Given the short lifetime and the reduced volume of the quark-gluon plasma (QGP) formed in high-energy heavy ion collisions, a possible critical endpoint (CEP) will be blurred in a region and the effects from criticality severely smoothened. Nevertheless, the non-monotonic behavior of correlation functions near criticality for systems of different sizes, given by different centralities in heavy ion collisions, must obey finite-size scaling. We apply the predicting power of scaling plots to the search for the CEP of strong interactions in heavy ion collisions using data from RHIC and SPS. The results of our data analysis exclude a critical point below chemical potentials $μ\sim 450 $MeV. Extrapolating the analysis, we speculate that criticality could appear slightly above $μ\sim 500 $MeV. Using available data we extrapolate our scaling curves to predict the behavior of new data at lower center-of-mass energy, currently being investigated in the Beam Energy Scan program at RHIC. If it turns out that the QGP phase is no longer achievable in heavy ion experiments before the CEP is reached, FSS might be the only way to experimentally estimate its position in the phase diagram.
After reviewing the evidence that QCD matter at ultrarelativistic energies behaves as a very good fluid, we describe the connection of QCD fluidity to heavy quark observables. We review the way in which heavy quark spectra can place tighter limits on the viscosity of QCD matter. Finally, we show that correlations between flow observables and the event-by-event charm quark abundance ("flavoring") can shed light on the system's equation of state.
Recently we have proved the NRQCD factorization in heavy quarkonium production at high energy colliders at all orders in coupling constant. In this paper we extend this to non-equilibrium QCD and prove the NRQCD factorization in heavy quarkonium production at all orders in coupling constant in non-equilibrium QCD. This proof is necessary to study heavy quarkonium production from quark gluon plasma at RHIC and LHC.
The heavy quark production in ultraperipheral heavy ion collisions is investigated, in particular we focus on the results from the coherent interactions given by the two-photon process. One addresses the heavy quark total cross sections at photon level considering the saturation model and the BFKL dynamics in the color dipole picture. The corresponding cross sections at nuclear level are presented. It is verified that the QCD dynamics implies an enhancement of the cross section in comparison with previous calculations.
We explore the temperature dependence of the heavy-quarkonium interaction based on the Bhanot-Peskin leading order perturbative QCD analysis. The Wilson coefficients are computed solving the Schrodinger equation in a screened Coulomb heavy-quark potential. The inverse Mellin transform of the Wilson coefficients then allows for the computation of the 1S and 2S heavy-quarkonium gluon and pion total cross section at finite screening/temperature. As a phenomenological illustration, the temperature dependence of the 1S charmonium thermal width is determined and compared to recent lattice QCD result…
We calculate the photonuclear production of heavy quarks in ultraperipheral heavy ion collisions. The integrated cross section and the rapidity distribution are computed employing sound high energy QCD formalisms as the collinear and semihard approaches as well as the saturation model. In particular, the color glass condensate (CGC) formalism is also considered using a simple phenomenological parameterization for the color field correlator in the medium, which allow us to obtain more reliable estimates for charm and bottom production at LHC energies.
We derive the chiral effective Lagrangian for heavy-light mesons in the heavy quark limit from QCD under proper approximations. The low energy constants in the effective Lagrangian are expressed in terms of the light quark self-energy. With typical forms of the running coupling constant of QCD and the quark self-energy obtained from Dyson-Schwinger equations as well as lattice QCD, we estimate the low energy constants in the model and the strong decay widths. A comparison with data and some discussions of the numerical results are presented.
We briefly discuss the status of the signatures of the QCD critical endpoint in heavy-ion collisions concentrating on the role played by the finiteness of the medium created in such experiments.
We consider the experimental implications of the axial current triangle diagram anomaly in a hydrodynamic description of high density QCD. We propose a signal of an enhanced production of spin-excited hadrons in the direction of the rotation axis in off-central heavy ion collisions.
Recently we have proved NRQCD color octet factorization of S-wave and P-wave heavy quarkonia production at all orders in coupling constant in QCD in vacuum at high energy colliders in Eur. Phys. J. C76 (2016) 448 and in arXiv:1807.04722 [hep-ph] respectively. In this paper we extend this to prove NRQCD color octet factorization of P-wave heavy quarkonium production in non-equilibrium QCD at RHIC and LHC at all orders in coupling constant. This proof is necessary to study the quark-gluon plasma at RHIC and LHC.
