In the context of a warped extra-dimension with Standard Model fields in the bulk, we obtain the general flavor structure of the Higgs couplings to fermions. These couplings will be generically misaligned with respect to the fermion mass matrix, producing large and potentially dangerous flavor changing neutral currents (FCNC's). As recently pointed out in [arXiv:0906.1542], a similar effect is expected from the point of view of a composite Higgs sector, which corresponds to a 4D theory dual to the 5D setup by the AdS-CFT correspondence. We also point out that the effect is independent of the geographical nature of the Higgs (bulk or brane localized), and specifically that it does not go away as the Higgs is pushed towards the IR boundary. The FCNC's mediated by a light enough Higgs (specially their contribution to $ε_K$) could become of comparable size as the ones coming from the exchange of Kaluza-Klein (KK) gluons. Moreover, both sources of flavor violation are complementary since they have inverse dependence on the 5D Yukawa couplings, such that we cannot decouple the flavor violation effects by increasing or decreasing these couplings. We also find that for KK scales of a few TeV, the Higgs couplings to third generation fermions could experience suppressions of up to 40% while the rest of diagonal couplings would suffer much milder corrections. Potential LHC signatures like the Higgs flavor violating decays $h\toμτ$ or $h\to tc$, or the exotic top decay channel $t\to c h$, are finally addressed.
We recently proposed a spontaneous A4 flavor symmetry breaking scheme implemented in a warped extra dimensional setup to explain the observed pattern of quark and lepton masses and mixings. The quark mixing is induced by bulk A4 flavons mediating "cross-brane" interactions and a "cross-talk" between the quark and neutrino sectors. In this work we explore the phenomenology of RS-A4 and systematically obtain bounds on the Kaluza-Klein (KK) mass scale implied by flavor changing neutral current (FCNC) processes. In particular, we study the constraints arising from Re(ε'/ε_K), b->sγ, the neutron ED…
In the supersymmetric models with nontrivial flavour structure in the soft-breaking sector the exchange of neutral Higgses mediates $ΔF=2$ transitions. This mechanism is studied for $ΔS, ΔB=2$ processes and for a generic form of the soft-breaking terms. We find that Higgs-mediated FCNC amplitudes increase very rapidly with $\tanβ$ and can exceed $SUSY$ box contribution by up to two orders of magnitude when $\tanβ\sim m_t/m_b$.
Rare B meson decays mediated by flavour changing neutral current (FCNC) transition play interesting role to probe the flavour sector of the standard model (SM). Generally at the tree level, FCNC processes are not allowed in the SM but occurs at the loop levels. This gives an excellent hunting ground for new physics (NP). From various experimental studies it is found that the FCNC processes having quark level transition $b \to s$ are challenging. Here, we investigate different kinematic observables like forward-backward asymmetry, differential branching ratio and lepton polarization asymmetry f…
We analyze the effect of the non-universal $Z$ boson in the rare decays $B_s \to l^+ l^- $, $B_s \to l^+ l^- γ$ and $Z \to b \bar s$ decays. These decays involve the FCNC mediated $ b \to s $ transitions, and are found to be very small in the standard model. The smallness of these decays in the standard model makes them sensitive probe for new physics. We find an enhancement of at least an order in these branching ratios because of the non-universal $Zbs$ coupling.
