In this paper we consider a system consisting of a two-level atom in an excited state interacting with two modes of a radiation field prepared initially in $l$-photon coherent states. This system is described by two-mode multiphoton (, i.e., $k_1, k_2$) Jaynes-Cummings model (JCM). For this system we investigate the occurrence of the revival-collapse phenomenon (RCP) in the evolution of the single-mode, two-mode, sum and difference quadrature squeezing. We show that there is a class of states for which all these types of squeezing exhibit RCP similar to that involved in the corresponding atomic inversion. Also we show numerically that the single-mode squeezing of the first mode for $(k_1,k_2)=(3,1)$ provides RCP similar to that of the atomic inversion of the case $(k_1,k_2)=(1,1)$, however, sum and difference squeezing give partial information on that case. Moreover, we show that single-mode, two-mode and sum squeezing for the case $(k_1,k_2)=(2,2)$ provide information on the atomic inversion of the single-mode two-photon JCM. We derive the rescaled squeezing factors giving accurate information on the atomic inversion for all cases. The consequences of these results are that the homodyne and heterodyne detectors can be used to detect the RCP for the two-mode JCM.
The m-photon Jaynes-Cummings Hamiltonian is a natural generalization of the much studied Jaynes-Cummings Hamiltonian. In this short note we give the relevant operators for the time-dependent generalized m-photon Jaynes-Cummings Hamiltonian. The dynamical equations for these operators are also given. These operators are needed and indeed are the basic building blocks for performing calculations in the context of the Maximum Entropy Formalism.
This paper provides a scheme for generating maximally entangled qubit states in the anti-Jaynes-Cummings interaction mechanism, so called entangled anti-polariton qubit states. We demonstrate that in an initial vacuum-field, Rabi oscillations in a cavity mode in the anti-Jaynes-Cummings interaction process, occur in the reverse sense relative to the Jaynes-Cummings interaction process and that time evolution of entanglement in the anti-Jaynes-Cummings interaction process takes the same form as in the Jaynes-Cummings interaction process. With the generated anti-polariton qubit state as one of t…
A detailed analysis of matrix Darboux transformations under the condition that the derivative of the superpotential be self-adjoint is given. As a onsequence, a class of the symmetries associated to Schrödinger matrix Hamiltonians is characterized. The applications are oriented towards the Jaynes-Cummings eigenvalue problem, so that exactly solvable $2\times 2$ matrix Hamiltonians of the Jaynes-Cummings type are obtained. It is also established that the Jaynes-Cummings Hamiltonian is a quadratic function of a Dirac-type Hamiltonian.
We investigate entanglement dynamics and properties of double Jaynes-Cummings model. In particular we study the dynamics of double Jaynes-Cummings model based on geometric invariants for four qubits. We show that these geometric invariants provide us with useful information about different types of entanglement during the quantum evolution of the system.
The Jaynes-Cummings model is solved with the raising and lowering (shift) operators by using the matrix-diagonalizing technique. Bell nonlocality is also found present ubiquitously in the excitations states of the model.
We investigate entanglement dynamics of two isolated atoms, each in its own Jaynes-Cummings cavity. We show analytically that initial entanglement has an interesting subsequent time evolution, including the so-called sudden death effect.
The dynamics of an atom on the Jaynes-Cummings model has been studied by an atomic inversion, von Neumann entropy and so on. In this letter, we will treat the Jaynes-Cummings model as a problem in non-equilibrium statistical mechanics and apply quantum mutual entropy to study the irreversible dynamics of a state for the atom on this model.
We develop a systematic method of solving two non-interacting Jaynes-Cummings models by using the dressed state formalism in Hilbert space $\mathcal{H}_{AB}^{(2\otimes2)}$. It is shown that such model, called Double Jaynes-Cummings model (D-JCM), can be exactly solved if we take the initial bare state as the linear superposition of two Bell states. The collapse and revival oscillation, which is the standard trait of typical Jaynes-Cummings model, can be recovered if we make measurement at each local sites. Some consequence of the entanglement-induced dressing is discussed.
