Semiconductor quantum dots (QDs) in photonic nanocavities provide monolithic, robust platforms for both quantum information processing and cavity quantum electrodynamics (QED). An inherent feature of such solid-state cavity QED systems is the presence of electron-phonon interactions, which distinguishes these systems from conventional atomic cavity QED. Understanding the effects of electron-phonon interactions on these systems is indispensable for controlling and exploiting the rich physics that they exhibit. Here we investigate the effects of electron-phonon interactions on a QD-based cavity QED system. When the QD and the cavity are off-resonance, we observe phonon-assisted cavity mode emission that strongly depends on the temperature and cavity-detuning. When they are on-resonance, we observe an asymmetric vacuum Rabi doublet, the splitting of which narrows with increasing temperature. These experimental observations can be well reproduced using a cavity QED model that includes electron-acoustic-phonon interactions. Our work provides significant insight into the important but hitherto poorly understood mechanism of non-resonant QD-cavity coupling and into the physics of various cavity QED systems utilizing emitters coupled to phonons, such as nitrogen-vacancy centres in diamond and colloidal nanocrystals.
We describe a coherent control technique for coupling electron spin states associated with semiconductor double-dot molecule to a microwave stripline resonator on a chip. We identify a novel regime of operation in which strong interaction between a molecule and a resonator can be achieved with minimal decoherence, reaching the so-called strong coupling regime of cavity QED. We describe potential applications of such a system, including low-noise coherent electrical control, fast QND measurements of spin states, and long-range spin coupling.
Phonon-cavity electromechanics allows the manipulation of mechanical oscillations similar to photon-cavity systems. Many advances on this subject have been achieved in various materials. In addition, the coherent phonon transfer (phonon Rabi oscillations) between the phonon cavity mode and another oscillation mode has attracted many interest in nano-science. Here we demonstrate coherent phonon transfer in a carbon nanotube phonon-cavity system with two mechanical modes exhibiting strong dynamical coupling. The gate-tunable phonon oscillation modes are manipulated and detected by extending the …
An electron-phonon cavity consisting of a quantum dot embedded in a free-standing GaAs/AlGaAs membrane is characterized in Coulomb blockade measurements at low temperatures. We find a complete suppression of single electron tunneling around zero bias leading to the formation of an energy gap in the transport spectrum. The observed effect is induced by the excitation of a localized phonon mode confined in the cavity. This phonon blockade of transport is lifted at magnetic fields where higher electronic states with nonzero angular momentum are brought into resonance with the phonon energy.
We show that an energy gap is induced in graphene by light-matter coupling to a circularly polarized photon mode in a cavity. Using many-body perturbation theory we compute the electronic spectra which exhibit photon-dressed sidebands akin to Floquet sidebands for laser-driven materials. In contrast with Floquet topological insulators, in which a strictly quantized Hall response is induced by light only for off-resonant driving in the high-frequency limit, the photon-dressed Dirac fermions in the cavity show a quantized Hall response characterized by an integer Chern number. Specifically for g…
For a semiconductor quantum dot strongly coupled to a microcavity, we theoretically investigate phonon-assisted transitions from the exciton to a cavity photon, where the energy mismatch is compensated by phonon emission or absorption. By means of a Schrieffer-Wolff transformation we derive an effective Hamiltonian, which describes the combined effect of exciton-cavity and exciton-phonon coupling, and compute the scattering rates within a Fermi golden rule approach. The results of this approach are compared with those of a recently reported description scheme based on the independent Boson mod…
We study one-dimensional $p$-wave superconductors capacitively coupled to a microwave stripline cavity. By probing the light exiting from the cavity, one can reveal the electronic susceptibility of the $p$-wave superconductor. We analyze two superconducting systems: the prototypical Kitaev chain, and a topological semiconducting wire. For both systems, we show that the photonic measurements, via the electronic susceptibility, allows us to determine the topological phase transition point, the emergence of the Majorana fermions, and the parity of their ground state. We show that all these effect…
Graphene is a novel two-dimensional material with fascinating electrodynamic properties like the ability to support collective electron oscillations (plasmons) accompanied by tight confinement of electromagnetic fields. Our goal is to explore light-matter interaction in graphene in the context of plasmonics and other technological applications but also to use graphene as a platform for studying many body physics like the interaction between plasmons, phonons and other elementary excitations. Plasmons and plasmon-phonon interaction are analyzed within the self-consistent linear response approxi…
