When is a Function Securely Computable?

A subset of a set of terminals that observe correlated signals seek to compute a given function of the signals using public communication. It is required that the value of the function be kept secret from an eavesdropper with access to the communication. We show that the function is securely computable if and only if its entropy is less than the "aided secret key" capacity of an associated secrecy generation model, for which a single-letter characterization is provided.

Secure Computation of Randomized Functions: Further Results

We consider secure computation of randomized functions between two users, where both the users (Alice and Bob) have inputs, Alice sends a message to Bob over a rate-limited, noise-free link, and then Bob produces the output. Information complexity is computable

The information complexity of a function $f$ is the minimum amount of information Alice and Bob need to exchange to compute the function $f$. In this paper we provide an algorithm for approximating the information complexity of an arbitrary function $f$ to within any additive error $α> 0$, thus resolving an open question as to whether information complexity is computable. In the process, we give the first explicit upper bound on the rate of convergence of the information complexity of $f$ when restricted to $b$-bit protocols to the (unrestricted) information complexity of $f$.

Effective Capacity and Randomness of Closed Sets

We investigate the connection between measure and capacity for the space of nonempty closed subsets of {0,1}*. For any computable measure, a computable capacity T may be defined by letting T(Q) be the measure of the family of closed sets which have nonempty intersection with Q.
