The Hyperbolic Geometry of the Sinh-Gordon Equation

This preliminary report studies immersed surfaces of constant mean curvature in $H^3$ through their {\it adjusted Gauss maps} (as harmonic maps in $S^2$) and their {\it adjusted frames} in SU(2). Lawson's correspondence between Euclidean CMC surfaces and their hyperbolic cousins is interpreted here under a different perspective: the equivalence of their Weierstrass representations (normalized potentials). This work also presents a construction algorithm for the moving frame, the adjusted frame, their Maurer-Cartan forms, and ultimately the CMC immersion.

Twisted hierarchies associated with the generalized sine-Gordon equation

Twisted $U$- and twisted $U/K$-hierarchies are soliton hierarchies introduced by Terng to find higher flows of the generalized sine-Gordon equation. Twisted $\frac {O(J,J)}{O(J)\times O(J)}$-hierarchies are among the most important classes of twisted hierarchies. In this paper, interesting first and higher flows of twisted $\frac {O(J,J)}{O(J)\times O(J)}$-hierarchies are explicitly derived, the associated submanifold geometry is investigated and a unified treatment of the inverse scattering theory is provided.

Curve Flows in Lagrange-Finsler Geometry, Bi-Hamiltonian Structures and Solitons

Methods in Riemann-Finsler geometry are applied to investigate bi-Hamiltonian structures and related mKdV hierarchies of soliton equations derived geometrically from regular Lagrangians and flows of non-stretching curves in tangent bundles. The total space geometry and nonholonomic flows of curves are defined by Lagrangian semisprays inducing canonical nonlinear connections (N-connections), Sasaki type metrics and linear connections.