We investigate the coupling between a quantized electromagnetic field in a cavity resonator and a Coulomb interacting electronic system in a nanostructure in an external magnetic field. Effects caused by the geometry of the electronic system and the polarization of the electromagnetic field are explicitly taken into account. Our numerical results demonstrate that the two-level system approximation and the Jaynes-Cummings model remain valid in the weak electron-photon coupling regime, while the quadratic vector potential in the diamagnetic part of the charge current leads to significant correct…
Circuit quantum electrodynamics allows spatially separated superconducting qubits to interact via a "quantum bus", enabling two-qubit entanglement and the implementation of simple quantum algorithms. We combine the circuit quantum electrodynamics architecture with spin qubits by coupling an InAs nanowire double quantum dot to a superconducting cavity. We drive single spin rotations using electric dipole spin resonance and demonstrate that photons trapped in the cavity are sensitive to single spin dynamics. The hybrid quantum system allows measurements of the spin lifetime and the observation o…
We demonstrate the effects of cavity quantum electrodynamics for a quantum dot coupled to a photonic molecule, consisting of a pair of coupled photonic crystal cavities. We show anti-crossing between the quantum dot and the two super-modes of the photonic molecule, signifying achievement of the strong coupling regime. From the anti-crossing data, we estimate the contributions of both mode-coupling and intrinsic detuning to the total detuning between the super-modes. Finally, we also show signatures of off-resonant cavity-cavity interaction in the photonic molecule.
We study the resonance fluorescence spectra of a driven quantum dot placed inside a high $Q$ semiconductor cavity and interacting with an acoustic phonon bath. The dynamics is calculated using a time-convolutionless master equation obtained in the polaron frame. We demonstrate pronounced spectral broadening of the Mollow sidebands through cavity-emission which, for small cavity-coupling rates, increases quadratically with the Rabi frequency. However, for larger cavity coupling rates, this broadening dependence is found to be more complex. This field-dependent Mollow triplet broadening is prima…
We investigate the effect of electron-phonon interactions on the coherence properties of single photons emitted from a semiconductor cavity QED system, i.e. a quantum dot embedded in an optical cavity. The degree of indistinguishability, governing the quantum mechanical interference between two single photons, is calculated as a function of important parameters describing the cavity QED system and the phonon reservoir, e.g. cavity quality factor, light-matter coupling strength, temperature and phonon lifetime. We show that non-Markovian effects play an important role in determining the coheren…
We study the fundamental limit on single-photon indistinguishability imposed by decoherence due to phonon interactions in semiconductor quantum dot-cavity QED systems. Employing an exact diagonalization approach we find large differences compared to standard methods. An important finding is that short-time non-Markovian effects limit the maximal attainable indistinguishability. The results are explained using a polariton picture that yields valuable insight into the phonon-induced dephasing dynamics.
We investigate a cavity quantum electrodynamic effect, where the alignment of two-dimensional freely rotating optical dipoles is driven by their collective coupling to the cavity field. By exploiting the formal equivalence of a set of rotating dipoles with a polymer we calculate the partition function of the coupled light-matter system and demonstrate it exhibits a second order phase transition between a bunched state of isotropic orientations and a stretched one with all the dipoles aligned. Such a transition manifests itself as an intensity-dependent shift of the polariton mode resonance. Ou…
By analyzing the many-body problem for non-relativistic electrons strongly coupled to photon modes of a microcavity I derive the exact momentum/force balance equation for cavity quantum electrodynamics. Implications of this equation for the electron self-energy and the exchange-correlation potential of quantum electrodynamic time-dependent density functional (QED-TDDFT) are discussed. In particular I generalize the concept of $Φ$-derivability to construct approximations which ensure the correct momentum balance. It is shown that a recently proposed optimized effective potential approximation f…
Quantum electrodynamics of excitons in a cavity is shown to be relevant to quantum operations. We present a theory of an integrable solid-state quantum controlled-phase gate for generating entanglement of two photons using a coupled nanodot-microcavity-fiber structure. A conditional phase shift of $O(π/10)$ is calculated to be the consequence of the giant optical nonlinearity keyed by the excitons in the cavities. Structural design and active control, such as electromagnetic induced transparency and pulse shaping, optimize the quantum efficiency of the gate operation.