In this paper we show that the intrinsic heavy-quark QCD mechanism for the hadroproduction of heavy hadrons at large $x_F$ can resolve the apparent conflict between measurements of double-charm baryons by the SELEX fixed-target experiment and the LHCb experiment at the LHC collider. We show that both experiments are compatible, and that both results can be correct. The observed spectroscopy of double-charm hadrons is in agreement with the predictions of supersymmetric light front holographic QCD.
We report the current understanding of heavy quarkonium production at high transverse momentum ($p_T$) in hadronic collisions in terms of QCD factorization. In this presentation, we highlight the role of subleading power corrections to heavy quarkonium production, which are essential to describe the $p_T$ spectrum of quarkonium at a relatively lower $p_T$. We also introduce prescription to match QCD factorization to fixed-order NRQCD factorization calculations for quarkonium production at low $p_T$.
Heavy quark dynamics in an anisotropic QCD medium have been analyzed within the Fokker-Planck approach. Heavy quark drag force and momentum diffusion tensor have been decomposed by employing a general tensor basis for an anisotropic medium. Depending upon the relative orientation of the direction of the momentum anisotropy of the medium and heavy quark motion, two drag and four diffusion coefficients have been estimated in the anisotropic QCD medium. The relative significance of different components of drag and momentum diffusion coefficients has been explored. The dependence of the angle betw…
This paper provides results for the ground state and excited spectra of three-flavored doubly heavy baryons, $bcn$ and $bcs$. We take advantage of the spin-independent interaction recently obtained to reconcile the lattice SU(3) QCD static potential and the results of nonperturbative lattice QCD for the triply heavy baryon spectra. We show that the spin-dependent potential might be constrained on the basis of nonperturbative lattice QCD results for the spin splittings of three-flavored doubly heavy baryons. Our results may also represent a challenge for future lattice QCD work, because a small…
We derive an expression for the heavy quark damping rate in hot quark gluon plasma in presence of flow. Here all the bath particles here are out of equilibrium due to the existence of non-zero velocity gradient. The magnetic sector shows similar infrared divergences even after hard thermal loop corrections as one encounters in case of non-viscous plasma. We estimate the first order correction in ($η/s$) for heavy quark damping rate due to the non-zero viscosity of the QCD plasma.
Compared with lattice QCD, isospin breaking of heavy-meson decay constants from QCD sum rules agrees for $D$ mesons but disagrees (by a factor of four) for $B$ mesons.
We review the recent theoretical progress in heavy quarkonium spectroscopy within the boundstate theory based on perturbative QCD. New microscopic pictures of the heavy quarkonium systems are obtained.
QCD sum rules for decay constants of heavy mesons with $u$ or $d$ quark yield for $B$ mesons much less isospin breaking than lattice QCD but good agreement for $D$ mesons.
In this talk, we give a short review of our recent works on studying the singly heavy baryon, doubly heavy baryon, and triply heavy baryon spectra from QCD sum rules.
I review recent progress in lattice QCD at non-zero temperature whith emphasis on the calculations of equation of state and the properties of heavy quar anti-quark pairs at high temperatures. I also briefly discuss the deconfinement and chiral symmetry restoring aspects of the QCD transition at finite temperature
Slight sophistications of the QCD sum-rule formalism may have great impact on the reliability of predicted hadron observables, as exemplified for the case of heavy-meson decay constants.
Masses of the p-wave excited heavy baryons have been calculated to the Lambda_{QCD}/m_Q order using QCD sum rule method within the framework of heavy quark effective theory. Numerical results for kinetic energy lambda_1 and chromo-magnetic interaction lambda_2 are presented. The splitting between spin 1/2 and 3/2 doublet derived from our calculation is given, for which the agreement with the current experiment is desirable.
We consider propagation of heavy quarks in QCD matter. Because of large quark mass, the radiative quark energy loss appears to be qualitatively different from that of light quarks at all energies of practical importance. Finite quark mass effects lead to an in-medium enhancement of the heavy-to-light D/πratio at moderately large (5--10 GeV) transverse momenta. For hot QCD matter a large enhancement is expected, whose magnitude and shape are exponentially sensitive to the density of colour charges in the medium.
In this article, we study the ${3\over 2}^+$ heavy and doubly heavy baryon states $Ξ^*_{cc}$, $Ω^*_{cc}$, $Ξ^*_{bb}$, $Ω^*_{bb}$, $Σ_c^*$, $Ξ_c^*$, $Ω_c^*$, $Σ_b^*$, $Ξ_b^*$ and $Ω_b^*$ by subtracting the contributions from the corresponding ${3\over 2}^-$ heavy and doubly heavy baryon states with the QCD sum rules, and make reasonable predictions for their masses.
