We describe hadronization events, using the AdS/CFT Correspondence, which display many of the qualitative features expected in QCD. In particular we study the motion of strings with separating end points in a back-reacted hard wall geometry. The solutions show the development of a linear QCD-like string. The end points oscillate in the absence of string breaking. We introduce string breaking by hand and evolve the new state forward in time to observe the separation of two string segments. A kink associated with this breaking evolves to the end points of the string inducing rho meson production. We explicitly compute the rho meson production at the end point.
Instanton effects may have implications for hadronization of quark-gluon plasma as it cools. Here we study dispersion relations of mesons in a strongly coupled plasma with an instanton background present. It will be shown that at higher energies the instanton effect diminishes and some comments on the limiting velocity of mesons in the plasma. the profile function of mesons on the gravity side is considered also because of its relevance to energy loss of quark in plasma.
We perform the potential analysis for the holographic Schwinger effect in a deformed $AdS_5$ model with conformal invariance broken by a background dilaton. We evaluate the static potential by analyzing the classical action of a string attaching the rectangular Wilson loop on a probe D3 brane sitting at an intermediate position in the bulk AdS space. We observe that the inclusion of chemical potential tends to enhance the production rate, reverse to the effect of confining scale. Also, we calculate the critical electric field by Dirac-Born-Infeld (DBI) action.
It is known from the work in \cite{Lu:2007bu} of Lu et. al. that the non-supersymmetric charged D3-brane (with anisotropies in time as well as one of the spatial directions of D3-brane) of type IIB string theory is characterized by five independent parameters. By fixing one of the parameters and zooming into a particular region of space-time we construct a four parameter family of solution in AdS$_5$, which interpolates between AdS$_5$ black hole and AdS$_5$ soliton (when one of spatial directions in the Poincare coordinates is compact) by continuously changing the parameters (there is no need…
We calculate the $a_1$ meson-nucleon coupling constant in the framework of soft-wall and hard-wall AdS/QCD models. In the bulk of AdS space were written bulk interaction Lagrangians for a minimal gauge coupling, a magnetic gauge coupling and a triple coupling. To use AdS/CFT correspondence and these bulk interaction Lagrangians we calculate the $a_1$ axial-vector meson-nucleon coupling constant in the boundary of AdS space within both models. We observe that the numerical values for the $g_{a_1 NN}$ coupling constant in the framework of both models are more close to the experimental value than…
We discuss the phenomenon of (inverse) magnetic catalysis for both the deconfinement and chiral transition. We discriminate between the hard and soft wall model, which we suitably generalize to include a magnetic field. Our findings show a critical deconfinement temperature going down, in contrast with the chiral restoration temperature growing with increasing magnetic field. This is at odds with contemporary lattice data, so the quest for a holographic QCD model capable of capturing inverse magnetic catalysis in the chiral sector remains open.
