A microscopic calculation of the optical potential for nucleon-nucleus scattering has been performed by explicitly coupling the elastic channel to all the particle-hole (p-h) excitation states in the target and to all relevant pickup channels. These p-h states may be regarded as doorway states through which the flux flows to more complicated configurations, and to long-lived compound nucleus resonances. We calculated the reaction cross sections for the nucleon induced reactions on the targets $^{40,48}$Ca, $^{58}$Ni, $^{90}$Zr and $^{144}$Sm using the QRPA description of target excitations, coupling to all inelastic open channels, and coupling to all transfer channels corresponding to the formation of a deuteron. The results of such calculations were compared to predictions of a well-established optical potential and with experimental data, reaching very good agreement. The inclusion of couplings to pickup channels were an important contribution to the absorption. For the first time, calculations of excitations account for all of the observed reaction cross-sections, at least for incident energies above 10 MeV.
Within the framework of the improved quantum molecular dynamics model, the medium modifications on the free nucleon-nucleon elastic cross sections are investigated. By using various in-medium nucleon-nucleon elastic cross sections in the model, the nucleon-induced reactions on various targets are simulated, and the excitation functions of reaction cross sections in the energy range from 25 MeV to 1 GeV are calculated. By comparing the calculations with the experimental data, an isospin, density, and momentum-dependence medium correction factor on free nucleon-nucleon elastic cross sections is …
We show that using parameters consistent with the charge symmetry violating difference between the strong nn and pp scattering lengths provides significant constraints on the amplitude for the dd -> alpha pi0 reaction.
The attempts to investigate correlations in electromagnetically induced one- and two-nucleon knockout are reviewed. The theoretical framework for cross section calculations is outlined and some results are presented for the exclusive $^{16}$O($e,e'p)^{15}$N and $^{16}$O($e,e'pp)^{14}$C reactions. For the ($e,e'p$) reaction attention is focussed on extracting the spectroscopic factors. For the ($e,e'pp$) reaction the possibility of obtaining direct and clear information on short-range correlations is discussed.
Understanding of inclusive one-nucleon knockout reactions for long-lived fission fragments (LLFPs) is crucial for nuclear transmutation studies. However, the particle and heavy ion transport code system (PHITS) severely overshoots the inclusive one-nucleon knockout cross sections sigma_-1N. Therefore development of a reaction model for describing the inclusive one-nucleon knockout processes is necessary. A key is specification of the position and the momentum of a nucleon inside a nucleus to be struck by the incident nucleon. In this paper the semiclassical distorted wave model incorporating t…
The role played by nucleon-nucleon short-range correlations in photon- and electron-nucleus reactions is analyzed with a model which includes all the diagrams containing a single correlation function. The excitation of low-lying high-spin states, the reactions (e,e'), (e,e'N) and ($γ$,N) and the two-proton emission by both electrons and real photons are investigated. The results obtained for doubly-closed shell nuclei show that ($γ$,pp) appears to be the most adequate process to identify short-range correlations in the clearer way.
The spectroscopic strengths of two-nucleon transfer reactions constitute a stringent test for two-nucleon correlations in the nuclear wave functions. A comparison between the recently measured 198Hg(d,alpha)196Au reaction and the predictions from the nuclear quartet supersymmetry lends further support to the validity of supersymmetry in nuclear physics.
Nucleon total reaction and neutron total cross sections to 300 MeV for 12C and 208Pb, and for 65 MeV spanning the mass range, are predicted using coordinate space optical potentials formed by full folding of effective nucleon-nucleon interactions with realistic nuclear ground state densities. Good to excellent agreement is found with existing data.
The contributions of short-range nucleon-nucleon (NN) correlations, various meson exchange current (MEC) terms and the influence of $Δ$ isobar excitations (isobaric currents, IC) on exclusive two-nucleon knockout reactions induced by electron scattering are investigated. The nuclear structure functions are evaluated for nuclear matter. Realistic NN interactions derived in the framework of One-Boson-Exchange model are employed to evaluate the effects of correlations and MEC in a consistent way. The correlations correlations are determined by solving the Bethe-Goldstone equation. This yields sig…
The $π$, $η$ and $ρ$ exchange contributions to the cross-section for the reaction $pp\to ppη$ near threshold are calculated with a phenomenological description of the intermediate S11 (N(1535)) resonance for all exchange mechanisms. The final state interaction in the $pp$ system is described by realistic nucleon-nucleon interaction models. The sensitivity of the results to the phenomenological models for the $η$-nucleon transition amplitude and the nucleon-nucleon interaction is explored. The $η$ exchange mechanism is found to play a dominant role. The off-shell behavior of the $ηN \to ηN$ amp…
We review recent progress in our understanding of elastic and inelastic pion reactions on two nucleon systems from the point of view of effective field theory. The discussion includes pion-deuteron scattering, gamma d to pi-nn, and NN to NNpi. At the end some remarks are made on strangeness production reactions.
