One spin excitation states are involved in the transmission of quantum states and entanglement through a quantum spin chain, the localization properties of these states are crucial to achieve the transfer of information from one extreme of the chain to the other. We investigate the bipartite entanglement and localization of the one excitation states in a quantum $XX$ chain with one impurity. The bipartite entanglement is obtained using the Concurrence and the localization is analyzed using the inverse participation ratio. Changing the strength of the exchange coupling of the impurity allows us to control the number of localized or extended states. The analysis of the inverse participation ratio allows us to identify scenarios where the transmission of quantum states or entanglement can be achieved with a high degree of fidelity. In particular we identify a regime where the transmission of quantum states between the extremes of the chain is executed in a short transmission time $\sim N/2$, where $N$ is the number of spins in the chain, and with a large fidelity.
The effects of boundary impurities on the entanglement entropy in an antiferromagnetic Heisenberg opened spin-$1/2$ chain are investigated. The method of density-matrix renormalization-group is used to obtain the bipartite entanglement. The entropy increases when the length of the subsystem increases. It will approach to a constant when system length is very large. With the same impurity interaction, qutrit impurities of spin-$1$ can increase the entanglement entropy.
We study the local thermal entanglement in a spin-1/2 Ising-$XXZ$ diamond structure with two impurities. In this spin chain, we have the two impurities with an isolated $XXZ$ dimer between them. We focus on the study of the thermal entanglement in this dimer. The main goal of this paper is to provide a good understanding of the effect of impurities in the entanglement of the model. This model is exactly solved by a rigorous treatment based on the transfer-matrix method. Our results show that the entanglement can be tuned by varying the impurities parameters in this system. In addition, it is s…
In an interacting continuous time quantum walk, while the walker (the cursor) is moving on a graph, computational primitives (unitary operators associated with the edges) are applied to ancillary qubits (the register). The model with one walker was originally proposed by R. Feynman, who thus anticipated many features of the Continuous Time Quantum Walk (CTWQ) computing paradigm. In this note we examine the behaviour of an interacting CTQW with two walkers and examine the interaction of the walkers with noncommuting primitives. We endow such a walk with a notion of trajectory, in the sense of s…
We provide a theoretical set up for studying the dynamics in quantum spin chain models with inhomogeneous two-body interaction. We frame in our formalism models that can be mapped into a fermion system with a quadratic Hamiltonian. Local and global existence results of the dynamics are discussed.
The impurities of exchange couplings, external magnetic fields and Dzyaloshinskii--Moriya (DM) interaction considered as Gaussian distribution, the entanglement in one-dimensional random $XY$ spin systems is investigated by the method of solving the different spin-spin correlation functions and the average magnetization per spin. The entanglement dynamics at central locations of ferromagnetic and antiferromagnetic chains have been studied by varying the three impurities and the strength of DM interaction. (i) For ferromagnetic spin chain, the weak DM interaction can improve the amount of entan…
Numerical and analytic results have been used to characterize quantum transport in spin chains, showing the existence of both ballistic and diffusive motion. Experiments have shown that heat transfer is surprisingly always diffusive. The scattering from phonons and impurities have been postulated to be the two factors critical in causing the diffusive transport. In this work, we evaluate the transport process by incorporating a bath of phonons and impurities in order to understand the role played by each of the factors. While methods like time-dependent density matrix renormalization group (tD…
The ability to transfer quantum information from one location to another with high fidelity is of central importance to quantum information science. Unfortunately for the simplest system of a uniform chain (a spin chain or a particle in a one-dimensional lattice), the state transfer time grows exponentially in the chain length $N$ at fixed fidelity. In this work we show that the addition of an impurity near each endpoint, coupled to the uniform chain with strength $w$, is sufficient to ensure efficient and high-fidelity state transfer. An eigenstate localized in the vicinity of the impurity ca…
We use a noisy signal with finite correlation time to drive a spin (dissipative impurity) in the quantum XY spin chain and calculate the dynamics of entanglement entropy of a bipartition of spins, for a stochastic quantum trajectory. We compute the noise averaged entanglement entropy of a bipartition of spins and observe that its speed of spreading decreases at strong dissipation, as a result of the Zeno effect. We recover the Zeno crossover and show that noise averaged entanglement entropy can be used as a proxy for the heating and Zeno regimes. Upon increasing the correlation time of the noi…
Spin chains are promising media for short-haul quantum communication. Their usefulness is manifested in all those situations where stationary information carriers are involved. In the majority of the communication schemes relying on quantum spin chains, the latter are assumed to be finite in length, with well addressable end-chain spins. In this paper we propose that such configuration could actually be achieved by a mechanism that is able to effectively cut a spin ring through the insertion of bond defects. We then show how suitable physical quantities can be identified as figures of merit fo…