Topological photonics provides a new paradigm in studying cavity quantum electrodynamics with robustness to disorder. In this work, we demonstrate the coupling between single quantum dots and the second-order topological corner state. Based on the second-order topological corner state, a topological photonic crystal cavity is designed and fabricated into GaAs slabs with quantum dots embedded. The coexistence of corner state and edge state with high quality factor close to 2000 is observed. The enhancement of photoluminescence intensity and emission rate are both observed when the quantum dot i…
We demonstrate non-perturbative coupling between a single self-assembled InGaAs quantum dot and an external fiber-mirror based microcavity. Our results extend the previous realizations of tunable microcavities while ensuring spatial and spectral overlap between the cavity-mode and the emitter by simultaneously allowing for deterministic charge control of the quantum dots. Using resonant spectroscopy, we show that the coupled quantum dot cavity system is at the onset of strong coupling, with a cooperativity parameter of 2. Our results constitute a milestone towards the realization of a high eff…
We propose to couple an on-chip high finesse superconducting cavity to the lateral-motion and spin state of a single electron trapped on the surface of superfluid helium. We estimate the motional coherence times to exceed 15 microseconds, while energy will be coherently exchanged with the cavity photons in less than 10 nanoseconds for charge states and faster than 1 microsecond for spin states, making the system attractive for quantum information processing and cavity quantum electrodynamics experiments. Strong interaction with cavity photons will provide the means for both nondestructive read…
Coherent charge-photon and spin-photon coupling has recently been achieved in silicon double quantum dots (DQD). Here we demonstrate a versatile split-gate cavity-coupler that allows more than one DQD to be coupled to the same microwave cavity. Measurements of the cavity transmission as a function of level detuning yield a charge cavity coupling rate $g_c/2π$ = 58 MHz, charge decoherence rate $γ_c/2π$ = 36 MHz, and cavity decay rate $κ/2π$ = 1.2 MHz. The charge cavity coupling rate is in good agreement with device simulations. Our coupling technique can be extended to enable simultaneous coupl…
We present the results of low lying excitation of coupled optical cavity arrays. We derive the Dirac equation for this system and explain the existence of Majorana fermion mode in the system. We present quite a few analytical relations between the Rabi frequency oscillation and the atom-photon coupling strength to achieve the different physical situation of our study and also the condition for massless excitation in the system. We present several analytical relations between the Dirac spinor field, order and disorder operators for our systems. We also show that the Luttinger liquid physics is …
We consider the orientational alignment of dipoles due to strong matter light coupling, for a non-vanishing density of excitations. We compare various approaches to this problem in the limit of large numbers of emitters, and show that direct Monte Carlo integration, mean-field theory, and large deviation methods match exactly in this limit. All three results show that orientational alignment develops in the presence of a macroscopically occupied polariton mode, and that the dipoles asymptotically approach perfect alignment in the limit of high density or low temperature.
A quantum mechanical superposition of a long-lived, localized phonon and a matter excitation is described. We identify a realization in strained silicon: a low-lying donor transition (P or Li) driven solely by acoustic phonons at wavelengths where high-Q phonon cavities can be built. This phonon-matter resonance is shown to enter the strongly coupled regime where the "vacuum" Rabi frequency exceeds the spontaneous phonon emission into non-cavity modes, phonon leakage from the cavity, and phonon anharmonicity and scattering. We introduce a micropillar distributed Bragg reflector Si/Ge cavity, w…
We demonstrate the remote all-optical control of the spontaneous emission (SE) of quantum dots using coupled photonic crystal cavities. By spectrally tuning a Fabry-Perot cavity in resonance with a target cavity, the quality factor and the local density of states experienced by emitters in the target cavity are modified, leading to a change in the SE rate. From the theoretical analysis of the coupled-cavity quantum electrodynamics system, the SE rate change can be higher than the quality factor change due to a reduction of the vacuum field at the emitter's position when the two cavities are br…
A theoretical model for the phonon-mediated off-resonant coupling between a quantum dot and a cavity, under resonant excitation of the quantum dot, is presented. We show that the coupling is caused by electron-phonon interaction in the quantum dot and is enhanced by the cavity. We analyze recently observed resonant quantum dot spectroscopic data by our theoretical model.