We study the phase structure of lattice QCD with heavy quarks at finite temperature and density by a histogram method. We determine the location of the critical point at which the first-order deconfining transition in the heavy-quark limit turns into a crossover at intermediate quark masses through a change of the shape of the histogram under variation of coupling parameters. We estimate the effect of the complex phase factor which causes the sign problem at finite density, and show that, in heavy-quark QCD, the effect is small around the critical point. We determine the critical surface in 2+…
The radiative decays of heavy baryons and lowest three doublets of heavy mesons are studied with the light cone QCD sum rules in the leading order of heavy quark effective theory.
Using the analytic properties of two-point functions in QCD, as well as unitarity, bounds on the B meson form factor F(q^2) can be derived. Heavy quark spin symmetry, correctly taken into account, is shown to improve these bounds significantly.
We discuss a minimal holographic model for the description of heavy-light and light mesons with chiral symmetry, defined in a slab of AdS space. The model consists of a pair of chiral Yang-Mills and tachyon fields with specific boundary conditions that break spontaneously chiral symmetry in the infrared. The heavy-light spectrum and decay constants are evaluated explicitly. In the heavy mass limit the model exhibits both heavy-quark and chiral symmetry and allows for the explicit derivation of the one-pion axial couplings to the heavy-light mesons.
This review of the Quantum Chromodynamics (QCD),the early universe Cosmoloical Phase Transition from the Quark-Gluon Plasma (QGP) to our present universe (QCDPT), Relativistic Heavy Ion Collisions (RHIC) which can produce the QGP, the possible detection of the QGP produced by the production of mixed hybrid heavy quark mesons. We also review recent studies of the production of mixed heavy quark hybrids via RHIC and heavy quark meson supression in p-Pb and Pb-Pb collisions.
We present an analytical calculation of the $α_s$ corrections for the coefficient of $ρ_D/m_Q^3$ term in the heavy quark expansion for the inclusive semileptonic decays of heavy hadrons, such as $B \to X_c \ell \barν$. The full dependence of the coefficient on the final-state quark mass is taken into account. Our result leads to further improvement of the theoretical predictions for the precision determination of CKM matrix element $|V_{cb}|$.
We review the developments of QCD multipole expansion and its applications to hadronic transitions and some radiative decays of heavy quarkonia. Theoretical predictions are compsred with updated experimental results.
We construct the heavy baryonic currents by using the Bethe-Salpeter wave functions in the heavy quark limit. We discuss the one-loop renormalization of these heavy baryonic currents as well as their two-point correlators up to the order $1/M_h$. For a special case, we do the QCD sum rule for masses of the doublet (3/2,5/2).
We review recent calculations of second order corrections to heavy quark decays. Techniques developed in this context are applicable to many processes involving heavy charged particles, for example the nonabelian dipole radiation. Calculations involving relativistic radiating particles are also discussed.
We give an overview over recent calculations of baryonic correlator functions with finite mass quarks in view on their applicability for QCD sum rules. The QCD sum rule method is then demonstrated within the Heavy Quark Effective Theory.
Non-relativistic bound state theories for QED and QCD have become fairly mature and amenable to a textbook-level understanding and computation. In this talk we give an introductory review of the following subjects related to the recent computation of the heavy quarkonium spectrum using perturbative QCD: (1) Technological developments in higher-order computation, (2) Physics predictions, (3) Challenge towards analytic evaluation of the 3-loop static QCD potential.
We present the two-loop virtual QCD corrections to the production of heavy quarks in gluon fusion. The results are exact in the limit when all kinematical invariants are large compared to the mass of the heavy quark up to terms suppressed by powers of the heavy-quark mass. Our derivation uses a simple relation between massless and massive QCD scattering amplitudes as well as a direct calculation of the massive amplitude at two loops. The results presented here together with those obtained previously for quark-quark scattering form important parts of the next-to-next-to-leading order QCD correc…
We review recent developments in QCD pertaining to its application to weak decays of heavy hadrons. We concentrate on exclusive rare and nonleptonic B-meson decays, discussing both the theoretical framework and phenomenological issues of current interest.
In this article, we restudy the mass spectrum of the ground state triply-heavy baryon states with the QCD sum rules by carrying out the operator product expansion up to the vacuum condensates of dimension 6 in a consistent way and preforming a novel analysis. It is the first time to take into account the three-gluon condensates in the QCD sum rules for the triply-heavy baryon states.
