Dark matter annihilation is one of the leading explanations for the recently observed $e^\pm$ excesses in cosmic rays by PAMELA, ATIC, FERMI-LAT and HESS. Any dark matter annihilation model proposed to explain these data must also explain the fact that PAMELA data show excesses only in $e^\pm$ spectrum but not in anti-proton. It is interesting to ask whether the annihilation mode into anti-proton is completely disallowed or only suppressed at low energies. Most models proposed have negligible anti-protons in all energy ranges. We show that the leptocentric $U(1)_{B-3L_i}$ dark matter model can explain the $e^\pm$ excesses with suppressed anti-proton mode at low energies, but at higher energies there are sizable anti-proton excesses. Near future data from PAMELA and AMS can provide crucial test for this type of models. Cosmic $γ$ ray data can further rule out some of the models. We also show that this model has interesting cosmic neutrino signatures.
The Pierre Auger Collaboration has reported an excess in the number of muons of a few tens of percent over expectations computed using extrapolation of hadronic interaction models tuned to accommodate LHC data. Very recently, we proposed an explanation for the muon excess assuming the formation of a deconfined quark matter (fireball) state in central collisions of ultrarelativistic cosmic rays with air nuclei. At the first stage of its evolution the fireball contains gluons as well as $u$ and $d$ quarks. The very high baryochemical potential inhibits gluons from fragmenting into $u \bar u$ and…
Study of the neutrino-oxygen cross sections of the charged-current reaction 16O($\barν_e,e^+$)16N(0 MeV,$2^-$) and the neutral-current reaction 16O($ν,ν$')16O(12.97/12.53 MeV,$2^-$), producing high-energy gamma rays
Cold dark matter subhalos are expected to populate galaxies in numbers. If dark matter self-annihilates, these objects turn into prime targets for indirect searches, in particular with gamma-ray telescopes. Incidentally, the Fermi-LAT catalog already contains many unidentified sources that might be associated with subhalos. In this paper, we determine the probability for subhalos to be identified as gamma-ray pointlike sources from their predicted distribution properties. We use a semi-analytical model for the Galactic subhalo population, which, in contrast to cosmological simulations, can be …
Secondary astrophysical production of $e^+$ and $\bar{p}$ cosmic rays is considered. Inclusive $π$, $K$, and $\bar{p}$ production cross sections in $pp$ collisions at large $\sqrt{s}$ are parametrised using recent experimental data at LHC energies. The astrophysical production rate ratio $Q_{e^+}/Q_{\bar{p}}$ is calculated for an input cosmic ray proton flux consistent with local measurements. At $10<E<100$$\sim$GeV the cosmic ray flux ratio $J_{e^+}/J_{\bar{p}}$ measured by AMS02 falls below the production rate ratio by about 50\%, while at high energy $E>100$$\sim$GeV the measured flux ratio…
We consider self-annihilation of dark matter, $χ$, into metastable mediators, $Y$, and their subsequent decay into photons inside white dwarfs. We focus on reactions of the type $χ\barχ\rightarrow YY$, where mediators, besides having a finite decay lifetime at rest $τ_{\rm rest}\lesssim 1$ s, may suffer energy loss in the medium before they decay into photons, $Y \rightarrow γγ$. We obtain attenuated gamma-ray luminosities arising from the combination of both effects. Using complementary sets of astrophysical measurements from cold white dwarfs in the M4 globular cluster as well as direct/indi…
The Pythia event generator is used in several contexts to study hadron and lepton interactions, notably $pp$ and $p\bar{p}$ collisions. In this article we extend the hadronic modelling to encompass the collision of a wide range of hadrons $h$ with either a proton or a neutron, or with a simplified model of nuclear matter. To this end we model $hp$ total and partial cross sections as a function of energy, and introduce new parton distribution functions for a wide range of hadrons, as required for a proper modelling of multiparton interactions. The potential usefulness of the framework is illust…
The propagation of gamma-rays over cosmological distances is the subject of extensive theoretical and observational research at GeV and TeV energies. The mean free path of gamma-rays in the cosmic web is limited above 100 GeV due to the production of electrons and positrons on the cosmic optical and infrared backgrounds. Electrons and positrons cool in the intergalactic medium while gyrating in its magnetic fields, which could cause either its global heating or the production of lower-energy secondary gamma-rays. The energy distribution of gamma-rays surviving the cosmological journey carries …
[Abridged] Indirect detection of dark matter (DM) by multi-wavelength astronomical observations provides a promising avenue for probing the particle nature of DM. In the case of DM consisting of Weakly-Interacting Massive Particles (WIMPs), self-annihilation ultimately produces observable products including $e^{\pm}$ pairs and gamma rays. The gamma rays can be detected directly, while the $e^{\pm}$ pairs can be detected by radio emission from synchrotron radiation or X-rays and soft gamma rays from inverse Compton scattering. An intriguing region to search for astrophysical signs of DM is the …
The substructures of the Galactic dark matter halo such as dark matter subhalos and dwarf galaxies have very low velocity dispersions, which makes them useful in constraining the scenario of Sommerfeld-enhanced dark matter annihilation. We calculate the velocity distribution of dark matter particles in dark matter halo substructures using the Eddington's formula with NFW density profile. We parametrize the effect of Sommerfeld enhancement of s-wave dark matter annihilation on the gamma-ray flux as the Sommerfeld-enhanced J-factors, and explicitly calculate their values for 15 known dwarf spher…

我们研究了非粒子物理学对遗迹中微子湮灭的影响,中微子被认为是超高能宇宙线事件的主要来源,产生了一系列光子和带电粒子。计算了非粒子交换对$ν\barν\toγγ$和$ν\barν\to f \bar f$散射截面的贡献。
As a quark and an antiquark cannot be isolated, the intrinsic motion of a composite $q \bar q$ system in its lowest-energy states lies predominantly in 1+1 dimensions, as in an open string with the quark and the antiquark at its two ends. Accordingly, we study the lowest-energy states of an open string $q\bar q$ system in QCD and QED in 1+1 dimensions. We show that $π^0, η$, and $η'$ can be adequately described as open string $q\bar q$ QCD mesons. By extrapolating into the $q\bar q$ QED sector in which a quark and an antiquark interact with the QED interaction, we find an open string isoscalar…
