Let $(E, \| \cdot\|)$ be a Banach space such that, for some $q\geq 2$, the function $x\mapsto \|x\|^q$ is of $C^2$ class and its first and second Fréchet derivatives are bounded by some constant multiples of $(q-1)$-th power of the norm and $(q-2)$-th power of the norm and let $S$ be a $C_0$-semigroup of contraction type on $(E, \| \cdot\|)$. We consider the following stochastic convolution process \begin{align*} u(t)=\int_0^t\int_ZS(t-s)ξ(s,z)\,\tilde{N}(\mathrm{d} s,\mathrm{d} z), \;\;\; t\geq 0, \end{align*} where $\tilde{N}$ is a compensated Poisson random measure on a measurable space $(Z,\mathcal{Z})$ and $ξ:[0,\infty)\timesΩ\times Z\rightarrow E$ is an $\mathbb{F}\otimes \mathcal{Z}$-predictable function. We prove that there exists a càdlàg modification a $\tilde{u}$ of the process $u$ which satisfies the following maximal inequality \begin{align*} \mathbb{E} \sup_{0\leq s\leq t} \|\tilde{u}(s)\|^{q^\prime}\leq C\ \mathbb{E} \left(\int_0^t\int_Z \|ξ(s,z) \|^{p}\,N(\mathrm{d} s,\mathrm{d} z)\right)^{\frac{q^\prime}{p}}, \end{align*} for all $ q^\prime \geq q$ and $1<p\leq 2$ with $C=C(q,p)$.
We prove maximal inequalities for $L_q$-valued martingales obtained by stochastic integration with respect to compensated random measures. A version of these estimates for integrals with respect to compensated Poisson random measures were first obtained by Dirksen (arXiv:1208:3885) using arguments based on inequalities for sums of independent Banach-space-valued random variables, geometric properties of Banach spaces, and decoupling inequalities. Our proofs are completely different and rely almost exclusively on classical stochastic analysis for real semimartingales.
We prove new upper and lower bounds for Banach space-valued stochastic integrals with respect to a compensated Poisson random measure. Our estimates apply to Banach spaces with non-trivial martingale (co)type and extend various results in the literature. We also develop a Malliavin framework to interpret Poisson stochastic integrals as vector-valued Skorohod integrals, and prove a Clark-Ocone representation formula.
In an M-type 2 Banach space, firstly we explore some properties of the set-valued stochastic integral associated with the stationary Poisson point process. By using the Hahn decomposition theorem and bounded linear functional, we obtain the main result: the integral of a set-valued stochastic process with respect to the compensated Poisson measure is a set-valued submartingale but not a martingale unless the integrand degenerates into a single-valued process. Secondly we study the strong solution to the set-valued stochastic integral equation, which includes a set-valued drift, a single-valued…
This paper presents a survey of maximal inequalities for stochastic convolutions in $2$-smooth Banach spaces and their applications to stochastic evolution equations.
We present remarkably simple proofs of Burkholder-Davis-Gundy inequalities for stochastic integrals and maximal inequalities for stochastic convolutions in Banach spaces driven by Lévy-type processes. Exponential estimates for stochastic convolutions are obtained and two versions of Itô's formula in Banach spaces are also derived. Based on the obtained maximal inequality, the existence and uniqueness of mild solutions of stochastic quasi-geostrophic equation with Lévy noise is established.
We show that paths of solutions to parabolic stochastic differential equations have the same regularity in time as the Wiener process (as of the current state of art). The temporal regularity is considered in the Besov-Orlicz space $B^{1/2}_{Φ_2,\infty}(0,T;X)$ where $Φ_2(x)=\exp(x^2)-1$ and $X$ is a $2$-smooth Banach space.
