We investigate the dynamics of two-component Bose-Einstein condensates (BECs), composed of atoms in two distinct hyperfine states, which are linearly coupled by two-photon Raman transitions. The condensate is loaded into a double-well potential (DWP). A variety of dynamical behaviors, ranging from regular Josephson oscillations, to mixed Rabi-Josephson oscillations and to regimes featuring an increasing complexity, are described in terms of a reduced Hamiltonian system with four degrees of freedoms, which are the numbers of atoms in each component in the left and right potential wells, whose canonically conjugate variables are phases of the corresponding wave functions. Using the system with the four degrees of freedom, we study the dynamics of fractional imbalances of the two bosonic components, and compare the results to direct simulations of the Gross-Pitaevskii equations (GPEs) describing the bosonic mixture. We perform this analysis when the fractional imbalance oscillates around a zero-time averaged value and in the self-trapping regime as well.
We report on the experimental realization of an internal bosonic Josephson junction in a Rubidium spinor Bose-Einstein condensate. The measurement of the full time dynamics in phase space allows the characterization of the theoretically predicted $π$-phase modes and quantitatively confirms analytical predictions, revealing a classical bifurcation. Our results suggest that this system is a model system which can be tuned from classical to the quantum regime and thus is an important step towards the experimental investigation of entanglement generation close to critical points.
The dynamics of coupled condensates is a wide-encompassing problem with relevance to superconductors, BECs in traps, superfluids, etc. Here, we provide a unified picture of this fundamental problem that includes i) detuning of the free energies, ii) different self-interaction strengths and iii) finite lifetime of the modes. At such, this is particularly relevant for the dynamics of polaritons, both for their internal dynamics between their light and matter constituents, as well as for the more conventional dynamics of two spatially separated condensates. Polaritons are short-lived, interact on…
We analytically calculate the leading quantum corrections of the ground-state energy of two- and one-dimensional weakly interacting Rabi-coupled Bose-Bose mixtures in the frame of the Bogoliubov approximation. We show that to repulsive intraspecies and attractive interspecies interactions, the effect of quantum fluctuations favors the formation of self-bound droplets. These liquidlike states are crucially affected by the Rabi coupling, leading thus to the appearance of a quantum instability. We derive meaningful formulas to describe the droplet phase in the one-dimensional case.
Mach-Zehnder atom interferometry requires hold-time phase-squeezing to attain readout accuracy below the standard quantum limit. This increases its sensitivity to phase-diffusion, restoring shot-noise scaling of the optimal signal-to-noise ratio, $s_o$, in the presence of interactions. The contradiction between the preparations required for readout accuracy and robustness to interactions, is removed by monitoring Rabi-Josephson oscillations instead of relative-phase oscillations during signal acquisition. Optimizing $s_o$ with a Gaussian squeezed input, we find that hold-time number squeezing …
We investigate the dynamics of bosonic atoms in elongated Josephson junctions. We find that these systems are characterized by an intrinsic coupling between the Josephson mode of macroscopic quantum tunneling and the sound modes. This coupling of Josephson and sound modes gives rise to a damped and stochastic Langevin dynamics for the Josephson degree of freedom. From a microscopic Lagrangian, we deduce and investigate the damping coefficient and the stochastic noise, which includes thermal and quantum fluctuations. Finally, we study the time evolution of relative-phase and population-imbalanc…
The quantum dynamics of one-dimensional bosonic Josephson junctions with attractive and repulsive interparticle interactions is studied using the Bose-Hubbard model and by numerically-exact computations of the full many-body Hamiltonian. A symmetry present in the Bose-Hubbard Hamiltonian dictates an equivalence between the evolution in time of attractive and repulsive Josephson junctions with attractive and repulsive interactions of equal magnitude. The full many-body Hamiltonian does not possess this symmetry and consequently the dynamics of the attractive and repulsive junctions are differen…
A resonantly driven bosonic Josephson junction supports stable collective excitations, or quasiparticles, which constitute analogs of the Trojan wave packets previously explored with Rydberg atoms in strong microwave fields. We predict a quantum beating effect between such symmetryrelated many-body Trojan states taking place on time scales which are long in comparison with the driving period. Within a mean-field approximation, this quantum beating can be regarded as a manifestation of dynamical tunneling. On the full N-particle level, the beating phenomenon leads to an experimentally feasible,…
We propose a new scheme for observing Josephson oscillations and macroscopic quantum self-trapping phenomena in a toroidally confined Bose-Einstein condensate: a dipolar self-induced Josephson junction. Polarizing the atoms perpendicularly to the trap symmetry axis, an effective ring-shaped, double-well potential is achieved which is induced by the dipolar interaction. By numerically solving the three-dimensional time-dependent Gross-Pitaevskii equation we show that coherent tunneling phenomena such as Josephson oscillations and quantum self-trapping can take place. The dynamics in the self-in…
By means of a temporal-periodic modulation of the s-wave scattering length, a procedure to control the evolution of an initial atomic coherent state associated with a Bosonic Josephson junction is presented. The scheme developed has a remarkable advantage of avoiding the quantum collapse of the state due to phase and number diffusion. This kind of control could prove useful for atom interferometry using BECs, where the interactions limit the evolution time stage within the interferometer, and where the modulation can be induced via magnetic Feshbach resonances as recently experimentally demons…
