In Grand Unified Theories (GUTs), the Standard Model (SM) gauge couplings need not be unified at the GUT scale due to the high-dimensional operators. Considering gravity mediated supersymmetry breaking, we study for the first time the generic gauge coupling relations at the GUT scale, and the general gaugino mass relations which are valid from the GUT scale to the electroweak scale at one loop. We define the index k for these relations, which can be calculated in GUTs and can be determined at the Large Hadron Collider and the future International Linear Collider. Thus, we give a concrete definition of the GUT scale in these theories, and suggest a new way to test general GUTs at future experiments. We also discuss five special scenarios with interesting possibilities. With our generic formulae, we present all the GUT-scale gauge coupling relations and all the gaugino mass relations in the SU(5) and SO(10) models, and calculate the corresponding indices k. Especially, the index k is 5/3 in the traditional SU(5) and SO(10) models that have been studied extensively so far. Furthermore, we discuss the field theory realization of the U(1) flux effects on the SM gauge kinetic functions in F-theory GUTs, and calculate their indices k as well.
From general supergravity theory with unified gauge symmetry, we obtain the low-energy effective Lagrangian by taking the flat limit and integrating out the superheavy fields in model-independent manner. The scalar potential possesses some excellent features. Some light fields classified by using supersymmetric fermion mass, in general, would get intermediate masses at the tree level after the supersymmetry is broken. We show that the stability of weak scale can be guaranteed under some conditions. There exist extra non-universal contributions to soft supersymmetry breaking terms which can giv…
Inflationary slow-roll dynamics in Einstein gravity with a non-minimal scalar-curvature coupling can be equivalent to that in the certain f(R) gravity theory. We review the correspondence and extend it to N=1 supergravity. The non-minimal coupling in supergravity is rewritten in terms of the standard (`minimal') N=1 matter-coupled supergravity by using curved superspace. The established equivalence between two different inflationary theories means the same inflaton scalar potential, and does not imply the same post-inflationary dynamics and reheating.
Minimal supergravity mediation of supersymmetry breaking has attracted much attention due to its simplicity, which leads to its predictive power. We consider how Nature possibly realizes minimal supergravity through inflationary selection of the theory. Minimality is impressively consistent with the present observational bounds and it might be tested with the aid of low-energy soft parameters obtained in future experiments.
We study non-thermal gravitino production in the minimal supergravity inflation. In this minimal model utilizing orthogonal nilpotent superfields, the particle spectrum includes only graviton, gravitino, inflaton, and goldstino. We find that a substantial fraction of the cosmic energy density can be transferred to the longitudinal gravitino due to non-trivial change of its sound speed. This implies either a breakdown of the effective theory during reheating or a serious gravitino problem.
We provide a succinct way to construct the supersymmetric completion of $R^n$ $(n\ge3)$ in components using superconformal formulation of old minimal supergravity. As a consequence, we obtain the polynomial $f(R)$ supergravity extending the supersymmetric Starobinsky model to any higher power of $R$. The supersymmetric vacua in polynomial $f(R)$ supergravity are studied. We also present the $R^n$ extended Minimal Volkov-Akulov-Starobinsky Model.
Natural supergravity models of new inflation are reconsidered as minimal inflationary models within slow-roll approximation. Their running spectral index is derived in a revised form with recent observational results and future refinements in mind. This will possibly determine essential model parameters with respect to Planck-suppressed operators.
For a top quark mass fixed to its measured value, we find natural regions of minimal supergravity parameter space where all squarks, sleptons, and heavy Higgs scalars have masses far above 1 TeV and are possibly beyond the reach of the Large Hadron Collider at CERN. This result is simply understood in terms of ``focus point'' renormalization group behavior and holds in any supergravity theory with a universal scalar mass that is large relative to other supersymmetry breaking parameters. We highlight the importance of the choice of fundamental parameters for this conclusion and for naturalness …
We give a formulation of linearized minimal 5-dimensional supergravity in N = 1 superspace. Infinitesimal local 5D diffeomorphisms, local 5D Lorentz transformations, and local 5D supersymmetry are all realized as off-shell superfield transformations. Compactification on an S^1 / Z_2 orbifold and couplings to brane-localized supermultiplets are very simple in this formalism. We use this to show that 5-dimensional supergravity can naturally generate mu and B mu terms of the correct size in gaugino- or radion-mediated supersymmetry breaking. We also include a self-contained review of linearized m…
We show how supersymmetric hybrid inflation with scalar spectral index $n_{\rm s}\simeq 0.96 - 0.97$ is realized in the context of quasi-minimal supergravity if we insist that the inflationary potential not exhibit any local minima. We also address the problem of the initial conditions for both monotonic and non-monotonic inflationary potentials.