In the framework of the soft-wall model of AdS/QCD we calculated the $ρ$ meson nucleon coupling constant. Bulk-to boundary propagators for the free vector and spinor fields are presented, whose boundary values correspond to $ρ$ meson and to the nucleon respectively. The interaction Lagrangian between these fields is written in the bulk of AdS space and includes magnetic type interactions as well. Using the AdS/CFT correspondence from the bulk interaction action we derived the $g_{ρNN}$ coupling constant in the boundary QCD. We found that the soft-wall model result for the $g_{ρNN}$ constant is…
We investigate the thermodynamics of confnement/deconfinement transition in soft wall model of QCD with Gauss-Bonnet corrections using AdS/CFT correspondence. In bulk AdS space-time the transition is geometric and is known as Hawking-Page transition. The Hawking-Page transition be- tween two geometries, namely charged AdS black hole and thermally charged AdS have been studied with Gauss-Bonnet corrections up-to first order. The Gauss-Bonnet coupling modifies the transition temperature of the system, but qualitative features remain unchanged. We obtain the curves between chemical potential and …
Coleman-de Luccia transitions are spontaneous processes of nucleation of bubbles within metastable gravitational vacua including in their interior a true stable vacuum. From the perspective of lower-dimensional gauged supergravities obtained by truncating Type II and M-theory, these instantonic processes are represented by smooth domain walls featured by de Sitter foliations. These geometries must connect two different AdS vacua in such a way that the wall is defined by an interior and an exterior. We propose a first-order formulation for such radial flows and present two fully backreacted exa…
We construct a new holographic description of QCD using domain wall fermions. The construction consists of probe D7 branes in a D5 brane geometry describing quarks on a 4+1d defect in a 5+1d gauge theory. We then compactify one dimension of the D5 to introduce confinement in the gauge degrees of freedom. In addition we allow a spatial dependent mass term for the D7 brane quarks to isolate chiral fermions on 3+1d domain walls. The D7 world volume fields, when restricted to the domain wall position, provide an AdS/QCD description. We compute the spectrum and compare to data. We include higher di…
We study the temperature dependence of the $a_1$ meson-nucleon coupling constant in the framework of the soft-wall AdS/QCD model with thermal dilaton field. Profile functions for the axial-vector and fermion fields in the AdS-Schwarzschild metric are presented. It is constructed an interaction Lagrangian for the fermion-axial-vector-thermal dilaton fields system in the bulk of space-time. From this Lagrangian integral representation for the $g_{a_1NN}$ coupling constant is derived. The temperature dependence of this coupling constant is numerically analyzed.
We study the holographic QCD in the hadronic medium by using the soft wall model. We discuss the Hawking-Page transition between Reissner-Nordström AdS black hole and thermal charged AdS of which the geometries correspond to deconfinement and confinement phases respectively. We also present the numerical result of the vector and axial vector meson spectra depending on the quark density.
The axial-vector form factor of the nucleons is considered in the framework of hard-wall model of holographic QCD. A new interaction term between the bulk gauge and matter fields was included into the interaction Lagrangian. We obtain the axial-vector form factor of nucleons in the boundary QCD from the bulk action using AdS/CFT correspondence. The momentum square dependence of the axial-vector form factor is analysed numerically.
In this note we solve a minimization problem arising in a recent work of Bolognesi and Tong on the determination of an AdS monopole wall. We show that the problem has a unique solution. Although the solution cannot be obtained explicitly, we show that it may practically be constructed via a shooting method for which the correct shooting slope is unique. We also obtain some energy estimates which allow an asymptotic explicit determination of the monopole wall in a large coupling parameter limit.
Phenomenological AdS/QCD models, like hard wall and soft wall, provide hadronic mass spectra in reasonable consistency with experimental and (or) lattice results. These simple models are inspired in the AdS/CFT correspondence and assume that gauge/ gravity duality holds in a scenario where conformal invariance is broken through the introduction of an energy scale. Another important property of hadrons: the decay constant, can also be obtained from these models. However, a consistent formulation of an AdS/QCD model that reproduces the observed behavior of decay constants of vector meson excited…
We study thermal transitions in a Domain Wall AdS/QCD model. The model is based on the D5/probe D7 system with a discontinuous mass profile which restricts chiral fermions to 3+1 dimensional domain walls. Fluctuations on the domain wall are dual to the quark mass and condensate and reveal the relation between domain wall separation and the quark mass. The massive quarks exhibit a second order thermal, meson melting transition. Witten's multi-trace prescription can be used to interpret these configurations as having a dynamical mass from a Nambu-Jona-Lasinio interaction - here the transition is…