We study measures in Banach space which arise as the skew convolution product of two other measures where the convolution is deformed by a skew map. This is the structure that underlies both the theory of Mehler semigroups and operator self-decomposable measures. We show how that given such a set-up the skew map can be lifted to an operator that acts at the level of function spaces and demonstrate that this is an example of the well known functorial procedure of second quantisation. We give particular emphasis to the case where the product measure is infinitely divisible and study the second q…
Let (e^{tA})_{t \geq 0} be a C_0-contraction semigroup on a 2-smooth Banach space E, let (W_t)_{t \geq 0} be a cylindrical Brownian motion in a Hilbert space H, and let (g_t)_{t \geq 0} be a progressively measurable process with values in the space γ(H,E) of all γ-radonifying operators from H to E. We prove that for all 0<p<\infty there exists a constant C, depending only on p and E, such that for all T \geq 0 we have \E \sup_{0\le t\le T} || \int_0^t e^{(t-s)A} g_s dW_s \ ||^p \leq C \mathbb{E} (\int_0^T || g_t ||_{γ(H,E)}^2 dt)^\frac{p}{2}. For p \geq 2 the proof is based on the observation …
This article focuses on a new concept of quadratic variation for processes taking values in a Banach space $B$ and a corresponding covariation. This is more general than the classical one of Métivier and Pellaumail. Those notions are associated with some subspace $χ$ of the dual of the projective tensor product of $B$ with itself. We also introduce the notion of a convolution type process, which is a natural generalization of the Itô process and the concept of $\bar ν_0$-semimartingale, which is a natural extension of the classical notion of semimartingale. The framework is the stochastic calc…
In stochastic partial differential equations it is important to have pathwise regularity properties of stochastic convolutions. In this note we present a new sufficient condition for the pathwise continuity of stochastic convolutions in Banach spaces.
Space-time regularity of linear stochastic partial differential equations is studied. The solution is defined in the mild sense in the state space $L^p$. The corresponding regularity is obtained by showing that the stochastic convolution integrals are Hölder continuous in a suitable function space. In particular cases, this allows to show space-time Hölder continuity of the solution. The main tool used is a hypercontractivity result on Banach-space valued random variables in a finite Wiener chaos.
We provide a version of the stochastic Fubini's theorem which does not depend on the particular stochastic integrator chosen as far as the stochastic integration is built as a continuous linear operator from an $L^p$ space of Banach space-valued processes (the stochastically integrable processes) to an $L^p$ space of Banach space-valued paths (the integrated processes). Then, for integrators on a Hilbert space $H$, we consider stochastic convolutions with respect to a strongly continuous map $R:(0,T]\rightarrow L(H)$, not necessarily a semigroup. We prove existence of predictable versions of s…
The $R$-boundedness of certain families of vector-valued stochastic convolution operators with scalar-valued square integrable kernels is the key ingredient in the recent proof of stochastic maximal $L^p$-regularity, $2<p<\infty$, for certain classes of sectorial operators acting on spaces $X=L^q(μ)$, $2\le q<\infty$. This paper presents a systematic study of $R$-boundedness of such families. Our main result generalises the afore-mentioned $R$-boundedness result to a larger class of Banach lattices $X$ and relates it to the $\ell^{1}$-boundedness of an associated class of deterministic convolu…
In this paper we prove Burkholder-Davis-Gundy inequalities for a general martingale $M$ with values in a UMD Banach space $X$. Assuming that $M_0=0$, we show that the following two-sided inequality holds for all $1\leq p<\infty$: \begin{align}\label{eq:main}\tag{$\star$} \mathbb E \sup_{0\leq s\leq t} \|M_s\|^p \eqsim_{p, X} \mathbb E γ([\![M]\!]_t)^p ,\;\;\; t\geq 0. \end{align} Here $ γ([\![M]\!]_t) $ is the $L^2$-norm of the unique Gaussian measure on $X$ having $[\![M]\!]_t(x^*,y^*):= [\langle M,x^*\rangle, \langle M,y^*\rangle]_t$ as its covariance bilinear form. This extends to general U…
