On the Chern number of $I$-admissible filtrations of ideals

Let $I$ be an $\m$-primary ideal of a Noetherian local ring $(R, \m)$ of positive dimension. The coefficient $e_1(\mathcal I)$ of the Hilbert polynomial of an $I$-admissible filtration $\mathcal I$ is called the Chern number of $\mathcal I$. A formula for the Chern number has been derived involving Euler characteristic of subcomplexes of a Koszul complex. Specific formulas for the Chern number have been given in local rings of dimension at most two. These have been used to provide new and unified proofs of several results about $e_1(\mathcal I)$.

The Chern Coefficient and Cohen-Macaulay rings

The purpose of this paper is to investigate a relationship between the index of reducibility and the Chern coefficient for primary ideals. Therefore, the main result of this paper gives a characterization of a Cohen-Macaulay ring in terms of its the index of reducibility, its Cohen-Macaulay type, and the Chern coefficient for parameter ideals. As corollaries to the main theorem we obtained the characterizations of a Gorenstein ring in term of its Chern coefficient for parameter ideals.

Let I be an m-primary ideal of a Noetherian local ring (R,m) of positive dimension. The coefficient $e_1(A)$ of the Hilbert polynomial of an I-admissible filtration A is called the Chern number of A. A note on Chern coefficients and Cohen-Macaulay rings

In this paper, we investigate the relationship between the index of reducibility and Chern coefficients for primary ideals. As an application, we give characterizations of a Cohen-Macaulay ring in terms of its type, irreducible multiplicity, and Chern coefficients with respect to certain parameter ideals in Noetherian local rings.

The Chern numbers of the title are the first coefficients (after the multiplicities) of the Hilbert functions of various filtrations of ideals of a local ring $(R, \mathfrak{m})$. On the set of Chern numbers in local rings

This paper purposes to characterize Noetherian local rings $(R, \mathfrak{m})$ such that the Chern numbers of certain $\mathfrak{m}$-primary ideals in $R$ bounded above or range among only finitely many values. Consequently, we characterize the Gorensteinness, Cohen-Macaulayness, generalized Cohen-Macaulayness of local rings in terms of the behavior of its Chern numbers.