Fully analytical results for the first two moments of the heavy-quark vacuum polarisation function at four loops in quantum chromo-dynamics are presented.
In this article, we study the ${1\over 2}^+$ doubly heavy baryon states $Ω_{QQ}$ and $Ξ_{QQ}$ by subtracting the contributions from the corresponding ${1\over 2}^-$ doubly heavy baryon states with the QCD sum rules, and make reasonable predictions for their masses. Those doubly heavy baryon states maybe observed at the Tevatron, the LHCb and the PANDA.
Based on the recently developed light-front similarity renormalization group approach and the light-front heavy quark effective theory, we derive analytically from first-principles QCD a heavy quark light-front Hamiltonian which contains explicitly a confinement interaction at long distances and a Coulomb-type interaction at short distances. With this light-front QCD Hamiltonian, we further demonstrate that the nonperturbative QCD dynamics of the strongly interacting heavy hadron bound states can be treated as a weak-coupling problem.
In this talk, I briefly review several models of the heavy quarkonium production at collider energies, and discuss the status of QCD factorization for these production models.
QCD nonrelativistic effective field theories (NREFT) are the modern and most suitable frame to describe heavy quarkonium properties. Here I summarize few relevant concepts and some of the interesting physical applications (spectrum, decays, production) of NREFT.
We set up sum rules for heavy lambda decays in a full QCD calculation which in the heavy quark mass limit incorporates the symmetries of heavy quark effective theory. For the semileptonic $\La_c$ decay we obtain a reasonable agreement with experiment. For the $\La_b$ semileptonic decay we find at the zero recoil point a violation of the heavy quark symmetry of about 20%.
Charm production in pp collisions is considered in the framework of perturbative QCD. The values of two parameters, the charm quark mass $m_c$ and the QCD scale mu^2, are determined from the comparison of the theoretical calculations with experimental data. The RHIC data on charm and beauty production are compared with the k_T-factorization approach predictions and with standard NLO QCD. The calculated results underestimate the STAR Collaboration data. The role of possible nuclear effects is discussed. The predictions for LHC energies are also given.
In this article, we study the ${1\over 2}^{\pm}$ and ${3\over 2}^{\pm}$ triply heavy baryon states in an systematic way by subtracting the contributions from the corresponding ${1\over 2}^{\mp}$ and ${3\over 2}^{\mp}$ triply heavy baryon states with the QCD sum rules, and make reasonable predictions for their masses.
The QCD vacuum is populated by instantons that correspond to the tunneling processes in the vacuum. This mechanism creates the strong vacuum gluon fields. As result, the QCD vacuum instantons induce very strong interactions between light quarks, initially almost massless. Such a strong interactions bring a large dynamical mass M of the light quarks and bound them to produce almost massless pions in accordance with the spontaneous breaking of the chiral symmetry (SBCS). On the other hand, the QCD vacuum instantons also interact with heavy quarks and responsible for the generation of the heavy-h…
In this article, we construct the axialvector-diquark-scalar-antidiquark type currents to interpolate the axialvector doubly heavy tetraquark states, and study them with the QCD sum rules in details by carrying out the operator product expansion up to the vacuum condensates of dimension 10.
In this article, we study the ${(1/2)^-}$ and ${(3/2)^-}$ heavy and doubly heavy baryon states $Σ_Q({(1/2)^-})$, $Ξ'_Q({(1/2)^-})$, $Ω_Q({(1/2)^-})$, $Ξ_{QQ}({(1/2)^-})$, $Ω_{QQ}({(1/2)^-})$, $Σ_Q^*({(3/2)^-})$, $Ξ_Q^*({(3/2)^-})$, $Ω_Q^*({(3/2)^-})$, $Ξ^*_{QQ}({(3/2)^-})$ and $Ω^*_{QQ}({(3/2)^-})$ by subtracting the contributions from the corresponding ${1\over 2}^+$ and ${3\over 2}^+$ heavy and doubly heavy baryon states with the QCD sum rules in a systematic way, and make reasonable predictions for their masses.
The mass spectra of doubly heavy baryons are systematically calculated in the framework of QCD sum rules. With a tentative heavy-diquark--light-quark configuration, the interpolating currents representing the doubly heavy baryons are proposed. Contributions of the operators up to dimension six are included in operator product expansion. The numerical results are compatible with other theoretical predictions, which may support the $(QQ)-(q)$ structure of doubly heavy baryons.