We study the effect of the FCNC mediated $Z$ boson in the rare semileptonic baryonic decays $Λ_b \to Λl^+ l^-$. We consider the model where the standard model fermion sector is extended by an extra vector like down quark, as a consequence of which it allows CP violating Z mediated flavor changing neutral current at the tree level. We find that due to this non-universal $Zbs $ coupling, branching ratios of the rare semileptonic $Λ_b$ decays are enhanced reasonably from their corresponding standard model values and the zero point of the forward backward asymmetry for $Λ_b \to Λμ^+ μ^-$ is shifte…
We derive the general resummed effective Lagrangian for Higgs-mediated flavour-changing neutral-current (FCNC) interactions in the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM), without resorting to particular assumptions that rely on the squark-mass or the quark-Yukawa structure of the theory. In our derivation we also include the possibility of explicit CP violation through the Cabibbo--Kobayashi--Maskawa mixing matrix and soft supersymmetry-breaking mass terms. The advantages of our resummed FCNC effective Lagrangian are explicitly demonstrated within the context of phenomenologically motiva…
The models based on $SU(3)_C\times SU(3)_L\times U(1)_X$ gauge symmetry (331-models) have been advocated to explain the number of fermion families. These models place one quark family to a different representation than the other two. The traditional 331-models are plagued by scalar mediated quark flavour changing neutral currents (FCNC) at tree-level. So far there has been no concrete mechanisms to suppress these FCNCs in 331-models. Recently it has been shown that the Froggatt-Nielsen mechanism can be incorporated into the 331-setting in an economical fashion (FN331-model). The FN331-model ex…
We present results of our study of tan(beta)-enhanced loop corrections in the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM) with Minimal Flavour Violation (MFV). We demonstrate that these corrections induce flavour changing neutral current (FCNC) gluino couplings which have a large impact on the Wilson coefficient C_8 of the chromomagnetic operator. To illustrate the phenomenological consequences of this gluino-squark contribution to C_8, we briefly discuss its effect on the mixing-induced CP asymmetry in the decay B_d -> phi K_S.
The flavor changing neutral current (FCNC) transitions t --> q'H and t --> q'V_i (V_i=γ, g, Z) are studied in the context of the effective Lagrangian approach. We focus on the scenario in which these decays are predominantly induced by new physics effects arising from the Yukawa sector extended with dimension-six SU_L(2) X U_Y(1)-invariant operators, which generate the most general CP-even and CP-odd tq'H vertex at the tree level. For the unknown coefficients, we assume a slightly modified version of the Cheng-Sher ansatz. We found that the branching ratio for the Higgs-mediated FCNC t--> q'V_…
We study the rare semileptonic and radiative leptonic B_s decays in the universal extra dimension model. In this scenario, with a single extra dimension, there exists only one new parameter beyond those of the standard model, which is the inverse of the compactification radius R. We find that with the additional contributions due to the KK modes the branching ratios of the rare B_s decays are enhanced from their corresponding standard model values and the zero point of the forward backward asymmetries are shifted towards the left.
We compare the effectiveness of two hypotheses, Natural Flavour Conservation (NFC) and Minimal Flavour Violation (MFV), in suppressing the strength of flavour-changing neutral-currents (FCNCs) in models with more than one Higgs doublet. We show that the MFV hypothesis, in its general formulation, is more stable in suppressing FCNCs than the hypothesis of NFC alone when quantum corrections are taken into account. The phenomenological implications of the two scenarios are discussed analysing meson-antimeson mixing observables and the rare decays B -> mu+ mu-. We demonstrate that, introducing fla…