The pi+ d scattering and the d(p,n) charge exchange reaction are used to study the Delta-Nucleon interaction in the Delta resonance energy region. Various observables, such as inclusive and exclusive cross sections, angular distributions, and analyzing powers, are calculated in a coupled channel approach and shown to be influenced by the Delta-Nucleon potential.
Following a recent work, we present numerical results for total two-nucleon effective cross sections in isospin symmetric and asymmetric matter. The present calculations include the additional effect of Pauli blocking of the final states.
The influence of the mutual interaction between the two outgoing nucleons (NN-FSI) in electro- and photoinduced two-nucleon knockout from $^{16}O$ has been investigated perturbatively. It turns out that the effect of NN-FSI depends on the kinematics and on the type of reaction considered. In the kinematics studied so far, the effect is larger in pp- than in pn-knockout and in electron induced than in photoinduced reactions.
Reactions that involve the direct and sudden removal of a pair of like or unlike nucleons from a fast projectile beam by a light target nucleus are considered. Specifically, we study the three two-nucleon removal channels from $^{12}${C} that populate final states in the $^{10}${Be}, $^{10}${B} and $^{10}${C} reaction residues. The calculated two-nucleon removal cross sections and the residue momentum distributions are compared with available high energy data at 250, 1050 and 2010 MeV per nucleon, data that are inclusive with respect to the bound final-states of the residues. The measured $np$…
We calculate nucleon-nucleon cross sections in the nuclear medium with unequal densities of protons and neutrons. We use the Dirac-Brueckner-Hartree-Fock approach together with realistic nucleon-nucleon potentials. We examine the effect of neutron/proton asymmetry and find that, although generally mild, it can be significant in specific regions of the phase space under consideration.
Radiative nucleon-deuteron capture and photo disintegration of the three-nucleo n bound state with two-body final states are described. The description uses nucleon degrees of freedom extended to include the excitation of a single nucleon to a \diso. The baryonic interaction and the electromagnetic cu rrent couple nucleonic states and states with a \diso. Exact solutions of three-p article scattering equations are employed for the initial or final states of the reactions. The current has one-baryon and two-baryon contributions. The role of t he \diso in the description of the considered photo …
The doorway states under consideration are eigenstates of the hamiltonian which is the sum of the kinetic energy and the infinite energy limit of the single-particle mass operator. Only Hartree diagrams with the free-space nucleon-nucleon forces contribute to this limit, and therefore the observed doorway state energies carry an important information about both the nuclear structure and the free-space nucleon-nucleon interaction.
We propose to use proton knockout reactions (p,2p) from a deeply bound orbit as a new probe into three-nucleon-force (3NF) effects. The remarkable advantage of using (p,2p) reaction is that we can choose an appropriate kinematical condition to probe the 3NF effects. We analyze (p,2p) reactions on a 40Ca target within the framework of distorted-wave impulse approximation with a g-matrix interaction based on chiral two- and three-nucleon forces. The chiral 3NF effects significantly change the peak height of the triple differential cross section of (p,2p) reaction. We also clarify the corresponde…
The lowest-order correction of the density dependence of in-medium nucleon-nucleon cross sections is obtained from geometrical considerations of Pauli-blocking effects. As a by-product, it is shown that the medium corrections imply an 1/E energy dependence of the density-dependent term.
The Coulomb interaction between the two protons is included in the calculation of three-nucleon hadronic and electromagnetic reactions using screening and renormalization approach. Calculations are done using integral equations in momentum space. The reliability of the method is demonstrated. The Coulomb effect on observables is discussed.
Proton-deuteron radiative capture and two- and three-body photodisintegration of 3He at low energy are described using realistic hadronic dynamics and including the Coulomb force. The sensitivity of the observables to the relativistic corrections of one-nucleon electromagnetic current operator is studied. Significant effects of the relativistic spin-orbit charge are found for the vector analyzing powers in the proton-deuteron radiative capture and for the beam-target parallel-antiparallel spin asymmetry in the three-body photodisintegration of 3He.
