In this paper, we propose a resource allocation algorithm for the downlink of sectorized two-dimensional (2-D) OFDMA cellular networks assuming statistical Channel State Information (CSI) and fractional frequency reuse. The proposed algorithm can be implemented in a distributed fashion without the need to any central controlling units. Its performance is analyzed assuming fast fading Rayleigh channels and Gaussian distributed multicell interference. We show that the transmit power of this simple algorithm tends, as the number of users grows to infinity, to the same limit as the minimal power required to satisfy all users' rate requirements i.e., the proposed resource allocation algorithm is asymptotically optimal. As a byproduct of this asymptotic analysis, we characterize a relevant value of the reuse factor that only depends on an average state of the network.
In this paper, a new low-complexity demodulation scheme is proposed for interleaved orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) downlink system with N subcarriers and M users using circular convolution. In the proposed scheme, each user's signal is extracted from the received interleaved OFDMA signal of M users by using circular convolution in the time domain and then fast Fourier transformed in the reduced size N over M. It is shown that the computational complexity of the proposed scheme for the interleaved OFDMA downlink system is much less than that of the conventional one.
We consider downlink OFDMA in which users are imposed with different proportional-rate constraints, and a base station would like to maximise user rate over subcarrier assignment (SA) and power allocation (PA). To attain the objective, we propose a chunk-based SA and low-complexity PA algorithms. Numerical results show that the proposed SA and PA can provide higher average minimum achievable rate than the existing schemes while keeping the deviation from the rate constraint small for both single-cell and multi-cell systems with fractional frequency reuse.
Consider the cellular downlink Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access (OFDMA) system where a single transmitter transmits signals to multiple receivers on multiple discrete subcarriers. To adapt fast channel fluctuations, the transmitter should be able to dynamically allocate subcarrier and power resources. Assuming perfect channel knowledge, we formulate the joint subcarrier and power allocation problem as two optimization problems: the first is the one of minimizing the total transmission power subject to quality of service constraints, and the second is the one of maximizing a system…
In this paper, we study resource allocation for downlink orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) systems with the objective to enable ultra-reliable low latency communication (URLLC). To meet the stringent delay requirements of URLLC, the impact of short packet communication is taken into account for resource allocation algorithm design. In particular, the resource allocation design is formulated as a weighted system sum throughput maximization problem with quality-of-service (QoS) constraints for the URLLC users. The formulated problem is non-convex, and hence, finding the globa…
In previous studies on the capacity of orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) systems, it is usually assumed that co-channel interference (CCI) from adjacent cells is a Gaussian-distributed random variable. However, very-little work shows that the Gaussian assumption does not hold true in OFDMA systems. In this paper, the statistical property of CCI in downlink OFDMA systems is studied, and spectral efficiency of downlink OFDMA system is analyzed based on the derived statistical model. First, the probability density function (PDF) of CCI in downlink OFDMA cellular systems is stu…
This paper considers coordinated linear precoding in downlink multicell multiuser orthogonal frequency-division multiple access (OFDMA) network. A less-complex, fast and provably convergent algorithm that maximizes the weighted sum-rate with per base station (BS) transmit power constraint is formulated. We approximate the nonconvex weighted sum- rate maximization (WSRM) problem with a solvable convex form by means of sequential parametric convex approximation (SPCA) approach. The second order cone program (SOCP) formulations of the objective function and constraints of the optimization problem…
In this work, we deal with resource allocation in the downlink of spatial multiplexing MIMO-OFDMA systems. In particular, we concentrate on the problem of jointly optimizing the transmit and receive processing matrices, the channel assignment and the power allocation with the objective of minimizing the total power consumption while satisfying different quality-of-service requirements. A layered architecture is used in which users are first partitioned in different groups on the basis of their channel quality and then channel assignment and transceiver design are sequentially addressed startin…
