An equivariant orbifold index for proper actions

For a proper, cocompact action by a locally compact group of the form $H \times G$, with $H$ compact, we define an $H \times G$-equivariant index of $H$-transversally elliptic operators, which takes values in $KK_*(C^*H, C^*G)$. This simultaneously generalises the Baum--Connes analytic assembly map, Atiyah's index of transversally elliptic operators, and Kawasaki's orbifold index. This index also generalises the assembly map to elliptic operators on orbifolds. Orbifold index and equivariant K-homology

We consider a invariant Dirac operator D on a manifold with a proper and cocompact action of a discrete group G. It gives rise to an equivariant K-homology class [D]. We show how the index of the induced orbifold Dirac operator can be calculated from [D] via the assembly map. We further derive a formula for this index in terms of the contributions of finite cyclic subgroups of G. According to results of W. Lueck, the equivariant K-homology can rationally be decomposed as a direct sum of contributions of finite cyclic subgroups of G. Our index formula thus leads to an explicit decomposition of …

Equivariant K-theory of toric orbifolds

Toric orbifolds are a topological generalization of projective toric varieties associated to simplicial fans. We introduce some sufficient conditions on the combinatorial data associated to a toric orbifold to ensure the existence of an invariant cell structure on it and call such a toric orbifold retractable. In this paper, our main goal is to study equivariant cohomology theories of retractable toric orbifolds. Our results extend the corresponding results on divisive weighted projective spaces.

Ramond-Ramond Fields, Fractional Branes and Orbifold Differential K-Theory

We study D-branes and Ramond-Ramond fields on global orbifolds of Type II string theory with vanishing H-flux using methods of equivariant K-theory and K-homology.