We considered the anti-Jaynes-Cummings (AJC) interaction of a two-level atom in an initial ground state interacting with a field mode in an initial squeezed coherent state at arbitrary values of squeeze parameter r and provided the Jaynes-Cummings (JC) interaction as a comparison. We analysed the degree of entanglement (DEM) measured by the von Neumann entropy and the nature of the field quantified by the Mandel Q parameter in relation to the atomic population inversion during the AJC interaction and separately the corresponding JC interaction. We noted in our examples that at r>1.4, photon st…
We study in detail entanglement properties of the Jaynes-Cummings model assuming a two-level atom (qubit) interacting with the first $N$ levels of an electromagnetic field mode (qudit) in a cavity. In the Jaynes-Cummings model, the number operator is the conserved quantity that allows for the exact diagonalization of the Hamiltonian and thus we study states that commute with this conserved quantity and whose structure is preserved under the Jaynes-Cummings dynamics. Contrary to the common belief, we show that there are bound entangled states that satisfy the symmetries imposed by the conservat…
We investigate a generalized Jaynes-Cummings model with the external field driving the cavity mode. The numerical results for the dynamics of the atom and the cavity field mode are given. Approximated solutions to the Schrodinger equation are supplied, which allow us to predict the kinematics of the Q function in the complex plane.
A k-quantum nonlinear Jaynes-Cummings model for two trapped ions interacting with laser beams resonant to k-th red side-band of center-of-mass mode, far from Lamb-Dicke regime, has been obtained. The exact analytic solution showed the existence of quantum collapses and revivals of the occupation of two atoms.
In this article we apply algebraic operator ordering property of the basic atom and field operators to construct and prove conservation of the excitation number operator of the anti-rotating (anti-Jaynes-Cummings) component of the quantum Rabi model. The corresponding U(1) and parity symmetry operators have also been derived in explicit form.
A nondegenerate two-photon Jaynes-Cummings model is investigated where the leakage of photon through the cavity is taken into account. The effect of cavity damping on the mean photon number, atomic populations, field statistics and both field and atomic squeezing is considered on the basis of master equation in dressed-state approximation for initial coherent fields and excited atom.
We consider two Jaynes-Cummings cavities coupled periodically with a photon hopping term. The semi-classical phase space is chaotic, with regions of stability over some ranges of the parameters. The quantum case exhibits dynamic localization and dynamic tunneling between classically forbidden regions. We explore the correspondence between the classical and quantum phase space and propose a scheme for implementing the system experimentally.
We study the algebraic structure of the one-dimensional Dirac oscillator by extending the concept of spin symmetry to a noncommutative case. An SO(4) algebra is found connecting the eigenstates of the Dirac oscillator, in which the two elements of Cartan subalgebra are conserved quantities. Similar results are obtained in the Jaynes--Cummings model.
We present the dissipative dynamics of the field of two-photon Jaynes-Cummings model (JCM) with Stark shift in dispersive approximation and investigate the influence of dissipation on entanglement. We show the coherence properties of the field can be affected by the dissipative cavity when nonlinear two-photon process is involved.
We investigate the dynamics of a four-photon Jaynes-Cummings model for large photon number. It is shown that at certain times the cavity field is in a pure state which is a superposition of two Kerr states, analogous to the Schrödinger cat state (superposition of two coherent states) which occurs in the one and two photon cases.
In this paper, we present a protocol to engineer upper-bounded and sliced Jaynes-Cummings and anti-Jaynes-Cummings Hamiltonians in cavity quantum electrodynamics. In the upper-bounded Hamiltonians, the atom-field interaction is confined to a subspace of Fock states ranging from $\left\vert 0\right\rangle $ up to $\left\vert 4\right\rangle $, while in the sliced interaction the Fock subspace ranges from $\left\vert M\right\rangle $ up to $\left\vert M+4\right\rangle $. We also show how to build upper-bounded and sliced Liouvillians irrespective of engineering Hamiltonians. The upper-bounded and…
Recently, it has been known that a quantum entangled state plays an important role in the field ofquantum information theory such as quantum teleportation and quantum computation. The research on quantifying entangled states has been done by several measures. In this letter, we will adopt the method using quantum mutual entropy to measure the degree of entanglement of Jaynes-Cummings model.
We propose a continuous time quantum search algorithm using a generalization of the Jaynes-Cummings model. In this model the states of the atom are the elements among which the algorithm realizes the search, exciting resonances between the initial and the searched states. This algorithm behaves like Grover's algorithm; the optimal search time is proportional to the square root of the size of the search set and the probability to find the searched state oscillates periodically in time. In this frame, it is possible to reinterpret the usual Jaynes-Cummings model as a trivial case of the quantum …
In this work we construct an approximate time evolution operator for a system composed by two coupled Jaynes-Cummings Hamiltonians. We express the full time evolution operator as a product of exponentials and we analyze the validity of our approximations contrasting our analytical results with those obtained by purely numerical methods.