This paper studies joint uplink (UL) and downlink (DL) resource allocation in user-centric orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) cloud radio access network (CRAN), where the users select the distributed remote radio heads (RRHs) to cooperatively serve their UL and DL transmissions over different subcarriers (SCs). The goal of this paper is to maximize the system throughput through jointly optimizing UL/DL scheduling, SC assignment, RRH grouping/clustering and power allocation under the maximum power and fronthaul capacity constraints. The problem is formulated as a mixed intege…
Opportunistic scheduling and beamforming schemes with reduced feedback are proposed for MIMO-OFDMA downlink systems. Unlike the conventional beamforming schemes in which beamforming is implemented solely by the base station (BS) in a per-subcarrier fashion, the proposed schemes take advantages of a novel channel decomposition technique to perform beamforming jointly by the BS and the mobile terminal (MT). The resulting beamforming schemes allow the BS to employ only {\em one} beamforming matrix (BFM) to form beams for {\em all} subcarriers while each MT completes the beamforming task for each …
In this pair of papers (Part I and Part II in this issue), we investigate the issue of power control and subcarrier assignment in a sectorized two-cell downlink OFDMA system impaired by multicell interference. As recommended for WiMAX, we assume that the first part of the available bandwidth is likely to be reused by different base stations (and is thus subject to multicell interference) and that the second part of the bandwidth is shared in an orthogonal way between the different base stations (and is thus protected from multicell interference). Although the problem of multicell resource allo…
This paper considers distributed linear beamforming in downlink multicell multiuser orthogonal frequency-division multiple access networks. A fast convergent solution maximizing the weighted sum- rate with per base station (BS) transmiting power constraint is formulated. We approximate the non- convex weighted sum-rate maximization (WSRM) problem with a semidefinite relaxed solvable convex form by means of a series of approximation based on interference alignment (IA) analysis. The WSRM optimization is a two-stage optimization process. In the first stage, the IA conditions are satisfied. In th…
In this paper, we consider the problem of joint scheduling and resource allocation in the OFDMA downlink, with the goal of maximizing an expected long-term goodput-based utility subject to an instantaneous sum-power constraint, and where the feedback to the base station consists only of ACK/NAKs from recently scheduled users. We first establish that the optimal solution is a partially observable Markov decision process (POMDP), which is impractical to implement. In response, we propose a greedy approach to joint scheduling and resource allocation that maintains a posterior channel distribution…
In this paper, we study resource allocation algorithm design for multiuser orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) ultra-reliable low latency communication (URLLC) in mobile edge computing (MEC) systems. To achieve the stringent end-to-end delay and reliability requirements of URLLC MEC systems, we propose joint uplink-downlink resource allocation and finite blocklength transmission. Furthermore, we propose a partial time overlap between the uplink and downlink frames to minimize the end-to-end delay, which introduces new time causality constraints. Then, the proposed resource al…
This paper considers the resource allocation algorithm design for downlink multiple-input single-output (MISO) orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) ultra-reliable low latency communication (URLLC) systems. To meet the stringent delay requirements of URLLC, short packet transmission is adopted and taken into account for resource allocation algorithm design. The resource allocation is optimized for maximization of the weighted system sum throughput subject to quality-of-service (QoS) constraints regarding the URLLC users' number of transmitted bits, packet error probability, and…
We investigate transmission energy minimization via optimizing wireless relay selection in orthogonal-frequency-division multiple access (OFDMA) networks. We take into account the impact of the load of cells on transmission energy. We prove the NP-hardness of the energy-aware wireless relay selection problem. To tackle the computational complexity, a partial optimality condition is derived for providing insights in respect of designing an effective and efficient algorithm. Numerical results show that the resulting algorithm achieves high energy performance.