We will give a proof of the following fact. If $\mathfrak{A}_1$ and $\mathfrak{A}_2$, $\tilde η_1$ and $\tilde η_2$, $ξ_1$ and $ξ_2$ are two examples of filtered probability spaces, time homogeneous compensated Poisson random measures, and progressively measurable Banach space valued processes such that the laws on $L^p([0,T],{L}^{p}(Z,ν;E))\times \CM_I([0,T]\times Z)$ of the pairs $(ξ_1,η_1)$ and $(ξ_2,η_2)$ %, $i=1,2$, are equal, and $u_1$ and $u_2$ are the corresponding stochastic convolution processes, then the laws on $ (\DD([0,T];X)\cap L^p([0,T];B)) \times L^p([0,T],{L}^{p}(Z,ν;E))\time…
In the article, integration of temporal functions in (possibly non-UMD) Banach spaces with respect to (possibly non-Gaussian) fractional processes from a finite sum of Wiener chaoses is treated. The family of fractional processes that is considered includes, for example, fractional Brownian motions of any Hurst parameter or, more generally, fractionally filtered generalized Hermite processes. The class of Banach spaces that is considered includes a large variety of the most commonly used function spaces such as the Lebesgue spaces, Sobolev spaces, or, more generally, the Besov and Lizorkin-Tri…
We study an optimal relaxed control problem for a class of semilinear stochastic PDEs on Banach spaces perturbed by multiplicative noise and driven by a cylindrical Wiener process. The state equation is controlled through the nonlinear part of the drift coefficient which satisfies a dissipative-type condition with respect to the state variable. The main tools of our study are the factorization method for stochastic convolutions in UMD type-2 Banach spaces and certain compactness properties of the factorization operator and of the class of Young measures on Suslin metrisable control sets.
We study the convergence in probability in the non-standard $M_1$ Skorokhod topology of the Hilbert valued stochastic convolution integrals of the type $\int_0^t F_γ(t-s)\,d L(s)$ to a process $\int_0^t F(t-s)\, d L(s)$ driven by a Lévy process $L$. In Banach spaces we introduce strong, weak and product modes of $M_1$-convergence, prove a criterion for the $M_1$-convergence in probability of stochastically continuous càdlàg processes in terms of the convergence in probability of the finite dimensional marginals and a good behaviour of the corresponding oscillation functions, and establish crit…
The present paper continues the study of infinite dimensional calculus via regularization, started by C. Di Girolami and the second named author, introducing the notion of weak Dirichlet process in this context. Such a process X, taking values in a Banach space H, is the sum of a local martingale and a suitable orthogonal process. The concept of weak Dirichlet process fits the notion of convolution type processes, a class including mild solutions for stochastic evolution equations on infinite dimensional Hilbert spaces and in particular of several classes of stochastic partial differential equ…
We derive new explicit bounds for the total variation distance between two convolution products of $n$ probability distributions, one of which having identical convolution factors. Approximations by finite signed measures of arbitrary order are considered as well. We are interested in bounds with magic factors, i.e. roughly speaking $n$ also appears in the denominator. Special emphasis is given to the approximation by the $n$-fold convolution of the arithmetic mean of the distributions under consideration. As an application, we consider the multinomial approximation of the generalized multinom…
Suppose $λ_1$ and $λ_2$ are infinitely divisible Radon measures on real Banach spaces $E_1$ and $E_2$, respectively and let $T:E_{1} \rightarrow E_{2}$ be a Borel measurable mapping so that $T(λ_1) * ρ= λ_2 $ for some Radon probability measure $ρ$ on $E_{2}$. Extending previous results for the Gaussian and the Poissonian case, we study the problem of representing the `transition operator' $P_{T}:L^{p}(E_{2}, λ_{2}) \rightarrow L^{p}(E_{1}, λ_{1})$ given by $$ P_{T}f(x) = \int_{E_{2}}f(T(x) + y)dρ(y) %% dρ(y) instead of ρ(dy) in order to unify notations $$ as the second quantisation of a contra…
We prove a modification to the classical maximal inequality for stochastic convolutions in 2-smooth Banach spaces using the factorization method. This permits to study semilinear stochastic partial differential equations with unbounded diffusion operators driven by cylindrical Brownian motion via the mild solution approach. In the case of finite dimensional driving noise, provided sufficient regularity on the coefficients, we establish existence and uniqueness of strong solutions.