Cross sections and photon asymmetries of the exclusive 16O(γ,pn)14N and 16O(γ,pp)14C knockout reactions are calculated for transitions to the low-lying discrete final states of the residual nucleus in the photon-energy range between 100 and 400 MeV. Exclusive reactions may represent a test of reaction mechanisms and a promising tool for investigating the dynamics of nucleon pairs in different states. Cross sections and asymmetries for both (γ,pn) and (γ,pp) turn out to be only slightly affected by short-range correlations and dominated by two-body currents. Therefore, two-nucleon knockout reac…
We develop a model to evaluate the formation rate of the heavy mesic nuclei in the two nucleon pick-up reactions, and apply it to the $^6$Li target cases for the formation of heavy meson-$α$ bound states, as examples. The existence of the quasi-deuteron in the target nucleus is assumed in this model. It is found that the mesic nuclei formation in the recoilless kinematics is possible even for heavier mesons than nucleon in the two nucleon pick-up reactions. We find the formation rate of the meson-$α$ bound states can be around half of the elementary cross sections at the recoilless kinematics …
It is shown that most of the models for analyzing meson-baryon reactions in the nucleon resonance region can be derived from a Hamiltonian formulation of the problem. An extension of the coupled-channel approach to include $ππN$ channel is briefly described and some preliminary results for the $N^*(1535)$ excitation are presented.
The Improved Quantum Molecular Dynamics (ImQMD) model incorporated with the statistical decay model is successful in describing emission of nucleons in the intermediate energy spallation reactions, but not good enough in describing productions of light complex particles, i.e. $d$, $t$, $^3$He and $^4$He. To improve the description on emission of light complex particles, a phenomenological mechanism called surface coalescence and emission is introduced into ImQMD model: nucleon ready to escape from the compound nuclei can coalesce with the other nucleon(s) to form light complex particle and be …
The antikaon production cross section from nucleon-nucleon reactions near threshold is studied in a meson exchange model. We include both pion and kaon exchange, but neglect the interference between the amplitudes. In case of pion exchange the antikaon production cross section can be expressed in terms of the antikaon production cross section from a pion-nucleon interaction, which we take from the experimental data if available. Otherwise, a $K^*$-resonance exchange model is introduced to relate the different reaction cross sections. In case of kaon exchange the antikaon production cross secti…
The in-medium neutron-proton, proton-proton(neutron-neutron) scattering cross sections($σ_{np}^{*}$, $σ_{pp(nn)}^{*}$) are studied based on QHD-II type Lagrangian within the framework of the microscopic transport theory. The results demonstrate that, for free nucleon-nucleon scattering cross sections, the isospin dependence is dominantly caused by $ρ$ meson field. The medium correction of nucleon-nucleon scattering cross sections is also isospin dependent, $σ_{np}^{*}$ depends on the baryon density weakly and $σ_{pp(nn)}^{*}$ depends on the baryon density significantly, which is due to the dif…
We study the sensitivity of isospin dependence of nucleon-nucleon cross section and symmetry energy on the collective transverse in-plane flow. We find that collective transverse flow in Ca+Ca reactions shows great sensitivity to isospin dependence of nn cross section and symmetry energy.
The influence of medium correction from an isospin dependent nucleon nucleon cross section on the fragmentation and nucleon emission in the intermediate energy heavy ion collisions was studied by using an isospin dependent quantum molecular dynamical model (IQMD). We found that the medium correction enhances the dependence of multiplicity of intermediate mass fragment $N_{imf}$ and the number of nucleon emission $N_{n}$ on the isospin effect of the nucleon nucleon cross section, while the momentum dependent interaction (MDI) produces also an important role for enhancing the influence of the med…
One-nucleon removal reactions at or above the Fermi energy are important tools to explore the single-particle structure of exotic nuclei. Experimental data must be compared with calculations to extract structure information, evaluate correlation effects in nuclei or determine reaction rates for nuclear astrophysics. However, there is insufficient knowledge to calculate accurately the cross sections for these reactions. We evaluate the contributions of the final state interaction (FSI) and of the medium modifications of the nucleon-nucleon interactions and obtain the shapes and magnitudes of mo…
We discuss the role of the three-nucleon isospin T=3/2 amplitude in elastic neutron-deuteron scattering and in the deuteron breakup reaction. The contribution of this amplitude originates from charge-independence breaking of the nucleon-nucleon potential and is driven by the difference between neutron-neutron (proton-proton) and neutron-proton forces. We study the magnitude of that contribution to the elastic scattering and breakup observables, taking the locally regularized chiral N4LO nucleon-nucleon potential supplemented by the chiral N2LO three-nucleon force. For comparison we employ also…
We present a formalism to solve the Bethe-Goldstone scattering equation without the use of partial wave expansion which is alternative to the one we developed in a previous work. The present approach is more suitable for the calculation of in-medium nucleon-nucleon cross sections, which are the focal point of this paper. The impact of removing the spherical approximation on the angle and energy dependence of, particularly, in-medium proton-proton and proton-neutron differential cross sections is discussed along with its potential implication.
