Events with isolated leptons and missing energy in the final state are known to be signatures of new physics phenomena at high energy collider physics facilities. Standard model (SM) sources of isolated trilepton final states include gauge boson pair production such as WZ and W gamma^{*}, and t-bar t production. Symbol gamma^* represents a virtual photon. Our new contribution is the demonstration that bottom and charm meson decays, b to l X and c to l X$, produce isolated lepton (l) events that can overwhelm the effects of other processes. We compute contributions from a wide range of SM heavy flavor processes. In all these cases, one or more of the final observed isolated leptons comes from a heavy flavor decay. We propose new cuts to control the heavy flavor backgrounds in the specific case of chargino plus neutralino pair production in supersymmetric models.
Events with three or more isolated leptons in the final state are known to be signatures of new physics phenomena at high energy collider physics facilities. Standard model sources of isolated trilepton final states include gauge boson pair production such as $WZ$ and $Wγ^*$, and $t\bar{t}$ production. We demonstrate that leptons from heavy flavor decays, such as $b \to lX$ and $c \to lX$, provide sources of trileptons that can be orders-of-magnitude larger after cuts than other standard model backgrounds to new physics processes. We explain the physical reason heavy flavor backgrounds survive…
We present a detailed investigation to establish that lepton-number (L) violating supersymmetry (SUSY) can be effectively probed at the LHC in the practically background-free same-sign trilepton (SS3l) and same-sign four-lepton (SS4l) channels. With this in view, we extend our earlier analysis of SS3l and SS4l signals by considering situations based on minimal supergravity as well as a phenomenological SUSY model. We find that the R-parity violating scenario predicts large event rates, for both the 7 and 14 TeV runs. Furthermore, we show that it is extremely unlikely to ever achieve similar ra…
We determine the Tevatron's reach in supersymmetric parameter space in trilepton, like-sign dilepton, and dilepton plus tau-jet channels, taking all relevant backgrounds into account. We show results for the minimal supergravity model. With a standard set of cuts we find that the previously unaccounted for $Wγ^\ast$ background is larger than all other backgrounds combined. We include cuts on the dilepton invariant mass and the $W$-boson transverse mass to reduce the $Wγ^\ast$ background to a reasonable level. We optimize cuts at each point in supersymmetry parameter space in order to maximize …
Littlest Higgs model with T-parity and Minimal Supersymmtric standard Model with R-parity both give similar signatures in collider experiment with a huge amount of missing energy depending upon mass of the lightest T-odd/R-odd particle. In this talk, I will discuss possibility of distinguishing the two models at the LHC in hadronically quiet signal where masses of R-odd particles are identical to masses of T-odd particles.
We study direct production of charginos and neutralinos at the CERN Large Hadron Collider. We simulate all channels of chargino and neutralino production using ISAJET 7.07. The best mode for observing such processes appears to be $pp\to\tw_1\tz_2\to 3\ell +\eslt$. We evaluate signal expectations and background levels, and suggest cuts to optimize the signal. The trilepton mode should be viable provided $m_{\tg}\alt 500-600$~GeV; above this mass, the decay modes $\tz_2\to\tz_1 Z$ and $\tz_2\to H_{\ell}\tz_1$ become dominant, spoiling the signal. In the first case, the leptonic branching fractio…
Within a wide class of models, the LEP2 lower limit of 95 GeV on the chargino mass implies gluinos are heavier than $\sim$300 GeV. In this case electroweak $\tw_1\twb_1$ and $\tw_1\tz_2$ production are the dominant SUSY processes at the Tevatron, and the extensively examined isolated trilepton signal from $\tw_1\tz_2$ production assumes an even greater importance. We update our previous calculations of the SUSY reach of luminosity upgrades of the Fermilab Tevatron in this channel incorporating ({\it i}) decay matrix elements in the computation of the momenta of leptons from chargino and neutra…
We investigate the parameter space of the minimal supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM) where the gluino and squark masses are much above 1 TeV but the remaining part of the sparticle spectrum is accessible to the Large Hadron Collider at CERN. After pointing out that such a scenario may constitute an important benchmark of gaugino/scalar non-universality, we find that hadronically quiet trileptons are rather useful signals for it. Regions of the parameter space, where the signal is likely to be appreciable, are identified through a detailed scan. The advantage of hadronically quiet trileptons …
