We study correlation functions of the totally asymmetric simple exclusion process (TASEP) in discrete time with backward sequential update. We prove a determinantal formula for the generalized Green function which describes transitions between positions of particles at different individual time moments. In particular, the generalized Green function defines a probability measure at staircase lines on the space-time plane. The marginals of this measure are the TASEP correlation functions in the space-time region not covered by the standard Green function approach. As an example, we calculate the current correlation function that is the joint probability distribution of times taken by selected particles to travel given distance. An asymptotic analysis shows that current fluctuations converge to the ${Airy}_2$ process.
We apply the Matrix Product Ansatz to study the Totally Asymmetric Simple Exclusion Process on a ring with a generalized discrete-time dynamics depending on two hopping probabilities, $p$ and $\tilde{p}$. The model contains as special cases the TASEP with parallel update, when $\tilde{p} =0$, and with sequential backward-ordered update, when $\tilde{p} =p$. We construct a two-dimensional matrix-product representation and use it to obtain exact finite-size expressions for the partition function, the current of particles and the two-point correlation function. Our main new result is the derivati…
We study the model of the totally asymmetric exclusion process with generalized update, which compared to the usual totally asymmetric exclusion process, has an additional parameter enhancing clustering of particles. We derive the exact multiparticle distributions of distances travelled by particles on the infinite lattice for two types of initial conditions: step and alternating once. Two different scaling limits of the exact formulas are studied. Under the first scaling associated to Kardar-Parisi-Zhang (KPZ) universality class we prove convergence of joint distributions of the scaled partic…
The generalized totally asymmetric exclusion process (TASEP) [J. Stat. Mech. P05014 (2012)] is an integrable generalization of the TASEP equipped with an interaction, which enhances the clustering of particles. The process interpolates between two extremal cases: the TASEP with parallel update and the process with all particles irreversibly merging into a single cluster moving as an isolated particle. We are interested in the large time behavior of this process on a ring in the whole range of the parameter $λ$ controlling the interaction. We study the stationary state correlations, the cluster…
A method to calculate exact Green's functions on lattices in various dimensions is presented. Expressions in terms of generalized hypergeometric functions in one or more variables are obtained for various examples by relating the resolvent to a contour integral, evaluated using residues. Different ways of arranging the series leads to different combinations of hypergeometric functions providing identities involving generalized hypergeometric functions. The method is shown to be useful for computing Green's functions with next-nearest neighbor hopping as well.
In this paper we study the time dependent Schrödinger equation with all possible self-adjoint singular interactions located at the origin, which include the $δ$ and $δ'$-potentials as well as boundary conditions of Dirichlet, Neumann, and Robin type as particular cases. We derive an explicit representation of the time dependent Green's function and give a mathematical rigorous meaning to the corresponding integral for holomorphic initial conditions, using Fresnel integrals. Superoscillatory functions appear in the context of weak measurements in quantum mechanics and are naturally treated as h…
We develop the theory of causal radiation Green functions on hyperbolic and hyperspherical spaces using a constructive approach based on generalized Mehler-Fock transforms. This approach focuses for $H^d$ on the kernel of the transformation expressed in terms of hyperbolic angles $θ$ with $0\leqθ<\infty$. The kernel provides an explicit representation for the generalized delta distribution which acts as the source term for the radiation, and allows easy implementation of the causality or retardation condition and determination of the Green function. We obtain the corresponding kernel distribut…
When one tries to take into account the non-trivial vacuum structure of Quantum Field Theory, the standard functional-integral tools such as generating functionals or transitional amplitudes, are often quite inadequate for such purposes. Here we propose a generalized generating functional for Green's functions which allows to easily distinguish among a continuous set of vacua that are mutually connected via unitary canonical transformations. In order to keep our discussion as simple as possible, we limit ourselves to Quantum Mechanics where the generating functional of Green's functions is con…
We establish that the unusual two-form gauge transformations needed in the Green-Schwarz anomaly cancellation mechanism fit naturally into an $α'$-deformed generalized geometry. The algebra of gauge transformations is a consistent deformation of the Courant bracket and features a nontrivial modification of the diffeomorphism group. This extension of generalized geometry emerged from a `doubled $α'$-geometry', which provides a construction of exactly gauge and T-duality invariant $α'$ corrections to the effective action.
The well-known Green's function method has been recently generalized to nonlinear second order differential equations. In this paper we study possibilities of exact Green's function solutions of nonlinear differential equations of higher order. We show that, if the nonlinear term satisfies a generalized homogeneity property, then the nonlinear Green's function can be represented in terms of the homogeneous solution. Specific examples and a numerical error analysis support the advantage of the method. We show how, for the Bousinesq and Kortweg-de Vries equations, we are forced to introduce high…
We define the notion of distribution on an infinite dimensional space motivated by the notion of Feynman path integral and by construction of probability measures for generalized random fields. This notion of distribution turns out to be mathematically equivalent to the notion of generating functional of Green functions.
Unique transformation properties under the hyperspherical inversion of a partial differential equation describing a stationary scalar wave in an $N$-dimensional ($N\geqslant2$) Maxwell fish-eye medium are exploited to construct a closed form of the Green's function for that equation. For those wave numbers for which the Green's function fails to exist, the generalized Green's function is derived. Prospective physical applications are mentioned.
A construction of the heat kernel diagonal is considered as element of generalized Zeta function, that, being meromorfic function, its gradient at the origin defines determinant of a differential operator in a technique for regularizing quadratic path integral. Some classes of explicit expression in the case of finite-gap potential coefficient of the heat equation are constructed.
Radiative energy and momentum transfer due to fluctuations of electromagnetic fields arising due to temperature difference between objects is described in terms of the cross-spectral densities of the electromagnetic fields. We derive relations between thermal non-equilibrium contributions to energy and momentum transfer and surface integrals of tangential components of the dyadic Green's functions of the vector Helmholtz equation. The expressions derived here are applicable to objects of arbitrary shapes, dielectric functions, as well as magnetic permeabilities. For the case of radiative trans…
In this paper, we investigate the so-called Bopp-Podolsky electrodynamics. The Bopp-Podolsky electrodynamics is a prototypical gradient field theory with weak nonlocality in space and time. The Bopp-Podolsky electrodynamics is a Lorentz and gauge invariant generalization of the Maxwell electrodynamics. We derive the retarded Green functions, first derivatives of the retarded Green functions, retarded potentials, retarded electromagnetic field strengths, generalized Lienard-Wiechert potentials and the corresponding electromagnetic field strengths in the framework of the Bopp-Podolsky electrodyn…