We use the Bose-Hubbard Hamiltonian to study quantum fluctuations in canonical equilibrium ensembles of bosonic Josephson junctions at relatively high temperatures, comparing the results for finite particle numbers to the classical limit that is attained as $N$ approaches infinity. We consider both attractive and repulsive atom-atom interactions, with especial focus on the behavior near the T=0 quantum phase transition that occurs, for large enough $N$, when attractive interactions surpass a critical level. Differences between Bose-Hubbard results for small $N$ and those of the classical limit…
We investigate the low-energy dynamics of two coupled anisotropic Bose-Einstein condensates forming a long Josephson junction. The theoretical study is performed in the framework of the two-dimensional Gross-Pitaevskii equation and the Bogoliubov-de Gennes formalism. We analyze the excitation spectrum of the coupled Bose condensates and show how low-energy excitations of the condensates lead to multiple-frequency oscillations of the atomic populations in the two wells. This analysis generalizes the standard bosnic Josephson euqation approach. We also develop a one-dimensional hydrodynamic mode…
We realize a one-dimensional Josephson junction using quantum degenerate Bose gases in a tunable double well potential on an atom chip. Matter wave interferometry gives direct access to the relative phase field, which reflects the interplay of thermally driven fluctuations and phase locking due to tunneling. The thermal equilibrium state is characterized by probing the full statistical distribution function of the two-point phase correlation. Comparison to a stochastic model allows to measure the coupling strength and temperature and hence a full characterization of the system.
We use fidelity susceptibility to calculate quantum critical scaling exponents for a system consisting of $N$ identical bosons interacting with a single impurity atom in a double well potential (bosonic Josephson junction). Above a critical value of the boson-impurity interaction energy there is a spontaneous breaking of $\mathbb{Z}_2$ symmetry corresponding to a second order quantum phase transition from a balanced to an imbalanced number of particles in either the left or right hand well. We show that the exponents match those in the Lipkin-Meshkov-Glick and Dicke models suggesting that the …
We study the collective dynamics of a driven two mode Bose-Hubbard model in the Josephson interaction regime. The classical phase-space is mixed, with chaotic and regular components, that determine the dynamical nature of the fringe-visibility. For weak off-resonant drive, where the chaotic component is small, the many-body dynamics corresponds to that of a Kapitza pendulum, with the relative-phase $φ$ between the condensates playing the role of the pendulum angle. Using a master equation approach we show that the modulation of the inter-site potential barrier stabilizes the $φ=π$ 'inverted pe…
We show how to optimally control the creation of quantum superpositions in a bosonic Josephson junction within the two-site Bose-Hubbard model framework. Both geometric and purely numerical optimal control approaches are used, the former providing a generalization of the proposal of Micheli et al [Phys. Rev. A 67, 013607 (2003)]. While this method is shown not to lead to significant improvements in terms of time of formation and fidelity of the superposition, a numerical optimal control approach appears more promising, as it allows to create an almost perfect superposition, within a time short…
We study the long time coherence dynamics of a two-mode Bose-Hubbard model in the Josephson interaction regime, as a function of the relative phase and occupation imbalance of an arbitrary coherent preparation. We find that the variance of the long time fluctuations of the one-body coherence can be factorized as a product of the inverse participation number 1/M that depends only on the preparation, and a semi-classical function C(E) that reflects the phase space characteristics of the pertinent observable. Temporal fluctuations can thus be used as a sensitive probe for phase space tomography o…

In the framework of the stochastic projected Gross-Pitaevskii equation we investigate finite-temperature dynamics of a bosonic Josephson junction (BJJ) formed by a Bose-Einstein condensate of atoms in a two-well trapping potential. We extract the characteristic properties of the BJJ from the stationary finite-temperature solutions and compare the dynamics of the system with the resistively shunted Josephson model. Analyzing the decay dynamics of the relative population imbalance we estimate the effective normal conductance of the junction induced by thermal atoms. The calculated normal conduct…
We study rainbow (fold) and cusp catastrophes that form in Fock space following a quench in a Bose Josephson junction. In the Gross-Pitaevskii mean-field theory the rainbows are singular caustics, but in the second-quantized theory a Poisson resummation of the wave function shows that they are described by well behaved Airy functions. The structural stability of these Fock space caustics against variations in the initial conditions and Hamiltonian evolution is guaranteed by catastrophe theory. We also show that the long-time dynamics are ergodic. Our results are relevant to the question posed …
We extend a recent method to shortcut the adiabatic following to internal bosonic Josephson junctions in which the control parameter is the linear coupling between the modes. The approach is based on the mapping between the two-site Bose-Hubbard Hamiltonian and a 1D effective Schrödinger-like equation, valid in the large $N$ (number of particles) limit. Our method can be readily implemented in current internal bosonic Josephson junctions and it improves substantially the production of spin-squeezing with respect to usually employed linear rampings.
