Experiments involving copper-copper collisions at the RHIC-BNL (USA) at energies $\sqrt{s_{NN}}$ = 22.5, 62 and 200 GeV have produced a vast amount of high-precision data which are to be analysed in the light of various competing models in the domain of multiparicle production scenario. We have chosen to analyse here the measured data on the $p_T$ -spectra of various light and non-strange secondaries at various energies mentioned above, some of their very important ratio-behaviours at the various centralities of the collisions and the nuclear modification factors $R_{AA}$ and $R_{CP}$ in the light of a version of the Sequential Chain Model (SCM). The agreements between the measured data and model-based results are generally found to be modestly satisfactory. Besides, our obtained results have also been compared with results based upon two approaches with strong standard model flavour, of which one is purely pQCD-oriented and is forwarded by Vitev.
Some nonperturbative aspects of spin studies at RHIC are discussed and the predictions for single- and two-spin asymmetries are given. Among them are those which emphasize the role of angular orbital momentum in the spin structure of the constituent quarks.
Typically the materialization of high energetic transverse partons to hadronic jets is assumed to occur outside the reaction zone in a relativistic heavy ion collision. In contrast, a quantum mechanical estimate yields a time on the order of only a few fm/c for building up the hadronic wavefunction for jets with typical transverse momenta of pT < 10 GeV as accessible at RHIC facilities. The role of possible elastic or inelastic collisions of these high pT particles with the bulk of hadrons inside the fireball is addressed by means of an opacity expansion in the number of collisions. This analy…
With relation to the RHIC spin program we research the polarization effects in elastic proton-proton scattering at small momentum transfer and in the diffraction dip region. The calculations take into account the Coulomb-hadron interference effects including the additional Coulomb-hadron phase. In particular we show the impact of the form of the hadron potential at large distances on the behavior of the hadron spin-flip amplitude at small angles. The $t$-dependence of the spin-flip amplitude of high energy hadron elastic scattering is analyzed under different assumptions on the hadron interact…
The transverse mass spectra of Omega hyperons and phi mesons measured recently by STAR Collaboration in Au+Au collisions at sqrt(s_NN) = 130 GeV are described within a hydrodynamic model of the quark gluon plasma expansion and hadronization. The flow parameters at the plasma hadronization extracted by fitting these data are used to predict the transverse mass spectra of J/psi and psi' mesons.
We calculate the next-to-leading order QCD corrections to the spin-dependent cross section for single-inclusive hadron production in hadronic collisions. This process will be soon studied experimentally at RHIC, providing a tool to unveil the polarized gluon distribution $Δg$. We observe a considerably improvement in the perturbative stability for both unpolarized and polarized cross sections. The NLO corrections are found to be non-trivial, resulting in a reduction of the asymmetry.
We discuss the saturation of the parton density in heavy ion collisions at RHIC energiesusing a Pomeron approach. Our predictions for the particle density in ion-ion collisions at RHIC energies can be utilized as the background for the observation of possible quark-gluon plasma production.
The yields of dibaryon (Omega-Omega) in relativistic heavy ion collisions, especially at RHIC energies, are estimated by statistical model. The yields of hyperon Omega- and the ratio of dibaryon to Omega are also given.
To extract information about polarized gluon distribution in the proton, charmed hadron, actually Λ_c^+, productions at RHIC experiment are studied. We found that the spin correlation asymmetry between the initial proton and the produced Λ_c^+ is enable us to distinguish parameterization models of polarized gluons.
In this paper we investigate the hadron and photon production at forward rapidities in $pp$ and $pA$ collisions considering two phenomenological models based on the Color Glass Condensate formalism. The predictions of these models for the hadron spectra are compared with the dAu and pp RHIC data and the nuclear modification factor $R_{hA}$ is estimated. Our results demonstrate that the analysis of the transverse momentum dependence of this factor allows to discriminate between the phenomenological models. Furthermore, we predict $R_{hA}$ for photon production at forward rapidities at RHIC and …
Using the unintegrated gluon distribution obtained from numerical simulations of the Balitsky-Kovchegov equation with running coupling, we obtain a very good description of RHIC data on single inclusive hadron production at forward rapidities in both p+p and d+Au collisions. No K-factors are needed for charged hadrons, whereas for pion production a rapidity independent K-factor of order 1/3 is needed. Extrapolating to LHC energies, we calculate nuclear modification factors for light hadrons in p+Pb collision, as well as the contribution of initial state effects to the suppression of the nuclea…
The strong suppression of the $J/ψ$ is studied in the framework of hadronic and quark gluon plasma models. Predictions for RHIC energies are presented.