This paper provides a systematic study of supergravity contributions relevant for inflationary model building in Jordan frame supergravity. In this framework, canonical kinetic terms in the Jordan frame result in the separation of the Jordan frame scalar potential into a tree-level term and a supergravity contribution, which is potentially dangerous for sustaining inflation. We show that if the vacuum energy necessary for driving inflation originates dominantly from the F-term of an auxiliary field (i.e. not the inflaton), the supergravity corrections to the Jordan frame scalar potential are g…
We utilize a recently proposed cubic nilpotent superfield to realize inflation in supergravity with the minimal degrees of freedom: the inflaton, graviton, and massive gravitino. As an advantage, the resultant model is free from the catastrophic production of gravitinos due to its vanishing propagation speed. However, the model suffers from the standard gravitino problem, and its viability depends on the mass spectrum and the thermal history of the universe.
We study B_s --> mu+ mu- in the context of the R-parity violating minimal supergravity in the high tan beta regime. We find that the lowest value of the branching ratio can go well below the present LHCb sensitivity and hence B_s --> mu+ mu- can even be invisible to the LHC. We also find that the present upper bound on Br(B_s --> mu+ mu-) puts strong constraint on the minimal supergravity parameter space. The constraints become more severe if the upper bound is close to its standard model prediction.
This contribution begins the study of the complete superfield Lagrangian description of the interacting system of D=4 N=1 supergravity (SUGRA) and supermembrane. Firstly, we review a 'three form supergravity' by Ovrut and Waldram, which we prefer to call 'special minimal supergravity'. This off-shell formulation of simple SUGRA is appropriate for our purposes as the supermembrane action contains the so-called Wess-Zumino term given by the integral over a three form potential in superspace, C3. We describe this formulation in the frame of Wess--Zumino superfield approach, showing how the basic …
We consider an inflationary model in the hidden-sector broken supergravity with an effectively large cutoff. The inflaton decay into right-handed neutrinos naturally causes the observed baryon asymmetry of the universe with a reheating temperature low enough to avoid the gravitino overproduction. We emphasize that all the phenomenological requirements from cosmology and particle physics are satisfied in the large-cutoff theory.
We explore in the supergravity context the possibility that a Higgs scalar may drive inflation via a non-minimal coupling to gravity characterised by a large dimensionless coupling constant. We find that this scenario is not compatible with the MSSM, but that adding a singlet field (NMSSM, or a variant thereof) can very naturally give rise to slow-roll inflation. The inflaton is necessarily contained in the doublet Higgs sector and occurs in the D-flat direction of the two Higgs doublets.
We construct a class of textured supergravity unified SU(5) models using Planck scale corrections. We show that the texture constraints in the Higgs doublet sector are insufficient in general to fully determine the textures in the Higgs triplet sector. A classification of textured minimal parameter models is given and their Higgs triplet textures computed under the constraint that they possess the Georgi-Jarlskog textures in the Higgs doublet sector. It is argued that additional dynamical assumptions are needed to remove the ambiguity. The recently proposed extension of supergravity unification…
We show that models of chaotic inflation based on the phi^p potential and a linear non-minimal coupling to gravity, fR=1+cR phi, can be done consistent with data in the context of Supergravity, retaining the perturbative unitarity up to the Planck scale, if we employ logarithmic Kahler potentials with prefactors -p(1+n) or -p(n+1)-1, where -0.035<= n<=0.007 for p=2 or -0.0145<= n<=0.006 for p=4. Focusing, moreover, on a model employing a gauge non-singlet inflaton, we show that a solution to the mu problem of MSSM and baryogenesis via non-thermal leptogensesis can be also accommodated.