We determine the Tevatron's reach in supersymmetric parameter space in trilepton, like-sign dilepton, and two lepton one tau-jet channels. We critically study the standard model background processes. We find larger backgrounds and, hence, significantly smaller reach regions than recent analyses. We identify the major cause of the background discrepancy. We improve signal-to-noise by introducing an invariant mass cut which takes advantage of a sharp edge in the signal dilepton invariant mass distribution. Also, we independently vary the cuts at each point in SUSY parameter space to determine th…
We propose a new mass reconstruction technique for SUSY processes at the LHC. The idea is to completely solve the kinematics of the SUSY cascade decay by using the assumption that the selected events satisfy the same mass shell conditions of the sparticles involved in the cascade decay. Using this technique, we study the measurement of the mass of the bottom squarks in the cascade decay of the gluino. Based on the final state including two high p_T leptons and two b-jets, we investigate different possible approaches to the mass reconstruction of the gluino and the two bottom squarks. In partic…
We revisit the existing limits on the gaugino masses in various Supersymmetric (SUSY) scenarios derived from Run-I data of the LHC. These limits obtained from the various final states rely heavily on the simplified assumptions regarding the masses, compositions and decay branching ratios of the gauginos. The most promising exclusion limits on the gaugino masses are obtained from trilepton final states while the second lightest neutralino ($\widetilde χ_2^0$) decaying into the SM-like Higgs and lightest SUSY particle (LSP) results in the weakest bounds. Our aim is to assess the extent of deviat…
These lectures, given at the 1997 TASI Summer School, describe the prospects for discovering supersymmetry (SUSY) and for studying its properties at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN. If SUSY exists at a mass scale less than 1--2 TeV, then it should be easy to observe characteristic deviations from the Standard Model at the LHC. It is more difficult to determine SUSY masses because in most models there are two missing particles \tildeχ_1^0 in every event. However, it is possible to use various kinematic distributions to make precision measurements of combinations of SUSY masses and other…
We calculate the SUSY-QCD corrections to the inclusive total cross sections of the associated production processes $pp\to W^{\pm}H^{\mp}+X$ in the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model(MSSM) at the CERN Large Hadron Collider(LHC). The SUSY-QCD corrections can increase and decrease the total cross sections depending on the choice of the SUSY parameters. When $μ<0$ the SUSY-QCD corrections increase the leading-order (LO) total cross sections significantly for large tan$β$ ($\sim 40$), which can exceed 10% and have the opposite sign with respect to the QCD and the SUSY-EW corrections, and thus ca…
In supersymmetric models with gaugino mediated SUSY breaking (inoMSB), it is assumed that SUSY breaking on a hidden brane is communicated to the visible brane via gauge superfields which propagate in the bulk. This leads to GUT models where the common gaugino mass $m_{1/2}$ is the only soft SUSY breaking term to receive contributions at tree level. To obtain a viable phenomenology, it is assumed that the gaugino mass is induced at some scale $M_c$ beyond the GUT scale, and that additional renormalization group running takes place between $M_c$ and $M_{GUT}$ as in a SUSY GUT. We assume an SU(5)…
The expected trilepton signals from $p \bar p \to χ^\pm_1χ^0_2 \to (χ^0_1\ell^\pmν) (χ^0_1\ell'^+\ell'^-) $ will be converted into hadronically quiet multilepton signals, if the two final $χ^0_1$ have leptonic $R$-parity-violating (RPV) decays $χ^0_1 \to \ell \ell' ν$. We make illustrative calculations of the acceptance for these spectacular RPV signals, and point out that distinctive multilepton signals are possible even when the $R$-conserving trilepton signals are blocked by the ``spoiler mode" $χ^0_2 \to h^0 χ^0_1$. Other channels such as $p\bar p\to χ_1^\pm χ_2^0 \to (χ_1^0\ell^\pmν) (χ_1…
We calculate the next-to-leading order inclusive total cross sections for the associated production processes $pp\to \tilde{t}_i\tildeχ_k^-+X$ in the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model at the CERN LHC. Our results provide the theoretical predictions for the total cross sections for the above processes. The NLO QCD corrections in general enhance the leading order total cross sections significantly, and vastly reduce the dependence of the total cross sections on the renormalization/factorization scale, which leads to increased confidence in predictions based on these results.