We study the transverse spectra of hadrons in nearly central $AA$ collisions at RHIC and LHC in a broad transverse momentum range Low-$p_T$ spectra are calculated by using boost-invariant hydrodynamics with initial energy and net-baryon densities from the EKRT pQCD+saturation model. High-$p_T$ spectra are obtained from pQCD jet calculation including the energy loss of the parton in the matter prior to its fragmentation to final hadrons.
We compute the next-to-leading order QCD corrections to the spin-independent and spin-dependent cross-sections for the production of a single-hadron accompanied by an opposite jet in hadronic collisions. This process is being studied experimentally at RHIC, providing a new tool to unveil the polarized gluon distribution Delta g. We perform a detailed analysis of the phenomenological impact of the observable at NLO accuracy and show that the preliminary data by the STAR collaboration confirms the idea of a small gluon polarization in the 0.05<x<0.3 range.
We present results on rapidity and transverse momentum distributions of inclusive charm quark production in hadronic and heavy-ion collisions at RHIC and LHC energies, including the next-to-leading order, $O(α_s^3)$, radiative corrections and the nuclear shadowing effect. We determine the hadronic and the {\it effective} (in-medium) K-factor for the differential and total inclusive charm cross sections. We show that these K-factors have strong $p_T$ dependence. We discuss how measurements of charm production at RHIC and LHC can provide valuable information about the gluon density in a nucleus.
We calculate the yields of a variety of hadrons for RHIC and LHC energies assuming thermodynamical equilibration of the produced minijets, and using as input results from pQCD for the energy densities at midrapidity. In the calculation of the production of partons and of transverse energy one has to account for nuclear shadowing. By using two parametrizations for the gluon shadowing one derives energy densities differing strongly in magnitude. In this publication we link those perturbatively calculated energy densities of partons via entropy conservation in an ideal fluid to the hadron multipl…
The method to simulate the rescattering and energy loss of hard partons in ultrarelativistic heavy ion collisions has been developed. The model is a fast Monte-Carlo tool introduced to modify a standard PYTHIA jet event. The full heavy ion event is obtained as a superposition of a soft hydro-type state and hard multi-jets. The model is applied to analysis of the jet quenching pattern at RHIC.
Yields, rapidity and transverse momentum spectra of $Δ^{++}(1232)$, $Λ(1520)$, $Σ^\pm(1385)$ and the meson resonances $K^0(892)$, $Φ$, $ρ^0$ and $f_0(980)$ are predicted. Hadronic rescattering leads to a suppression of reconstructable resonances, especially at low $p_\perp$. A mass shift of the $ρ$ of 10 MeV is obtained from the microscopic simulation, due to late stage $ρ$ formation in the cooling pion gas.
We calculate the yields of pions, kaons, and $ϕ$-mesons for RHIC and LHC energies assuming thermodynamical equilibration of the produced minijets, and using as input results from pQCD for the energy densities at midrapidity. In the calculation of the production of partons and of transverse energy one has to account for nuclear shadowing. By using two parametrizations for the gluon shadowing one derives energy densities differing strongly in magnitude. In this publication we link those perturbatively calculated energy densities of partons via entropy conservation in an ideal fluid to the hadron…
In order to extract information about behavior of polarized gluons in the nucleon, charmed hadron productions, i.e. D* meson and Lambda_c baryon productions, are studied in polarized pp reactions at BNL-RHIC energy. For these processes, the spin correlation asymmetry D_{LL} between the target proton and the produced charmed hadron, and its statistical sensitivity delta D_{LL} are calculated. From analyses on these processes, we found that the pseudo-rapidity distribution of D_{LL} in the limited transverse momentum region is quite effective for distinguishing the model of polarized gluons as w…
We analyze the single transverse-spin asymmetry (SSAs) for inclusive hadron production in the $pp$ collision at RHIC based on the twist-3 mechanism in QCD. As an origin of SSAs, we take into account of all kinds of pole contributions associated with the twist-3 quark-gluon correlation functions in the polarized proton. By the inclusion of the soft-fermion-pole contribution in addition to the soft-gluon-pole contribution, we find SSAs observed at RHIC are better described for all kinds of mesons. $P_T$-dependence of the asymmetry and the comparison with the FNAL data are also presented.