Using numerical and analytic methods, we study quantum tunneling from a Minkowski false vacuum to an anti-de Sitter true vacuum. Scanning the parameter space of theories with quartic and non-polynomial potentials, we find that for any given potential tunneling is completely quenched if gravitational effects are made sufficiently strong. For potentials where $ε$, the energy density difference between the vacua, is small compared to the barrier height, this occurs in the thin-wall regime studied by Coleman and De Luccia. However, we find that other potentials, possibly with $ε$ much greater than…
The soft wall AdS/QCD holographic model provides simple estimates for the spectra of light mesons and glueballs satisfying linear Regge trajectories. It is also an interesting tool to represent the confinement/deconfinement transition of a gauge theory, that is pictured as a Hawking-Page transition from a dual geometry with no horizon to a black hole space. A very interesting tool to analyze stability of general physical systems that are localized in space is the configuration (or complexity) entropy (CE). This quantity, inspired in Shannon information entropy, is defined in terms of the energ…
We investigate the dependence of the $ρ$ meson-nucleon coupling constant on the temperature of the medium using the soft-wall model of AdS/QCD. The finite temperature profile functions for the vector and fermion fields are applied to the model having a thermal dilaton field. The interaction Lagrangian in the bulk between these fields is written as in zero temperature case and includes minimal- and magnetic-type interactions. The temperature dependence of the $g_{ρNN}(T)$ coupling constant and its terms are plotted. We observe that the coupling constant and its separate terms become zero at the…
Magnetic effects on chiral phase transition have been investigated in a modified soft-wall AdS/QCD model, in which the dilaton field is taken to be negative at the ultraviolet region and positive at the infrared region as in Phys.Rev.D93(2016),101901 and JHEP1604(2016)036. The magnetic field is introduced into the background geometry by solving the Einstein-Maxwell system. After embedding the magnetized background geometry into the modified soft-wall model, the magnetic field dependent behavior of chiral condensate is worked out numerically. It is found that, in the chiral limit, the chiral ph…
Finite isospin chemical potential $μ_I$ and temperature $T$ have been introduced in the framework of soft-wall AdS/QCD model. By self-consistently solve the equation of motion, we obtain the phase boundary of pion condensation phase, across which the system undergoes a phase transition between pion condensation phase and normal phase. Comparing the free energy of solutions with and without pion condensation, we find that the phase transition is of first order type both at large $μ_I$ and small $μ_I$. Qualitatively, the behavior at large $μ_I$ is in agreement with the lattice simulation in Phys…
We consider an analysis of potentials related to Schrödinger-type equations for scalar fields in a 5D AdS black hole background with dilaton in order to get melting temperatures for different hadrons in a thermal bath. The approach does not consider calculations of spectral functions and it is easy to get results for hadrons with an arbitrary number of constituents. We present results for scalar mesons, glueballs, hybrid mesons and tetraquarks, and we show that mesons are more resistant to being melted in a thermal bath than other scalar hadrons, and in general the melting temperature increase…
We study a mass splitting of light vector, axial-vector and pseudoscalar mesons in isospin medium in the framework of hard-wall model. We write an effective mass definition for the interacting gauge fields and scalar field introduced in gauge field theory in the bulk of AdS space-time. Relying on holographic duality we obtain a formula for the effective mass of a boundary meson in terms of derivative operator over the extra bulk coordinate. The effective mass found in this way coincides with the one obtained from finding of poles of the two-point correlation function. In order to avoid introdu…
We analyze light vector and scalar meson mass spectra using a novel approach where a modified soft wall model with a UV-cutoff is considered. Including this cutoff introduces an extra energy scale. For this model, we found that the masses for the scalar and vector spectra are well fitted within a very small RMS error for 14 of these states, with non-linear trajectories given by two common parameters, the UV locus $z_0$ and the quadratic dilaton profile slope $κ$. We concluded that in this model the $f_{0}(500)$ scalar resonance cannot be fitted holographycally as a $q\overline{q}$ state since …
We establish an explicit correspondence of Einstein gravity on the squashed spheres that are the $U(1)$ bundles over $\mathbb{CP}^m$ to the Kaluza-Klein AdS gravity on the tori. This allows us to map the Ricci-flat Kerr metrics in odd dimensions with all equal angular momenta to charged Kaluza-Klein AdS black holes that can be lifted to become singly rotating M-branes and D3-branes. Furthermore, we find maps between Ricci-flat gravitational instantons to the AdS domain walls. In particular the supersymmetric bolt instantons correspond to domain walls that can be interpreted as distributed M-br…