We evaluate the $t\bar{c}$ and $t\bar{u}$ productions at the LHC within the general unconstrained MSSM framework. We find that these single top quark productions induced by SUSY-QCD FCNC couplings have remarkable cross sections for favorable parameter values allowed by current low energy data, which can be as large as a few pb. Once large rates of the $t\bar{c}$ and $t\bar{u}$ productions are detected at the LHC, they may be induced by SUSY FCNC couplings. We show that the precise measurement of single top quark production cross sections at the LHC is a powerful probe for the details of the SU…
Recent evidence from the LHC for the Higgs boson with mass between 142 GeV < m_h < 147GeV points to PeV-scale Split Supersymmetry. This article explores the consequences of a Higgs mass in this range and possible discovery modes for Split Susy. Moderate lifetime gluinos, with decay lengths in the 25 microns to 10 years range, are its imminent smoking gun signature. The 7 TeV LHC will be sensitive to the moderately lived gluinos and trilepton signatures from direct electroweakino production. Moreover, the dark matter abundance may be obtained from annihilation through an s-channel Higgs resonan…
A thorough study is performed on pair production and signatures of supersymmetric neutralinos in the MSSM at LEP2. Particular attention is paid to the region of the SuSy parameter space where the associated production of lightest and next-to-lightest neutralinos is the only visible allowed supersymmetric process. In that region, the signal is critically dependent on the selectron masses m(e_L,R). For sqrt(s)/2 < m(e_L,R) < 200-300 GeV and charginos above the threshold for pair production, neutralinos arising from e+e- --> X0(1)X0(2) could be the only SuSy signal detectable at LEP2.
Supersymmetric (SUSY) models with heavy sfermions ($m_{\tilde{f}} \sim 10$ TeV) in the first two generations and the third generation sfermion masses below 1 TeV can solve the SUSY flavor and the CP problems as well as satisfy naturalness constraints. We study the phenomenology of a string-inspired scenario and compare it with the minimal supergravity unified model (mSUGRA). The SUSY trilepton signature at the upgraded Tevatron, the $b\to sγ$ branching fraction and the neutralino dark matter relic density in this model can differ significantly from the mSUGRA model.