In the context of general $SU(2)_L\otimes SU(2)_R\otimes U(1)$ models a relatively light W' is still allowed in some scenarios with a heavy right-handed neutrino and a quark mixing matrix $U^R$ close to unity. We explore the consequences of the presence of this new charged current on the parity violating spin asymmetries which could be induced in one-jet inclusive production in polarized proton-proton or proton-neutron collisions. Such measurements could be performed within a few years at the Brookhaven Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC) running part of the time as a polarized hadronic col…
We present our recent results on jet tomography of AA-collisions at RHIC and LHC. We focus on flavor dependence of the nuclear modification factor. The computations are performed accounting for radiative and collisional parton energy loss with running coupling constant.
Within a hadron-string dynamical transport approach (HSD) we investigate the attenuation of high transverse momentum ($\pT$) hadrons as well as the suppression of 'near-side' and 'far-side' jets in $Au+Au$ collisions at invariant energies $\sqrt{s}$ = 200 GeV and $\sqrt{s}$ = 62.4 GeV in comparison to the data available from the Relativistic Heavy-Ion Collider (RHIC). From our transport studies we find that a significant part of the high $\pT$ hadron attenuation seen experimentally can be attributed to inelastic interactions of 'leading' pre-hadrons with the dense hadronic environment. In addi…
From Pythia simulations of pp collisions we determine the mean transverse momentum <Pt> of partons producing the leading and associated particles studied in di-hadron correlations. The dependence of <Pt> on the associated particle transverse momentum and expected differences at RHIC and LHC centre of mass energies are discussed.
We analyze the centrality dependence of thermal parameters describing hadron multiplicities, hadron spectra and dilepton spectra in heavy-ion collisions at SPS and RHIC energies.
Spin-dependent pomeron effects are analyzed for elastic $pp$ scattering and calculations for spin-dependent differential cross sections, analyzing power and double-spin correlation parameters are carried out for the energy range of the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC) at BNL. In this energy range, $50 \leq \sqrt{s} \leq 500 \gev$, the structure of pomeron-proton coupling can be measured at RHIC with colliding polarized proton beams.
An exact analytical solution to the Balitsky-Kovchegov equation is proposed incorporating Mellin transformation with saddle point approximation. The theoretical significance of this solution is its simplicity in form which requires very less number of parameters. Using this solution along with the idea of color glass condensate, a very good description of RHIC and LHC data on differential yield is obtained for d-Au, p-p and p-Pb collisions. Quantitative prediction for the nuclear modification factors for p-Pb, Pb-Pb and Xe-Xe collisions relevant for very recent LHC run 2 is yielded.
We investigate the energy dependence of stopping and hadron production in high-energy heavy-ion collisions based on a three-sources Relativistic Diffusion Model. The transport coefficients are extrapolated from Au + Au and Cu + Cu at RHIC energies (sqrt{s_NN)=19.6 - 200 GeV) to Pb + Pb at LHC energies sqrt{s_NN)= 5.52 TeV. Rapidity distributions for net protons, and pseudorapidity spectra for produced charged particles in central collisions are compared to data at RHIC energies, and discussed for several extrapolations to LHC energies.
We investigate the photoproduction of $ρ$ mesons in ultraperipheral heavy ion collisions at RHIC and LHC energies in the dipole approach and within two phenomenological models based on the the Color Glass Condensate (CGC) formalism. We estimate the integrated cross section and rapidity distribution for meson production and compare our predictions with the data from the STAR collaboration. In particular, we demonstrate that the total cross section at RHIC is strongly dependent on the energy behavior of the dipole-target cross section at low energies, which is not well determined in the dipole a…
Considering the magnetic field response of the QGP medium, we perform a systematical study of the chiral magnetic effect(CME), and make a comparison it with the experimental results for the background-subtracted correlator $H$ at the energies of the RHIC Beam Energy Scan (BES) and LHC energy. The CME signals from our computations show a centrality trend and beam energy dependence that are qualitatively consistent with the experimental measurements of the charge dependent correlations. The time evolution of the chiral electromagnetic current at the RHIC and LHC energies is systematically studie…
Transverse spectra are calculated for various types of hadrons stemming from Au Au collisions at $\sqrt{s}=200$ GeV. We utilize a quark recombination model based on generalized Boltzmann-Gibbs thermodynamics for local hadron production at various break-up scenarios.
