We point out at the peculiarity of B --> mu nu decay, namely the enhancement of the soft photon events which originate from the structure dependent part of the B --> mu nu gamma amplitude. This may be a dominant source of systematic uncertainty and compromise the projected experimental uncertainty on Gamma(B --> mu nu). We show that the effect of these soft photons can be controlled if the experimental cut on identification of soft photons is lowered and especially if the better resolution in identifying the momentum of muon emerging from B --> mu nu, is made. A lattice QCD computation of the relevant form factors would be highly helpful for a better numerical control over the structure dependent soft photon emission.
For the large-angles hard photon emission by initial leptons in process of high energy annihilation of $e^+ e^- \to $ to hadrons the Dirac tensor is obtained, taking into account the lowest order radiative corrections. The case of large-angles emission of two hard photons by initial leptons is considered. This result is being completed by the kinematics case of collinear hard photons emission as well as soft virtual and real photons and can be used for construction of Monte-Carlo generators.
Rare leptonic kaon and pion decays $K^+(π^+) \to μ^+\, ν_μ\, e^+ e^-$ can be used to probe a dark photon of mass ${\cal O}(10)$~MeV, with the background coming from the mediation of a virtual photon. This is most relevant for the 16.7-MeV dark photon proposed to explain a 6.8$σ$ anomaly recently observed in $^8$Be transitions by the Atomki Collaboration. We evaluate the reach of future experiments for different scenarios of how the dark photon couples with the standard model particles, and show that a great portion of the preferred 16.7-MeV dark photon parameter space can be decisively probed.…
In this work, we study the radiative leptonic decays of $B^-$ and $D^-$ mesons using factorization approach. Factorization is proved to be valid explicitly at 1-loop level at any order of $O(Λ_{\rm QCD}\left/m_Q\right.)$. We consider the contribution in the soft photon region that $E_γ \sim \left. Λ^2_{\rm QCD} /\right. m_Q$. The numerical results shows that, the soft photon region is very important for both the $B$ and $D$ mesons. The branching ratios of $B\to γeν_e$ is $5.21\times 10^{-6}$, which is about $3$ times of the result obtained by only considering the hard photon region $E_γ\sim m_…
We present a calculation of the next-to-leading-order electroweak corrections to W+γ production, including the leptonic decay of the W boson and taking into account all off-shell effects of the W boson, where the finite width of the W boson is implemented using the complex-mass scheme. Corrections induced by incoming photons are fully included and find particular emphasis in the discussion of phenomenological predictions for the LHC. The corresponding next-to-leading-order QCD corrections are reproduced as well. In order to separate hard photons from jets, a quark-to-photon fragmentation funct…
We reconsider the QCD predictions for the radiative decay $B\to γ\ell ν_\ell$ with an energetic photon in the final state by taking into account the $1/E_γ, 1/m_b$ power-suppressed hard-collinear and soft corrections from higher-twist $B$-meson light-cone distribution amplitudes (LCDAs). The soft contribution is estimated through a dispersion relation and light-cone QCD sum rules. The analysis of theoretical uncertainties and the dependence of the decay form factors on the leading-twist LCDA $ϕ_+(ω)$ shows that the latter dominates. The radiative leptonic decay is therefore well suited to cons…
The next-to-leading-order electroweak corrections to $pp\to l^+l^-/\barνν+γ+X$ production, including all off-shell effects of intermediate Z bosons in the complex-mass scheme, are calculated for LHC energies, revealing the typically expected large corrections of tens of percent in the TeV range. Contributions from quark-photon and photon-photon initial states are taken into account as well, but their impact is found to be moderate or small. Moreover, the known next-to-leading-order QCD corrections are reproduced. In order to separate hard photons from jets, both a quark-to-photon fragmentation…
We study rare radiative leptonic decays $B_{(s)}\to e^+e^-γ$ and $B_{(s)}\to μ^+μ^-γ$ within relativistic quark model. In addition to previous analysis we give the estimations of the branching ratios for four values of the minimal photon energy, which correspond to photon selection criteria of the Belle and LHCb detectors. We find out that the branching ratios only slightly change. The highest values corresponding to $E^γ_{min}=80 \textrm{MeV}$ are ${\cal B}(\bar B^0_s\to e^+e^-γ)=18.5\times10^{-9}$ and ${\cal B}(B^0_s\to μ^+μ^-γ)=11.9\times10^{-9}$. We present the distribution of the forward-…
With anomalies found in cosmic ray observations and unsolved questions of the Standard Model of particle physics like the discrepancy in the muon's anomalous magnetic moment, the idea of an U(1) extension of the Standard Model arose. This extension allows for the interaction of Dark Matter by exchange of a photon-like massive force carrier $A'$ not included in the Standard Model. We discuss the possibility to constrain the dark photon parameter space by using data taken from rare kaon decays. Therefore we analyze the decay $K\rightarrow μνA'$ as a signal process and calculate the expected Stan…