We examine the reach of the CERN LHC pp collider for supersymmetric models where the dominant contribution to soft SUSY breaking parameters arises from the superconformal anomaly. In the simplest viable anomaly mediated SUSY breaking (AMSB) model, tachyonic slepton squared masses are made positive by adding a universal contribution m_0^2 to all scalars. We use the event generator ISAJET to generate AMSB signal events as a function of model parameter space. Assuming an integrated luminosity of 10 fb-1, the LHC can reach to values of $m_{\tg}\sim 2.3$ TeV for low values of $m_0$, where the dilep…
Non-universal gaugino mass models can naturally account for the dark matter relic density via the bulk annihilation process with relatively light bino LSP and right sleptons in the mass range of ~ 100 GeV, while accommodating the observed Higgs boson mass of ~ 125 GeV with TeV scale squark/gluino masses. A class of these models can also account for the observed muon g-2 anomaly via SUSY loops with wino and left sleptons in the mass range of 400 -- 700 GeV. These models can be tested at LHC via electroweak production of charged and neutral wino pair, leading to robust trilepton and same sign di…
In this talk I discuss some scenarios which involve small extensions of the ideas usually considered in the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM). I present results of a study of the implication of non-universal gaugino masses (NGM) for the invisible decays of the lightest scalar and the correlation of the same with the relic density of the lightest supersymmetric particle (LSP) in the Universe. Further I discuss SUSY with \rpv. Decay of $\tilde χ_1^0$ in the case of dominant \rpv and \LV, trilinear $λ$ and $λ'$ couplings, and also that of $\tilde χ_1^0, \tilde χ_1^+$ caused by the bili…
Assuming that supersymmetry is realized with parameters in the hyperbolic branch/focus point (HB/FP) region of the minimal supergravity (mSUGRA) model, we show that by searching for multijet + missing E_T events with tagged b jets the reach of experiments at the LHC may be extended by as much as 20% from current projections. The reason for this is that gluino decays to third generation quarks are enhanced because the lightest neutralino has substantial higgsino components. Although we were motivated to perform this analysis because the HB/FP region is compatible with the recent determination o…
We examine signals for sparticle production at the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC) within the framework of gauge mediated supersymmetry breaking models with a low SUSY breaking scale for four different model lines, each of which leads to qualitatively different signatures. We first examine the reach of the LHC via the canonical E_T^miss and multilepton channels that have been advocated within the mSUGRA framework. Next, we examine special features of each of these model lines that could serve to further enhance the SUSY signal over Standard Model backgrounds. We use ISAJET to evaluate the SUS…
Charginos are expected to be the lightest observable supersymmetric particles in many of the supersymmetric models. In the scenario that lighter charginios are pair-produced at CERN LEP II, we present a straightforward procedure for determining the SUSY parameters, $\tanβ$, $M_2$, $μ$, and the electron sneutrino mass $m_{\tildeν}$ up to a four-fold discrete ambiguity, although a large number of unknown SUSY parameters are involved in chargino decays.
Searches for physics beyond the Standard Model of particle physics are about to enter a new era with the startup of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN. Prospects for R-parity conserving supersymmetry discovery and measurements with the ATLAS detector at the LHC are presented. Methods for determining the parameters of the underlying supersymmetry model and the relation to dark matter estimation are discussed.
The requirement of t-b-τYukawa coupling unification is common in simple grand unified models based on the gauge group SO(10), and it also places a severe constraint on the expected spectrum of superpartners. For Yukawa-unified models with μ>0, the spectrum is characterized by three mass scales: {\it i}). first and second generation scalars in the multi-TeV range, {\it ii}). third generation scalars, μand m_A in the few-TeV range and {\it iii}). gluinos in the \sim 350-500 GeV range with chargino masses around 100-160 GeV. In such a scenario, gluino pair production should occur at large rates a…
Motivated by the observed excess of the di-photon signal in Higgs searches, $σ_{γγ}/σ_{\rm SM}\simeq 1.5$, we argue that models with enhanced $Γ(h\to γγ)$ alone are the most favorable scenarios when the latest LHC/Tevatron results are all taken into account. We study the phenomenology of a supersymmetric scenario of light stau first proposed by \textit{Carena et. al. \cite{carlos}} that predicts a 125 GeV SM-like Higgs boson with enhanced diphoton decay through light stau loops. Since it is extremely challenging to search the Drell-Yan stau pair at the LHC due to the small production rate, we …
The ATLAS and CMS Collaborations at the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC) have devoted considerable effort to the study of SUSY signatures and measurements. This talk provides an overview of what can be learned at the LHC if TeV-scale SUSY exists.
This talk summarizes work by the ATLAS Collaboration at the CERN Large Hadron Collider on the search SUSY particles and Higgs bosons and on possible measurements of their properties.