The spin effects in nucleon-nucleon scattering are calculated in the framework of the dynamic model taking into account interactions at large distances and the strong form factors; the model factorization of the $NN$ amplitude into the spin-dependent hadron-pomeron vertex and high-energy spinless pomeron is obtained. Theoretical predictions for polarization and $A_{nn}$ are made for the diffraction range at the RHIC energies.
The pseudorapidity distribution of centers of dense isolated groups of particles in HIJING model is determined. It can be considered as the background for Cherenkov gluons. If peaks over this background were found in experiment, they would indicate the onset of new collective effects.
Production of open and hidden charm hadrons in heavy ion collisions is considered within the statistical coalescence model. The charmed quark-antiquark pairs are assumed to be created at the initial stage of the reaction in hard parton collisions. The number of these pairs is conserved during the evolution of the system. At the hadronization stage, the charmed (anti)quarks are distributed among open and hidden charm hadrons in accordance with the laws of statistical mechanics. The model is in agreement with the experimental data on J/psi to Drell-Yan ratio in Pb+Pb collisions at SPS. This agre…
We compute the isolated photon production in association with a charged hadron at mid rapidity in $pp$ and $pA$ based on the Color Glass Condensate (CGC) framework of high energy QCD where, for the first time, we incorporate the Sudakov effect of soft gluon emissions. Our results are based on the leading order $q g \to q γ$ channel in the CGC framework and confronted with the recent data from RHIC and LHC concerning the angular distributions and out-of-plane transverse momentum distributions. We find that, while the CGC computation alone results in too narrow distributions, with the help of th…
We present a new parton model approach for nuclear collisions at RHIC energies (and beyond). It is a selfconsistent treatment, using the same formalism for calculating cross sections like the total and the inelastic one and, on the other hand, particle production. Actually, the latter one is based on an expression for the total cross section, expanded in terms of cut Feynman diagrams. Dominant diagrams are assumed to be composed of parton ladders between any pair of nucleons, with ordered virtualities from both ends of the ladder.
We compare fully perturbative and fully nonperturbative pictures of high-pT energy loss calculations to the first results from LHC. While over-suppressed compared to published ALICE data, parameter-free pQCD predictions based on the WHDG energy loss model constrained to RHIC data simultaneously describe well the preliminary CMS hadron suppression, ATLAS charged hadron v2, and ALICE D meson suppression; we also provide for future reference WHDG predictions for B meson RAA. However, energy loss calculations based on AdS/CFT also qualitatively describe well the RHIC pion and non-photonic electron…
The midrapidity inclusive densities of different secondaries are calculated in the framework of the Quark-Gluon String Model. The transfer of baryon number in rapidity space due to the gluon string junction propagation leads to a significant effect on the net baryon production. The numerical results are in reasonable agreement with RHIC experimental data.
In this paper, an improved multi-source thermal model is used to analyze the transverse momentum spectra in $pp$ collisions at high energies ranging from $\sqrt{\mathrm{\it s_{NN}}}$ = 62.4 GeV to 7 TeV. We give a detailed comparison between the theoretical results and experimental data at RHIC and LHC energies. It is shown that the excitation factors of emission sources depend linearly on ln$\sqrt{\mathrm{\it s_{NN}}}$ in the framework. Based on the variation regularity of the source-excitation factors, transverse momentum spectra are predicted in $pp$ collisions at higher energies, potential…
This talk will discuss how to compute initial quantites in heavy ion collisions at RHIC (200 AGeV) and at LHC (5500 AGeV) using perturbative QCD (pQCD) by including the next-to-leading order (NLO) corrections and a dynamical determination of the dominant physical scale. The initial numbers are converted into final ones by assuming kinetic thermalization and adiabatic expansion.
