Since its emergence in the 1990s the World Wide Web (WWW) has rapidly evolved into a huge mine of global information and it is growing in size everyday. The presence of huge amount of resources on the Web thus poses a serious problem of accurate search. This is mainly because today's Web is a human-readable Web where information cannot be easily processed by machine. Highly sophisticated, efficient keyword based search engines that have evolved today have not been able to bridge this gap. So comes up the concept of the Semantic Web which is envisioned by Tim Berners-Lee as the Web of machine interpretable information to make a machine processable form for expressing information. Based on the semantic Web technologies we present in this paper the design methodology and development of a semantic Web search engine which provides exact search results for a domain specific search. This search engine is developed for an agricultural Website which hosts agricultural information about the state of West Bengal.
This paper presents the principles of ontology-supported and ontology-driven conceptual navigation. Conceptual navigation realizes the independence between resources and links to facilitate interoperability and reusability. An engine builds dynamic links, assembles resources under an argumentative scheme and allows optimization with a possible constraint, such as the user's available time. Among several strategies, two are discussed in detail with examples of applications. On the one hand, conceptual specifications for linking and assembling are embedded in the resource meta-description with t…
Deep Web is content hidden behind HTML forms. Since it represents a large portion of the structured, unstructured and dynamic data on the Web, accessing Deep-Web content has been a long challenge for the database community. This paper describes a crawler for accessing Deep-Web using Ontologies. Performance evaluation of the proposed work showed that this new approach has promising results.
In this world, globalization has become a basic and most popular human trend. To globalize information, people are going to publish the documents in the internet. As a result, information volume of internet has become huge. To handle that huge volume of information, Web searcher uses search engines. The Webpage indexing mechanism of a search engine plays a big role to retrieve Web search results in a faster way from the huge volume of Web resources. Web researchers have introduced various types of Web-page indexing mechanism to retrieve Webpages from Webpage repository. In this paper, we have …
Semantic web is the next generation web, which concerns the meaning of web documents It has the immense power to pull out the most relevant information from the web pages, which is also meaningful to any user, using software agents. In today's world, agent communication is not possible if concerned ontology is changed a little. We have pointed out this very problem and developed an Ontology Purification System to help agent communication. In our system you can send queries and view the search results. If it can't meet the criteria then it finds out the mismatched elements. Modification is done…
This paper describes the realization of the Ontology Web Search Engine. The Ontology Web Search Engine is realizable as independent project and as a part of other projects. The main purpose of this paper is to present the Ontology Web Search Engine realization details as the part of the Semantic Web Expert System and to present the results of the Ontology Web Search Engine functioning. It is expected that the Semantic Web Expert System will be able to process ontologies from the Web, generate rules from these ontologies and develop its knowledge base.
As todays world grows with the technology on the other hand it seems to be small with the World Wide Web. With the use of Internet more and more information can be search from the web. When Users fires a query they want relevancy in obtained results. In general, search engines perform the ranking of web pages in an offline mode, which is after the web pages have been retrieved and stored in the database. But most of the time this method does not provide relevant results as most of the search engines were using some ranking algorithms like page Rank, HITS, SALSA and Hilltop. Where these algorit…
Semantic Web is, without a doubt, gaining momentum in both industry and academia. The word "Semantic" refers to "meaning" - a semantic web is a web of meaning. In this fast changing and result oriented practical world, gone are the days where an individual had to struggle for finding information on the Internet where knowledge management was the major issue. The semantic web has a vision of linking, integrating and analysing data from various data sources and forming a new information stream, hence a web of databases connected with each other and machines interacting with other machines to yie…
Enormous explosion in the number of the World Wide Web pages occur every day and since the efficiency of most of the information processing systems is found to be less, the potential of the Internet applications is often underutilized. Efficient utilization of the web can be exploited when similar web pages are rigorously, exhaustively organized and clustered based on some domain knowledge (semantic-based) .Ontology which is a formal representation of domain knowledge aids in such efficient utilization. The performance of almost all the semantic-based clustering techniques depends on the const…
Retrieve information resources made by the machine processing may refer to multiple sources. A personal web as part of information resources in the Internet requires a feature that can be understood by computer machines. Therefore, in this paper an ontology semantic web approach is used to map the resources in a meaningful scheme. In the design of concept, resources on the web are viewed as documents that have some property and ownership. Domain interest or web scope is used to describe a classification of resources that navigate into relevant documents. If instances are completed to the conce…
The project of the Ontology Web Search Engine is presented in this paper. The main purpose of this paper is to develop such a project that can be easily implemented. Ontology Web Search Engine is software to look for and index ontologies in the Web. OWL (Web Ontology Languages) ontologies are meant, and they are necessary for the functioning of the SWES (Semantic Web Expert System). SWES is an expert system that will use found ontologies from the Web, generating rules from them, and will supplement its knowledge base with these generated rules. It is expected that the SWES will serve as a univ…
The Semantic Web works on the existing Web which presents the meaning of information as well-defined vocabularies understood by the people. Semantic Search, at the same time, works on improving the accuracy if a search by understanding the intent of the search and providing contextually relevant results. This paper describes a semantic approach toward web search through a PHP application. The goal was to parse through a user's browsing history and return semantically relevant web pages for the search query provided.
This work falls in the areas of information retrieval and semantic web, and aims to improve the evaluation of web search tools. Indeed, the huge number of information on the web as well as the growth of new inexperienced users creates new challenges for information retrieval; certainly the current search engines (such as Google, Bing and Yahoo) offer an efficient way to browse the web content. However, this type of tool does not take into account the semantic driven by the query terms and document words. This paper proposes a new semantic based approach for the evaluation of information retrie…
Administration of a Web directory and maintenance of its content and the associated structure is a delicate and labor intensive task performed exclusively by human domain experts. Subsequently there is an imminent risk of a directory structures becoming unbalanced, uneven and difficult to use to all except for a few users proficient with the particular Web directory and its domain. These problems emphasize the need to establish two important issues: i) generic and objective measures of Web directories structure quality, and ii) mechanism for fully automated development of a Web directory's str…
This work presents the architecture used in the ongoing OntologyNavigator project. It is a research tool to help advanced learners to find adapted IT papers to create scientific bibliographies. The purpose is the use of an IT representation as educational research software for researchers. We use an ontology based on the ACM's Computing Classification System in order to find scientific papers directly related to the new researcher's domain without any formal request. An ontology translation in French is automatically proposed and can be based on Web 2.0 enhanced by a community of users. A visu…
Currently, most people use PubMed to search the MEDLINE database, an important bibliographical information source for life science and biomedical information. However, PubMed has some drawbacks that make it difficult to find relevant publications pertaining to users' individual intentions, especially for non-expert users. To ameliorate the disadvantages of PubMed, we developed G-Bean, a graph based biomedical search engine, to search biomedical articles in MEDLINE database more efficiently.G-Bean addresses PubMed's limitations with three innovations: parallel document index creation,ontology-g…
Many ontologies have been developed in biology and these ontologies increasingly contain large volumes of formalized knowledge commonly expressed in the Web Ontology Language (OWL). Computational access to the knowledge contained within these ontologies relies on the use of automated reasoning. We have developed the Aber-OWL infrastructure that provides reasoning services for bio-ontologies. Aber-OWL consists of an ontology repository, a set of web services and web interfaces that enable ontology-based semantic access to biological data and literature. Aber-OWL is freely available at http://ab…
Today's conventional search engines hardly do provide the essential content relevant to the user's search query. This is because the context and semantics of the request made by the user is not analyzed to the full extent. So here the need for a semantic web search arises. SWS is upcoming in the area of web search which combines Natural Language Processing and Artificial Intelligence. The objective of the work done here is to design, develop and implement a semantic search engine- SIEU(Semantic Information Extraction in University Domain) confined to the university domain. SIEU uses ontology a…