We study a generic cavity-QED system where a set of (artificial) two-level dipoles is coupled to the electric field of a single-mode LC resonator. This setup is used to derive a minimal quantum mechanical model for cavity QED, which accounts for both dipole-field and direct dipole-dipole interactions. The model is applicable for arbitrary coupling strengths and allows us to extend the usual Dicke model into the non-perturbative regime of QED, where the dipole-field interaction can be associated with an effective finestructure constant of order unity. In this regime, we identify three distinct …
We propose a realizable architecture using one-dimensional transmission line resonators to reach the strong coupling limit of cavity quantum electrodynamics in superconducting electrical circuits. The vacuum Rabi frequency for the coupling of cavity photons to quantized excitations of an adjacent electrical circuit (qubit) can easily exceed the damping rates of both the cavity and the qubit. This architecture is attractive both as a macroscopic analog of atomic physics experiments and for quantum computing and control, since it provides strong inhibition of spontaneous emission, potentially le…
We present measurements at millikelvin temperatures of the microwave-frequency acoustic properties of a crystalline silicon nanobeam cavity incorporating a phononic bandgap clamping structure for acoustic confinement. Utilizing pulsed laser light to excite a co-localized optical mode of the nanobeam cavity, we measure the dynamics of cavity acoustic modes with single-phonon sensitivity. Energy ringdown measurements for the fundamental $5$~GHz acoustic mode of the cavity shows an exponential increase in phonon lifetime versus number of periods in the phononic bandgap shield, increasing up to $τ…
Solid-state emitters are excellent candidates for developing integrated sources of single photons. Yet, phonons degrade the photon indistinguishability both through pure dephasing of the zero-phonon line and through phonon-assisted emission. Here, we study theoretically and experimentally the indistinguishability of photons emitted by a semiconductor quantum dot in a microcavity as a function of temperature. We show that a large coupling to a high quality factor cavity can simultaneously reduce the effect of both phonon-induced sources of decoherence. It first limits the effect of pure dephasi…
Quantum confinement leads to the formation of discrete electronic states in quantum dots. Here we probe electron-phonon interactions in a suspended InAs nanowire double quantum dot (DQD) that is electric-dipole coupled to a microwave cavity. We apply a finite bias across the wire to drive a steady state population in the DQD excited state, enabling a direct measurement of the electron-phonon coupling strength at the DQD transition energy. The amplitude and phase response of the cavity field exhibit features that are periodic in the DQD energy level detuning due to the phonon modes of the nanow…
We report resonant Raman spectroscopy of neutral excitons X$^0$ and intravalley trions X$^-$ in hBN-encapsulated MoS$_2$ monolayer embedded in a nanobeam cavity. By temperature tuning the detuning between Raman modes of MoS$_2$ lattice phonons and X$^0$/X$^-$ emission peaks, we probe the mutual coupling of excitons, lattice phonons and cavity vibrational phonons. We observe an enhancement of X$^0$-induced Raman scattering and a suppression for X$^-$-induced, and explain our findings as arising from the tripartite exciton-phonon-phonon coupling. The cavity vibrational phonons provide intermedia…
Light-matter interactions at the single particle level have generally been explored in the context of atomic, molecular, and optical physics. Recent advances motivated by quantum information science have made it possible to explore coherent interactions between photons trapped in superconducting cavities and superconducting qubits. Spins in semiconductors can have exceptionally long spin coherence times and can be isolated in silicon, the workhorse material of the semiconductor microelectronic industry. Here, we review recent advances in hybrid "super-semi" quantum systems that coherently coup…
A dielectric body couples with electromagnetic fields through radiation pressure and electrostrictive forces, which mediate phonon-photon coupling in cavity optomechanics. In a magnetic medium, according to Korteweg-Helmholtz formula, magnetostrictive forces should arise and lead to phonon-magnon interaction. Here we report such a coupled phonon-magnon system based on ferrimagnetic spheres, which we term as cavity magnomechanics, by analogy to cavity optomechanics. Coherent phonon-magnon interactions, including electromagnetically induced transparency and absorption, are demonstrated. Exciting…
The phonon analog of an optical laser has become the focus of research. We theoretically study phonon laser in a cavity magnomechanical system, which consist of a microwave cavity, a small ferromagnetic sphere and an uniform external bias magnetic field. This system can realize the phonon-magnon coupling and the cavity photon-magnon coupling via magnetostrictive interaction and magnetic dipole interaction respectively, the magnons are driven directly by a strong microwave field simultaneously. Frist, the intensity of driving magnetic field which can reach the threshold condition of phonon lase…
