We summarize the top-quark mass measurements from the CDF and DO experiments at Fermilab. We combine published Run I (1992-1996) measurements with the most precise published and preliminary Run II (2001-present) measurements using up to 5.6fb-1 of data. Taking uncertainty correlations properly into account, and adding in quadrature the statistical and systematic uncertainties, the resulting preliminary Tevatron average mass of the top quark is M(top) = 173.3+-1.1.
A summary of the most up-to-date top quark mass measurements at CDF is presented. These analyses use top-antitop candidate events detected in the CDF experiment at the Tevatron collider with an integrated luminosity of up to ~3/fb. The combination of all those measurements together with the corresponding top mass measurements from the concurrently running D0 experiment at the Tevatron yields a world average of M_t=[173.1+/-0.6(stat.)+/-1.1(syst.)] GeV/c^2.
Recently, an anomaly of W+jets events at large invariant masses has been reported by CDF. Many interpretations as physics beyond the Standard Model are being offered. We show how such an invariant mass peak can arise from a slight shift in the relative normalization of the top and WW backgrounds.
We summarize and combine direct measurements of the width of the W boson in data collected by the Tevatron experiments CDF and D0 at Fermilab. Results from CDF and D0 RunI (1992-1995) have been combined with the CDF 200 pb^-1 results from the first period of RunII (2001-2004) and the recent 1 fb^-1 result in the electron channel from D0 (2002-2006). The results are corrected for any inconsistencies in parton distribution functions and assumptions about electroweak parameters used in the different analyses. The resulting Tevatron average for the width of the W boson is Gamma_W = 2,046 +- 49.
We demonstrate that there is no evidence of any Wjj excess or deficit within CDF data if a data-derived background estimation that includes single-top-quark production is used instead of a Monte Carlo estimate. Instead, when coupled with the CDF measurement of single-top-quark production, a more interesting anomaly exists within CDF data: namely, there are too many W+0 b-tag and W+2 b-tag events, and too few W+1 b-tag events. As we previously predicted, there is no significant evidence of any of these anomalies in the D0 data set.
Recently, the CDF experiment at the Fermilab Tevatron has used complementary methods to make multiple measurements of the singly produced top quark cross section. All analyses use the same dataset with more than 2 fb^-1 of CDF data and event selection based on W+2 or W+3 jet events with at least one b-tagged jet. However, due to differences in analysis techniques these results are not fully correlated and a combination provides improved experimental precision. The results on the direct measurements of the W-boson width, based on the data collected by the Tevatron experiments CDF and DØat Fermilab during {\RunI} from 1992 to 1996 and {\RunII} since 2001 are summarized. The combination of the published {\RunI} and preliminary {\RunII} results, taking correlated uncertainties properly into account, is presented. The resulting preliminary Tevatron average for the total decay width of the W boson is: $\GW=2078\pm87 \MeV$, where the total error consists of a statistical part of $62 \MeV$ and a systematic part of $60 \MeV$.

We combine the results of the CDF and D0 searches for chargino and neutralino production in Gauge-Mediated SUSY using the two-photon and missing Et channel. The data are p-pbar collisions produced at the Tevatron with sqrt(s)=1.96 TeV, with 202 pb^-1 collected at CDF and 263 pb^-1 collected at D0. The combined limit excludes a chargino mass less than 209 GeV/c^2. This result significantly extends the individual experimental limits.

We report a combination of the CDF and D0 measurements of the inclusive single top quark production cross section in the s- and t-channels in ppbar collisions at a center of mass energy of 1.96TeV. The total integrated luminosity included in CDF's analysis is 3.2 fb^-1 and D0's analysis has 2.3 fb^-1. A Bayesian analysis is used to extract the cross section from the distributions of multivariate discriminants provided by the collaborations. A color-singlet neutral vector boson is considered as a possible common origin of the top forward-backward asymmetry and the CDF dijet resonance. We identify chiral and flavor structures of the couplings of this new vector boson to the standard model quarks for which one could accommodate both data. We also demonstrate that non-vanishing observables involving longitudinal top polarizations can provide useful criteria for the possible existence of parity violating new physics in the q q^bar -> t t^bar process, and discrimination between the flavor-conserving and flavor-violating cases.