QCD corrections are evaluated to FCNC processes like $B \to X_s ν\barν$, $K \to πν\barν$, $B \to l^+ l^-$ or $K_L \to μ^+ μ^-$, i.e. to processes mediated by effective operators containing neutrino currents or axial leptonic currents. Such operators originate from $W$-box and $Z$-penguin diagrams in the Standard Model. QCD corrections to them are given by two-loop diagrams. We confirm results for those diagrams which are already present in the literature. However, our analytical expressions for the Wilson coefficients disagree, due to a subtlety in regulating spurious IR divergences. The numer…
We study the three body lepton flavor violating (LFV) decays $μ^- \to e^- e^+ e^-$, $τ^- \to l_i^- l_j^+ l_j^-$ and the semileptonic decay $τ\to μϕ$ in the flavor changing neutral current (FCNC) mediated $Z$ boson model. We also calculate the branching ratios for LFV leptonic B decays, $B_{d,s} \to μe$, $B_{d,s} \to τe$, $B_{d,s} \to τμ$ and the conversion of muon to electron in Ti nucleus. The new physics parameter space is constrained by using the experimental limits on $μ^- \to e^- e^+ e^-$ and $τ^- \to μ^- μ^+ μ^-$. We find that the branching ratios for $τ\to eee $ and $τ\to μϕ$ processes …
We construct realistic supergravity models where supersymmetry breaking arises from the $D$-terms of an anomalous $U(1)$ gauge symmetry broken at the Planck scale. The model has the attractive feature that the gaugino masses, the $A$ and $B$ terms and the mass splittings between the like-charged squarks of the first two generations compared to their average masses are all suppressed. As a result, the electric dipole moment of the neutron as well as the flavor changing neutral current effects are predicted to be naturally small. These models predict naturally the expected value of the $μ$-term …
In the most general two-Higgs doublet model (generally referred to as Model III), tree level flavor changing neutral couplings exist. It has been noted that the most natural value for such a coupling is of the order of the geometric mean of the Yukawa couplings of the two fermions. Bounds on those couplings that involve the second and third generations, from $τ,B,D$ and $μ$ physics, are very weak and are not sensitive to this "natural" value. In this paper, it is pointed out that the process μμ---> μτ, at a muon collider tuned to the scalar resonance, will easily reach this sensitivity if the …
We study the effect of both Z and Z'-mediated flavor-changing neutral currents (FCNCs) on the $ lambda_b arrow lambda l^+l^- (l = mu, tau) $ rare decay. We find the branching ratio is reasonably enhanced from its standard model value due to the effect of both Z and Z'-mediated FCNCs, and gives the possibility of new physics beyond the standard model. The contribution of Z'-boson depends upon the precise value of the mass of Z' boson.
We propose an alternative method of constructing two Higgs-doublet models free from scalar mediated FCNC couplings at the tree-level. In a toy scenario, we have presented semi realistic textures for the Yukawa matrices, which can reproduce the approximate flavor structure in the quark sector. Presence of flavor diagonal but nonuniversal Yukawa couplings emerges as a distinguishing feature of such models.
The Higgs mediated flavor violating bottom-strange quarks transitions induced at the one-loop level by a nondiagonal $Hbs$ coupling are studied within the context of an effective Yukawa sector that comprises $SU_L(2)\times U_Y(1)$-invariant operators of up to dimension-six. The most recent experimental result on $B\to X_sγ$ with hard photons is employed to constraint the $Hbs$ vertex, which is used to estimate the branching ratio for the $B_s\to γγ$ decay. It is found that the $B_s\to γγ$ decay can reach a branching ratio of the order of $4\times 10^{-8}$, which is 2 orders of magnitude more s…
We consider FCNC and CP violating processes mediated by gluino exchange in generalized supersymmetric theories. We present the constraints on flavour (F) changing squark mass terms at the electroweak energy scale, focusing our analysis on $ΔF = 2$ transitions. Results are also given for $ΔF = 1$ CP conserving processes both in the hadronic and leptonic sectors, while we limit ourselves to some remarks on the relevance of box diagrams in the evaluation of $ε^{\prime}/ε$.