We investigate pump-induced exciton inversion in a quantum-dot cavity system with continuous wave drive. Using a polaron-based master equation, we demonstrate excited-state populations above 0.9 for an InAs dot at a phonon bath temperature of 4K. In an exciton-driven system, the dominant mechanism is incoherent excitation from the phonon bath. For cavity driving, the mechanism is phonon-mediated switching between ground- and excited-state branches of the ladder of photon states, as quantum trajectory simulations clearly show. The exciton inversion as a function of detuning is found to be quali…
A major challenge in quantum optics and quantum information technology is to enhance the interaction between single photons and single quantum emitters. Highly engineered optical cavities are generally implemented requiring nanoscale fabrication precision. We demonstrate a fundamentally different approach in which disorder is used as a resource rather than a nuisance. We generate strongly confined Anderson-localized cavity modes by deliberately adding disorder to photonic crystal waveguides. The emission rate of a semiconductor quantum dot embedded in the waveguide is enhanced by a factor of 1…
We report on simulations of the degree of polarization entanglement of photon pairs simultaneously emitted from a quantum dot-cavity system that demand revisiting the role of phonons. Since coherence is a fundamental precondition for entanglement and phonons are known to be a major source of decoherence, it seems unavoidable that phonons can only degrade entanglement. In contrast, we demonstrate that phonons can cause a degree of entanglement that even surpasses the corresponding value for the phonon-free case. In particular, we consider the situation of comparatively small biexciton binding e…
We present a new approach to incorporate self-assembled quantum dots into a Fabry-Pérot-like microcavity. Thereby a 3$λ$/4 GaAs layer containing quantum dots is epitaxially removed and attached by van der Waals bonding to one of the microcavity mirrors. We reach a finesse as high as 4,100 with this configuration limited by the reflectivity of the dielectric mirrors and not by scattering at the semiconductor - mirror interface, demonstrating that the epitaxial lift-off procedure is a promising procedure for cavity quantum electrodynamics in the solid state. As a first step in this direction, we…
The quantum properties of electromagnetic, mechanical or other harmonic oscillators can be revealed by investigating their strong coherent coupling to a single quantum two level system in an approach known as cavity quantum electrodynamics (QED). At temperatures much lower than the characteristic energy level spacing the observation of vacuum Rabi oscillations or mode splittings with one or a few quanta asserts the quantum nature of the oscillator. Here, we study how the classical response of a cavity QED system emerges from the quantum one when its thermal occupation -- or effective temperatu…
This architecture is attractive for quantum computing and control, since it provides strong inhibition of spontaneous emission, potentially leading to greatly enhanced qubit lifetimes, allows high-fidelity…
We present cavity QED experiments with an Er:YSO crystal magnetically coupled to a 3D cylindrical sapphire loaded copper resonator. Such waveguide cavities are promising for the realization of a superconducting quantum processor. Here, we demonstrate the coherent integration of a rare-earth spin ensemble with the 3D architecture. The collective coupling strength of the Er$^{3+}$ spins to the 3D cavity is 21 MHz. The cylindrical sapphire loaded resonator allowed us to explore the anisotropic collective coupling between the rare-earth doped crystal and the cavity. This work shows the potential o…
Electron-phonon coupling is known to play an important role in the charge dynamics of semiconductor quantum dots. Here we explore its role in the combined charge-photon dynamics of cavity-coupled double quantum dots. Previous work on these systems has shown that strong electron-phonon coupling leads to a large contribution to photoemission and gain from phonon-assisted emission and absorption processes. We compare the effects of this phonon sideband in three commonly investigated gate-defined quantum dot material systems: InAs nanowires and GaAs and Si two-dimensional electron gases (2DEGs). W…
A quantum dot strongly coupled to a single high finesse optical microcavity mode constitutes a new fundamental system for quantum optics. Here, the effect of exciton-phonon interactions on reversible quantum-dot cavity coupling is analysed without making Born-Markov approximation. The analysis is based on techniques that have been used to study the ``spin boson'' Hamiltonian. Observability of vacuum-Rabi splitting depends on the strength and the frequency dependence of the spectral density function characterizing the interactions with phonons, both of which can be influenced by phonon confinem…