Realistic effective supergravity models have a variety of sources of lepton flavour violation (LFV) which can drastically affect the predictions relative to the scenarios usually considered in the literature based on minimal supergravity and the supersymmetric see-saw mechanism. We catalogue the additional sources of LFV which occur in realistic supergravity models including the effect of D-terms arising from an Abelian U(1) family symmetry, non-aligned trilinear contributions from scalar F-terms, as well as non-minimal supergravity contributions and the effect of different Yukawa textures. In…
Applying a likelihood analysis to the next-to-minimal supergravity-motivated model, we identify parameter space regions preferred by present experimental limits from collider, astrophysical, and low energy measurements. We then show that favored regions are amenable to detection by a combination of the CERN Large Hadron Collider and an upgraded Cryogenic Dark Matter Search, provided that the more than three sigma discrepancy in the difference of the experimental and the standard theoretical values of the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon prevails in the future.
The prospects at the CERN LHC are investigated for the discovery via decays into muon pairs of neutral Higgs bosons in the minimal supergravity model. Promising results are found for the CP-odd pseudoscalar ($A^0$) and the heavier CP-even scalar ($H^0$) Higgs bosons at large $\tanβ\equiv v_2/v_1$. For $\tanβ\agt 10$ and 100 GeV $\alt m_A,m_H \alt$ 550 GeV, the $A^0$ and the $H^0$ masses could be precisely reconstructed from the dimuon invariant mass.
We show that within the framework of the minimal $SU(5)$ supergravity model, radiatively-induced electroweak symmetry breaking and presently available experimental lower bounds on nucleon decay, impose severe constraints on the available parameter space of the model which correspond to fine-tuning of the model parameters of over two orders of magnitude. Furthermore, a straightforward calculation of the cosmic relic density of neutralinos ($χ$) gives $Ω_χh^2\gg1$ for most of the allowed parameter space in this model, although small regions may still be cosmologically acceptable. We finally disc…
We investigate, which lightest supersymmetric particles can be obtained via a non-vanishing lepton- or baryon-number violating operator at the grand unification scale within the R-parity violating minimal supergravity model. We employ the full one-loop renormalization group equations. We take into account restrictions from the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon and b -> s gamma, as well as collider constraints from LEP and the Tevatron. We also consider simple deformations of minimal supergravity models.
By choosing two typical input parameter points in the minimal supergravity (mSUGRA) model and using the QCD factorization (QCDF) approach, we studied the supersymmetric effects to the CP violation of the two-body charmless hadronic $B$ meson decays. We found that though the SUSY contributions can give large corrections to the CP asymmetries for some decay channels, they could not be distinguished experimentally from the SM values because of the large theoretical errors dominated by calculating the annihilation contributions in the QCDF approach.
Supersymmetric models with bilinear R-parity violation (BRPV) can account for the observed neutrino masses and mixing parameters indicated by neutrino oscillation data. We consider minimal supergravity versions of BRPV where the lightest supersymmetric particle (LSP) is a neutralino. This is unstable, with a large enough decay length to be detected at the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC). We analyse the LHC potential to determine the LSP properties, such as mass, lifetime and branching ratios, and discuss their relation to neutrino properties.
We study precise calculation of neutralino relic density in the minimal supergravity model. We compare the exact formula for the thermal average of the neutralino annihilation cross section times relative velocity with the expansion formula in terms of the temperature, including all the contributions to neutralino annihilation cross section analytically. We confirm that the expansion formula fails badly near s-channel poles. We show that the expansion method causes 5-10 % error even far away from the poles.