We discuss how, in the presence of higher-dimensional operators, the Standard Model (SM) fermion masses can be misaligned in flavor space with the Yukawa couplings to the Higgs boson, even with only one Higgs doublet. Such misalignment results in flavor-violating couplings to the Higgs and hence flavor-changing neutral current (FCNC) processes from tree-level Higgs exchange. We perform a model-independent analysis of such an effect. Specializing to the framework of a composite Higgs with partially composite SM gauge and fermion fields, we show that the constraints on the compositeness scale im…
We analyze the production and subsequent decay of the neutral Higgs bosons of the MSSM into electrically neutral quark pairs qq'=bs,tc of different flavors at the LHC and compare with the direct FCNC production mechanisms. The cross-sections are computed in the unconstrained MSSM with minimal flavor-mixing sources and taking into account the stringent bounds from radiative B-meson decays. We extend the results previously found for these FCNC processes, which are singularly uncommon in the SM. Specifically, we report here on the SUSY-EW contribution of the Higgs-mediated FCNC cross-section into…
We consider the standard model with two Higgs doublets with the most general Yukawa coupling terms (``type III''). In the model, the neutral-Higgs-mediated flavor-changing neutral currents (FCNC's) are allowed, but must be reasonably suppressed at low energies of probes. It has been known that the existing hierarchies of quark masses render this suppression at low energies rather natural. On the other hand, the model has been regarded by many as unnatural because of the absence of any symmetry that would ensure persistence of this suppression as the energy of probes increases. The opinion has …
The most general two-Higgs doublet model (2HDM) includes potentially large sources of flavor changing neutral currents (FCNCs) that must be suppressed in order to achieve a phenomenologically viable model. The flavor alignment ansatz postulates that all Yukawa coupling matrices are diagonal when expressed in the basis of mass-eigenstate fermion fields, in which case tree-level Higgs mediated FCNCs are eliminated. In this work, we explore models with the flavor alignment condition imposed at a very high energy scale, which results in the generation of Higgs-mediated FCNCs via renormalization gr…
We study constraints and implications of the recent LHCb measurement of ${\cal B}(B_s \to μ^+μ^-)$ for tree-level Higgs-mediated flavor-changing neutral current (FCNC) interactions. Combined with experimental data on $B_s$ mass difference $Δm_s$, the $h \to μτ$, and the $h \to τ^+τ^-$ decay branching ratios from the LHC, we find that the Higgs FCNC couplings are severely constrained. The allowed regions for $B_s \to μτ$, $ττ$ and $h \to sb$ decays are obtained. Current data allow large CP violation in the $h \to τ^+ τ^-$ decay. Consequences of the Cheng-Sher ansatz for the Higgs Yukawa couplin…
We study a simple two Higgs doublet model (2HDM) in the Randall-Sundrum scenario, with an IR brane localized Higgs field and a second doublet arising from a $t\bar{t}$ condensate due to strong Kaluza-Klein gluon effects. The effective 2HDM predicts that the ratio of the brane to condensate vacuum expectation values $\tan β\sim 3$. It also predicts a standard model like Higgs boson of mass ${\mathcal{O}}(100)$ GeV and a heavier scalar at the scale of the lowest KK gluon mass, which we take to be $M_{KK} \gtrsim 1.5$ TeV. The pseudoscalar and the charged scalars are degenerate in mass at tree-le…
We analyse a class of two Higgs doublet models where flavour-changing neutral currents (FCNC) are present at tree level in a mixing-suppressed manner. In this class of models, because of a discrete symmetry imposed on the lagrangian, the FCNC couplings in the quark and lepton sector are fixed in terms of the corresponding mixing matrix (CKM or PMNS), the fermion masses and the ratio $v_2/v_1$ of the vacuum expectation values of the neutral scalars. A large number of processes, including tree and loop level transitions mediated by the new charged or neutral scalars are used as constraints. It i…
We show model-independently that the negative like-sign charge asymmetry $(-A^b_{s\ell})$ is less than $ 3.16\times 10^{-3}$ when the constraints from the $B_q-\bar B_q$ mixings and the time-dependent CP asymmetries (CPAs) for $B_q\to J/ΨM_q$ with $M_q=K,ϕ$ and $q=d,s$ are taken into account. Although the result is smaller than the measured value by the DØ Collaboration at Fermilab, there is still plenty of room to have new physics, which is sensitive to new CP violating effects, as the standard model (SM) prediction is $(2.3_{-0.5}^{+0.6})\times 10^{-4}$. To illustrate the potential large $|A…