In this article we investigate the existence and uniqueness of the stochastic Volterra equation driven by a \levy noise of pure jump type. In particular, we consider the following type of equation $ du(t) = ( A\int_0 ^t b(t-s) u(s)\,ds) \, dt + F(t,u(t))\,dt+ \int_ZG(t,u(t), z) \tilde η(dz,dt) + \int_{Z_L}G_L(t,u(t), z) η_L(dz,dt) ;\, t\in (0,T], $, $u(0)=u_0$, where $Z$ and $Z_L$ are Banach spaces, $\tilde η$ is a time-homogeneous compensated Poisson random measure on $Z$ with \levy measure $ν$ capturing the small jumps, and $η_L$ is a time-homogeneous Poisson random measure on $Z_L$ with fin…
In the paper Sato (2006) there are introduced two families of improper random integrals and the corresponding two convolution semigroups of infinitely divisible laws on $\Rset^d$. Theorem 3.1 gives a relation (a factorization property) between those two integrals. Here, using \emph{the random integral mappings} $I^{h,r}_{(a,b]}$ (cf. the survey article Jurek (2011)), we give a simpler proof that is also valid for measures on Banach spaces. Furthermore, using our technique we establish yet other relations between those two families of improper stochastic integrals.
We investigate, in the setting of UMD Banach spaces E, the continuous dependence on the data A, F, G and X_0 of mild solutions of semilinear stochastic evolution equations with multiplicative noise of the form dX(t) = [AX(t) + F(t,X(t))]dt + G(t,X(t))dW_H(t), X(0)=X_0, where W_H is a cylindrical Brownian motion on a Hilbert space H. We prove continuous dependence of the compensated solutions X(t)-e^{tA}X_0 in the norms L^p(Ω;C^λ([0,T];E)) assuming that the approximating operators A_n are uniformly sectorial and converge to A in the strong resolvent sense, and that the approximating nonlinearit…
L.Accardi shows that the Banach space of singed measures is homeomorphic to the Hilbert space formed by so-called root measures. In this paper, we redefine root measures in view of the theory of measures on infinite dimensional spaces, and introduce a notion of differentiation, Fourier transform, and convolution product for root measures, and examine those relations. We also study about Lévy Laplacian on Wiener space as application. It is shown that the symbol of Lévy Laplacian is equal to the quadratic variation of paths.
Consider the transformation $T:S^1 \to S^1$, such that $T(x)=2\, x$ (mod 1), and where $S^1$ is the unitary circle. Suppose $J:S^1 \to \mathbb{R}$ is Holder continuous and positive, and moreover that, for any $y\in S^1$, we have that $\sum_{x\,\,\text{such that}\,\,\, T(x)= y} \, J(x)=1.$ We say that $ρ$ is a Gibbs probability for the Holder continuous potential $\log J$, if $\mathcal{L}_{\log J}^* \,(ρ)=ρ,$ where $\mathcal{L}_{\log J}$ is the Ruelle operator for $\log J$. We call $J$ the Jacobian of $ρ$. Suppose $ν=μ_1*μ_2$ is the convolution of two Gibbs probabilities $μ_1$ and $μ_2$ associa…
We prove a new Burkholder-Rosenthal type inequality for discrete-time processes taking values in a 2-smooth Banach space. As a first application we prove that if $(S(t,s))_{0\leq s\leq T}$ is a $C_0$-evolution family of contractions on a $2$-smooth Banach space $X$ and $(W_t)_{t\in [0,T]}$ is a cylindrical Brownian motion on a probability space $(Ω,P)$, then for every $0<p<\infty$ there exists a constant $C_{p,X}$ such that for all progressively measurable processes $g: [0,T]\times Ω\to X$ the process $(\int_0^t S(t,s)g_sdW_s)_{t\in [0,T]}$ has a continuous modification and $$E\sup_{t\in [0,T]…