We have explored the electroweak phase transition in minimal supergravity models by extending previous analysis of the one-loop Higgs potential to include finite temperature effects. Minimal supergravity is characterized by two higgs doublets at the electroweak scale, gauge coupling unification, and universal soft-SUSY breaking at the unification scale. We have searched for the allowed parameter space that avoids washout of baryon number via unsuppressed anomalous Electroweak sphaleron processes after the phase transition. This requirement imposes strong constraints on the Higgs sector. With r…
We examine the phenomenology of minimal supergravity models, assuming only that the low energy theory has the minimal particle content, that electroweak symmetry is radiatively broken, and that R-parity is essentially conserved. After delineating regions of supergravity parameter space currently excluded by direct particle searches at LEP and the Tevatron, we quantify how this search region will be expanded when LEP~II and the Tevatron Main Injector upgrades become operational. We describe how various experimental analyses can be consistently combined within a single framework, resulting in a …
We consider the case where supersymmetry with broken R-parity is embedded in the minimal supergravity model (mSUGRA). This alters the standard mSUGRA spectrum and opens a wide range in parameter space, where the scalar tau is the lightest supersymmetric particle, instead of the lightest neutralino. We study the resulting LHC phenomenology. Promising signatures would be detached vertices from long-lived staus, multi lepton final states and multi-tau final states. We investigate in detail the corresponding cross sections and decay rates in characteristic benchmark scenarios.
We show that within the inverse seesaw mechanism for generating neutrino masses minimal supergravity is more likely to have a sneutrino as the lightest superparticle than the conventional neutralino. We also demonstrate that such schemes naturally reconcile the small neutrino masses with the correct relic sneutrino dark matter abundance and accessible direct detection rates in nuclear recoil experiments.
We consider the Minimal Supergravity Model with universality of scalar and gaugino masses plus an extra bilinear term in the superpotential which breaks R-Parity and lepton number. We explicitly check the consistency of this model with the radiative breaking of the electroweak symmetry. A neutrino mass is radiatively induced, and large Higgs-Lepton mixings are compatible with its experimental bound. We also study briefly the lightest Higgs mass. This one-parameter extension of SUGRA-MSSM is the simplest way of introducing R-parity violation.
We show that the minimal R-parity breaking model characterized by an effective bilinear violation of R-parity in the superpotential is consistent with minimal N=1 supergravity unification with radiative breaking of the electroweak symmetry and universal scalar and gaugino masses. This one-parameter extension of the MSSM-SUGRA model provides therefore the simplest reference model for the breaking of R-parity and constitutes a consistent truncation of the complete dynamical models with spontaneous R-parity breaking proposed previously. We comment on the lowest-lying CP-even Higgs boson mass and …
We study reheating processes and its cosmological consequences in the Starobinsky model embedded in the old-minimal supergravity. First, we consider minimal coupling between the gravity and matter sectors in the higher curvature theory, and transform it to the equivalent standard supergravity coupled to additional matter superfields. We then discuss characteristic decay modes of the inflaton and the reheating temperature $T_{\rm R}$. Considering a simple model of supersymmetry breaking sector, we estimate gravitino abundance from inflaton decay, and obtain limits on the masses of gravitino and…
It has been recently claimed that very large values of a universal soft mass term m_0 for sfermions and higgs bosons become natural when M_top is close to 175 GeV if tanβ\approx 10. We show that very large values of m_0 require accidental cancellations not guaranteed by experimental data or theoretical assumptions, and consequently an unnatural fine-tuning of the parameters.
The ansatz of vanishing A and B parameters eliminates CP violating complex phases in soft supersymmetry-breaking parameters of the minimal supersymmetric standard model, and thus provides a simple solution to the supersymmetry CP problem. Phenomenological implications of this ansatz are investigated in the framework of minimal supergravity. We show that electroweak symmetry breakdown occurs, predicting relatively large \tan β. The ansatz survives the Higgs mass bound as well as the b \to s γconstraint if the universal gaugino mass is larger than 300 GeV. We also find that the supersymmetric co…