Luminosity upgrades of the Fermilab Tevatron pbar-p collider have been shown to allow experimental detection of a Standard Model (SM) Higgs boson up to $m_{H_{SM}}\sim 120$ GeV via $WH_{SM} \to \ellνb\bar{b}$ events. This limit nearly saturates the parameter space for many models of weak scale supersymmetry (SUSY) with a minimal particle content. It is therefore interesting to examine the SUSY Higgs reach of future Tevatron experiments. Contours are presented of Higgs boson reach for CERN LEP2 and Tevatron luminosity upgrades for three models of weak scale SUSY: the Minimal Supersymmetric Stan…
In the minimal supersymmetric standard model (MSSM) properties of the third generation sfermions are important from the viewpoint of discriminating the SUSY breaking models and in the determination of the Higgs boson mass. If gluinos are copiously produced at CERN LHC, gluino decays into tb through stop and sbottom can be studied using hadronic decays of the top quark. The kinematical endpoint of the gluino decays can be evaluated using a W sideband method to estimate combinatorial backgrounds. This implies that fundamental parameters related to the third generation squarks can be reliably mea…
After a brief review of the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM) and specifically the Minimal Supergravity Model (SUGRA), the prospects for discovering and studying SUSY at the CERN Large Hadron Collider are reviewed. The possible role for a future Lepton Collider --- whether $μ^+μ^-$ or $e^+e^-$ --- is also discussed.
The potential of seeing supersymmetry (SUSY) at the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC) was studied by looking at 3 types of signals: dilepton events from slepton pair productions, trilepton events from chargino/neutralino productions and missing energy plus multi-jet events from gluino/squark productions. I described my results by mapping out reachable areas in the supergravity parameter space. Areas explorable at LEP II were also mapped out for comparison.
We examine the prospects for detecting light charged higgsinos that are expected to be a necessary feature of natural SUSY models via $pp\to {\widetilde W}^\pm{\widetilde W}_1^\pm jj+X$ processes arising dominantly from $W^\pm W^\pm$ fusion at LHC13. The signal will be a pair of same-sign leptons ($e$ or $μ$) in events with two relatively forward, hemispherically-separated jets with a large rapidity gap. We find that even though the higgsinos have a full-strength $SU(2)$ gauge couplings to $W$-bosons, the LHC13 cross section for the production of same sign higgsino pairs is smaller than 0.02 f…
The search for physics beyond the Standard Model (BSM) is one of the most important goals for the general purpose detector ATLAS at the Large Hadron Collider at CERN. We review some of the current strategies to search for generic SUSY models with R-parity conservation in channels with jets, leptons and missing transverse energy for an integrated luminosity of L = 200 pb-1 at a centre-of-mass energy s = 10 TeV. Only a selection of the results is presented with a focus on the discovery potential for inclusive searches. The discovery reach for a centre-of-mass energy of s = 7 TeV and an integrate…
While the SUSY flavor, CP and gravitino problems seem to favor a very heavy spectrum of matter scalars, fine-tuning in the electroweak sector prefers low values of superpotential mass μ. In the limit of low μ, the two lightest neutralinos and light chargino are higgsino-like. The light charginos and neutralinos may have large production cross sections at LHC, but since they are nearly mass degenerate, there is only small energy release in three-body sparticle decays. Possible dilepton and trilepton signatures are difficult to observe after mild cuts due to the very soft p_T spectrum of the fin…
We confront the generally small cross sections for gluino pair production in e^+e^- annihilation with the much larger ones in photon-photon scattering at a multi-TeV linear collider like CERN CLIC. The larger rates and the steeper rise of the cross section at threshold may allow for a precise gluino mass determination in high-energy photon-photon collisions for a wide range of squark masses and post-LEP SUSY benchmark points.
We address the complementarity of the CERN Large Hadron Collider and an $e^+ e^-$ Linear Collider in determining SUSY model parameters for a particular SO(10) SUSY GUT case study.
