This paper contains details of calculation of the surface wave excitation by a fast moving charged particle in a thin uniform metal film surrounded by a dielectic medium. Early on the effect was described in the paper arXiv:0911.0565 03 November 2009. It is shown that the Vavilov-Cherenkov like effect for the surface waves could arise for particles whose velocities are ten- and even hundred-times lower than the corresponding velocities in a uniform medium.

Radiative Recoil in the Vavilov-Cherenkov Effect with Excitation of Surface Plasmons

An effect that is an analogue to the Vavilov-Cherenkov effect in a uniform space would be observed in a space with a boundary of well reflecting light metal-dielectric. The main difference is in that quanta of some electron volt would be excited by an electron of energy of some tens of electron volts. This would become possible because the surface plasmon velocity is very small as compared with the velocity of waves of a uniform space. Beetwen excited plasmons there is a plasmon with a linear momentum as high as the doubled initial momentum of the electron.

On the properties of the phenomenon like Vavilov-Cherenkov one with emission of surface plasmons

The phenomenon is described that is an analogue of the Vavilov-Cherenkov phenomenon and that could be observable in a space with the boundary separated a well reflecting light metal and a dielectric. Quantum calculation of the Vavilov-Cherenkov radiation by twisted electrons

We present the detailed quantum electrodynamical description of Vavilov-Cherenkov radiation emitted by a relativistic twisted electron in the transparent medium. Simple expressions for the spectral and spectral-angular distributions as well as for the polarization properties of the emitted radiation are obtained. Unlike the plane-wave case, the twisted electron produces radiation within the annular angular region, with enhancement towards its boundaries. Proposal for the experimental observation of twisted photons in transition and Vavilov-Cherenkov radiations

We propose to use Vavilov-Cherenkov (VC) and transition radiations as a source of twisted photons in a wide range of energies. The experimental setup to observe the orbital angular momentum of photons constituting those radiations is described. The radiation produced by relativistic electrons and ions in passing dielectric plates is considered. The experimental verification of the addition rule for the total angular momentum in the radiation of twisted photons by helically microbunched beams is proposed for VC and transition radiations. The parameters of the experiments are presented.

The Vavilov-Cherenkov radiation by relict photon gas

Based on the new quantum Vavilov-Cherenkov,s radiation(VCR) theory (PRL,2004),it is stated the possibility of threshold realization in the modern epoch of the novel VCR effect by the relict photon gas, when it is traversed by relativistic particles of the cosmic rays with γ\geq γ_th \cong 2 \cdot 10^10, where γ^2 = 1 - \frac{V^2}{C^2}, v is the speed of particles, and c is the speed of the light in vacuum.

Probability of radiation of twisted photons in an inhomogeneous isotropic dispersive medium

The general formula for probability to record a twisted photon produced by a charged particle moving in an inhomogeneous isotropic dispersive medium is derived.
