A relationship between Painleve systems and infinite-dimensional integrable hierarchies is studied. We derive a class of higher order Painleve systems from Drinfeld-Sokolov (DS) hierarchies of type A by similarity reductions. This result allows us to understand some properties of Painleve systems, Hamiltonian structures, Lax pairs and affine Weyl group symmetries.

Incarnations of XXX $\widehat{\frak{sl}_N}$ Bethe ansatz equations and integrable hierarchies

We consider the space of solutions of the Bethe ansatz equations of the $\widehat{\frak{sl}_N}$ XXX quantum integrable model, associated with the trivial representation of $\widehat{\frak{sl}_N}$. We construct a family of commuting flows on this space and identify the flows with the flows of coherent rational Ruijesenaars-Schneider systems. For that we develop in full generality the spectral transform for the rational Ruijesenaars-Schneider system.

A geometric construction of integrable Hamiltonian hierarchies associated with the classical affine W-algebras

A class of classical affine W-algebras are shown to be isomorphic as differential algebras to the coordinate rings of double coset spaces of certain prounipotent proalgebraic groups. As an application, integrable Hamiltonian hierarchies associated with them are constructed geometrically, generalizing the corresponding result of Feigin-Frenkel and Enriquez-Frenkel for the principal cases.

Bosonizations of $\widehat{\mathfrak{sl}}_2$ and Integrable Hierarchies

We construct embeddings of $\widehat{\mathfrak{sl}}_2$ in lattice vertex algebras by composing the Wakimoto realization with the Friedan-Martinec-Shenker bosonization. The Kac-Wakimoto hierarchy then gives rise to two new hierarchies of integrable, non-autonomous, non-linear partial differential equations. A new feature of our construction is that it works for any value of the central element of $\widehat{\mathfrak{sl}}_2$; that is, the level becomes a parameter in the equations.

Generalized Hirota bilinear identity and integrable q-difference and lattice hierarchies.

Hirota bilinear identity for Cauchy-Baker-Akhieser (CBA) kernel is introduced as a basic tool to construct integrable hierarchies containing lattice and q-difference times. Determinant formula for the action of meromorphic function on CBA kernel is derived. This formula gives opportunity to construct generic solutions for integrable lattice equations.

Hilbert schemes, integrable hierarchies, and Gromov-Witten theory

Various equivariant intersection numbers on Hilbert schemes of points on the affine plane are computed, some of which are organized into tau-functions of 2-Toda hierarchies. A correspondence between the equivariant intersection on Hilbert schemes and stationary Gromov-Witten theory is established.

Integrable Hierarchies and Wakimoto Modules

In our earlier papers we proposed a new approach to integrable hierarchies of soliton equations and their quantum deformations. We have applied this approach to the Toda field theories and the generalized KdV and modified KdV (mKdV) hierarchies. In this paper we apply our approach to the Ablowitz-Kaup-Newell-Segur (AKNS) hierarchy and its generalizations. In particular, we show that the free field (Wakimoto) realization of an affine algebra naturally appears in the context of the generalized AKNS hierarchies.