We consider the minimal supergravity model (mSUGRA) with one additional R-parity violating operator at the GUT scale. The superparticles mass spectra at the weak scale are generally altered due to the presence of the R-parity violating coupling in the renormalization group equations. We show that a lepton number violating coupling at the GUT scale can lead to a sneutrino as the lightest supersymmetric particle (LSP) in a large region of parameter space consistent with the muon anomalous magnetic moment and other precision measurements. We also give characteristic collider signatures at the LHC…
In a Peccei-Quinn extension of supergravity the h --> γγdetection rate can be significantly enhanced due to the reduction of the total Higgs decay width. To assess the viability of various Peccei-Quinn extensions of minimal supergravity we perform a Bayesian analysis on three such scenarios. The main constraints on these models come from the currently observed Higgs boson like state by the Large Hadron Collider and from the WMAP observation of dark matter abundance. Our comparative study reveals that under these constraints the PQ violating scenarios with axino dark matter are clearly preferre…
We formulate $R^2$ pure supergravity as a scale invariant theory built only in terms of superfields describing the geometry of curved superspace. The standard supergravity duals are obtained in both "old" and "new" minimal formulations of auxiliary fields. These theories have massless fields in de Sitter space as they do in their non supersymmetric counterpart. Remarkably, the dual theory of $R^2$ supergravity in the new minimal formulation is an extension of the Freedman model, describing a massless gauge field and a massless chiral multiplet in de Sitter space, with inverse radius proportion…
Several parameters of the minimal supergravity model are estimated by the method of the renormalization group. In this model, five arbitrary parameters $(m_0, m_{1/2}, \tanβ, A_0, {sig}(μ))$ are contained. $\tanβ$ is evaluated as 7.5 by the likelihood analysis of the gauge and Yukawa coupling constants. Further, the trilinear coupling constant $A_0$ is fixed by the equation of $B_0=(A_0-1)m_0$ at the GUT scale $M_X \simeq 2\times10^{16}$(GeV) and by the Higgs potential at the Z-boson mass scale $M_Z=$91(GeV). As the results, (1) allowed $m_0-m_{1/2}$ regions, (2) the sparticle mass spectra, an…
We consider global issues in minimal supergravity models where a single field inflaton potential emerges. In a particular case we reproduce the Starobinsky model and its description dual to a certain formulation of R+R^2 supergravity. For definiteness we confine our analysis to spaces at constant curvature, either vanishing or negative. Five distinct models arise, two flat models with respectively a quadratic and a quartic potential and three based on the SU(1,1)/U(1) space where its distinct isometries, elliptic, hyperbolic and parabolic are gauged. Fayet-Iliopoulos terms are introduced in a …
It is pointed out that the gravitational particle production rate of a scalar component of a chiral superfield in supergravity with minimal Kahler potential can be significantly suppressed compared with a minimal scalar field in non-supersymmetric Einstein gravity. This suppression is avoided for some choice of the inflaton sector and also for non-minimal Kahler potential of the chiral superfield.
We investigate the effect of SUSY phases ($θ_A$ and $θ_μ$) on the $B^0_d - \bar{B}^0_d$ mixing in the minimal supergravity model. It is known that the complex phase $θ_A$ $=$ arg($A$) ($A$ is the universal coefficient of the trilinear scalar couplings) is essentially unconstrained by the electric dipole moment experiment, while the phase $θ_μ$ $=$ arg($μ$) ($μ$ is the supersymmetric Higgsino mass) is strongly constrained to zero. We found that $θ_A$ does not affect the phase of the $B^0_d - \bar{B}^0_d$ mixing matrix element $M_{12}(B)$ by numerical analysis of the renormalization group equati…
D-term inflation is one of the most interesting and versatile models of inflation. It is possible to implement naturally D-term inflation within high energy physics, as for example SUSY GUTs, SUGRA, or string theories. D-term inflation avoids the $η$-problem, while in its standard form it always ends with the formation of cosmic strings. Given the recent three-year WMAP data on the cosmic microwave background temperature anisotropies, we examine whether D-term inflation can be successfully implemented in non-minimal supergravity theories. We show that for all our choices of Kähler potential, t…