This paper discusses the use of Wikipedia for building semantic ontologies to do Query Expansion (QE) in order to improve the search results of search engines. In this technique, selecting related Wikipedia concepts becomes important. We propose the use of network properties (degree, closeness, and pageRank) to build an ontology graph of user query concepts which is derived directly from Wikipedia structures. The resulting expansion system is called Wiki-MetaSemantik. We tested this system against other online thesauruses and ontology based QE in both individual and meta-search engines setups.…

Ontologies provide features like a common vocabulary, reusability, machine-readable content, and also allows for semantic search, facilitate agent interaction and ordering & structuring of knowledge for the Semantic Web (Web 3.0) application. However, the challenge in ontology engineering is automatic learning, i.e., the there is still a lack of fully automatic approach from a text corpus or dataset of various topics to form ontology using machine learning techniques. In this paper, two topic modeling algorithms are explored, namely LSI & SVD and Mr.LDA for learning topic ontology. The objecti…
This article deals with the semantic Web and ontologies. It addresses the issue of the classification of multilingual Web documents, based on domain ontology. The objective is being able, using a model, to classify documents in different languages. We will try to solve this problematic using two different approaches. The two approaches will have two elementary stages: the creation of the model using machine learning algorithms on a labeled corpus, then the classification of documents after detecting their languages and mapping their terms into the concepts of the language of reference (English…