This paper studies cooperative schemes for the inter-cell interference control in orthogonal-frequency-divisionmultiple- access (OFDMA) cellular systems. The downlink transmission in a simplified two-cell system is examined, where both cells simultaneously access the same frequency band using OFDMA. The joint power and subcarrier allocation over the two cells is investigated for maximizing their sum throughput with both centralized and decentralized implementations. Particularly, the decentralized allocation is achieved via a new cooperative interference control approach, whereby the two cells…
This paper studies interference alignment (IA) based multi-cell cooperative resource allocation for the downlink OFDMA with universal frequency reuse. Unlike the traditional scheme that treats subcarriers as separate dimensions for resource allocation, the IA technique is utilized to enable frequency-domain precoding over parallel subcarriers. In this paper, the joint optimization of frequency-domain precoding via IA, subcarrier user selection and power allocation is investigated for a cooperative three-cell OFDMA system to maximize the downlink throughput. This paper considers joint uplink/downlink of an orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA)-based heterogeneous network (HetNet) consisting of a single macro base station (MBS), multiple femto base stations (FBSs) and access points (APs) where base stations (BSs) can offload data to APs and each mobile user (MU) is able to harvest the received energy using the simultaneous wireless information and power transfer (SWIPT) technique. We also suppose that the harvested energy of MUs are used for their uplink information transmission. We devise a radio resource allocation (RRA) algorithm…
Current OFDMA systems group resource blocks into subband to form the basic feedback unit. Homogeneous feedback design with a common subband size is not aware of the heterogeneous channel statistics among users. Under a general correlated channel model, we demonstrate the gain of matching the subband size to the underlying channel statistics motivating heterogeneous feedback design with different subband sizes and feedback resources across clusters of users. Employing the best-M partial feedback strategy, users with smaller subband size would convey more partial feedback to match the frequency …
We consider a resource management problem in a multi-cell downlink OFDMA network, whereby the goal is to find the optimal per base station resource allocation and user-base station assignment. The users are assumed to be strategic/selfish who have private information on downlink channel states and noise levels. To induce truthfulness among the users as well as to enhance the spectrum efficiency, the resource management strategy needs to be both incentive compatible and efficient. However, due to the mixed (discrete and continuous) nature of resource management in this context, the implementati…
In this paper, we study the resource allocation for an orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) radio system employing a full-duplex base station for serving multiple half-duplex downlink and uplink users simultaneously. The resource allocation design objective is the maximization of the weighted system throughput while limiting the information leakage to guarantee secure simultaneous downlink and uplink transmission in the presence of potential eavesdroppers. The algorithm design leads to a mixed combinatorial non-convex optimization problem and obtaining the globally optimal sol…
We consider providing services for passengers in a high-speed train and local users (quasi-static users) in a single OFDMA system. For the train, we apply a two-hop architecture, under which, passengers communicate with base stations (BSs) via a mobile relay (MR) installed in the train cabin. With this architecture, all passengers in the train can be represented by the MR. Since the channels of the MR and local users vary differently, we consider allocating system resources (power and subcarriers) over two time-scales for them. We formulate the problem as a capacity optimization problem for th…
Uplink power control plays a key role on the performance of uplink cellular network. In this work, the power control factor ($\in[0,1]$) is evaluated based on three parameters namely: average transmit power, coverage probability and average rate. In other words, we evaluate power control factor such that average transmit power should be low, coverage probability of cell-edge users should be high and also average rate over all the uplink users should be high. We show through numerical studies that the power control factor should be close to $0.5$ in order to achieve an acceptable trade-off betw…
In a companion paper, we characterized the optimal resource allocation in terms of power control and subcarrier assignment, for a downlink sectorized OFDMA system. In our model, the network is assumed to be one dimensional for the sake of analysis. We also assume that a certain part of the available bandwidth is likely to be reused by different base stations while that the other part of the bandwidth is shared in an orthogonal way between these base stations. The optimal resource allocation characterized in Part I is obtained by minimizing the total power spent by the network under the constra…
This paper proposes a unique discovery signal as an enabler of peer-to-peer (P2P) communication which overlays a cellular network and shares its resources. Applying P2P communication to cellular network has two key issues: 1. Conventional ad hoc P2P connections may be unstable since stringent resource and interference coordination is usually difficult to achieve for ad hoc P2P communications; 2. The large overhead required by P2P communication may offset its gain. We solve these two issues by using a special discovery signal to aid cellular network-supervised resource sharing and interference …