We study the stability of the Harrison-Perkins-Scott (HPS) mixing pattern, assumed to hold at some high energy scale, against supersymmetric radiative corrections. We work in the framework of a reference minimal supergravity model (mSUGRA) where supersymmetry breaking is universal and flavor-blind at unification. The radiative corrections considered include both RGE running as well as threshold effects. We find that in this case the solar mixing angle can only increase with respect to the HPS reference value, while the atmospheric and reactor mixing angles remain essentially stable. Deviations…
We evaluate the relic density of neutralinos in the minimal supergravity (mSUGRA) model. All 2->2 neutralino annihilation diagrams, as well as all initial states involving sleptons, charginos, neutralinos and third generation squarks are included. Relativistic thermal averaging of the velocity times cross sections is performed. We find that co-annihilation effects are only important on the edges of the model parameter space, where some amount of fine-tuning is necessary to obtain a reasonable relic density. Alternatively, at high tan(beta), annihilation through the broad Higgs resonances gives…
We calculate expected event rates for direct detection of relic neutralinos as a function of parameter space of the minimal supergravity model. Numerical results are presented for the specific case of a $^{73}$Ge detector. We find significant detection rates ($R> 0.01$ events/kg/day) in regions of parameter space most favored by constraints from $B\to X_sγ$ and the cosmological relic density of neutralinos. The detection rates are especially large in regions of large $\tanβ$, where many conventional signals for supersymmetry at collider experiments are difficult to detect. If the parameter $\t…
We study the constraint on the mass of the charged Higgs boson in the minimal supergravity model based on the recent measurement of the inclusive $b\rightarrow sγ$ decay. It is shown that the lower bound for the charged Higgs mass crucially depends on the sign of the higgsino mass parameter ($μ$). For $μ<0$, the bound exceeds 400 GeV when the ratio of two Higgs vacuum expectation values ($\tanβ$) is larger than 10. No strong bound is obtained for $μ>0$ due to cancellations between charged Higgs and supersymmetric particle contributions. For $3\lsim\tanβ\lsim5$, a charged Higgs lighter than 180…
Minimal hybrid inflation in supergravity has been ruled out by the 2015 Planck observations because the spectral index of the produced curvature perturbation falls outside observational bounds. To resurrect the model, a number of modifications have been put forward but many of them spoil the accidental cancellation that resolves the eta-problem and require complicated Kahler constructions to counterbalance the lost cancellation. In contrast, in this paper the model is rendered viable by supplementing the scenario with a brief period of thermal inflation, which follows the reheating of primordi…
We examine the stau-neutralino coannihilation (CA) mechanism of the early universe. We use the minimal supergravity (mSUGRA) model and show that from measurements at the Large Hadron Collider one can predict the dark matter relic density with an uncertainty of 6% with 30 fb-1 of data, which is comparable to the direct measurement by Wilkinson Microwave Anisotropy Probe. This is done by measuring four mSUGRA parameters m0, m1/2, A0 and tan(beta) without requiring direct measurements of the top squark and bottom squark masses. We also provide precision measurements of the gaugino, squark, and li…
Recently, refinements have been made on both the theoretical and experimental determinations of the i.) mass of the lightest Higgs scalar, ii.) relic density of cold dark matter in the universe, iii.) branching fraction for radiative B decay BF(b \to s γ), iv.) muon anomalous magnetic moment, and v.) flavor violating decay B_s \to μ^+μ^-. In this work, we present constraints from each of these quantities on the minimal supergravity model as embedded in the updated version of the computer program ISAJET v7.64. Improvements and updates since our published work are especially emphasized. The comb…
The constraint on the mass of the charged Higgs boson from the recent measurement of the inclusive $b \rightarrow s γ$ decay is studied in a framework of the minimal supergravity.
An analysis is given of the annual modulation signal for the direct detection of relic neutralinos within the framework of supergravity unified models. It is shown that both the minimal and the non-minimal SUGRA models can generate neutralino-proton cross-sections at the level compatible with the signals reported in the DAMA experiment at the Gran Sasso National Laboratory. Effects of proton stability on the analysis of the DAMA data in the minimal and the non-minimal SUGRA models are also discussed.