In the so called two Higgs doublet model for the top-quark (T2HDM), first suggested by Das and Kao, the top quark receives a special status, which endows it with a naturally large mass, and also potentially gives rise to large flavor changing neutral currents (FCNC) only in the up-quark sector. In this paper we calculate the branching ratio (BR) for the rare decays t->ch and h->tc (h is a neutral Higgs) in the T2HDM, at tree level and at 1-loop when it exceeds the tree-level. We compare our results to predictions from other versions of 2HDM's and find that the scalar FCNC in the T2HDM can play…
Flavour-Changing-Neutral-Currents (FCNC) play an important r\^ ole in testing the Standard Model (SM) while probing the possibility of having New Physics beyond the SM. In the SM, FCNC are forbidden at three level, but arise through calculable one-loop contributions. We review some of the features of FCNC in two examples of minimal extensions of the SM. In the first example, we consider an extension of the SM consisting of the addition of one vector-like quark either of the up-type ($Q=2/3$) or the down type ($Q=- 1/3$). In this extension there are non-vanishing but naturally suppressed Z-medi…
We analyze the production and subsequent decay of the neutral MSSM Higgs bosons (h = h^0, H^0, A^0) mediated by flavor changing neutral currents (FCNC) in the LHC collider. We have computed the h-production cross-section times the FCNC branching ratio, σ(pp -> h -> qq') = σ(pp -> h) B(h -> qq'), in the LHC focusing on the strongly-interacting FCNC sector. Here qq' is an electrically neutral pair of quarks of different flavors, the dominant modes being those containing a heavy quark: tc or bs. We determine the maximum production rates for each of these modes and identify the relevant regions of…
We consider scenarios with a heavy $Z^\prime$ gauge boson with flavour non-universal quark and lepton couplings with the goal to illustrate how the cancellation of gauge anomalies generated by the additional U(1)$^\prime$ gauge symmetry would imply correlations between FCNC processes in the quark sector, in the lepton sector and most interestingly between quark flavour and lepton flavour violating processes. We present scenarios with only left-handed flavour-violating $Z^\prime$ couplings and those with also right-handed flavour-violating couplings. These are characterized by a small number of…
We study the FCNC top quark decays t -> c h in the framework of the MSSM, where h= h^0,H^0,A^0 is any of the supersymmetric neutral Higgs bosons. We include the leading set of SUSY-QCD and SUSY electroweak contributions. While the FCNC top quark decay into the SM Higgs boson has such a negligible rate that will not be accessible to any presently conceivable accelerator, we find that there is a chance that the potential rates in the MSSM can be measured at the high luminosity colliders round the corner, especially at the LHC and possibly at a future LC, but we deem it difficult at the upgraded …
The LHC will have unprecedented sensitivity to flavor-changing neutral current (FCNC) top quark decays, whose observation would be a clear sign of physics beyond the standard model. Although many details of top flavor violation are model dependent, the standard model gauge symmetries relate top FCNCs to other processes, which are strongly constrained by existing data. We study these constraints in a model independent way, using a low energy effective theory from which the new physics is integrated out. We consider the most important operators which contribute to top FCNCs and analyze the curre…
We propose a model of spontaneous CP violation to address the strong CP problem in warped extra dimensions that relies on sequestering flavor and CP violation. We assume that brane-localized Higgs Yukawa interactions respect a U(3) flavor symmetry that is broken only by bulk fermion mass and Yukawa terms. All CP violation arises from the vev of a CP-odd scalar field localized in the bulk. To suppress radiative corrections to theta-bar, the doublet quarks in this model are localized on the IR brane. We calculate constraints from flavor-changing neutral currents (FCNCs), precision electroweak me…