A novel transmission protocol is conceived for a multi-user, multi-relay, multiple-input--multiple-output orthogonal frequency-division multiple-access (MIMO-OFDMA) cellular network based on joint transmit and receive beamforming. More specifically, the network's MIMO channels are mathematically decomposed into several effective multiple-input--single-output (MISO) channels, which are spatially multiplexed for transmission. For the sake of improving the attainable capacity, these MISO channels are grouped using a pair of novel grouping algorithms, which are then evaluated in terms of their per…
We consider the problem of simultaneous user-scheduling, power-allocation, and rate-selection in an OFDMA downlink, with the goal of maximizing expected sum-utility under a sum-power constraint. In doing so, we consider a family of generic goodput-based utilities that facilitate, e.g., throughput-based pricing, quality-of-service enforcement, and/or the treatment of practical modulation-and-coding schemes (MCS). Since perfect knowledge of channel state information (CSI) may be difficult to maintain at the base-station, especially when the number of users and/or subchannels is large, we conside…
Relay deployment in Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access (OFDMA) based cellular networks helps in coverage extension and or capacity improvement. In OFDMA system, each user requires different number of subcarriers to meet its rate requirement. This resource requirement depends on the Signal to Interference Ratio (SIR) experienced by a user. Traditional methods to compute blocking probability cannot be used in relay based cellular OFDMA networks. In this paper, we present an approach to compute the blocking probability of such networks. We determine an expression of the probability dis…
This paper addresses the problem of energy-efficient resource allocation in the downlink of a cellular OFDMA system. Three definitions of the energy efficiency are considered for system design, accounting for both the radiated and the circuit power. User scheduling and power allocation are optimized across a cluster of coordinated base stations with a constraint on the maximum transmit power (either per subcarrier or per base station). The asymptotic noise-limited regime is discussed as a special case. %The performance of both an isolated and a non-isolated cluster of coordinated base stations…
In a full-duplex (FD) multi-user network, the system performance is not only limited by the self-interference but also by the co-channel interference due to the simultaneous uplink and downlink transmissions. Joint design of the uplink/downlink transmission direction of users and the power allocation is crucial for achieving high system performance in the FD multi-user network. In this paper, we investigate the joint uplink/downlink transmission direction assignment (TDA), user paring (UP) and power allocation problem for maximizing the system max-min fairness (MMF) rate in a FD multi-user ort…
Full-duplex is a promising technology and great system performance enhancement can be achieved especially when we apply it to base stations. In this paper, we consider a Multi-User OFDMA network consisting of one Full-duplex base station, several uplink users, and a number of downlink users. A joint subcarrier, downlink user and uplink user mapping and power allocation optimization problem is investigated. In detail, we first decompose the 3-dimensional mapping problem into three 2-dimensional sub-problems and solve them by iteratively using classical Hungarian Method. Then, based on the dual …
We address the problem of downlink beamforming for mitigating the co-channel interference in multi-cell OFDMA networks. Based on the network utility maximization framework, we formulate the problem as a non-convex optimization problem subject to the per-cell power constraints, in which a general utility function of SINR is used to characterize the network performance. Some classical utility functions, such as the proportional fairness utility, the weighted sum-rate utility and the {$α$}-fairness utility, are subsumed as special cases of our formulation. To solve the problem in a distributed fa…
In this paper, we consider distributive subband, power and rate allocation for a two-hop transmission in an orthogonal frequency-division multiple-access (OFDMA) cellular system with fixed relays which operate in decode-and-forward strategy. We take into account of system fairness by considering weighted sum goodput as our optimization objective. Based on the cluster-based architecture, we obtain a fast-converging distributive solution with only local imperfect CSIT by using decomposition of the optimization problem. To further reduce the signaling overhead and computational complexity, we pro…
The unprecedented growth of internet contents, specially social media, invoking a challenge to the load of cellular networks. In addition, nowadays, the demands of quality of experience (QoE) became a more practical norm in contrast of quality of service (QoS), in which downloading delay is an important factor of it. To satisfy this demand, we propose two resource allocation (RA) algorithms to optimize the place of social media in the cache of the Base stations (BSs) and radio resources (i.e., transmit powers and subcarriers), jointly in a multi-cell Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Acce…
The implementation of device-to-device (D2D) underlaying or overlaying pre-existing cellular networks has received much attention due to the potential of enhancing the total cell throughput, reducing power consumption and increasing the instantaneous data rate. In this paper we propose a distributed power allocation scheme for D2D OFDMA communications and, in particular, we consider the two operating modes amenable to a distributed implementation: dedicated and reuse modes. The proposed schemes address the problem of maximizing the users' sum rate subject to power constraints, which is known t…