We study the effect of decoherence on dynamical phase diffusion in the two-site Bose-Hubbard model. Starting with an odd parity excited coherent state, the initial loss of single particle coherence varies from small bound oscillations in the Rabi regime, through hyperbolic depletion in the Josephson regime, to a Gaussian decay in the Fock regime. The inclusion of local-site noise, measuring the relative number difference between the modes, is shown to enhance phase-diffusion. In comparison, site-indiscriminate noise measuring the population imbalance between the two quasi-momentum modes, slows…
We study atomic Josephson junctions (AJJs) with one and two bosonic species confined by a double-well potential. Proceeding from the second quantized Hamiltonian, we show that it is possible to describe the zero-temperature AJJs microscopic dynamics by means of extended Bose-Hubbard (EBH) models, which include usually-neglected nonlinear terms. Within the mean-field approximation, the Heisenberg equations derived from such two-mode models provide a description of AJJs macroscopic dynamics in terms of ordinary differential equations (ODEs). We discuss the possibility to distinguish the Rabi, Jo…
We study a model describing $N$ identical bosonic atoms trapped in a double-well potential together with a single impurity atom, comparing and contrasting it throughout with the Dicke model. As the boson-impurity coupling strength is varied, there is a symmetry-breaking pitchfork bifurcation which is analogous to the quantum phase transition occurring in the Dicke model. Through stability analysis around the bifurcation point, we show that the critical value of the coupling strength has the same dependence on the parameters as the critical coupling value in the Dicke model. We also show that, …
We investigate a bosonic Josephson junction by using the path-integral formalism with relative phase and population imbalance as dynamical variables. We derive an effective only-phase action performing functional integration over the population imbalance. We then analyze the quantum effective only-phase action, which formally contains all the quantum corrections. To the second order in the derivative expansion and to the lowest order in $\hbar$, we obtain the quantum correction to the Josephson frequency of oscillation. Finally, the same quantum correction is found by adopting an alternative a…
We investigate the coherent dynamics of a non-interacting Bose-Einstein condensate in a system consisting of two bosonic reservoirs coupled via a spatially localized mode. We describe this system by a two-terminal Fano-Anderson model and investigate analytically the time evolution of observables such as the bosonic Josephson current. In doing so, we find that the Josephson current sensitively depends on the on-site energy of the localized mode. This facilitates to use this setup as a transistor for a Bose-Einstein condensate. We identify two regimes. In one regime, the system exhibits well-beh…
We consider the standard double well setup extended with a laser beam in the center to create a "triple well" potential. The beam in the center is much more narrow than the barrier, and it creates a tunable depth well which can support a localized state in the middle. We show that the presence of the localized state in the central well changes the sign of tunneling between the left and right wells and therefore controls the fixed point dynamics of the bosonic Josephson junction.