Higgs boson decays mediated by flavor changing neutral currents (FCNC) are very much suppressed in the Standard Model, at the level of 10^{-15} for Higgs boson masses of a few hundred GeV. Therefore, any experimental vestige of them would immediately call for new physics. In this paper we consider the FCNC decays of Higgs bosons into a top quark in a general two-Higgs-doublet model (2HDM). The isolated top quark signature, unbalanced by any other heavy particle, should help to identify the potential FCNC events much more than any other final state. We compute the maximum branching ratios and t…
The top quark flavor changing neutral current (FCNC) process is an excellent probe to search for new physics in top sector since the Standard Model expectation is extremely suppressed. We explore Higgs-mediated top quark FCNC, focusing on $H$-$t$-$c$ Yukawa coupling $λ_{ct}$ within the general two Higgs doublet model. After electroweak symmetry breaking the top quark FCNC couplings are included in the charged Higgs Yukawa sector so that they contribute to various processes in flavor physics. To probe $λ_{ct}$, we study anomalous single top production and the same sign top pair production at th…

We propose a E_6 inspired supersymmetric model with a non-Abelian discrete flavor symmetry; SU(3)_c x SU(2)_W x U(1)_Y x U(1)_X x S_4 x Z_2. In our scenario, the additional abelian gauge symmetry; U(1)_X, not only solves the mu-problem in the minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model(MSSM), but also requires new exotic fields which play an important role in solving flavor puzzles. If our exotic quarks can be embedded into a S_4 triplet, which corresponds to the number of the generation, one finds that dangerous proton decay can be well-suppressed. Hence, it might be expected that the generation st…
We analyse the constraints and some of the phenomenological implications of a class of two Higgs doublet models where there are flavour-changing neutral currents (FCNC) at tree level but the potentially dangerous FCNC couplings are suppressed by small entries of the CKM matrix $V$. This class of models have the remarkable feature that, as a result of a discrete symmetry of the Lagrangian, the FCNC couplings are entirely fixed in the quark sector by $V$ and the ratio $v_2 /v_1$ of the vevs of the neutral Higgs. The discrete symmetry is extended to the leptonic sector, so that there are FCNC in …
Rare decays of the B-meson that arise due to loop-mediated FCNC transitions are known to provide important constraints on beyond-SM theories. Basic properties of several such decays are reviewed here.
We have considered a general 5D warped model with SM fields propagating in the bulk and computed explicit expressions for oblique and non-oblique electroweak observables as well as for flavor and CP violating effective four-fermion operators. We have compared the resulting lower bounds on the Kaluza-Klein (KK) scale in the RS model and a recently proposed model with a metric modified towards the IR brane, which is consistent with oblique parameters without the need for a custodial symmetry. We have randomly generated 40,000 sets of O(1) 5D Yukawa couplings and made a fit of the quark masses an…
We revisit the case of scalar dark matter interacting just gravitationally with the Standard Model (SM) particles in an extra-dimensional Randall-Sundrum scenario. We assume that both, the dark matter and the Standard Model, are localized in the TeV brane and only interact via gravitational mediators, namely the graviton Kaluza-Klein modes and the radion. We analyze in detail the dark matter annihilation channel into two on-shell KK-gravitons, and contrary to previous studies which overlooked this process, we find that it is possible to obtain the correct relic abundance for dark matter masses…
Recently it was shown, within the mass insertion approximation (MIA), that the gluino mediated flavor changing neutral current (FCNC) interactions can saturate both epsilon_K and Re(epsilon'/epsilon_K) even for the real Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa (CKM) matrix through a single CP violating parameter (delta^d_12)_LL. In this work, we extend our previous analysis to the nonvanishing KM phase, and to the effective SUSY model where the MIA is no longer a good approximation. In our model, epsilon_K and B0 - B0 bar mixing can receive significant SUSY contributions. Therefore the usual constraints on r…
In an attempt to simultaneously explain the observed masses and mixing patterns of both quarks and leptons, we recently proposed a model (JHEP08(2010)115) based on the non abelian discrete flavor group A4, implemented in a custodial RS setup with a bulk Higgs. We showed that the standard model flavor structure can be realized within the zero mode approximation (ZMA), with nearly tribimaximal (TBM) neutrino mixing and a realistic CKM matrix with rather mild assumptions. An important advantage of this framework with respect to flavor anarchic models is the vanishing of the dangerous tree level K…