In this paper, we develop the notion of the marginal and density atomic Wehrl entropies for two-level atom interacting with the single mode field, i.e. Jaynes-Cummings model. For this system we show that there are relationships between these quantities and both of the information entropies and the von Neumann entropy.
A unitary transformation of the N-ion Jaynes-Cummings hamiltonian is proposed. It is shown that any approximate expression of the evolution operator associated with the transformed hamiltonian retains its validity independently from the intensity of the external driving field. In particular, using the rotating wave approximation, one obtains a solution for the N-ion Jaynes-Cummings model which improves the standard rotating wave approximation solution.
We have experimentally observed the dynamics of a single polariton and two polaritons in a two-ion chain. By driving two trapped ions at a motional blue-sideband transition, we realize the anti-Jaynes-Cummings-Hubbard model. When a single polariton exists in a trapped-ion chain, the polariton hops between the ion sites. On the other hand, when there are single polaritons at each ion site, the hopping of the polaritons is suppressed because of the polariton-polariton interaction induced by the nonlinearity of the anti-Jaynes-Cummings interaction, thereby realizing the blockade of polariton hopp…
The original Jaynes-Cummings model is described by a Hamiltonian which is exactly solvable. Here we extend this model by several types of interactions leading to a nonhermitian operator which doesn't satisfy the physical condition of space-time reflection symmetry (PT symmetry). However the new Hamiltonians are either exactly solvable admitting an entirely real spectrum or quasi exactly solvable with a real algebraic part of their spectrum.
We have studied the Jaynes-Cummings-Hubbard model for a chain with the Kerr effect (nonlinear optical effect) through fermionic approximation. We have observed that the Kerr effec does not cause major changes in the energy spectrum. However, the phase transition properties from Mott insulator to superfluid undergoes significant changes due to the Kerr effect.
We show that the two-photon Jaynes-Cummings model, feasible of experimental realization in cavity or ion-trap quantum electrodynamics, can approximately produce nonlinear coherent states of the field. We introduce these nonlinear coherent states of the field as $2m$-photon added or subtracted coherent states in terms of raising and lowering field operators, also known as London phase operators or Susskind-Glogower operators.
We study the dynamics of a single control atom and an atomic sample interacting with a nonresonant cavity mode. The control atom is driven by an auxiliary classical field. Under certain conditions, the coherent energy exchange between the control atom and the atomic sample induced by the cavity mode is described by the Jaynes-Cummings model. The idea provides a possibility for quantum-state engineering and reconstruction for collective atomic modes.
In this paper we study the evolution of the two two-level atoms interacting with a single-mode quantized radiation field, namely, two-atom multiphoton Jaynes-Cummings model when the radiation field and atoms are initially prepared in the superpostion of displaced number states and excited atomic states, respectively. For this system we investigate the atomic inversion, Wigner function, phase distribution and entanglement.
A two level system resonantly coupled to a single mode cavity field and subject to ground state occupancy measurement like interaction is considered. For this situation, the solution to the Lindblad master equation for the density matrix is obtained with respect to the Jaynes Cummings eigenstate representation. It is seen that, the rate of decoherence of the superposition of the Jaynes Cummings eigenstates increases monotonically with the increase in the occupancy measurement coupling up to a certain critical value (already reported in the literature in a different context), whereas the rate d…
We develop a theoretical framework to evaluate the energy spectrum, stationary states, and dielectric susceptibility of two Jaynes-Cummings systems coupled together by the overlap of their respective longitudinal field modes, and we solve and characterize the combined system for the case that the two atoms and two cavities share a single quantum of energy.
We provide the first solution of a time-dependent metric operator for the non-Hermitian Jaynes-Cummings Hamiltonian. We use this solution to calculate the entanglement between two identical isolated such Hamiltonians. The presence of a non-Hermitian interaction term leads to a spontaneously broken $\mathcal{PT}$-symmetric regime which manifests itself in the exotic time-evolution of entanglement. When the symmetry is broken, oscillatory modes transition into decay. As such that there is a drastic difference in behaviour between the broken and unbroken regimes.
We study and exactly solve the two-photon and k-photon Jaynes-Cummings models by using a novelty algebraic method. This algebraic method is based on the Pauli matrices realization and the tilting transformation of the $SU(2)$ group and let us diagonalize the Hamiltonian of these models by properly choosing the coherent state parameters of the transformation. Finally, we explicitly obtain the energy spectrum and eigenfunctions for each model.