We calculate the first two moments and full probability distribution of the work performed on a system of bosonic particles in a two-mode Bose-Hubbard Hamiltonian when the self-interaction term is varied instantaneously or with a finite-time ramp. In the instantaneous case, we show how the irreversible work scales differently depending on whether the system is driven to the Josephson or Fock regime of the bosonic Josephson junction. In the finite-time case, we use optimal control techniques to substantially decrease the irreversible work to negligible values. Our analysis can be implemented in…
We investigate a superadiabatic scheme to produce a cat state in a bosonic Josephson junction in absence and presence of particle losses. The generation scheme is based on shortcuts to adiabaticity and strongly relies on the parity conservation. The parity conservation also ensures that the produced state is a superposition of cat states with various sizes, i.e., a "cats state". Parity is also the quantity to be measured in order to utilize the produced state in interferometry. The generation scheme still works even if a number of particle losses during generation are substantial.
We propose a quantum speedup method for adiabatic generation of cat states in bosonic Josephson junctions via shortcuts to adiabaticity. We apply approximated counter-diabatic driving to a bosonic Josephson junction using the Holstein-Primakoff transformation. In order to avoid the problem of divergence in counter-diabatic driving, we take finite-size corrections into account. The resulting counter-diabatic driving is well-defined over whole processes. Schedules of the counter-diabatic driving consist of three steps; the counter-diabatic driving in the disordered phase, smoothly and slowly app…
We perform a detailed field theoretical study of nonequilibrium Josephson oscillations between interacting Bose-Einstein condensates confined in a finite-size double-well trap. We find that the Josephson junction can sustain multiple undamped Josephson oscillations up to a characteristic time scale $τ_c$ without quasipartcles being excited in the system. This may explain recent related experiments. At larger times the dynamics of the junction is governed by fast Rabi oscillations between the descrete quasiparticle levels. We predict that a selftrapped BEC state will be destroyed by these Rabi …
We analyze phase interferometry realized with a bosonic Josephson junction made of trapped dilute and ultracold atoms. By using a suitable phase sensitivity indicator we study the zero temperature junction states useful to achieve sub shot-noise precisions. Sub shot-noise phase shift sensitivities can be reached even at finite temperature under a suitable choice of the junction state. We infer a scaling law in terms of the size system (that is, the number of particles) for the temperature at which the shot-noise limit is not overcome anymore
We analyze the effects of the temperature on a bosonic Josephson junction realized with ultracold and dilute atoms in a double-well potential. Starting from the eigenstates of the two-site Bose-Hubbard Hamiltonian, we calculate the coherence visibility and the fluctuation of the on-site occupation number and study them as functions of the temperature. We show that, contrary to naive expectations, when the boson-boson interaction is suitably chosen thermal effects can increase the coherence visibility and reduce the on-site number fluctuation.
We report on the experimental characterization of a spatially extended Josephson junction realized with a coherently-coupled two-spin-component Bose-Einstein condensate. The cloud is trapped in an elongated potential such that that transverse spin excitations are frozen. We extract the non-linear parameter with three different manipulation protocols. The outcomes are all consistent with a simple local density approximation of the spin hydrodynamics, i.e., of the so-called Bose-Josephson junction equations. We also identify a method to produce states with a well defined uniform magnetization.
We present a detailed analysis of the relaxation dynamics in an extended bosonic Josephson junction. We show that stochastic classical field simulations using Gross-Pitaevskii equations in three spatial dimensions reproduce the main experimental findings of M. Pigneur et al., Phys. Rev. Lett. 120, 173601 (2018). We give an analytic solution describing the short time evolution through multimode dephasing. For longer times, the observed relaxation to a phase locked state is caused by nonlinear dynamics beyond the sine-Gordon model, induced by the longitudinal confinement potential and persisting…
We use an exact quantum phase model to study the dynamical generation of particle-entanglement in a bosonic Josephson junction composed by two coupled and interacting Bose-Einstein condensates. Using analytical arguments, we show that linear coupling can accelerate the creation of entanglement with respect to the well known one-axis twisting model where coupling is absent. Furthermore, with a numerical analysis of optimal control schemes, we identify the optimal parameters for the fast generation of metrologically useful entanglement on short time scales: the optimal evolution is generated for…
We employ a semiclassical picture to study dynamics in a bosonic Josephson junction with various initial conditions. Phase-diffusion of coherent preparations in the Josephson regime is shown to depend on the initial relative phase between the two condensates. For initially incoherent condensates, we find a universal value for the buildup of coherence in the Josephson regime. In addition, we contrast two seemingly similar on-separatrix coherent preparations, finding striking differences in their convergence to classicality as the number of particles increases.