We present a non-perturbative calculation of the form factors which contribute to the amplitudes for the radiative decays $P\to \ell \bar ν_\ell γ$, where $P$ is a pseudoscalar meson and $\ell$ is a charged lepton. Together with the non-perturbative determination of the virtual photon corrections to the processes $P\to \ell \bar ν_\ell$, this will allow accurate predictions to be made at $O(α_{em})$ for leptonic decay rates for pseudoscalar mesons ranging from the pion to the $B$ meson. We are able to separate unambiguously the point-like contribution, the square of which leads to the infrared…
We present a calculation of the O(alpha_s) QCD corrections to the production of a Z boson in association with two photons and to triple photon production at hadron colliders. All final-state photons are taken as real. For the Z boson, we consider the decays both into charged leptons and into neutrinos including all off-shell effects. Numerical results are obtained via a Monte Carlo program based on the structure of the VBFNLO program package. This allows us to implement general cuts and distributions of the final-state particles. We find that the NLO QCD corrections are sizable and significant…
Adding a hard photon to the final state of a leptonic pseudoscalar-meson decay lifts the helicity suppression and can provide sensitivity to a larger set of operators in the weak effective Hamiltonian. Furthermore, radiative leptonic $B$ decays at high photon energy are well suited to constrain the first inverse moment of the $B$-meson light-cone distribution amplitude, an important parameter in the theory of nonleptonic $B$ decays. We demonstrate that the calculation of radiative leptonic decays is possible using Euclidean lattice QCD, and present preliminary numerical results for $D_s^+ \to …
The QCD$\times$QED factorization is studied for two-body non-leptonic and semi-leptonic $B$ decays with heavy-light final states. These non-leptonic decays, like $\bar{B}^0_{(s)}\to D^+_{(s)} π^-$ and $\bar{B}_d^0 \to D^+ K^-$, are among the theoretically cleanest non-leptonic decays as penguin loops do not contribute and colour-suppressed tree amplitudes are suppressed in the heavy-quark limit or even completely absent. Advancing the theoretical calculations of such decays requires therefore also a careful analysis of QED effects. Including QED effects does not alter the general structure of …
We present a compact form of the leptonic currents for the computation of the processes involving an initial virtual boson (photon, $W^{\pm}$ or $Z_0$). For deeply inelastic scattering, once the azimuthal angle of the plane expanded by the initial- and final-state leptons are integrated over in the boson-proton rest frame, the azimuthal-asymmetric terms vanish, which, however, is NOT true when some physical quantities (such as the transverse momentum of the observed particle) are specified in laboratory frame. The abuse of the symmetry may lead to wrong results.
Electromagnetic effects in the leptonic decay rates $π^+ \to μ^+ ν$ and $K^+ \to μ^+ ν$ are evaluated for the first time on the lattice. Following a method recently proposed in Ref. [1] the emission of virtual photons at leading order in the electromagnetic coupling is evaluated on the lattice and the infrared divergence computed for a point-like meson at finite lattice volume is subtracted. The physical decay rate is then obtained by adding the emission of real and virtual photons regularised with a photon mass. Using the gauge ensembles produced by the European Twisted Mass Collaboration wit…
We present a computation of the O(alpha_s) QCD corrections to W^\pm Z γproduction at the Large Hadron Collider. The photon is considered as real, and we include full leptonic decays for the W and Z bosons. Based on the structure of the VBFNLO program package, we obtain numerical results through a fully flexible Monte Carlo program, which allows to implement general cuts and distributions of the final-state particles. The NLO QCD corrections are sizable and strongly exceed the theory error obtained by a scale variation of the leading-order result. Also, the shapes of relevant observables are si…
We calculate the inclusive decay width of $Υ\to l^+ l^-$. Then we get the ratio $R_{τμ}=Γ[Υ\to τ^+τ^-]/ Γ[Υ\to μ^+μ^-]$ to ${\cal{O}}(α)$ and ${\cal{O}}(α_s^2)$ within the Standard Model(SM). Comparing with the recent Babar's data $R_{τμ}=1.005\pm0.013\pm 0.022$, we find that SM prediction $R_{τμ}$ is not consistent with the experimental data in the error bar. The discrepancy is about $1.25σ$. So leptonic decay of $Υ$ may be a possible signature of New Physics(NP). We present a better approach to test the Standard Model, $R_{τμ}(E_{soft})=.Γ[Υ\to τ^+τ^-+X]/ Γ[Υ\to μ^+μ^-+X]|_{E_X<E_{soft}}$. A…