We examine the eigenstates of the one-dimensional Jaynes-Cummings-Hubbard (JCH) model in the two-excitation subspace. We discover that two-excitation bound states emerge when the ratio of vacuum Rabi frequency to the tunneling rate between cavities exceeds a critical value. We determine the critical ratio as a function of the quasi-momentum quantum number, and indicate that the bound states carry a strong correlation in which the two polaritons appear to be spatially confined together.
In this paper, we have proposed a q-deformed Jaynes-Cummings(JC) model and constructed the q-SuperCoherent States(q-SCSs) for the q-deformed JC model. We have also discussed the properties of the q-supercoherent states and given the completeness relation expression. The representation of the q-supercoherent states for the q-deformed JC model is studied as well. PACS number(s): 03.65.Nk Key Works: q-deformed JC model, q-supercoherent states,q-SCSs representation.
An exact solution of the problem of two-atom one- and two-mode Jaynes-Cummings model with intensity-dependent coupling is presented. Asymptotic solutions for system state vectors are obtained in the approximation of large initial coherent fields. The atom-field entanglement is investigated on the basis of the reduced atomic entropy dynamics. The possibility of the system being initially in a pure disentangled state to revive into this state during the evolution process for both models is shown. Conditions and times of disentanglement are derived.
Using the underlying su(2) algebra of the Jaynes-Cummings Model (JCM), we construct a time dependent interaction term that allows analytical solution for even off-resonance conditions. Exact solutions for the time evolution of any state has been found. The effect of detuning on the Rabi oscillations and the collapse and revival of inversion is indicated. It is also shown that at resonance, the time dependent JCM is analytically solvable for an arbitrary interaction term.
Strong coupling between a single resonator mode and a single quantum emitter is key to a plethora of experiments and applications in quantum science and technology and is commonly described by means of the Jaynes-Cummings model. Here, we show that the Jaynes-Cummings model only applies when the cavity does not significantly change the emitter's emission rate into free-space. Most notably, the predictions made by the Jaynes-Cummings model become increasingly wrong when approaching the ideal emitter-resonator systems with no free-space decay channels. We present a Hamiltonian that provides, with…
We investigate time-dependent stochastic disorder in the one-dimensional Jaynes-Cummings-Hubbard model and show that it gives rise to diffusive behaviour. We find that disorder correlation frequency is effective in controlling the level of diffusivity. In the defectless system the mean squared displacement (MSD), which is a measure of the diffusivity, increases with increasing disorder frequency. Contrastingly, when static defects are present the MSD increases with disorder frequency only at lower frequencies; at higher frequencies, increasing disorder frequency actually reduces the MSD.
We present a scheme for transferring quantum state between atom and cavity field in Jaynes-Cummings model. It is based on the fact that the atom in a cavity can induce the generation of modified coherent states, which can be shown to be macroscopically distinguishable. The application on two-cavity system provides an alternative scheme for preparation of non-local superpositions of quasi-classical light states. Numerical simulation shows that the proposed schemes are efficient.
A classical realization of the Jaynes-Cummings (JC) model, describing the interaction of a two-level atom with a quantized cavity mode, is proposed based on light transport in engineered waveguide superlattices. The optical setting enables to visualize in Fock space dynamical regimes not yet accessible in quantum systems, providing new physical insights into the deep strong coupling regime of the JC model. In particular, bouncing of photon number wave packets in Hilbert space and revivals of populations are explained as generalized Bloch oscillations in an inhomogeneous tight-binding lattice.
We consider a system consisting of N two-level atoms inside an M-mode degenerate, driven cavity. We discuss the formation of dark states in this system and derive the conditions required for the observation of the dark-state anti-resonance in the cavity emission.
By using extended bosonic coherent states, the solution to the Jaynes-Cummings model without the rotating-wave approximation can be mapped to that of a polynomial equation with a single variable. The solutions to this polynomial equation can give all eigenvalues and eigenfunctions of this model with all values of the coupling strength and the detuning exactly, which can be readily applied to recent circuit quantum electrodynamic systems operating in the ultra-strong coupling regime.
For multiphoton intensity-dependent Jaynes-Cummings model (JCM), which is described by two-level atom interacting with a radiation field, we prove that there is a relationship between the atomic inversion and the quadrature squeezing. We give the required condition to obtain best information from this relation. Also we show that this relation is only sensitive to large values of the detuning parameter. Furthermore, we discuss briefly such relation for the off-resonance standard JCM.
