Consider a generic one-parameter unfolding of a homoclinic tangency of an area preserving surface diffeomorphism. We show that for many parameters (residual subset in an open set approaching the critical value) the corresponding diffeomorphism has a transitive invariant set $Ω$ of full Hausdorff dimension. The set $Ω$ is a topological limit of hyperbolic sets and is accumulated by elliptic islands. As an application we prove that stochastic sea of the standard map has full Hausdorff dimension for sufficiently large topologically generic parameters.

On stochastic stability of expanding circle maps with neutral fixed points

It is well-known that the Manneville-Pomeau map with a parabolic fixed point of the form $x\mapsto x+x^{1+α} \mod 1$ is stochastically stable for $α\ge 1$ and the limiting measure is the Dirac measure at the fixed point. In this paper we show that if $α\in (0,1)$ then it is also stochastically stable. Indeed, the stationary measure of the random map converges strongly to the absolutely continuous invariant measure for the deterministic system as the noise tends to zero.

Stochastic stability at the boundary of expanding maps

We consider endomorphisms of a compact manifold which are expanding except for a finite number of points and prove the existence and uniqueness of a physical measure and its stochastical stability. We also characterize the zero-noise limit measures for a model of the intermittent map and obtain stochastic stability for some values of the parameter. The physical measures are obtained as zero-noise limits which are shown to satisfy Pesin?s Entropy Formula.

A.C.I.M for Random Intermittent Maps : Existence, Uniqueness and Stochastic Stability

We study a random map $T$ which consists of intermittent maps $\{T_{k}\}_{k=1}^{K}$ and a position dependent probability distribution $\{p_{k,\varepsilon}(x)\}_{k=1}^{K}$. We prove existence of a unique absolutely continuous invariant measure (ACIM) for the random map $T$. Moreover, we show that, as $\varepsilon$ goes to zero, the invariant density of the random system $T$ converges in the $L^{1}$-norm to the invariant density of the deterministic intermittent map $T_{1}$. The outcome of this paper contains a first result on stochastic stability, in the strong sense, of intermittent maps.

Stochastic control stabilizing unstable or chaotic maps

The paper considers a stabilizing stochastic control which can be applied to a variety of unstable and even chaotic maps. Compared to previous methods introducing control by noise, we relax assumptions on the class of maps, as well as consider a wider range of parameters for the same maps. This approach allows to stabilize unstable and chaotic maps by noise. Almost every real quadratic map is either regular or stochastic

We prove uniform hyperbolicity of the renormalization operator for all possible real combinatorial types. We derive from it that the set of infinitely renormalizable parameter values in the real quadratic family $P_c: x\mapsto x^2+c$ has zero measure. This yields the statement in the title (where ``regular'' means to have an attracting cycle and ``stochastic'' means to have an absolutely continuous invariant measure). An application to the MLC problem is given.

Stochastic Stability for Fiber Expanding Maps via a Perturbative Spectral Approach

We consider small perturbations of expanding maps induced by skew-product mappings whose base dynamics are not invertible necessarily. Adopting a previously developed perturbative spectral approach, we show stability of the densities of the unique absolutely continuous invariant probability measures for expanding maps under these perturbations, and upper bounds on the rate of exponential decay of fiber correlations associated to the measures as the noise level goes to zero.

Nonlinear Transport in the Stochastic Standard Map

We study a stochastically-driven standard map. The addition of a noise term destroys the invariant manifolds that organize the phase space which allows for more widespread transport than in the noiseless case. Using appropriately defined hitting times to quantify the dynamics, we identify two qualitatively different classes of transport: linear and nonlinear. Linear transport is primarily driven by the stochasticity in the system, while nonlinear transport results from a combination of the nonlinear dynamics and stochasticity and provides a significant speed-up in transport.