We study the production of charmonia and charmed hadrons in nucleus-nucleus collisions at SPS, RHIC, and LHC energies within the framework of the statistical hadronization model. Results from this model are compared to the measured yields and centrality dependence of J/psi production at SPS and RHIC energies. We explore and contrast the centrality dependence of the production of mesons with open and hidden charm at SPS, RHIC, and LHC. The sensitivity of the results to various input parameters is analyzed in detail for RHIC energy.
We show that the QCD color transparency of higher-twist contributions to inclusive hadroproduction cross sections, where baryons are produced directly in a short-distance subprocess, can explain several remarkable features of high-$p_T$ baryon production in heavy ion collisions which have recently been observed at RHIC: (a) the anomalous increase of the proton-to-pion ratio with centrality (b): the increased power-law fall-off at fixed $x_T=2p_T/ \sqrt s$ of the charged particle production cross section in high centrality nuclear collisions, and (c): the anomalous decrease of the number of sam…
In nucleus-nucleus collisions at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC), one generically observes a strong medium-induced suppression of high-pT hadron production. This suppression is accounted for in models which assume a significant medium-induced radiative energy loss of high-pT parent partons produced in the collision. How can we further test the microscopic dynamics conjectured to underly this abundant high-pT phenomenon? What can we learn about the dynamics of parton fragmentation, and what can we learn about the properties of the medium which modifies it ? Given that inelastic parto…
The ultra-relativistic heavy-ion program at RHIC has shown that at intermediate transverse momenta ($p_T \simeq 2$-6 GeV) standard (independent) parton fragmentation can neither describe the observed baryon-to-meson ratios nor the empirical scaling of the hadronic elliptic flow ($v_2$) according to the number of valence quarks. Both aspects find instead a natural explanation in a coalescence plus fragmentation approach to hadronization. After a brief review of the main results for light quarks, we focus on heavy quarks showing that a combined fragmentation and quark-coalescence framework is re…
In the case of elastic high-energy hadron-hadron scattering, the impact of the large-distance contributions on the behaviour of the slopes of the spin-non-flip and of the spin-flip amplitudes is analysed. It is shown that the long tail of the hadronic potential in impact parameter space leads to a value of the slope of the reduced spin-flip amplitude larger than that of the spin-non-flip amplitude. This effect is taken into account in the calculation of the analysing power in proton-nucleus reactions at high energies. It is shown that the preliminary measurement of AN obtained by the E950 Coll…
The structure of hadron-hadron correlations is investigated in proton-proton collisions. We focus on the transmission of the initial transverse momenta of partons (``intrinsic $k_T$'') to the hadron-hadron correlations. Values of the intrinsic transverse momentum obtained from experimental correlations are compared to the results of a model with partially randomized parton transverse momenta at ISR and RHIC energies. Procedures for extracting the correlations from data are discussed.
A kinetic equation approach is applied to model anomalous J/psi suppression at RHIC and SPS by absorption in a hadron resonance gas which successfully describes statistical hadron production in both experiments. The puzzling rapidity dependence of the PHENIX data is reproduced as a geometric effect due to a longer absorption path for J/psi production at forward rapidity.
The properties of strange pseudoscalar and vectors mesons as well as strange baryon resonances in dense matter are reviewed. Some open questions on the properties of strange hadrons in medium are addressed, such as the experimental signatures of in-medium effects coming from the hadronic phase on the final observables in heavy-ion collisions for the experimental conditions at SIS, RHIC and LHC energies.
We study the dependence of parton energy loss (quenching) on rapidity in ultra-relativistic nuclear collisions at RHIC. This can provides invaluable information on the density of the medium, which should be more dilute going away from mid-rapidity, thereby reducing the effect of quenching. We predict a clear effect at moderate transverse momenta $\sim$ 3 GeV.
Based on the hadron transport frames, detailed simulations are carried out to discuss $ϕ$, $Ω$ productions and the significant enhancements in the very low $p_T$ region for some of the soft spectra in RHIC. Elastic interactions are introduced in the simulations. The elastic cross sections vary from different hadrons and energy scales, which can qualitatively explain the different collective motions of various hadrons.
