quark mass at zero recoil.
We study the semileptonic differential decay rates of $B_c$ meson to S-wave charmonia, $η_c$ and $J/Ψ$, at the next-to-leading order accuracy in the framework of NRQCD. In the heavy quark limit, $m_b \to \infty$, we obtain analytically the asymptotic expression for the ratio of NLO form factor to LO form factor. Numerical results show that the convergence of the ratio is perfect. At the maximum recoil region, we analyze the differential decay rates in detail with various input parameters and polarizations of $J/ψ$, which can now be checked in the LHCb experiment. Phenomenologically, the form f…
We present a measurement of the inclusive electron spectrum in charmless semileptonic B decays near the kinematic limit for B->X_c eνtransitions, using a sample of 88 million Upsilon(4S) decays recorded by the BABAR detector. Partial branching fraction measurements are performed in five overlapping intervals of the electron momentum. For the interval of 2.0-2.6 GeV/c we obtain ΔBr(B->X_u eν) = (0.572+-0.041(stat)+-0.065(syst))x10^{-3}. Combining this result with shape function parameters extracted from BABAR measurements of moments of the inclusive photon spectrum in B->X_s+gamma decays and mo…
This work summarizes the current status of the measured semileptonic branching fractions $B^{0,+} \to X_c μν$. The sum of exclusive measurements is compared with the inclusive determination, accounting for isospin extrapolation. Further derived quantities are computed, taking into account different explanations for the unmeasured components of the total branching fraction. These quantities focus on the charge breakdown of the final states, and are designed for use as inputs or comparisons in future experimental measurements.
We present a preliminary measurement of the inclusive charmless semileptonic branching fraction of the B meson, based on $140 fb^{-1}$ of data collected by the Belle detector at the KEKB $e^+e^-$ asymmetric collider. Events are tagged by fully reconstructing one of the B mesons, produced in pairs from $Υ(4S)$. The signal for $b \to u$ semileptonic decay is distinguished from the $b \to c$ semileptonic background using the hadronic and leptonic invariant mass distributions $M_X$ and $q^2$. We find the partial branching fraction for the kinematical region given by $M_X < 1.7 GeV/c^2$ and $q^2>8 …
Using limits of large energy effective theory and heavy quark effective theory we propose a simple parametrization of the heavy to light H to V semileptonic form factors. Then we reconsider D to V l nu_l decays within a model which combines heavy meson and chiral symmetry. In our Lagrangians we include contributions coming from excited charm meson states, some of them recently observed. Within this framework we determine all parameters describing the shapes of the form factors and calculate branching ratios and helicity ratios for all D to V l nu_l decays.
We discuss semileptonic B decays of the form B -> J/Psi e nu X as possible probes of intrinsic charm. We calculate the leading order perturbative contribution to the process B- -> J/Psi e- nu_e X and find it to be unobservably small, with a branching ratio ~ 10^-10. We propose a modified spectator model to estimate the intrinsic charm contribution and find that it can be significantly larger, with a branching ratio for B -> (c cbar) e- nu_e X as large as 5 X 10^-7. We show that the process could be observed at these levels by CDF assuming a Run II integrated luminosity of 15 fb^-1, making this…
Within the framework of phenomenological Lagrangians we construct the effective action of QCD relevant for the study of semileptonic decays of charmed mesons. Hence we evaluate the form factors of D -> P(0^-) l^+ nu_l at leading order in the 1/N_C expansion and, by demanding their QCD-ruled asymptotic behaviour, we constrain the couplings of the Lagrangian. The features of the model-independent parameterization of form factors provided and their relevance for the analysis of experimental data are pointed out.
We report the results of a search for flavor-changing neutral current, lepton-flavor, and lepton-number violating decays of the 3 and 4-body decay modes of D0 (and its antiparticle) containing muons and electrons. Using data from Fermilab charm hadroproduction experiment E791, we examine modes with two leptons and either a Rho(0), Kstar, or Phi vector meson or a non-resonant Pi Pi, K Pi, or K K pair of pseudoscalar mesons. No evidence for any of these decays is found. Therefore, we present branching-fraction upper limits at 90% confidence level for the 27 decay modes examined (18 new).