We propose a model of inflation based on a simple variant of the NMSSM, called $ϕ$NMSSM where the additional singlet $ϕ$ plays the role of the inflaton in hybrid (or inverted hybrid) type models. The $ϕ$NMSSM solves the $μ$ problem of the MSSM via the vacuum expectation value of the gauge singlet N, but also solves the strong CP problem through an approximate Peccei-Quinn symmetry. The potential energy which drives inflation originates from the F-term of the effective supergravity theory which result from a generic string theory. In the class of models considered the inflaton is protected from…
We explore the ability of the Tevatron to probe Minimal Supersymmetry with high energy scale boundary conditions motivated by supersymmetry breaking in the context of supergravity/superstring theory. A number of boundary condition possibilities are considered: dilaton-like string boundary conditions applied at the standard GUT unification scale or alternatively at the string scale; and extreme (``no-scale'') minimal supergravity boundary conditions imposed at the GUT scale or string scale. For numerous specific cases within each scenario the sparticle spectra are computed and then fed into ISA…
In anticipation of data from the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) and the potential discovery of supersymmetry, in this work we seek an answer to the following: What are the chances that supersymmetry will be found at the LHC? Will the LHC data be enough to discover a given supersymmetric model? And what other measurements can assist the LHC establish the presence of supersymmetry? As a step toward answering these general questions, we calculate the odds of the next-to-minimal version of the popular supergravity motivated model (NmSuGra) being discovered at the LHC to be 4:3 (57 %). We also demonst…
We explore the prospects for detection of sparticles and Higgs bosons at the Tevatron, LEP-200 and the LHC in the allowed parameter space of a `yukawa unified' ($λ_b(M_U)=λ_τ(M_U)$) minimal supergravity (YUMS) model, where the only non-zero unification scale soft-SUSY-breaking terms are a universal gaugino mass and a Higgs mixing term. In a bottom-up approach, just two weak scale parameters, $\tanb$ and $\mha$, (along with the sign of the Higgs mixing parameter $μ$) completely parameterize the model. Many interesting `special' situations regarding sparticle and Higgs discovery arise, such as t…
Recently, refinements have been made on both the theoretical and experimental determinations of the i.) mass of the lightest Higgs scalar (m_h), ii.) relic density of cold dark matter in the universe (Omega_CDM h^2), iii.) branching fraction for radiative B decay BF(b \to s γ), iv.) muon anomalous magnetic moment (a_μ), and v.) flavor violating decay B_s \to μ^+μ^-. Each of these quantities can be predicted in the MSSM, and each depends in a non-trivial way on the spectra of SUSY particles. In this paper, we present updated constraints from each of these quantities on the minimal supergravity …
We study higher order corrections in new minimal supergravity models of a single scalar field inflation. The gauging in these models leads to a massive vector multiplet and the D-term potential for the inflaton field with a coupling g^{2} ~ 10^{-10}. In the de-Higgsed phase with vanishing g^2, the chiral and vector multiplets are non-interacting, and the potential vanishes. We present generic manifestly supersymmetric higher order corrections for these models. In particular, for a supersymmetric gravity model -R+ R^2 we derive manifestly supersymmetric corrections corresponding to R^n. The dua…
Constraints on the common trilinear coupling constant $A_{0}$ are obtained in the minimal supergravity model. $A_{0}$ is usually given at GUT scale $M_{X}$ by-hand, and has been regarded as one of the five arbitrary parameters in this model. However, $B(M_{Z})$ as the common bilinear coupling constant $B$ at the electroweak scale $M_{Z} \simeq 91$(GeV) is fixed by the shape of the Higgs potential. With the renormalization group equations, this $B(M_{Z})$ is evolved to $B_{0}$ at $M_{X}$ where a well-known relation exists between the evolved $B_{0}$ and $A_{0}$ as $B_{0} = (A_{0}-1) m_{0}$. The…
We present a calculation of the branching ratio $\brbsg$ in two well motivated supersymmetric models: the minimal $SU(5)$ and the no-scale flipped $SU(5)$ supergravity models. We find that the improved CLEO upper bound ($\brbsg<5.4\times10^{-4}$ at 95\% CL) does not yet constrain the minimal $SU(5)$ supergravity model, where $\brbsg_{minimal}=(2.3-3.6)\times10^{-4}$. In the flipped $SU(5)$ model the CLEO bound is constraining, although still not very significantly, even for light charged Higgs masses. An improvement in sensitivity by a factor of two will probe all (more than half) of the param…
We extend the parameter space of minimal supergravity to negative values of m_0^2, the universal scalar mass parameter defined at the grand unified scale. After evolving to the weak scale, all scalars can be non-tachyonic with masses consistent with collider constraints. This region of parameter space is typically considered excluded by searches for charged dark matter, since the lightest standard model superpartner is a charged slepton. However, if the gravitino is the lightest supersymmetric particle, the charged slepton decays, and this region is allowed. This region provides qualitatively …