If $R$-parity is not conserved, the lightest supersymmetric particle (LSP) could decay via lepton number violating or baryon number violating interactions. The latter case is particularly insidious since it leads to a reduction of the $\eslt$ as well as leptonic signals for supersymmetry. We evaluate cross sections for jets plus $\eslt$, 1$\ell$, $2\ell$ (same-sign and opposite sign) and $3\ell$ event topologies that result from the simultaneous production of all sparticles at the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC), assuming that the lightest supersymmetric particle $\tz_1$ decays hadronically i…
We report a next-to-leading order (NLO) calculation of the production of gaugino-like charginos ($\chargino$) and neutralinos ($\neutralino$) in association with gluinos ($\gluino$) at hadron colliders, including the strong corrections from colored particles and sparticles. We predict inclusive cross sections at the Fermilab Tevatron and CERN LHC. The NLO cross sections are more stable against variations in the hard-scattering scale parameter and are greater than the LO values.
Results are presented of a next-to-leading order calculation in perturbative QCD of the production of charginos and neutralinos in association with gluinos at hadron colliders. Predictions for cross sections are shown at the energies of the Fermilab Tevatron and CERN Large Hadron Collider for a typical supergravity (SUGRA) model of the sparticle mass spectrum and for a light gluino model.
We present complete results of a next-to-leading order calculation of the production of gaugino-like charginos ($\chargino$) and neutralinos ($\neutralino$) in association with gluinos ($\gluino$) at hadron colliders, including the strong corrections from the exchange of colored particles and sparticles. Adopting a variety of models for the sparticle mass spectrum, including typical supergravity (SUGRA) models and a light gluino model, we provide predictions for total and differential cross sections at the energies of the Fermilab Tevatron and CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC).
We present a complete next-to-leading order (NLO) calculation for the total cross section for inclusive Higgs pair production via bottom-quark fusion at the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC) in the minimal supersymmetric standard model (MSSM) and the minimal supergravity model (mSUGRA). We emphasize the contributions of squark and gluino loops (SQCD) and the decoupling properties of our results for heavy squark and gluino masses. The enhanced couplings of the b quark to the Higgs bosons in supersymmetric models with large tanb yield large NLO SQCD corrections in some regions of parameter space.
Motivated by a $\sim 3σ$ excess recorded by the CMS experiment at the LHC around a mass of order $\sim 137$ GeV in $ZZ\to 4l$ and $γγ$ samples, we analyse the discovery potential of a second neutral Higgs boson in the Supersymmetric $B-L$ extension of the Standard Model (BLSSM) at the CERN machine. We confirm that a double Higgs peak structure can be generated in this framework, with CP-even Higgs boson masses at $\sim125$ GeV and $\sim137$ GeV, unlike the case of the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM).
We discuss the signals at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) for scenarios with non-universal gaugino masses in supersymmetric (SUSY) theories. We perform a multichannel analysis, and consider the ratios of event rates in different channels such as $jets + {E}_T/ $, $same$ - and $opposite$-$sign dileptons$ $+jets+ {E}_T/ $, as well as $single-lepton$ and $trilepton$ final states together with $jets + {E}_T/ $ . Low-energy SUSY spectra corresponding to high-scale gaugino non-universality arising from different breaking schemes of SU(5) as well as SO(10) Grand Unified (GUT) SUSY models are consider…
This document emerged from work that started in January 2012 as a joint effort by the ATLAS, CMS and LPCC supersymmetry (SUSY) working groups to compile state-of-the-art cross section predictions for SUSY particle production at the LHC. We present cross sections for various SUSY processes in pp collisions at $\sqrt{s} =7$ TeV, including an estimate of the theoretical uncertainty due to scale variation and the parton distribution functions. Further results for higher LHC centre-of-mass energies will be collected at https://twiki.cern.ch/twiki/bin/view/LHCPhysics/SUSYCrossSections. For squark an…
