We calculate the cross section of inclusive direct J/psi photoproduction at next-to-leading order within the factorization formalism of nonrelativistic quantum chromodynamics, for the first time including the full relativistic corrections due to the intermediate ^1S_0^[8], ^3S_1^[8], and ^3P_J^[8] color-octet states. A comparison of our results to recent H1 data suggests that the color octet mechanism is indeed realized in J/psi photoproduction, although the predictivity of our results still suffers from uncertainties in the color-octet long-distance matrix elements.
The LHCb has reported the observation of a resonancelike structure, the Pc(4450), in the J/psi p invariant masses. In our work, we discuss the feasibility of detecting this structure in J/psi photoproduction, e.g. in the measurements that have been approved for the experiments in Hall A/C and in Hall B with CLAS12 at JLab. Also the GlueX Collaboration has already reported preliminary results. We take into account the experimental resolution effects, and perform a global fit to world J/psi photoproduction data in order to study the possibility of observing the Pc(4450) signal in future JLab dat…
We study the inclusive J/psi production at large transverse momenta at lepton-hadron colliders in the limit when the exchange photon is quasi real, also referred to as photoproduction. Our computation includes the leading-P_T leading-v next-to-leading alpha_s corrections. In particular, we consider the contribution from J/psi plus another charm quark, by employing for the first time in quarkonium photoproduction the variable-flavour-number scheme. We also include a QED-induced contribution via an off-shell photon which remained ignored in the literature and which we show to be the leading cont…
On theoretical uncertainty of color dipole phenomenology in the J/Psi and Upsilon photoproduction in pA and AA collisions at the CERN Large Hadron Collider
We revisit inclusive J/psi and Upsilon photoproduction at lepton-hadron colliders, namely in the limit when the exchanged photon is quasi real. Our computation includes the next-to-leading-order (NLO) alpha_s corrections to the leading-order contributions in v. Similarly to the case of NLO charmonium-hadroproduction processes, the resulting cross sections obtained in the MS-bar factorisation scheme are sometimes found to be negative. We show that the scale-fixing criteria which we derived in a previous study of eta(c) production successfully solves this problem from the EicC all the way up to …
In this contribution, we study the inclusive and diffractive $η_{c}$ photoproduction in $pp$ and $pPb$ ultra-peripheral collisions (UPC's) at the LHC Run 2 energies. The quarkonium production is studied using nonrelativistic quantum chromodynamics (NRQCD) formalism. We present predictions for rapidity and transverse momentum distributions for the $η_c$ photoproduction and present our estimate for the total cross sections at the Run 2 energies.
We investigate the properties of the hidden charm pentaquark-like resonances first observed by LHCb in 2015, by measuring the polarization transfer KLL between the incident photon and the outgoing proton in the exclusive photoproduction of J/psi near threshold. We present a first estimate of the sensitivity of this observable to the pentaquark photocouplings and hadronic branching ratios, and extend our predictions to the case of initial state helicity correlation ALL, using a polarized target. These results serve as a benchmark for the SBS experiment at Jefferson Lab, which proposes to measur…
At forward rapidities and high energies we expect to probe the non-linear regime of Quantum Chromodynamics (QCD). One of the most promising observables to constrain the QCD dynamics in this regime is exclusive vector meson photoproduction (EVMP). We study the EVMP in association with a leading baryon (product of the proton dissociation) in photon-hadron interactions that take place in $pp$ and $p$Pb collisions at large impact parameters. We present the rapidity distributions for $ρ$ and $J/ψ$ photoproduction in association with a leading baryon (neutron and delta states) at LHC run 2 energies.…
Although the Odderon is an unambiguous prediction of Quantum Chromodynamics, its existence still was not confirmed experimentally. One of the processes where the Odderon contribution is expected to be dominant is the diffractive photoproduction of tensor mesons. In this paper we study the diffractive $f_2(1270)$ photoproduction in $pA$ collisions at LHC and RHIC considering the model of the stochastic vacuum to treat the non - perturbative process. We demonstrate that this process dominates the $f_2$ production at mid - rapidities, and large values for the cross section are predicted. Our resu…