We present the latest combination of searches for a standard model (SM) Higgs boson in ppbar collisions at \sqrts= 1.96 TeV recorded by the CDF~II detector at the Fermilab Tevatron. We demonstrate the recent observation of a peak in the dijet invariant mass of the Wjj signal observed by the CDF Collaboration can be explained as the same upward fluctuation observed by CDF in single-top-quark production. In general, both t-channel and s-channel single-top-quark production produce kinematically induced peaks in the dijet spectrum. Since CDF used a Monte Carlo simulation to subtract the single-top backgrounds instead of data, a peak in the dijet spectrum is expected. The new physics required to explain the anomalies recently reported by the D0 and CDF collaborations, namely the top forward-backward asymmetry (FBA), the like-sign dimuon charge asymmetry in semileptonic b decay, and the CDF dijet excess, has to feature an amount of flavor symmetry in order to satisfy the severe constrains arising from flavor violation. In this paper we show that, once baryon number conservation is imposed, color & weak triplet scalars with hypercharge $Y=1/3$ can feature the required flavor structure as a consequence of standard model gauge invariance. We construct anomaly-free leptophobic U(1)' flavor models with light Z'(~ 145 GeV). In order to allow renormalizable Yukawa interactions for the standard model chiral fermions, new Higgs doublets with nonzero U(1)' charges are introduced. Then the neutral (pseudo)scalar Higgs bosons as well as Z' contribute to the t\bar{t} and the same sign top pair productions [σ(t\bar{t}]) and σ(tt)], and one can evade the strong constraint from σ(tt). The top forward-backward asymmetry (A_{FB}) and Wjj excess at CDF could be accommodated by A_{FB}^{New} = 0.084 ~ 0.12 and σ(W j j) \lesssim O(10) pb \times \…
We combine the results of CDF and DO searches for the rare decays B_s to mu+ mu- and B_d to mu+ mu-. The experiments use 364 pb-1 and 300 pb-1 of data respectively. The limits on the branching ratios are obtained by normalizing the estimated sensitivity to the decay B+ to J/psi K+, taking into account the fragmentation ratios f_u/f_s(d). The combined results exclude branching ratios of BR(B_s to mu+ mu-) > 1.5x10-7 and BR(B_d to mu+ mu- > 4.0x10-8 at 95% confidence level. These are the most stringent limits on these decays at the present time.
We show that the scalar sector needed for fermion mass generation when the flavor symmetry of the standard model is maximally gauged can consistently explain two anomalies reported recently by the CDF collaboration - the forward-backward asymmetry in t-tbar pair production, and the dijet invariant mass in the Wjj channel. A pair of nearly degenerate scalar doublets with masses in the range 150-200 GeV explain these anomalies, with additional scalars predicted in the mass range 100-400 GeV. We present recent top physics results in the CDF including updates of top mass, \ttbar cross section, single top search, forward-backward asymmetry, and the differential cross section of \ttbar. Most of measurements utilize close to the integrated luminosity of 3 fb$^{-1}$.
This letter presents results on the precision measurement of the top quark mass and a combination of the best CDF top mass measurements. A combination by the TevEWWG (Tevatron electroweak working group) of the best top mass results from CDF and D0 in Run 1 and Run 2 of the Tevatron is also presented. This result is the current world average, and offers an uncertainty less than 1%. The new mass value has been included in traditional LEP EWWG fits to precision electroweak data, and implications for the Standard Model Higgs have been derived.
The most recent results on top quark physics at CDF are reported. Measurements of cross-section and mass are presented, and the status of single top quark production searches are discussed. The results obtained from probing various top quark properties are also presented.

Fermilab's Tevatron accelerator is recently performing at record luminosities that enables a program systematically addressing the physics of top quarks. The CDF collaboration has analyzed up to 5/fb of proton anti-proton collisions from the Tevatron at a center of mass energy of 1.96 TeV. The large datasets available allow to push top quark measurements to higher and higher precision and have lead to the recent observation of electroweak single top quark production at the Tevatron. This article reviews recent results on top quark physics from the CDF experiment.
We present the recent results of top-quark physics using up to 6 fb$^{-1}$ of $p\bar{p}$ collisions analyzed by the CDF collaboration. The large number of top quark events analyzed, of the order of several thousands, allows stringent checks of the standard model predictions. Also, the top quark is widely believed to be a window to new physics. We present the latest measurements of top quark intrinsic properties as well as direct searches for new physics in the top sector.
It has been more than 15 years since the discovery of the top quark. Great strides have been made in the measurement of the top quark mass and the properties of it. Most results show consistency with the standard model. However, using 5 fb$^{-1}$ data, recent measurements of the asymmetry in the production of top and anti-top quark pair have demonstrated surprisingly large values at CDF. Using 4 fb$^{-1}$ data, D0 also has similar effect.
This document was written as part of the PANIC 2008 conference proceedings in Eilat Israel. We review top mass measurements performed at CDF Run II through October of 2008. The basic algorithms used in many mass measurements are discussed as are some common systematic difficulties. Mass results in combination with the D0 Collaboration are presented, and the implications on the Standard Model Higgs mass are discussed.