There is hope that the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN will tell us about the fate of supersymmetry at the TeVscale. Therefore we might try to identify our expectations for the discovery of SUSY, especially in the first years of operation of this machine. In this talk we shall concentrate on the simplest SUSY scheme: the MSSM with SUSY broken in a hidden sector mediated by interactions of gravitational strength (gravity-, modulus and mirage-mediation). Such a situation might be favoured in a large class of string inspired models. There is a good chance to identify such simple schemes by kn…
If $R$-parity is not conserved, the SUSY-threshold production process $e^+e^- \to χ_1^0χ_1^0$ could be detectable with relatively low luminosity. Hence an interesting mass range for the lightest SUSY particle $χ_1^0$ could be explored at the CERN LEP collider during its intermediate energy development, even before the full LEP200 upgrade is completed. We present cross section formulas and discuss event rates and detection for the three distinct decay options: $χ_1^0\to 2\, {\rm charged \; leptons}\, +\, {\rm neutrino}$, $χ_1^0\to {\rm lepton}\, +2\, {\rm quarks}$, and $χ_1^0\to 3\, {\rm quarks…
One way to ameliorate the SUSY flavor and CP problems is to postulate that scalar masses lie in the TeV or beyond regime. For example, the focus point (FP) region of the minimal supergravity (mSUGRA) model is especially compelling in that heavy scalar masses can co-exist with low fine-tuning while yielding the required relic abundance of cold dark matter (via a mixed higgsino-bino neutralino). We examine many of the characteristics of collider events expected to arise at the CERN LHC in models with multi-TeV scalars, taking the mSUGRA FP region as a case study. The collider events are characte…
We study the effects of O(alpha_s) supersymmetric QCD (SQCD) corrections on the total production rate and kinematic distributions of polarized and unpolarized top-pair production in pp and p anti-p collisions. At the Fermilab Tevatron p anti-p collider, top-quark pairs are mainly produced via quark-antiquark annihilation, q anti-q -> t anti-t, while at the CERN LHC pp collider gluon-gluon scattering, g g -> t anti-t, dominates. We compute the complete set of O(alpha_s) SQCD corrections to both production channels and study their dependence on the parameters of the Minimal Supersymmetric Standa…
We analyze the prospects of the detection of a $\mathcal{O}(1)$ GeV neutralino dark matter, $\widetildeχ^0_{1}$, in the Next-to-Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model at the 14 TeV LHC. We perform dedicated scans of the relevant parameter space of the model and find a large number of points where the thermal relic abundance due to such a dark matter is consistent with the PLANCK measurement. We note that this dark matter is highly singlino-dominated and is always accompanied by a pseudoscalar, $A_1$, with a mass around twice its own, which is responsible for its resonant annihilation. For two b…
We study flavor changing effects on the \ppbchT process at the Large Hadron Collider(LHC), which are inspired by the left-handed up-type squark mixings in the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model(MSSM). We find that the SUSY QCD radiative corrections to $bcH^\pm$ coupling can significantly enhance the cross sections at the tree-level by a factor about $1.5 \sim 5$ with our choice of parameters. We conclude that the squark mixing mechanism in the MSSM makes the \ppbchT process a new channel for discovering a charged Higgs boson and investigating flavor changing effects.
We use ISAJET to perform a detailed study of the multilepton signals expected from cascade decays of supersymmetric particle produced at the CERN LHC. Our analysis is performed within the framework of the minimal supergravity model with gauge coupling unification and radiative electroweak symmetry breaking. We delineate the regions of parameter space where jets plus missing energy plus 1, 2 (opposite sign and same-sign dileptons), and 3 isolated lepton events should be visible above standard model backgrounds. We find that if any $\eslt$ signal at the LHC is to be attributed to gluino and/or s…
We study the supersymmetric version of the type-II seesaw mechanism assuming minimal supergravity boundary conditions. We calculate branching ratios for lepton flavour violating (LFV) scalar tau decays, potentially observable at the LHC, as well as LFV decays at low energy, such as $l_i \to l_j + γ$ and compare their sensitivity to the unknown seesaw parameters. In the minimal case of only one triplet coupling to the standard model lepton doublets, ratios of LFV branching ratios can be related unambigously to neutrino oscillation parameters. We also discuss how measurements of soft SUSY breaki…
