The present research scholars are having keen interest in doing their research activities in the area of Data mining all over the world. Especially, [13]Mining Image data is the one of the essential features in this present scenario since image data plays vital role in every aspect of the system such as business for marketing, hospital for surgery, engineering for construction, Web for publication and so on. The other area in the Image mining system is the Content-Based Image Retrieval (CBIR) which performs retrieval based on the similarity defined in terms of extracted features with more objectiveness. The drawback in CBIR is the features of the query image alone are considered. Hence, a new technique called Image retrieval based on optimum clusters is proposed for improving user interaction with image retrieval systems by fully exploiting the similarity information. The index is created by describing the images according to their color characteristics, with compact feature vectors, that represent typical color distributions [12].

This paper tackles the Zero-Shot Sketch-Based Image Retrieval (ZS-SBIR) problem from the viewpoint of cross-modality metric learning. This task has two characteristics: 1) the zero-shot setting requires a metric space with good within-class compactness and the between-class discrepancy for recognizing the novel classes and 2) the sketch query and the photo gallery are in different modalities. The metric learning viewpoint benefits ZS-SBIR from two aspects. First, it facilitates improvement through recent good practices in deep metric learning (DML). By combining two fundamental learning approa…
This paper is a technical report to our submission to the ICCV 2021 VIPriors Re-identification Challenge. In order to make full use of the visual inductive priors of the data, we treat the query and gallery images of the same identity as continuous frames in a video sequence. And we propose one novel post-processing strategy for video temporal relationship mining, which not only calculates the distance matrix between query and gallery images, but also the matrix between gallery images. The initial query image is used to retrieve the most similar image from the gallery, then the retrieved image…

In this paper, we address the problem of image retrieval by learning images representation based on the activations of a Convolutional Neural Network. We present an end-to-end trainable network architecture that exploits a novel multi-scale local pooling based on NetVLAD and a triplet mining procedure based on samples difficulty to obtain an effective image representation. Extensive experiments show that our approach is able to reach state-of-the-art results on three standard datasets.

In this work we present a novel unsupervised framework for hard training example mining. The only input to the method is a collection of images relevant to the target application and a meaningful initial representation, provided e.g. by pre-trained CNN. Positive examples are distant points on a single manifold, while negative examples are nearby points on different manifolds. Both types of examples are revealed by disagreements between Euclidean and manifold similarities. The discovered examples can be used in training with any discriminative loss. The method is applied to unsupervised fine-tu…
Deep metric learning seeks to define an embedding where semantically similar images are embedded to nearby locations, and semantically dissimilar images are embedded to distant locations. Substantial work has focused on loss functions and strategies to learn these embeddings by pushing images from the same class as close together in the embedding space as possible. In this paper, we propose an alternative, loosened embedding strategy that requires the embedding function only map each training image to the most similar examples from the same class, an approach we call "Easy Positive" mining. We…

Due to the amount of videos and related captions uploaded every hour, deep learning-based solutions for cross-modal video retrieval are attracting more and more attention. A typical approach consists in learning a joint text-video embedding space, where the similarity of a video and its associated caption is maximized, whereas a lower similarity is enforced with all the other captions, called negatives. This approach assumes that only the video and caption pairs in the dataset are valid, but different captions - positives - may also describe its visual contents, hence some of them may be wrong…

Most image-text retrieval work adopts binary labels indicating whether a pair of image and text matches or not. Such a binary indicator covers only a limited subset of image-text semantic relations, which is insufficient to represent relevance degrees between images and texts described by continuous labels such as image captions. The visual-semantic embedding space obtained by learning binary labels is incoherent and cannot fully characterize the relevance degrees. In addition to the use of binary labels, this paper further incorporates continuous pseudo labels (generally approximated by text …
This paper addresses the problem of media retrieval using a multimodal query (a query which combines visual input with additional semantic information in natural language feedback). We propose a SynthTriplet GAN framework which resolves this task by expanding the multimodal query with a synthetically generated image that captures semantic information from both image and text input. We introduce a novel triplet mining method that uses a synthetic image as an anchor to directly optimize for embedding distances of generated and target images. We demonstrate that apart from the added value of retr…