In this work we study the semileptonic decays of $B_c$ meson. We evaluated $B_{c}\rightarrow D(D^{\ast})$, $B_{c}\rightarrow D_s(D_s^{\ast})$ and $B_{c}\rightarrow η_{c}(J/ψ)$ transitions form factors in the full kinematical region within the covariant quark model. The calculated form factors are used to evaluate the semileptonic decays of $B_c$ meson and it was defined ratios ($R_{η_{c}}$, $R_{J/ψ}$, $R_{ D}$ ,$R_{ D^{\ast}}$) of the branching ratios, which will be hopefully tested on LHC experiments.We compare the obtained results with the results from other theoretical approaches.
We present a study of B decays into semileptonic final states containing charged and neutral $D_1(2420)$ and $D_2^*(2460)$. The analysis is based on a data sample of $208 fb^{-1}$ collected at the $Υ(4S)$ resonance with the BaBar detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy $B$ Factory at SLAC. With a simultaneous fit to four different decay chains, the semileptonic branching fractions are extracted from measurements of the mass difference $Δm=m(D**)-m(D)$ distributions. Product branching fractions are determined to be $BR(B^+ -> D_1^0 \ell^+ ν_{\ell}) x BR(D_1^0 -> D*^+ π^-) = (2.97 +/- 0.17 +/- …
We report the results of a blind search for flavor-changing neutral current, lepton-flavor violating, and lepton-number violating decays of D+, D(s)+, and D0 mesons (and their antiparticles) into modes containing muons and electrons. Using data from Fermilab charm hadroproduction experiment E791, we examine the pi l l and K l l decay modes of D+ and D(s)+ and the l+ l- decay modes of D0. No evidence for any of these decays is found. Therefore, we present branching-fraction upper limits at 90% confidence level for the 24 decay modes examined. Eight of these modes have no previously reported lim…
Using a sample of 1.8 million DDbar meson pairs collected at the psi(3770) with the CLEO-c detector, we study the semileptonic decays D^0 -> pi^- e^+ nu_e, D^+ -> pi^0 e^+ ν_e, D^0 -> K^- e^+ ν_e, and D^+ -> Kbar^0 e^+ nu_e. For the total branching fractions we find B(D^0 -> pi^- e^+ ν_e) = 0.299(11)(9)%, B(D^+ -> pi^0 e^+ ν_e) = 0.373(22)(13)%, B(D^0 -> K^- e^+ nu_e) = 3.56(3)(9)%, and B(D^+ -> Kbar^0 e^+ nu_e) = 8.53(13)(23)%, where the first error is statistical and the second systematic. In addition, form factors are studied through fits to the partial branching fractions obtained in five …

We discuss production of charmed mesons as well as electrons/muons from semileptonic decays of charm and bottom mesons in proton-proton collisions at the LHC. The cross section for inclusive production of $c \bar c$ and $b \bar b$ pairs is calculated in the framework of the $k_{\perp}$-factorization approach. Here, the KMR and Jung CCFM unintegrated gluon distribution functions are used. Theoretical uncertainties of the model related to the choice of renormalization and factorization scales as well as due to the quark mass are also discussed. The hadronization of charm and bottom quarks is inc…
Inspired by a series of unexpected measurements of semileptonic decays mediated via $b\rightarrow c $ charged current interactions, we explore semileptonic $B_c$ decays to the four lightest $P$-wave charmonium states, $χ_{c0}, χ_{c1}, χ_{c2}, h_c$, by the recently developed improved perturbative QCD formalism, in which the charm quark mass effect is included both in the Sudakov factor and the hard kernels. We first directly evaluate the concerned transition form factors with vector and axial-vector currents in the region of small momentum transfer squared, and then recast them to the full kine…