A novel subcarrier-pair based opportunistic DF protocol is proposed for cooperative downlink OFDMA transmission aided by a decode-and-forward (DF) relay. Specifically, user message bits are transmitted in two consecutive equal-duration time slots. A subcarrier in the first slot can be paired with a subcarrier in the second slot for the DF relay-aided transmission to a user. In particular, the source and the relay can transmit simultaneously to implement beamforming at the subcarrier in the second slot for the relay-aided transmission. Each unpaired subcarrier in either the first or second slot…
In this paper, we consider the downlink of large-scale multi-cellular OFDMA-based networks and study performance bounds of the system as a function of the number of users $K$, the number of base-stations $B$, and the number of resource-blocks $N$. Here, a resource block is a collection of subcarriers such that all such collections, that are disjoint have associated independently fading channels. We derive novel upper and lower bounds on the sum-utility for a general spatial geometry of base stations, a truncated path loss model, and a variety of fading models (Rayleigh, Nakagami-$m$, Weibull, …
Green cellular networking has become an important research area in recent years due to environmental and economical concerns. Switching off under-utilized BSs during off-peak traffic load conditions is a promising approach to reduce energy consumption in cellular networks. In practice, during initial cell planning, the BS locations and RAN parameters are optimized to meet the basic system design requirements like coverage, capacity, overlap, QoS etc. As these metrics are tightly coupled with each other due to co-channel interference, switching off certain BSs may affect the system requirements…
This contribution presents a method of obtaining the optimal power and subcarrier allocations that maximize the energy-efficiency (EE) of a multi-user, multi-relay, orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) cellular network. Initially, the objective function (OF) is formulated as the ratio of the spectral-efficiency (SE) over the power consumption of the network. This OF is shown to be quasi-concave, thus Dinkelbach's method can be employed for solving it as a series of parameterized concave problems. We characterize the performance of the aforementioned method by comparing the opt…
Reuse-1 systems operating in the sub-1 GHz UHF band are limited by substantial co-channel interference (CCI). In such orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) cellular systems, the inter-sector or inter-tower interference (ITI) makes accurate signal recovery quite challenging as sub-1 GHz bands only support single-input single-output (SISO) links. Interference-aware receiver algorithms are essential to mitigate the ITI in such low-frequency bands. Such algorithms enable ubiquitous mobile broadband access over the entire homeland, say with >95% geographical coverage with quality of…
The ergodic rate performance and limits of orthogonal frequency-division multiple access (OFDMA) cognitive radios (CRs) is studied under imperfect cross-link knowledge. We propose a novel stochastic interference management and exploitation technique to mitigate and control the imposed interference by CRs on licensed users in underlay spectrum sharing. The optimum downlink channel-adaptive resource allocation (RA) algorithm is designed to maximize the CRs functionality subject to the satisfying average transmit and probabilistic peak interference power constraints. An expression of the cumulati…
We first conceive a novel transmission protocol for a multi-relay multiple-input--multiple-output orthogonal frequency-division multiple-access (MIMO-OFDMA) cellular network based on joint transmit and receive beamforming. We then address the associated network-wide spectral efficiency (SE) and energy spectral efficiency (ESE) optimization problems. More specifically, the network's MIMO channels are mathematically decomposed into several effective multiple-input--single-output (MISO) channels, which are essentially spatially multiplexed for transmission. Hence, these effective MISO channels ar…
For OFDMA systems, we find a rough but easily computed upper bound for the probability of loosing communications by insufficient number of sub-channels on downlink. We consider as random the positions of receiving users in the system as well as the number of sub-channels dedicated to each one. We use recent results of the theory of point processes which reduce our calculations to the first and second moments of the total required number of sub-carriers.
This paper considers a relay-assisted bidirectional cellular network where the base station (BS) communicates with each mobile station (MS) using OFDMA for both uplink and downlink. The goal is to improve the overall system performance by exploring the full potential of the network in various dimensions including user, subcarrier, relay, and bidirectional traffic. In this work, we first introduce a novel three-time-slot time-division duplexing (TDD) transmission protocol. This protocol unifies direct transmission, one-way relaying and network-coded two-way relaying between the BS and each MS. …
In this paper, a reduced complexity algorithm is proposed for grouped-subcarriers and power allocation in the downlink of OFDMA packet access wireless systems. The available subcarriers for data communication are grouped into partitions (groups) where each group is defined as a subchannel. The scheduler located at the base station allocates subchannels to users based on the variance of subchannel gains. The proposed algorithm for group allocation is a two-step algorithm that allocates groups to users based on the descending order of their variances to resolve the conflicting selection problem,…