Several observables of unbound nucleons which are to some extent sensitive to the medium modifications of nucleon-nucleon elastic cross sections in neutron-rich intermediate energy heavy ion collisions are investigated. The splitting effect of neutron and proton effective masses on cross sections is discussed. It is found that the transverse flow as a function of rapidity, the $Q_{zz}$ as a function of momentum, and the ratio of halfwidths of the transverse to that of longitudinal rapidity distribution $R_{t/l}$ are very sensitive to the medium modifications of the cross sections. The transver…
The effects of the symmetry potential and the isospin dependent in-medium nucleon-nucleon (NN) cross section on the number of proton(neutron) emissions N$_p(N_n$) are studied respectively within an isospin-dependent quantum molecular dynamics (IQMD) model. The isospin dependent in-medium NN cross section is found to have a strong influence on N$_p(N_n$) but N$_p(N_n$) is not sensitive to the symmetry potential for the neutron-deficient colliding system at relatively high energies. We propose to make use of the N$_p(N_n$) as a probe to extract information on the isospin dependent in-medium NN cr…
A general analytical expression has been obtained in the diffraction approximation for the polarization of nucleons arising in the deuteron stripping reaction on nuclei at intermediate energies of the incident particles. A tabulated density distribution of the target nucleus and a realistic wave function of the deuteron with correct asymptotic limits at large internucleon distances were used in the calculations. The nucleon-nucleus phase shifts were calculated in the Glauber formalism using the double folding potential. The calculated angular dependencies for the vector analyzing power $A_{y}$…
We study the influence of the nucleon spectral function on eta photo- and electroproduction on nuclei. Besides kinematical effects due to groundstate correlations, also a modification of the S11(1535) decay width is taken into account, which is caused by the possible decay into nucleons with mass smaller than the pole mass in the medium. Hence, resonances with masses below the free N eta threshold can contribute to eta production.
The cross sections for producing K$^-$ mesons in nucleon-hyperon elementary processes are estimated assuming one-pion exchange and using the experimentally known pion-hyperon cross sections. The results are implemented in a transport model which is applied to calculation of proton-nucleus collisions. In significant difference to earlier estimates for heavy-ion collisions the inclusion of the nucleon-hyperon cross section roughly doubles the K$^-$ production in near-threshold proton-nucleus collisions.
We investigate the sensitivity of the non-exclusive nucleon induced deuteron breakup reaction to the three-nucleon interaction and distributions of three-nucleon force effects in inclusive spectra. To this end we solve the three-nucleon Faddeev equation at a number of incoming nucleon laboratory energies using the CD Bonn nucleon-nucleon interaction alone or combined with the 2π-exchange Tucson-Melbourne three-nucleon force. Based on these solutions energy spectra of an outgoing nucleon, at a specified detection angle as well as spectra integrated over that angle, are calculated. By integratin…
We present updated predictions of effective elastic nucleon-nucleon cross sections intended for use in nucleus-nucleus reactions. A novel characteristic of the present approach combines all microscopic medium effects included in the Dirac-Brueckner-Hartree-Fock G-matrix with a Pauli blocking mechanism which is more appropriate for applications in ion-ion reaction models as compared to a previous approach. The effective in-medium cross section is found to be quite sensitive to the description of Pauli blocking in the final configurations.