We study the radiative leptonic decays $P\to\ellν_\ell\,\ell^{\prime\,+}\ell^{\prime\,-}$, where $P$ is a pseudoscalar meson and $\ell$ and $\ell^\prime$ are charged leptons. In such decays the emitted photon is off-shell and, in addition to the "point-like" contribution in which the virtual photon is emitted either from the lepton or the meson treated as a point-like particle, four structure-dependent (SD) form factors contribute to the amplitude. We present a strategy for the extraction of the SD form factors and implement it in an exploratory lattice computation of the decay rates for the f…
I discuss the two-particle subleading power corrections in radiative leptonic $B \to γ\ell ν$ decay at next-to-leading order in $α_s$ with the dispersion approach. Employing the method of regions, factorization of the $B \to γ^{\ast}$ form factors is demonstrated explicitly, at one loop, for a space-like hard-collinear photon. The two-particle soft (end-point) contribution is shown to be suppressed by one power of $Λ/m_b$, in the heavy quark limit, compared with the leading power contribution computed from QCD factorization. I further report the recent calculation on the three-particle sublead…
The computation of the NLO QCD corrections to the cross sections for W+W- gamma and ZZgamma production in hadronic collisions is presented. We consider the case of a real photon in the final state, but include full leptonic decays of the W and Z bosons. Numerical results for the LHC and the Tevatron are obtained through a fully flexible parton level Monte Carlo based on the structure of the VBFNLO program, allowing an easy implementation of arbitrary cuts and distributions. We show the dependence on scale variations of the integrated cross sections and provide evidence that NLO QCD corrections…
We obtain predictions for $B_{(s)}\to e^+e^-γ$ and $B_{(s)}\to μ^+μ^-γ$ decays. All the contributions containing long-distance QCD effects are calculated in the framework of relativistic quark model. The contributions of the light vector-meson resonances related to the virtual photon emission from valence quarks of the $B$-meson are included. The highest branching ratios for the radiative leptonic B-decays are ${\cal B}(\bar B^0_s\to e^+e^-γ)=18.8\times10^{-9}$ and ${\cal B}(B^0_s\to μ^+μ^-γ)=12.2\times10^{-9}$. We also give the distribution of the foward-backward asymmetry.
Applying the method of light-cone sum rules with photon distribution amplitudes, we compute the subleading-power correction to the radiative leptonic $B \to γ\ell ν$ decay, at next-to-leading order in QCD for the twist-two contribution and at leading order in $α_s$ for the higher-twist contributions, induced by the hadronic component of the collinear photon. The leading-twist hadronic photon effect turns out to preserve the symmetry relation between the two $B \to γ$ form factors due to the helicity conservation, however, the higher-twist hadronic photon corrections can yield symmetry-breaking…

We derive the corrections induced by the W-boson propagator to the differential rates of the leptonic decay of a polarized muon and tau lepton. Results are presented both for decays inclusive of inner bremsstrahlung as well as for radiative ones, when a photon emitted in the decay process is measured. The numerical effect of these corrections is discussed. The definition of the Fermi constant is briefly reviewed.
The clockwork is an extra-dimensional set-up for generating light particles with exponentially suppressed or hierarchical couplings of light particles with N massive states having comparable masses near the threshold scale of the mechanism in theories which contain no small parameters at the fundamental level. We explore the prospect of charged lepton flavour violation (cLFV) in a clockwork framework which encompasses Dirac mass terms as well as Majorana mass terms for the new clockwork fermions. We deive the masses of the non zero clockwork Majorana masses, and new particles in a clockwork fr…
A recent work combined the popular left-right parity (LR) and Peccei-Quinn (PQ) symmetries to explain the alignment in quark masses. Since axions may not exist, we break PQ softly and discover a new solution to the strong CP problem. Remarkably, since the soft PQ breaking terms respect parity, the strong CP phase is absent at tree-level, while $\barθ \gtrsim 7 \times 10^{-11}$ is generated in two loops. Thus a neutron electric dipole moment close to the current experimental bound is predicted, making the theory falsifiable, even if the scale of new physics is well beyond the reach of colliders…
We present a preliminary non-perturbative lattice calculation of the form factors entering the processes $K\to \ell\,ν_\ell\,\ell'^+\,\ell'^-$ and of the corresponding branching ratios. These form factors describe the interaction between the mediating virtual photon and the internal hadronic structure of the meson. By separating them from the point-like contribution to the matrix element we are able to isolate and reconstruct the structure-dependent contribution to the decay width. Our numerical analysis employs only one gauge ensemble and so it is affected by systematic uncertainties due to t…
