The problem of the reflectance of a photon by a metallic mirror whose position is treated quantum mechanically is considered. The interaction between the metallic surface and the light is treated classically. It is shown that the reflectance depends on the spread of the wavefunction describing the reflecting surface along its normal. Considering this decrease on the mirror reflectance, it is shown by first principles that it is impossible to achieve a highly entangled state between a photon and a mirror when the photon can be reflected only once.
Excitons in a semiconductor monolayer form a collective resonance that can reflect resonant light with extraordinarily high efficiency. Here, we investigate the nonlinear optical properties of such atomistically thin mirrors and show that finite-range interactions between excitons can lead to the generation of highly non-classical light. We describe two scenarios, in which optical nonlinearities arise either from direct photon coupling to excitons in excited Rydberg states or from resonant two-photon excitation of Rydberg excitons with finite-range interactions. The latter case yields conditio…
While the levitating mirror has seen renewed interest lately, relatively little is known about its quantum behaviour. In this paper we present a quantum theory of a one dimensional levitating mirror. The mirror forms a part of a Fabry-Perot cavity where the circulating intracavity field supports the mirror through radiation pressure alone. We find a blue and red detuned steady-state of which only the blue detuned solution with damping on the mirror and cavity is stable. We find strong entanglement (15-20 ebits) between the mirror output and cavity output and squeezing in the mirror position.
Mirror-Field Entanglement in a Microscopic model for Quantum Optomechanics
我们使用Galley,Behunin和Hu [Phys. Rev.

The local observables of the quantised electromagnetic field near a mirror-coated interface depend strongly on the properties of the media on {\em both} sides. In macroscopic quantum electrodynamics, this fact is taken into account with the help of optical Green's functions which correlate the position of an observer with all other spatial positions and photon frequencies. Here we present an alternative, more intuitive approach and obtain the local field observables with the help of a quantum mirror image detector method [Furtak-Wells et al., Phys. Rev. A 97, 043827 (2018)]. In order to correc…
We investigate the effect of time-dependent boundary conditions on the dynamics of a quantum bouncer -- a particle falling in a homogeneous gravitational field on a moving mirror. We examine more particularly the way a moving mirror modifies the properties of the entire wavefunction of a falling particle. We find that some effects, such as the fact that a quantum particle hitting a moving mirror may bounce significantly higher than when the mirror is fixed, are in line with classical intuition. Other effects, such as the change in relative phases or in the current density in spatial regions ar…
Motivated by the fact that the null-shell of a collapsing black hole can be described by a perfectly reflecting accelerating mirror, we investigate an extension of this model to mirror semi-transparency and derive a general implicit expression for the corresponding Bogoliubov coefficients. Then, we turn this into an explicit analytical form by focusing on mirrors that are accelerated via an impulsive force. From the so-obtained Bogoliubov coefficients we derive the particle production. Finally, we realize the field coming from left-past spacetime region, passing through the semitransparent mov…
Quantum tomography is an essential experimental tool for testing any quantum technology implementations. Transverse spatial quantum states of light play a key role in many experiments in the field of quantum information as well as in free-space optical communications. In this letter we propose and experimentally demonstrate the tomography of spatial quantum states with a deformable mirror. It may be used to significantly outperform the conventional method with a spatial light modulator (SLM) in terms of speed and efficiency, at the same time providing polarization insensitive operation.
The efficient excitation of quantum sources such as quantum dots or single molecules requires high NA optics which is often a challenge in cryogenics, or in ultrafast optics. Here we propose a 3.2 um wide parabolic mirror, with a 0.8 um focal length, fabricated by direct laser writing on CdSe/CdS colloidal quantum dots, capable of focusing the excitation light to a sub-wavelength spot and to extract the generated emission by collimating it into a narrow beam. This mirror is fabricated via in-situ volumetric optical lithography, which can be aligned to individual emitters, and it can be easily …
We find the quantum power emitted and distribution in $3+1$-dimensions of relativistic acceleration radiation using a single perfectly reflecting mirror via Lorentz invariance demonstrating close analogies to point charge radiation in classical electrodynamics.
Dynamical quantum phase transitions (DQPTs) are topologically characterized in quantum quench dynamics in topological systems. In this paper, we study Loschmidt amplitudes and DQPTs in quantum quenches in mirror-symmetric topological phases. Based on the topological classification of mirror-symmetric insulators, we show that mirror symmetry creates symmetry-protected DQPTs. If mirror symmetry is present, topologically robust DQPTs can occur in quantum quenches, even in high-dimensional time-reversal invariant systems. Then, we also show that symmetry-protected DQPTs occur in quenches in two-di…