Motivated by the rencent LHC data on the lepton-flavor violating (LFV) decays $h\to \ell_1 \ell_2$ and $B_{s,d}\to \ell_1 \ell_2$, we study the Higgs-mediated flavor-changing neutral current (FCNC) interactions in the effective field theory (EFT) approach without and with the minimal flavor violation (MFV) hypothesis, and concentrate on the later. After considering the $B$ and $K$ physics data, the various LFV processes, and the LHC Higgs data, severe constraints on the Higgs FCNC couplings are derived, which are dominated by the LHC Higgs data, the $B_s - \bar B_s$ mixing, and the $μ\to e γ$ …
Most of the existing analyses of FCNC processes in the 331 models, based on the gauge group SU(3)_C x SU(3)_L x U(1)_X, take only into account tree-level exchanges of a new heavy neutral gauge boson Z'. However due to the Z-Z' mixing also corresponding contributions from Z boson are present that are usually neglected. We calculate the impact of these contributions on Delta F=2 processes and rare K, B_s and B_d decays for different values of a parameter beta, which distinguishes between various 331 models and for different fermion representations under the SU(3)_L group. We find a general expre…
We discuss an extended standard model electroweak sector which contains a stable scalar dark matter particle, the D boson. To search for the D boson at the LHC we exploit the flavor-changing neutral current (FCNC) top quark decay, t->c D D, mediated by the lightest standard model-like Higgs h^0 in a two Higgs doublet model framework. The branching ratio for t->c D D in this case can be as high as 10^{-3}, after taking into account constraints arising from the D boson relic abundance. With an integrated luminosity of 10 (100) fb^{-1}, the 14 TeV LHC can explore values of this branching ratio th…
I review recent progress in theoretical calculations related to the CKM unitarity triangle. After briefly discussing hints for new physics in B_d-B_d-bar mixing and B_s-B_s-bar mixing I present three topics of MSSM flavor physics: First I discuss new tan-beta-enhanced radiative corrections to flavor-changing neutral current (FCNC) amplitudes which go beyond the familiar Higgs-mediated FCNC diagrams and may enhance the mixing-induced CP asymmetry in B_d -> phi K_S. The second topic is a reappraisal of the idea that flavor violation originates from the soft supersymmetry-breaking terms. Finally …
In these proceedings we review the impact of the tauonic $B$ decays $B\toτν$, $B\to Dτν$ and $B\to D^*τν$ on Higgs mediated flavour violation. For this purpose we study a 2HDM with generic flavour structure (of type III). We find that despite the stringent constraints from FCNC processes sizable effects in tauonic $B$ decays are possible if top-related flavour violation is large and that the tensions with the SM predictions can be resolved even when taking into account the recent CMS bounds on $A^0\toτ^+τ^-$.
We consider the process $μ\to ν_{e}e\barν_μ $in the framework of a two Higgs doublet model with flavor changing neutral currents (FCNC). Since FCNC generates in turn flavor changing charged currents in the lepton sector, this process appears at tree level mediated by a charged Higgs boson exchange. From the experimental upper limit for this decay, we obtain the bound $| ξ_{μe}/m_{H^{\pm}}| \leq 3.8\times 10^{-3}$ where$ ξ_{μe} $refers to the mixing between the first and second lepton generations, and $m_{H^{\pm}} $denotes the mass of the charged Higgs boson. This bound is independent on the ot…
The observed flavor-changing neutral-current (FCNC) processes in the standard model (SM) arise from the loop diagrams involving the weak charged currents mediated by the $W$-gauge boson. Nevertheless, the top-quark FCNCs and lepton-flavor violating processes resulting from the same mechanism are highly suppressed. We investigate possible new physics effects that can enhance the suppressed FCNC processes, such as $t\to q(h,V)$ with $V=γ,Z,g$, $h\to \ell \ell'$, and $\ell\to \ell' γ$. To achieve the assumption that the induced-FCNCs are all from quantum loops, we consider the scotogenic mechanis…