We examine the dynamics of a Bose-Einstein condensate in a symmetric double-well potential for a broad range of non-linear couplings. We demonstrate the existence of a region, beyond those of Josephson oscillations and self-trapping, which involves the dynamical excitation of the third mode of the double-well potential. We develop a simple semiclassical model for the coupling between the second and third modes that describes very satisfactorily the full time-dependent dynamics. Experimental conditions are proposed to probe this phenomenon.
Quantum fluids of light are an emerging platform for energy efficient signal processing, ultra-sensitive interferometry and quantum simulators at elevated temperatures. Here we demonstrate the optical control of the topological excitations induced in a large polariton condensate, realising the bosonic analog of a long Josephson junction and reporting the first observation of bosonic Josephson vortices. When a phase difference is imposed at the boundaries of the condensate, two extended regions become separated by a sharp $π$-slippage of the phase and a solitonic depletion of the density, formi…
We describe methods for fast production of highly coherent-spin-squeezed many-body states in bosonic Josephson junctions (BJJs). We start from the known mapping of the two-site Bose-Hubbard (BH) Hamiltonian to that of a single effective particle evolving according to a Schrödinger-like equation in Fock space. Since, for repulsive interactions, the effective potential in Fock space is nearly parabolic, we extend recently derived protocols for shortcuts to adiabatic evolution in harmonic potentials to the many-body BH Hamiltonian. The best scaling of the squeezing parameter for large number of a…
We consider an ultracold bosonic binary mixture confined in a one-dimensional double-well trap. The two bosonic components are assumed to be two hyperfine internal states of the same atom. We suppose that these two components are spin-orbit coupled between each other. We employ the two-mode approximation starting from two coupled Gross-Pitaevskii equations and derive a system of ordinary differential equations governing the temporal evolution of the inter-well population imbalance of each component and that between the two bosonic species. We study the Josephson oscillations of these spin-orbi…
We investigate an attractive atomic Bose-Einstein condensate (BEC) trapped by a double-well potential in the axial direction and by a harmonic potential in the transverse directions. We obtain numerically, for the first time, a quantum phase diagram which includes all the three relevant phases of the system: Josephson, spontaneous symmetry breaking (SSB), and collapse. We consider also the coherent dynamics of the BEC and calculate the frequency of population-imbalance mode in the Josephson phase and in the SSB phase up to the collapse. We show that these phases can be observed by using ultrac…

The quantum dynamics of a one-dimensional bosonic Josephson junction is studied by solving the time-dependent many-boson Schrödinger equation numerically exactly. Already for weak interparticle interactions and on short time scales, the commonly-employed mean-field and many-body methods are found to deviate substantially from the exact dynamics. The system exhibits rich many-body dynamics like enhanced tunneling and a novel equilibration phenomenon of the junction depending on the interaction, attributed to a quick loss of coherence.
Motivated by experiments in bosonic mixtures composed of a single element in two different hyperfine states, we study bosonic binary mixtures in the presence of Josephson interactions between species. We focus on a particular model with $O(2)$ isospin symmetry, lifted by an imbalanced population parametrized by a Rabi frequency, $Ω_{R}$, and a detuning, $ν$, which couples the phases of both species. We have studied the model at mean-field approximation plus Gaussian fluctuations. We have found that both species simultaneously condensate below a critical temperature $T_{c}$ and the relative pha…
The out-of-equilibrium quantum dynamics of a Bose gas trapped in an asymmetric double well and interacting with a finite-range interaction has been studied in real space by solving the time-dependent many-body Schrödinger equation numerically accurately using the multiconfigurational time-dependent Hartree method for bosons (MCTDHB). We have focused on the weakly interacting limit where the system is essentially condensed. We have examined the impact of the range of the interaction on the dynamics of the system, both at the mean-field and many-body levels. Explicitly, we have studied the maxim…
We study an atomic Josephson junction (AJJ) in presence of two interacting Bose-Einstein condensates (BECs) confined in a double well trap. We assume that bosons of different species interact with each other. The macroscopic wave functions of the two components obey to a system of two 3D coupled Gross-Pitaevskii equations (GPE). We write the Lagrangian of the system, and from this we derive a system of coupled ordinary differential equations (ODE), for which the coupled pendula represent the mechanic analogous. These differential equations control the dynamical behavior of the fractional imbal…
We study suppression of nonadiabatic transitions during adiabatic generation of a cat-like state (a superposition of different size cat states) and a spin squeezed state in a bosonic Josephson junction. In order to minimize the adiabatic error, we use quantum adiabatic brachistochrone, which enables us to track a geometrically efficient path in parameter space under given conditions without requiring additional terms. For creation of a cat-like state, divergence of the quantum geometric tensor associated with gap closing at the critical point is avoided because of the parity conservation. The …
We analyze the emergence of Shapiro resonances in tunnel-coupled Bose-Einstein condensates, realizing a bosonic Josephson junction. Our analysis is based on an experimentally relevant implementation using magnetic double well potentials on an atomchip. In this configuration the potential bias (implementing the junction voltage) and the potential barrier (realizing the Josephson link) are intrinsically coupled. We show that the dynamically driven system exhibits significantly enhanced Shapiro resonances which will facilitate experimental observation. To describe the systems response to the dyna…
The entropy of the coexisting gas of ultra cold fermionic atoms and Bosonic molecular condensate confined in a magnetic trap has been calculated from equation of motion approaches. We have found that the entropy production depends not only to the Feshbach resonance and but also under certain limits to Rabi type oscillation and Bose Josephson junction type oscillation.