The Semantic Web is becoming a large scale framework that enables data to be published, shared, and reused in the form of ontologies. The ontology which is considered as basic building block of semantic web consists of two layers including data and schema layer. With the current exponential development of ontologies in both data size and complexity of schemas, ontology understanding which is playing an important role in different tasks such as ontology engineering, ontology learning, etc., is becoming more difficult. Ontology summarization as a way to distill knowledge from an ontology and gen…

Since Organizations have recognized that knowledge constitutes a valuable intangible asset for creating and sustaining competitive advantages, knowledge sharing has a vital role in present society. It is an activity through which information is exchanged among people through different media. Many problems face the area of knowledge sharing and knowledge reuse. Currently, knowledge sharing between entities is achieved in a very ad-hoc fashion, lacking proper understanding of the meaning of the data. Ontologies can potentially solve these problems by facilitating knowledge sharing and reuse thro…
Interoperability is a feature required by the Semantic Web. It is provided by the ontology matching methods and algorithms. But now ontologies are presented not only in English, but in other languages as well. It is important to use an automatic translation for obtaining correct matching pairs in multilingual ontology matching. The translation into many languages could be based on the Google Translate API, the Wiktionary database, etc. From the point of view of the balance of presence of many languages, of manually crafted translations, of a huge size of a dictionary, the most promising resour…
Employers collect a large number of resumes from job portals, or from the company's own website. These documents are used for an automated selection of candidates satisfying the requirements and therefore reducing recruitment costs. Various approaches for process documents have already been developed for recruitment. In this paper we present an approach based on semantic annotation of resumes for e-recruitment process. The most important task consists on modelling the semantic content of these documents using ontology. The ontology is built taking into account the most significant components o…
Data integration and mediation have become central concerns of information technology over the past few decades. With the advent of the Web and the rapid increases in the amount of data and the number of Web documents and users, researchers have focused on enhancing the interoperability of data through the development of metadata schemes. Other researchers have looked to the wealth of metadata generated by bookmarking sites on the Social Web. While several existing ontologies capitalize on the semantics of metadata created by tagging activities, the Upper Tag Ontology (UTO) emphasizes the stru…

Ontologies form the basic interest in various computer science disciplines such as semantic web, information retrieval, database design, etc. They aim at providing a formal, explicit and shared conceptualization and understanding of common domains between different communities. In addition, they allow for concepts and their constraints of a specific domain to be explicitly defined. However, the distributed nature of ontology development and the differences in viewpoints of the ontology engineers have resulted in the so called "semantic heterogeneity" between ontologies. Semantic heterogeneity …
A typical IR system that delivers and stores information is affected by problem of matching between user query and available content on web. Use of Ontology represents the extracted terms in form of network graph consisting of nodes, edges, index terms etc. The above mentioned IR approaches provide relevance thus satisfying users query. The paper also emphasis on analyzing multimedia documents and performs calculation for extracted terms using different statistical formulas. The proposed model developed reduces semantic gap and satisfies user needs efficiently.
The proposed methodology is procedural i.e. it follows finite number of steps that extracts relevant documents according to users query. It is based on principles of Data Mining for analyzing web data. Data Mining first adapts integration of data to generate warehouse. Then, it extracts useful information with the help of algorithm. The task of representing extracted documents is done by using Vector Based Statistical Approach that represents each document in set of Terms.

In this paper, we present a semantic web approach for modelling the process of creating new technical and regulatory documents related to the Building sector. This industry, among other industries, is currently experiencing a phenomenal growth in its technical and regulatory texts. Therefore, it is urgent and crucial to improve the process of creating regulations by automating it as much as possible. We focus on the creation of particular technical documents issued by the French Scientific and Technical Centre for Building (CSTB), called Technical Assessments, and we propose services based on …
With the use of ontologies in several domains such as semantic web, information retrieval, artificial intelligence, the concept of similarity measuring has become a very important domain of research. Therefore, in the current paper, we propose our method of similarity measuring which uses the Dijkstra algorithm to define and compute the shortest path. Then, we use this one to compute the semantic distance between two concepts defined in the same hierarchy of ontology. Afterward, we base on this result to compute the semantic similarity. Finally, we present an experimental comparison between ou…
