Reference heavy flavour cross sections in pp collisions at sqrt(s) = 2.76 TeV, using a pQCD-driven sqrt(s)-scaling of ALICE measurements at sqrt(s) = 7 TeV

We provide a reference in proton-proton collisions at the energy of the Pb-Pb 2010 run at the LHC, sqrt(s) = 2.76 TeV, for the pt-differential production cross section of D0, D+, and D*+ mesons in |y| < 0.5, of electrons from heavy flavour decays in |y| < 0.9, and of muons from heavy flavour decays in 2.5 < y < 4. The reference is obtained by applying a pQCD-driven scaling (based on the FONLL calculation) to ALICE preliminary data at sqrt(s) = 7 TeV. In order to validate the procedure, we scale the D meson cross section to sqrt(s) = 1.96 TeV and compare to the corresponding measurements from the CDF experiment.

System Size and Flavour Dependence of Chemical Freeze-out Temperatures in ALICE Data from pp, pPb and PbPb Collisions at LHC Energies

We present the system size and flavour dependence of the chemical freeze-out temperature ($T_\mathrm{ch}$) at vanishing baryo-chemical potential calculated via thermal fits to experimental yields for several multiplicity classes in pp, pPb and PbPb collisions measured by ALICE. Heavy flavour measurements with the ALICE experiment at the LHC

Heavy quarks (charm and beauty) are produced early in the nucleus-nucleus collisions, and heavy flavor survives throughout the later stages. Heavy quarks created in ultra-relativistic heavy-ion collisions are mostly produced in hard QCD processes during the early stages of the reaction. Heavy Flavour Hadro-Production from Fixed-Target to Collider Energies

We review the hadro-production data presently available on open charm and beauty absolute production cross-sections, collected by experiments at CERN, DESY and Fermilab. Flavour and Energy Dependence of Chemical Freeze-out Temperatures in Relativistic Heavy Ion Collisions from RHIC-BES to LHC Energies

We present calculations of the chemical freeze-out temperature (T_ch) based on particle yields from STAR and ALICE measured at collision energies ranging from sqrt{s_{NN}} = 11.5 GeV to 5.02 TeV. Employing the Grand Canonical Ensemble approach using the Thermal-FIST Hadron Resonance Gas model package, we show evidence for a flavour-dependent chemical freeze-out in the crossover region of the QCD phase diagram. At a vanishing baryochemical potential, we calculate light and strange flavour freeze-out temperatures T_L = 150.2 +- 2.6 MeV and T_S = 165.1 +- 2.7 MeV, respectively.

Heavy flavour energy loss from AdS/CFT: A novel diffusion coefficient

Two AdS/CFT based energy loss models are used to compute the suppression and azimuthal correlations of heavy quarks in heavy ion collisions. The model with a velocity independent diffusion coefficient is in good agreement with B and D meson data up to high $p_T$. The partonic azimuthal correlations we calculate exhibit an order of magnitude difference in low momentum correlations to pQCD calculations [arXiv:1305.3823]. We thus propose heavy flavour momentum correlations as a distinguishing observable of weakly- and strongly-coupled energy loss mechanisms.

Probing quark gluon plasma properties by heavy flavours

The Fokker Planck (FP) equation has been solved to study the interaction of non-equilibrated heavy quarks with the Quark Gluon Plasma (QGP) expected to be formed in heavy ion collisions at RHIC energies. The solutions of the FP equation have been convoluted with the relevant fragmentation functions to obtain the $D$ and $B$ meson spectra. The results are compared with experimental data measured by STAR collaboration. Revisiting the D-meson hadroproduction in general-mass variable flavour number scheme

We introduce a novel realization of the open heavy-flavour hadroproduction in general-mass variable flavour number scheme at next-to-leading order in perturbative QCD. The principal novelty with respect to the earlier works is in the treatment of small-transverse-momentum limit, which has been a particularly challenging kinematic region in the past. Exclusive J/ψ production in ultraperipheral collisions at the LHC: constrains on the gluon distributions in the proton and nuclei

Using the framework of collinear factorization in perturbative QCD (pQCD), we analyze the recent data of the LHCb and ALICE collaborations on exclusive photoproduction of J/ψ in ultraperipheral pp and AA collisions, respectively. We demonstrate that the simultaneous analysis of the proton and Pb data allows us to reduce the ambiguity of the pQCD description of the $γp \to J/ψp$ and $γA \to J/ψp$ cross sections and, hence, to place additional constraints on the gluon distributions in the nucleon and nuclei at small x. Momentum dependence of drag coefficients and heavy flavour suppression in quark gluon plasma

The momentum dependence of the drag coefficient of heavy quarks propagating through quark gluon plasma (QGP) has been evaluated. The results have been used to estimate the nuclear suppression factor of charm and bottom quarks in QGP. We observe that the momentum dependence of the transport coefficients plays crucial role in the suppression of the heavy quarks and consequently in discerning the properties of QGP using heavy flavours as a probe. Study of heavy meson production in p-Pb collisions at $\sqrt{S}$=5.02 TeV in the general-mass variable-flavour-number scheme

We study inclusive charm and bottom production, for both D and B mesons, in p-Pb collisions at the LHC. Numerical results for p_T-differential production cross sections are obtained at next-to-leading-order in the general-mass variable-flavor-number scheme. Centrality dependence of nuclear suppression of D mesons in $p$+Pb collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}$ = 5.02 TeV

In this paper we have shown theoretical model comparisons with ALICE results for average D mesons (D$^0$, D$^+$, D$^{*+}$ and $D^+_s$) in $p$+Pb collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}$ = 5.02 TeV for various centralities.