On the example of stationary states of a system consisting of an atom and a quantized electromagnetic field (the Jaynes-Cummings model in free space), it is shown that the physical characteristics of the system (as the energy and the probability distribution of finding the center of mass of the atom) explicitly depend on the choice of the basis of quantization of the electromagnetic field. Therefore, the secondary quantization procedure is not independent of the choice of the quantization basis in the interaction of the field with the material medium.
The Lindblad approach to open quantum systems is introduced for studying the dynamics of a single trapped ion prepared in nonclassical motional states and subjected to continuous measurement of its internal population. This results in an inhibition of the dynamics similar to the one occurring in the quantum Zeno effect. In particular, modifications to the Jaynes-Cummings collapses and revivals arising from an initial coherent state of motion in various regimes of interaction with the driving laser are dealt in detail.
This report presents an approach to the exact solutions of the time-dependent Jaynes-Cummings (J-C) model without the rotating wave approximation (RWA). It is shown that there is a squeezing-operator unitary transformation for relating the J-C model without RWA and the one with RWA. Thus by using an appropriate squeezing unitary transformation, the time-dependent J-C model without RWA can be transformed into the one with RWA that has been exactly solved previously, and based on this one can readily obtain the exact solutions of the time-dependent Jaynes-Cummings (J-C) model without RWA. The ap…
We find that a suppression of the collapse and revival of population inversion occurs in response to insertion of Gaussian quenched disorder in atom-cavity interaction strength in the Jaynes-Cummings model. The character of suppression can be significantly different in the presence of non-Gaussian disorder, which we uncover by studying the cases when the disorder is uniform, discrete, and Cauchy-Lorentz. Interestingly, the quenched averaged atom-photon entanglement keeps displaying nontrivial oscillations even after the population inversion has been suppressed. Subsequently, we show that disor…
A system evolving under the driven Jaynes--Cummings model will undergo a phase transition at a critical driving field amplitude. This transition is foreshadowed by a collapse of the quasienergy level spectra of the system and remains present as the model is extended to include a counter-rotating interaction. We study this critical response and obtain the eigenvalues and eigenstates of the extended model by presenting a correspondence between the Jaynes--Cummings model and a charged Dirac particle subject to an external electromagnetic field. Under this correspondence, the field and two-level s…
We introduce a dynamical system that instead of exchanging a single photon as in the atomic system of the usual Jaynes-Cummings model (JCM), it exchanges instead a squeezed coherent photon. Accordingly, the creation and annihilation photon operators in the JCM are replaced by the creation and annihilation operators of squeezed coherent states, respectively. This transformation generates a photon Hamiltonian that modifies the JCM that includes terms usually omitted in the JCM when making the rotating-wave approximation and, in addition, the transformation introduces atom exchange terms absent i…
The linear entropy, the von Neumann entropy and the atomic Wehrl entropy are frequently used to quantify entanglement in the quantum systems. These relations provide typical information on the entanglement in the Jaynes-Cummings model (JCM). In this Letter, we explain the origin of this analytically and derive a closed form for the atomic Wehrl entropy. Moreover, we show that it is more convenient to use the Bloch sphere radius for quantifying entanglement in the JCM instead of these entropic relations.
In this paper we provide a microscopic derivation of the master equation for the Jaynes-Cummings model with cavity losses. We single out both the differences with the phenomenological master equation used in the literature and the approximations under which the phenomenological model correctly describes the dynamics of the atom-cavity system. Some examples wherein the phenomenological and the microscopic master equations give rise to different predictions are discussed in detail.
We develop the equivalence between the two-dimensional Dirac oscillator and the anti-Jaynes-Cummings model within a q-deformed scenario. We solve the Hamiltonian spectrum and the time evolution for number and coherent initial states, focusing on the appearance of the Zitterbewegung effect. We show the lack of preservation of the q-deformed versions of the total angular momentum that reproduces a collapse-revival structure. We provide suitable relations for the non relativistic limit.
In this work we study the stochastic resonance (SR) effect in a driven dissipative Jaynes-Cummings model. The SR effect is systematically studied in the semiclassical and full quantum frameworks and in both cases we find that SRs simultaneously occur for the optical and atomic freedoms. In particular, at zero temperature quantum SR can be induced merely by vacuum fluctuations. The qualitative features of semiclassical SR and quantum SR are similar, but the parameter region of quantum SR are shifted from the semiclassical region due to the widely-used factorization in obtaining semiclassical eq…