The entanglement in one-dimensional random XY spin systems where the impurities of exchange couplings and the external magnetic fields are considered as random variables is investigated by solving the different spin-spin correlation functions and the average magnetization per spin. The entanglement dynamics near particular locations of the system is also studied when the exchange couplings (or the external magnetic fields) satisfy three different distributions(the Gaussian distribution, double-Gaussian distribution, and bimodal distribution). We find that the entanglement can be controlled by …
We investigate the entanglement properties of the Kondo spin chain when it is prepared in its ground state as well as its dynamics following a single bond quench. We show that a true measure of entanglement such as negativity enables to characterize the unique features of the gapless Kondo regime. We determine the spatial extent of the Kondo screening cloud and propose an ansatz for the ground state in the Kondo regime accessible to this spin chain; we also demonstrate that the impurity spin is indeed maximally entangled with the Kondo cloud. We exploit these features of the entanglement in th…
In this paper, we investigate how two on-side doped impurities with net magnetic moments in an edge chain of a zigzag phosphorene nanoribbon~(zPNR) can be entangled by scattering of the traveling edge-state electrons. To this end, in the first step, we employ the Lippmann-Schwinger equation as well as the Green's function approach to study the scattering of the free traveling electrons from two magnetic impurities in a one-dimensional tight-binding chain. Then, following the same formalism, that is shown that the behavior of two on-side spin impurities in the edge chain of a zPNR in responding…
Quantum state transfer in the presence of noise is one of the main challenges in building quantum computers. We compare the quantum state transfer properties for two classes of qubit chains under the influence of static randomness. In fully engineered chains all nearest-neighbor couplings are tuned in such a way that a single-qubit state can be transferred perfectly between the ends of the chain, while in boundary-controlled chains only the two couplings between the transmitting and receiving qubits and the remainder of the chain can be optimized. We study how the noise in the couplings affect…
We present several protocols for reliable quantum state transfer through a spin chain. We use a simple two-spin encoding to achieve a remarkably high fidelity transfer for an arbitrary quantum state. The fidelity of the transfer also decreases very slowly with increasing chain length. We find that we can also increase the reliability by taking advantage of a local memory and/or confirm transfer using a second spin-chain.
We study the phase-diagram of a parity and time-reversal (PT) symmetric tight-binding chain with $N$ sites and hopping energy $J$, in the presence of two impurities with imaginary potentials $\pm iγ$ located at arbitrary (P-symmetric) positions $(m, \bar{m}=N+1-m)$ on the chain where $m\leq N/2$. We find that except in the two special cases where impurities are either the farthest or the closest, the PT-symmetric region - defined as the region in which all energy eigenvalues are real - is algebraically fragile. We analytically and numerically obtain the critical impurity potential $γ_{PT}$ and…

We unravel the periodically driven dynamics of two repulsively interacting bosonic impurities within a bosonic bath upon considering either the impact of a finite pulse or a continuous shaking of the impurities harmonic trap. Following a pulse driving of initially miscible components we reveal a variety of dynamical response regimes depending on the driving frequency. At resonant drivings the impurities decouple from their host while if exposed to a high frequency driving they remain trapped in the bosonic gas. For continuous shaking we showcase that in the resonantly driven regime the impurit…
We demonstrate that identical impurities immersed in a two-dimensional many-particle bath can be viewed as flux-tube-charged-particle composites described by fractional statistics. In particular, we find that the bath manifests itself as an external magnetic flux tube with respect to the impurities, and hence the time-reversal symmetry is broken for the effective Hamiltonian describing the impurities. The emerging flux tube acts as a statistical gauge field after a certain critical coupling. This critical coupling corresponds to the intersection point between the quasiparticle state and the ph…
We study the possibility of realizing perfect quantum state transfer in mesoscopic devices. We discuss the case of the Fano-Anderson model extended to two impurities. For a channel with an infinite number of degrees of freedom, we obtain coherent behavior in the case of strong coupling or in weak coupling off-resonance. For a finite number of degrees of freedom, coherent behavior is associated to weak coupling and resonance conditions.
We unravel the nonequilibrium dynamics of two fermionic impurities immersed in a one-dimensional bosonic gas following an interspecies interaction quench from weak to strong repulsions. Monitoring the temporal evolution of the single-particle density of each species we reveal the existence of four distinct dynamical regimes. For weak interspecies repulsions both species either perform a breathing motion or the impurity density splits into two parts which interact and disperse within the bosonic cloud. Turning to strong interactions we observe the formation of dark-bright states within the mean…