The out-of-equilibrium quantum dynamics of a bosonic Josephson junction (BJJ) with long-range interaction is studied in real space by solving the time-dependent many-body Schrödinger equation numerically accurately using the multiconfigurational time-dependent Hartree method for bosons. Having the many-boson wave-function at hand we can examine the impact of the range of the interaction on the properties of the BJJ dynamics, viz. density oscillations and their collapse, self trapping, depletion and fragmentation, as well as the position variance, both at the mean-field and many-body level. Exp…
We investigate the dynamics of a spinor Bose-Einstein condensate which is governed by an optically induced non-Abelian gauge potential. Using a ring shaped trap to confine the atoms and a hydrodynamic ansatz, nonlinear Josephson type equations are found to describe the system. The degenerate eigenstates which show rotation are solved exactly. We consider a homogenous filled ring and observe population dynamics between the two quasi-spin components but also space dependent Josephson oscillations. Stable mass currents can be observed which are induced by the constant non-Abelian effective magnet…
We study Floquet engineering of the tunnel coupling between a pair of one-dimensional bosonic quasi-condensates in a tilted double-well potential. By modulating the energy difference between the two wells, we re-establish tunnel coupling and precisely control its amplitude and phase. This allows us to initiate coherence between two initially uncorrelated Bose gases and prepare different initial states in the emerging sine-Gordon Hamiltonian. We fully characterize the Floquet system and study the dependence of both equilibrium properties and relaxation on the modulation.
We study the dynamics of ultracold Bosons in a double-well potential within the two-mode Bose-Hubbard model by means of semiclassical methods. By applying a WKB quantization we find analytical results for the energy spectrum, which are in excellent agreement with numerical exact results. They are valid in the energy range of plasma oscillations, both in the Rabi and the Josephson regime. Adopting the reflection principle and the Poisson summation formula we derive an analytical expression for the dynamics of the population imbalance depending on the few relevant parameters of the system only. …
We study the interplay between the dynamics of a Bose-Einstein condensate in a double-well potential and that of an optical cavity mode. The cavity field is superimposed to the double-well potential and affects the atomic tunneling processes. The cavity field is driven by a laser red detuned from the bare cavity resonance; the dynamically changing spatial distribution of the atoms can shift the cavity in and out of resonance. At resonance the photon number is hugely enhanced and the atomic tunneling becomes amplified. The Josephson junction equations are revisited and the phase diagram is calc…
We consider a model describing Bose-Josephson junction (BJJ) coupled to a single bosonic mode exhibiting quantum phase transition (QPT). Onset of chaos above QPT is observed from semiclassical dynamics as well from spectral statistics. Based on entanglement entropy we analyze the ergodic behavior of eigenstates with increasing energy density which also reveals the influence of dynamical steady state known as $π$-mode on it. We identify the imprint of unstable $π$-oscillation as many body quantum scar (MBQS), which leads to the deviation from ergodicity and quantify the degree of scarring. Pers…
The many-body Schrödinger dynamics of a one-dimensional bosonic Josephson junction is investigated for up to ten thousand bosons and long times. The initial states are fully condensed and the interaction strength is weak. We report on a universal fragmentation dynamics on the many-body level: systems consisting of different numbers of particles fragment to the same value at constant mean-field interaction strength. The phenomenon manifests itself in observables such as the correlation functions of the system. We explain this universal fragmentation dynamics analytically based on the Bose-Hubba…