I summarize recent top quark physics results from the Fermilab Tevatron experiments. Since the observation of the top quark by CDF and D0 in 1995, the experimental focus has shifted to a detailed study of the top quark's properties. This article describes recent measurements of the top quark production cross section, mass, kinematic properties, branching ratios, $V_{tb}$, and the W polarization in top decays.
The top quark with its mass of about 172 GeV/c^2 is the most massive fundamental particle observed by experiment. In this talk we highlight the most recent measurements of several top quark properties performed with the CDF detector based on data samples corresponding to integrated luminosities up to 1 fb-1. These results include a search for top quark pair production via new massive resonances, measurements of the helicity of the W boson from top-quark decay, and a direct limit on the lifetime of the top quark.
We present the most recent CDF results in the measurements of the decay and production vertex of the top-quark. New results on forward-backward asymmetry in top-antitop events are presented. The mass of the top quark M_top is interesting both as a fundamental parameter of the standard model and as an important input to precision electroweak tests. The Collider Detector at Fermilab (CDF) has a robust program of top quark mass analyses, including the most precise single measurement, M_top = 173.4 +/- 2.8 GeV/c^2, using 680 pb^-1 of ppbar collision data. We present the recent results of top-quark physics using up to 6 fb$^{-1}$ of $p \bar p$ collisions at a center of mass energy of $\sqrt s$ = 1.96 TeV analyzed by the CDF collaboration. Thanks to this large data sample, precision top quark measurements are now a reality at the Tevatron. Further, several new physics signals could appear in this large dataset. We present results of the search for the super-symmetric partner of the top quark, the stop quark, decaying to a b-quark and chargino with the subsequent chargino decay into a neutralino, lepton and neutrino. Using the data sample corresponding to 2.7 inv fb of integrated luminosity, collected with the CDF Detector of the Tevatron collider, we reconstruct the stop mass of candidate events and set 95% C. L. upper limits on masses of the stop quark, chargino and neutralino and the branching ratio of chargino to neutralino+lepton+neutrino.
Preliminary results of ttbar cross section measurements and single top exclusion limits of the Tevatron experiments CDF and D0 are presented. The different measurements are based on a dataset between 140 and 200 inverse pb corresponding to a data taking period from spring 2002 to September 2003. The ttbar cross section measurements are consistent with each other and the Standard Model prediction. Data and Monte-Carlo prediction are in good agreement in the search for single top quark. Its observation is anticipated with roughly 2 inverse fb integrated luminosity.
The top quark plays an important role in the grand scheme of particle physics, and is also interesting on its own merits. We present recent results from CDF in the search for new phenomena appearing in the top quark samples. These results use data from proton-antiproton collisions at sqrt{s} = 1.96 TeV corresponding to an integrated luminosity ranging from 195 pb^-1 to 760 pb^-1. No deviations are observed from the Standard Model expectations, so upper limits on the size of possible new phenomena are set.
We present the first exclusive observation of the ttbar to hadronic tau + jets decay channel. Using these events from 1.96 TeV ppbar collisions at CDF, we measure the ttbar cross section as well as the top quark mass. Events require a single hadronic tau, large missing transverse energy, and exactly 4 jets of which at least one must be tagged as a b jet. The cross section measurement is extracted from a Poisson likelihood function based on the observed number of events and the predicted number of signal and background events for a given ttbar cross section. We report on recent measurements of the top quark mass using t t-bar candidate events selected in ~320/pb of data from the "Run II" operation period of the Tevatron p p-bar collider. More emphasis is given on the best single measurement to date Mtop = 173.5 +3.9 -3.8 GeV/c^2, provided by CDF using the "lepton plus jets" channel, where one W decays to a lepton-neutrino pair and the other into quarks (top quarks decay to Wb almost 100% of the time).

In addition to the precursory measurements of the top quark mass and $\ttbar$ cross section, we have performed a number of other analyses which test the consistency of the $\ttbar$ data sample with the standard model (SM). Deviations from SM expectations could provide hints for new physics. We find that the data are consistent with the SM. The CDF Collaboration has analyzed 955/pb of CDF II data to search for electroweak single top quark production at the Tevatron. We employ three different analysis techniques to search for a single top signal: multivariate likelihood functions; neural networks; the matrix element analysis technique. The sensitivities to a single top signal at the rate predicted by the Standard Model are 2.1 - 2.6 sigma. We present a measurement of the mass of the top quark from proton-antiproton collisions recorded at the CDF experiment in Run II of the Fermilab Tevatron. We analyze events from the single lepton plus jets final state ($t\bar t\to W^+bW^-\bar b\to lνb q \bar q'\bar b$). The top quark mass is extracted using a direct calculation of the probability density that each event corresponds to the $t\bar t$ final state. The probability is a function of both the mass of the top quark and the energy scale of the calorimeter jets, which is constrained {\it in situ} by the hadronic $W$ boson mass. Using 16…
Measurements of the ttbar production cross-section at \sqrt{s} = 1.96TeV in proton-antiproton collisions were performed by the CDF and Dzero collaborations using ttbar final states where both W's decay hadronically.
