We obtain new uniqueness theorems for harmonic functions defined on the unit disc or in the half plane. These results are applied to obtain new resolvent descriptions of spectral subspaces of polynomially bounded groups of operators on Banach spaces.

Uniqueness theorems for (sub-)harmonic functions with applications to operator theory

We obtain uniqueness theorems for harmonic and subharmonic functions of a new type. They lead to new analytic extension criteria and new conditions for stability of operator semigroups in Banach spaces with Fourier type.

Symmetric shift-invariant subspaces and harmonic maps

The Grassmannian model represents harmonic maps from Riemann surfaces by families of shift-invariant subspaces of a Hilbert space. We impose a natural symmetry condition on the shift-invariant subspaces that corresponds to considering an important class of harmonic maps into symmetric and $k$-symmetric spaces. In particular, we obtain new general forms for such symmetric shift-invariant subspaces and for the corresponding extended solutions.

Uniqueness property for quasiharmonic functions

In this paper we consider class of continuous functions, called quasiaharmonic functions, admitting best approximations by harmonic polynomials. In this class we prove a uniqueness theorem by analogy with the analytic functions.

Near-isometric duality of Hardy norms with applications to harmonic mappings

Hardy spaces in the complex plane and in higher dimensions have natural finite-dimensional subspaces formed by polynomials or by linear maps. We use the restriction of Hardy norms to such subspaces to describe the set of possible derivatives of harmonic self-maps of a ball, providing a version of the Schwarz lemma for harmonic maps. These restricted Hardy norms display unexpected near-isometric duality between the exponents 1 and 4, which we use to give an explicit form of harmonic Schwarz lemma.

Dilations, Wandering Subspaces, and Inner Functions

The objective of this paper is to study wandering subspaces for commuting tuples of bounded operators on Hilbert spaces. It is shown that, for a large class of analytic functional Hilbert spaces $\mathcal{H}_K$ on the unit ball in $\mathbb C^n$, wandering subspaces for restrictions of the multiplication tuple $M_z = (M_{z_1}, \ldots ,M_{z_n})$ can be described in terms of suitable $\mathcal{H}_K$-inner functions. Cyclicity in the harmonic Dirichlet space

The harmonic Dirichlet space $\cal{D} (\mathbb{T})$ is the Hilbert space of functions $f \in L^2(\mathbb{T})$ such that $$\|f\|_{\cal{D} (\mathbb{T})}^2 := \sum_{n\in\mathbb{Z}} (1+|n|)|\hat{f}(n)|^2 < \infty.$$ We give sufficient conditions for $f$ to be cyclic in $\cal{D} (\mathbb{T})$, in other words, for $\{ζ^nf(ζ):\ n\geq 0\}$ to span a dense subspace of $\cal{D} (\mathbb{T})$.

Laplacians on quotients of Cauchy-Riemann complexes and Szegö map for $L^2$-harmonic forms

We compute the spectra of the Tanaka type Laplacians on the Rumin complex, a quotient of the tangential Cauchy-Riemann complex on the unit sphere in $C^n$. We prove that Szegö map is a unitary operator from a subspace of $(p, q-1)$-forms on the sphere defined by the Tanaka operators and the normal vector field onto the space of $L^2$-harmonic $(p, q)$-forms on the unit ball. Our results generalize earlier result of Folland.
