We analyze and partially solve system of recurrences that can be derived from the properties of martingale orthogonal polynomials that characterize quadratic harnesses (QH). A few remarks on Euler and Bernoulli polynomials and their connections with binomial coefficients and modified Pascal matrices

We prove certain identities involving Euler and Bernoulli polynomials that can be treated as recurrences. We use these and also other known identities to indicate connection of Euler and Bernoulli numbers with entries of inverses of certain lower triangular built of binomial coefficients. Another words we interpret Euler and Bernoulli numbers in terms of modified Pascal matrices.

Random Sampling of Sparse Trigonometric Polynomials

We study the problem of reconstructing a multivariate trigonometric polynomial having only few non-zero coefficients from few random samples. Inspired by recent work of Candes, Romberg and Tao we propose to recover the polynomial by Basis Pursuit, i.e., by $\ell^1$-minimization. Numerical experiments show that in many cases the trigonometric polynomial can be recovered exactly provided the number $N$ of samples is high enough compared to the ``sparsity'' -- the number of non-vanishing coefficients. A few remarks on linear forms involving Catalan's constant

In the joint work of T.Rivoal and the author, a hypergeometric construction was proposed for studing arithmetic properties of the values of Dirichlet's beta function $β(s)$ at even positive integers. The construction gives some bonuses for Catalan's constant $G=β(2)$, such as a second-order Apery-like recursion and a permutation group in the sense of G.Rhin and C.Viola.