The continuum-discretized coupled-channels method (CDCC) for exclusive reactions and the eikonal reaction theory (ERT) as an extension of CDCC to inclusive reactions are applied to deuteron induced reactions. The CDCC result reproduces experimental data on the reaction cross section for $d+^{58}$Ni scattering at 200 MeV/nucleon and ERT does data on the neutron-stripping cross section for inclusive $^7$Li$(d,n)$ reaction at 40 MeV. For deuteron induced reactions at 200 MeV/nucleon, target-dependence of the reaction, elastic-breakup, nucleon-stripping, nucleon-removal, complete- and incomplete-f…
The role of the nucleon recoil corrections in low--energy meson--nucleus interactions is examined. We demonstrate explicitly when calculations within the static approximation are justified and when the recoil terms need to be kept explictly in the propagators, depending on whether the S-wave two--nucleon intermediate state is Pauli blocked or not, while the meson is in flight. While the effect is studied in detail for $πd$ scattering only, a large class of other reactions is discussed for which the findings are relevant as well.
Based on an isospin dependent quantum molecular dynamics model we studied the influence of a medium correction of an isospin dependent nucleon nucleon cross section on the fragmentation at the intermediate energy heavy ion collisions. We found that the medium correction from an isospin dependent nucleon nucleon cross section increases the dependence of the fragmentation on the isospin effect of in-medium nucleon nucleon cross section, at the same time, the momentum dependent interaction (MDI) produces also an important role for enhancing the influence of the medium correction on the isospin ef…
We investigated three-nucleon (3N) force effects in the final state interaction (FSI) configuration of the d(n, nn)p breakup reaction at the incoming nucleon energy E n = 200 MeV. Although 3N force effects for the elastic nucleon-deuteron scattering cross section at comparable energies are located predominantly in the region of intermediate and backward angles, the corresponding 3N force effects for the integrated FSI configuration breakup cross section are found also at forward scattering angles.
Correlations in the nuclear wave-function beyond the mean-field or Hartree-Fock approximation are very important to describe basic properties of nuclear structure. Attempts are made to explore details of these correlations in exclusive nucleon knock-out by electron scattering experiments. Basic results of $(e,e'p)$ experiments are reviewed. The role of correlations in $(e,e'NN)$ experiments is discussed. Special attention is paid to a consistent description of the competing effects due to final state interaction, meson exchange current and isobar currents. Results are discussed for systematic …
We examine commonly used approaches to deal with the scattering of electrons from a bound nucleon. Several prescriptions are shown to be related by gauge transformations. Nevertheless, due to current non-conservation, they yield different results. These differences reflect the size of the uncertainty that persists in the interpretation of $(e,e'p)$ experiments.
Understanding pion production in nucleon-nucleon collisions near threshold has been a challenge for the last decades. In particular, the reaction pp -> pppi0 is highly sensitive to short-range mechanisms, because isospin conservation suppresses the otherwise dominant pion exchange term. However, the relative importance of the various reaction processes has been very difficult to establish. After reviewing the state-of-the-art of the theoretical approaches, we address the validity of the distorted-wave Born approximation (DWBA) through its link to the time-ordered perturbation theory (TOPT) dia…
The in-medium nucleon-nucleon cross section is calculated starting from the thermodynamic T-matrix at finite temperatures. The corresponding Bethe-Salpeter-equation is solved using a separable representation of the Paris nucleon-nucleon-potential. The energy-dependent in-medium N-N cross section at a given density shows a strong temperature dependence. Especially at low temperatures and low total momenta, the in-medium cross section is strongly modified by in-medium effects. In particular, with decreasing temperature an enhancement near the Fermi energy is observed. This enhancement can be dis…
The collective flow of nucleons and that of fragments in the 12C + 12C reaction below 150 MeV/nucleon are calculated with the antisymmetrized version of molecular dynamics combined with the statistical decay calculation. Density dependent Gogny force is used as the effective interaction. The calculated balance energy is about 100 MeV/nucleon, which is close to the observed value. Below the balance energy, the absolute value of the fragment flow is larger than that of nucleon flow, which is also in accordance with data. The dependence of the flow on the stochastic collision cross section and it…
We study the transverse flow throughout the mass range from $^{20}Ne+^{20}Ne$ to $^{131}Xe+^{131}Xe$ as a function of the impact parameter. We find that at smaller impact parameters the flow is negative while going through the impact parameter, transverse flow vanishes at a particular colliding geometry named GVF. We find that the mass dependence of GVF is insensitive to the equation of state and momentum dependent interactions whereas it is quite sensitive to the cross section. So it can act as a useful tool to pin down the nucleon nucleon cross section.