Dark matter could have an electroweak origin, yet communicate with the visible sector exclusively through gravitational interactions. In a set-up addressing the hierarchy problem, we propose a new dark matter scenario where gravitational mediators, arising from the compactification of extra-dimensions, are responsible for dark matter interactions and its relic abundance in the Universe. We write an explicit example of this mechanism in warped extra-dimensions and work out its constraints. We also develop a dual picture of the model, based on a four-dimensional scenario with partial compositene…
In these proceedings we review the flavour phenomenology of two-Higgs-doublet models (2HDMs) and connect the results to the decoupling limit of the MSSM. We first study the impact of FCNC constraints on the allowed parameter space of the 2HDM and examine how recent deviations from the SM expectations in tauonic $B$ decays (observed by BABAR) can be explained in a 2HDM with generic flavour structure (of type III) with sizable flavour violation in the up-sector. Afterwards, we discusses the matching of the MSSM on the 2HDM of type III. Here we focus on the two-loop SQCD corrections to the Higgs-…
We propose a viable minimal model with spontaneous CP violation in the framework of a Two Higgs Doublet Model. The model is based on a generalised Branco-Grimus-Lavoura model with a flavoured $\mathbb{Z}_2$ symmetry, under which two of the quark families are even and the third one is odd. The lagrangian respects CP invariance, but the vacuum has a CP violating phase, which is able to generate a complex CKM matrix, with the rephasing invariant strength of CP violation compatible with experiment. The question of scalar mediated flavour changing neutral couplings is carefully studied. In particul…
A supersymmetric extension of the standard model based on the discrete $Q_6$ family symmetry is considered, and we investigate flavor-changing neutral current (FCNC) processes, especially those mediated by heavy flavor-changing neutral Higgs bosons. Because of the family symmetry the number of the independent Yukawa couplings is smaller than that of the observed quantities such as the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix and the quark masses, so that the FCNCs can be parametrized only by the mixing angles and masses of the Higgs fields. We focus our attention on the mass differences of the neutral…
We study the spin-dependence of Dark Matter (DM) particles which interact gravitationally with the Standard Model (SM) in an extra-dimensional Randall-Sundrum scenario. We assume that both the Dark Matter and the Standard Model are confined to the TeV (Infra-red) brane and only interact via gravitational mediators, namely Kaluza-Klein gravitons and the radion. We analyze the different DM annihilation channels and find that it is possible to achieve the presently observed relic abundance of Dark Matter, $Ω_{\rm DM}$, within the freeze-out mechanism for DM particles of spin 0, 1/2 and 1. We stud…
We point out that supersymmetric warped geometry can provide a solution to the SUSY flavor problem, while generating hierarchical Yukawa couplings. In supersymmetric theories in a slice of AdS_5 with the Kaluza-Klein scale M_KK much higher than the weak scale, if all visible fields originate from 5D bulk fields and supersymmetry breaking is mediated by the bulk radion superfield and/or some brane chiral superfields, potentially dangerous soft scalar masses and trilinear $A$ parameters at M_KK can be naturally suppressed compared to the gaugino masses by small warp factor. We present simple mod…
In this thesis we focus on the construction of models in which a supersymmetry breaking hidden sector is located on one fixed point of an extra dimensional interval and the effects are gauge mediated across this interval to the other fixed point where the supersymmetric standard model is located. We use the formalism of current correlators to encode supersymmetry breaking effects and explore flat, warped and deconstructed extra dimensions. We also apply these techniques to models of metastable supersymmetry breaking in N = 1 Supersymmetric Quantum Chromodynamics.
In the context of a warped extra-dimension with Standard Model fields in the bulk, we obtain the general flavor structure of the Radion couplings to fermions and show that the result is independent on the particular nature of the Higgs mechanism (bulk or brane localized). These couplings will be generically misaligned with respect to the fermion mass matrix when the fermion bulk mass parameters are not all degenerate. When the Radion is light enough, the generic size of these tree-level flavor changing couplings will be strongly constrained by the experimental bounds on $ΔF=2$ processes. At th…