Coupled electromechanical resonators that can be independently driven/detected and easily integrated with external circuits are essential for exploring mechanical modes based signal processing. Here, we present a room temperature phonon-cavity electromechanical system, consisting of two distinct resonators: a silicon nitride electromechanical drum capacitively coupled to an aluminum one. We demonstrate electromechanically induced transparency and amplification in a two-tone driving scheme and observe the phonon-cavity force affecting the mechanical damping rates of both movable objects. We als…
Hybrid quantum systems with inherently distinct degrees of freedom play a key role in many physical phenomena. Famous examples include cavity quantum electrodynamics, trapped ions, or electrons and phonons in the solid state. Here, a strong coupling makes the constituents loose their individual character and form dressed states. Apart from fundamental significance, hybrid systems can be exploited for practical purpose, noteworthily in the emerging field of quantum information control. A promising direction is provided by the combination between long-lived atomic states and the accessible elect…
Hexagonal boron nitride (h-BN), a prevalent insulating crystal for dielectric and encapsulation layers in two-dimensional (2D) nanoelectronics and a structural material in 2D nanoelectromechanical systems (NEMS), has also rapidly emerged as a promising platform for quantum photonics with the recent discovery of optically active defect centers and associated spin states. Combined with measured emission characteristics, here we propose and numerically investigate the cavity quantum electrodynamics (cavity-QED) scheme incorporating these defect-enabled single photon emitters (SPEs) in h-BN microd…
This paper gives an overview of recent work on three-dimensional (3D) photonic crystals with a "full and complete" 3D photonic band gap. We review five main aspects: 1) spontaneous emission inhibition, 2) spatial localization of light within a tiny nanoscale volume (aka "a nanobox for light"), 3) the introduction of a gain medium leading to thresholdless lasers, 4) breaking of the weak-coupling approximation of cavity QED, both in the frequency and in the time-domain, 5) decoherence, in particular the shielding of vacuum fluctuations by a 3D photonic bandgap. In addition, we list and evaluate …
We show how to create quantum squeezed states of magnons and phonons in a cavity magnomechanical system. The magnons are embodied by a collective motion of a large number of spins in a macroscopic ferrimagnet, and couple to cavity microwave photons and phonons (vibrational modes of the ferrimagnet) via the magnetic dipole interaction and magnetostrictive interaction, respectively. The cavity is driven by a weak squeezed vacuum field generated by a flux-driven Josephson parametric amplifier, which is essential to get squeezed states of the magnons and phonons. We show that the magnons can be pr…
We show how to generate tripartite entanglement in a cavity magnomechanical system which consists of magnons, cavity microwave photons, and phonons. The magnons are embodied by a collective motion of a large number of spins in a macroscopic ferrimagnet, and are driven directly by an electromagnetic field. The cavity photons and magnons are coupled via magnetic dipole interaction, and the magnons and phonons are coupled via magnetostrictive (radiation pressure-like) interaction. We show optimal parameter regimes for achieving the tripartite entanglement where magnons, cavity photons, and phonon…
Understanding the interaction between cavity photons and electronic nanocircuits is crucial for the development of Mesoscopic Quantum Electrodynamics (QED). One has to combine ingredients from atomic Cavity QED, like orbital degrees of freedom, with tunneling physics and strong cavity field inhomogeneities, specific to superconducting circuit QED. It is therefore necessary to introduce a formalism which bridges between these two domains. We develop a general method based on a photonic pseudo-potential to describe the electric coupling between electrons in a nanocircuit and cavity photons. In t…
The mechanical properties of light have found widespread use in the manipulation of gas-phase atoms and ions, helping create new states of matter and realize complex quantum interactions. The field of cavity-optomechanics strives to scale this interaction to much larger, even human-sized mechanical objects. Going beyond the canonical Fabry-Perot cavity with a movable mirror, here we explore a new paradigm in which multiple cavity-optomechanical elements are wired together to form optomechanical circuits. Using a pair of optomechanical cavities coupled together via a phonon waveguide we demonst…
Pump-probe experiments have suggested the possibility to control electronic correlations by driving infrared-active phonons with resonant midinfrared laser pulses. In this work we study two possible microscopic nonlinear electron-phonon interactions behind these observations, namely coupling of the squared lattice displacement either to the electronic density or to the double occupancy. We investigate whether photon-phonon coupling to quantized light in an optical cavity enables similar control over electronic correlations. We first show that inside a dark cavity electronic interactions increa…