Spectrum refarming (SR) refers to a radio resource management technique which allows different generations of cellular networks to operate in the same radio spectrum. In this paper, an underlay SR model is proposed, in which an Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access (OFDMA) system refarms the spectrum of a Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) system through intelligently exploiting the interference margin provided by the CDMA system. We investigate the mutual effect of the two systems by evaluating the asymptotic signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio (SINR) of the users, based on whic…
In this paper, the joint power and subcarrier allocation problem is solved in the context of maximizing the energy-efficiency (EE) of a multi-user, multi-relay orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) cellular network, where the objective function is formulated as the ratio of the spectral-efficiency (SE) over the total power dissipation. It is proven that the fractional programming problem considered is quasi-concave so that Dinkelbach's method may be employed for finding the optimal solution at a low complexity. This method solves the above-mentioned master problem by solving a …
Fractional frequency reuse (FFR) is an interference management technique well-suited to OFDMA-based cellular networks wherein the cells are partitioned into spatial regions with different frequency reuse factors. To date, FFR techniques have been typically been evaluated through system-level simulations using a hexagonal grid for the base station locations. This paper instead focuses on analytically evaluating the two main types of FFR deployments - Strict FFR and Soft Frequency Reuse (SFR) - using a Poisson point process to model the base station locations. The results are compared with the s…
In this paper, we develop a resource allocation algorithm for uplink of in-band full-duplex (FD) cellular networks. The FD cellular network is assumed to be based on orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) and consists of a base station communicating with multiple users. Some of the users in the network act as relay for other users and help them to transmit their data to the base station. These relays are FD and work based on amplify and forward (AF) protocol. By appropriate selection of the relays and optimized allocation of subcarriers and powers to all users, we try to maximiz…
In this letter, we propose the interference cancellation through interference alignment at the downlink of cognitive cellular networks. Interference alignment helps the spatial resources to be shared among primary and secondary cells and thus, it can provide higher degrees of freedom through interference cancellation. We derive and depict the achievable degrees of freedom. We also analyse and calculate the achievable sum rates applying water-filling optimal power allocation.
In this paper, we study resource allocation algorithm design for multi-user orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) ultra-reliable low latency communication (URLLC) in mobile edge computing (MEC) systems. To meet the stringent end-to-end delay and reliability requirements of URLLC MEC systems, we propose joint uplink-downlink resource allocation and finite blocklength transmission. Furthermore, we employ a partial time overlap between the uplink and downlink frames to minimize the end-to-end delay, which introduces a new time causality constraint. The proposed resource allocation…
In our previous work we considered the uplink of a hexagonal cellular network topology and showed that linear "one-shot" interference alignment (IA) schemes are able to achieve the optimal degrees of freedom (DoFs) per user, under a decoded-message passing framework that allows base-stations to exchange their own decoded messages over local backhaul links. In this work, we provide the dual framework for the downlink of cellular networks with the same backhaul architecture, and show that for every "one-shot" IA scheme that can achieve $d$ DoFs per user in the uplink, there exists a dual "one-sh…
Adaptive Radio Resource Allocation is essential for guaranteeing high bandwidth and power utilization as well as satisfying heterogeneous Quality-of-Service requests regarding next generation broadband multicarrier wireless access networks like LTE and Mobile WiMAX. A downlink OFDMA single-cell scenario is considered where heterogeneous Constant-Bit-Rate and Best-Effort QoS profiles coexist and the power is uniformly spread over the system bandwidth utilizing a Uniform Power Loading (UPL) scenario. We express this particular QoS provision scenario in mathematical terms, as a variation of the w…
Exploiting full-duplex (FD) technology on base stations (BSs) is a promising solution to enhancing the system performance. Motivated by this, we revisit a full-duplex base station (FD-BS) aided OFDMA system, which consists of one BS, several uplink/downlink users and multiple subcarriers. A joint 3-dimensional (3D) mapping scheme among subcarriers, down-link users (DUEs), uplink users (UUEs) is considered as well as an associated power allocation optimization. In detail, we first decompose the complex 3D mapping problem into three 2-dimensional sub ones and solve them by using the iterative Hu…
Opportunistic scheduling and beamforming schemes have been proposed previously by the authors for reduced-feedback MIMO-OFDMA downlink systems where the MIMO channel of each subcarrier is decomposed into layered spatial subchannels. It has been demonstrated that significant feedback reduction can be achieved by returning information about only one beamforming matrix (BFM) for all subcarriers from each MT, compared to one BFM for each subcarrier in the conventional schemes. However, since the previously proposed channel decomposition was derived based on singular value decomposition, the result…

Assuming equal power allocation across subcarriers, we formulate the problem to maximize the aggregate harvested power of all users while satisfying secrecy rate requirement of individual user by joint subcarrier allocation and optimal power splitting ratio selection. Due to the NP-hardness of the …