We present a relativistic calculation of pion scattering, pion photoproduction and Compton scattering on the nucleon in the energy region of the \Del-resonance (upto 450 MeV photon lab energy), in a unified framework which obeys the unitarity constraint. It is found that the recent data on the cross section for nucleon Compton scattering determine accurately the parameters of the electromagnetic nucleon--\Del\ coupling. The calculated pion-photoproduction partial-wave amplitudes agree well with the recent Arndt analysis.
Contributions of nucleon-nucleon (NN) correlations, meson exchange currents and the residual final state interactions (FSI) on exclusive two-nucleon knock-out reactions induced by electron scattering are investigated. All contributions are derived from the same realistic meson exchange model for the NN interaction. Effects of correlations and FSI are determined in a consistent way by solving the NN scattering equation, the Bethe-Goldstone equation, for two nucleons in nuclear matter. One finds that the FSI re-scattering terms are non-negligible even if the two nucleons are emitted back to back…
Recent advances in the study of the p-d radiative and mu-3he weak capture processes are presented and discussed. The three-nucleon bound and scattering states are obtained using the correlated-hyperspherical-harmonics method, with realistic Hamiltonians consisting of the Argonne v14 or Argonne v18 two-nucleon and Tucson-Melbourne or Urbana IX three-nucleon interactions. The electromagnetic and weak transition operators include one- and two-body contributions. The theoretical accuracy achieved in these calculations allows for interesting comparisons with experimental data.
The nucleon-nucleon interaction is investigated by using the ImQMD model with the three sets of parameters IQ1, IQ2 and IQ3 in which the corresponding incompressibility coefficients of nuclear matter are different. The charge distribution of fragments for various reaction systems are calculated at different incident energies. The parameters strongly affect the charge distribution below the threshold energy of nuclear multifragmentation. The fragment multiplicity spectrum for $^{238}$U+$^{197}$Au at 15 AMeV and the charge distribution for $^{129}$Xe+$^{120}$Sn at 32 and 45 AMeV, and $^{197}$Au+…
We provide a summary of new developments in the area of direct reaction theory with a particular focus on one-nucleon transfer reactions. We provide a status of the methods available for describing (d,p) reactions. We discuss the effects of nonlocality in the optical potential in transfer reactions. The results of a purely phenomenological potential and the optical potential obtained from the dispersive optical model are compared; both point toward the importance of including nonlocality in transfer reactions explicitly. Given the large ambiguities associated with optical potentials, we discus…
Neutron-deuteron elastic scattering cross sections are calculated at different energies using modern nucleon-nucleon interactions and the Tucson-Melbourne three-nucleon force adjusted to the triton binding energy. Predictions based on NN forces only underestimate nucleon-deuteron data in the minima at higher energies starting around 60 MeV. Adding the three-nucleon forces fills up those minima and reduces the discrepancies significantly.
Final-state-exclusive momentum distributions of fast, forward travelling residual nuclei, following two nucleon removal from fast secondary radioactive beams of projectile nuclei, can and have now been measured. Assuming that the most important reaction mechanism is the sudden direct removal of a pair of nucleons from a set of relatively simple, active shell-model orbital configurations, such distributions were predicted to depend strongly on the total angular momentum I carried by the two nucleons - the final state spin for spin 0+ projectiles. The sensitivity of these now-accessible observab…
We discuss the application of the chiral N3LO forces to three-nucleon reactions and point to the challenges which will have to be addressed. Present approaches to solve three-nucleon Faddeev equations are based on a partial-wave decomposition. A rapid increase of the number of terms contributing to the chiral three-nucleon force when increasing the order of the chiral expansion from N2LO to N3LO forced us to develop a fast and effective method of automatized partial wave decomposition. At low energies of the incoming nucleon below about 20MeV, where only a limited number of partial waves is re…
Nucleon recoil polarization observables in $(e,e'\vec{p})$ reactions are investigated using a semi-relativistic distorted-wave model which includes one- and two-body currents with relativistic corrections. Results for the induced polarization asymmetry are shown for closed-shell nuclei and a comparison with available experimental data for $^{12}$C is provided. A careful analysis of meson exchange currents shows that they may affect significantly the induced polarization for high missing momentum.