We discuss the recent claim that hadron multiplicities measured at RHIC energies are directly described in terms of gluon degrees of freedom fixed from the initial conditions of central heavy ion collisions. The argument is based on the parton saturation scenario expected to be valid at high parton densities and on the assumption of conserved gluon number. Alternatively we conjecture that "bottom-up" equilibration before hadronization modifies this picture, due to nonconservation of the number of gluons.
We present a good description of recent experimental data on forward di-hadron azimuthal correlations measured in deuteron-gold collisions at RHIC, where monojet production has been observed. Our approach is based on the Color Glass Condensate effective theory for the small-x degrees of freedom of the nuclear wave function, including the use of non-linear evolution equations with running QCD coupling. Our analysis provides further evidence for the presence of saturation effects in RHIC data.
We address the principles governing QGP hadronization and particle production in relativistic heavy-ion collisions. We argue that chemical non-equilibrium is required and show that once this condition is assumed a very good description of hadron production in collider RHIC and at LHC heavy ion experiments follows. We present results of our analysis as a function of centrality. Comparing most extreme experimental conditions we show that only the reaction volume and degree of strangeness phase space saturation change. We determine the universal QGP fireball hadronization conditions.
Theoretical understanding of the observed jet quenching measurements at RHIC and LHC is challenging in QCD because it requires understanding of parton to hadron fragmentation function in non-equilibrium QCD. In this paper, by using closed-time path integral formalism, we derive the gauge invariant definition of the gluon to hadron fragmentation function in non-equilibrium QCD which is consistent with factorization theorem in non-equilibrium QCD from first principles.
The energy dependence of charged-hadron production in proton-proton collisions at RHIC and LHC energies is investigated in a nonequilibrium-statistical relativistic diffusion model (RDM) with three sources for particle production. Calculated charged-hadron pseudorapidity distributions for pp at RHIC energies of sqrt(s) = 0.2 and 0.41 TeV, and at LHC energies of 0.9, 2.36 and 7 TeV are optimized with respect to the available data. Predictions for 14 TeV are made. The central source arising from gluon-gluon collisions becomes the major origin of particle production at LHC energies. The midrapidi…
We systematically compare an event-by-event transport+viscous hydrodynamics hybrid model to data from the RHIC beam energy scan using a general Bayesian method. We demonstrate how the inclusion of multistrange hadron observables affects the outcome of the Bayesian analysis and conduct an in depth analysis of the viability of $ϕ$ and $Ω$ as probes of the transition region between a deconfined quark-gluon plasma and hadronic phase in heavy ion collisions at higher-end RHIC collision energies. Utilizing UrQMD to model the final hadronic interactions, we examine the collision rates of $ϕ$ and $Ω$ …
We perform a complete theoretical analysis of the azimuthal angular correlation of two-hadron productions in the forward $dAu$ collisions at RHIC in the saturation formalism, and obtain a very good agreement with the experimental data. It is demonstrated that the suppression and broadening of the away side peak provide a unique signal for the onset of the saturation mechanism at small-$x$ in a large nucleus. We emphasize that future experiments of di-hadron correlations in $pA$ collisions at both RHIC and LHC, and in $eA$ collisions at the planned electron-ion collider, shall provide us with a…
We modified the gluon saturation model by rescaling the momentum fraction according to saturation momentum and introduced the Cooper-Frye hydrodynamic evolution to systematically study the pseudo-rapidity distributions of final charged hadrons at different energies and different centralities for Au-Au collisions in relativistic heavy-ion collisions at BNL Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC). The features of both gluon saturation and hydrodynamic evolution at different energies and different centralities for Au-Au collisions are investigated in this paper.
In this paper we propose the study of the photoproduction of charmoniumlike states in $pp$ collisions at RHIC and LHC energies and estimate the rapidity distribution and total cross sections for the production of the exotic hadrons $Y(3940)$, $X(3915)$, $Z(4430)$ and $Z_c(3900)$. We demonstrate that the experimental analysis of this process can provide complementary and independent checks on these states, and help to understand their underlying nature.
We present a calculation of Pi, D and B mesons production at RHIC and LHC energies based upon the KKT model of gluon saturation. We discuss dependence of the nuclear modification factor on rapidity and transverse momentum.
