We investigate the Rabi oscillations decay of a spin decohered by a spin bath whose internal dynamics is caused by dipolar coupling between the bath spins. The decay form and rate as a function of the intra-bath coupling is studied analytically, and confirmed numerically. The decay in general has neither exponential/Gaussian or power-law form, and changes non-monotonically with the intra-bath coupling, decelerating for both slow and fast baths. The form and rate of Rabi oscillations decay can be used to experimentally determine the intra-bath coupling strength for a broad class of solid-state systems.
Interaction of traveling wave of classic light with 1D-chain of coupled quantum dots (QDs) in strong coupling regime has been theoretically considered. The effect of space propagation of Rabi oscillations in the form of traveling waves and wave packets has been predicted. Physical interpretation of the effect has been given, principles of its experimental observation are discussed.
Coherent Rabi oscillations between quantum states of superconducting micro-circuits have been observed in a number of experiments, albeit with a visibility which is typically much smaller than unity. Here, we show that the coherent coupling to background charge fluctuators [R.W. Simmonds et al., Phys. Rev. Lett. 93, 077003 (2004)] leads to a significantly reduced visibility if the Rabi frequency is comparable to the coupling energy of micro-circuit and fluctuator. For larger Rabi frequencies, transitions to the second excited state of the superconducting micro-circuit become dominant in suppre…
Carrier dynamics at energy level anticrossings in biased semiconductor superlattices, was studied in the time domain by solving the time-dependent Schroedinger equation. The resonant nature of interminiband Rabi oscillations has been explicitly demonstrated to arise from interference of intrawell and Bloch oscillations. We also report a simulation of direct Rabi oscillations across three minibands, in the high field regime, due to interaction between three strongly coupled minibands.
We present a quantized model of harmonically confined dot atom with inherent damping in the presence of a transverse magnetic field. The model leads to a non hermitian Hamiltonian in real coordinate. We have analytically studied the effects that damping has on the Rabi type oscillations of the system. The model explains the decoherence of Rabi oscillation in a Josephson Junction.
In the approach to the stationary regime, a spaser exhibits complicated and highly nonlinear dynamics with anharmonic oscillations.1 We demonstrate that these oscillations are due to Rabi oscillations of the quantum dot in the field of the nanoparticle. We show that the oscillations may or may not arise dependent on the initial conditions.
We study coherent dynamics in a system of dipolar coupled spin qubits diluted in solid and subjected to a driving microwave field. In the case of rare earth ions, anisotropic crystal background results in anisotropic g tensor and thus modifies the dipolar coupling. We develop a microscopic theory of spin relaxation in transient regime for the frequently encountered case of axially symmetric crystal field. The calculated decoherence rate is nonlinear in Rabi frequency. We show that the direction of static magnetic field that corresponds to the highest spin g-factor is preferable in order to obt…
When a two-level quantum system is irradiated with a microwave signal, in resonance with the energy difference between the levels, it starts Rabi oscillation between those states. If there are other states close, in energy, to the first two, the Rabi signal will also induce transition to those. Here, we study the probability of transition to the third state, in a three-level system, while a Rabi oscillation between the first two states is performed. We investigate the effect of pulse shaping on the probability and suggest methods for optimizing pulse shapes to reduce transition probability.
We have observed Rabi-like oscillations in a current-biased dc SQUID presenting enhanced coherence times compared to our previous realization \cite{Claudon_PRL04}. This Josephson device behaves as an anharmonic oscillator which can be driven into a coherent superposition of quantum states by resonant microwave flux pulses. Increasing the microwave amplitude, we study the evolution of the Rabi frequency from the 2-level regime to the regime of multilevel dynamics. When up to 3 levels are involved, the Rabi frequency is a clear signature of quantum behavior. At higher excitation amplitude, class…
Recent experiments on Josephson junction qubits have suggested the existence in the tunnel barrier of bistable two level fluctuators that are responsible for decoherence and 1/f critical current noise. In this article we treat these two-level systems as fictitious spins and investigate their influence quantum mechanically with both analytical and numerical means. We find that the Rabi oscillations of the qubit exhibit multiple stages of decay. New approaches are established to characterize different decoherence times and to allow for easier feature extraction from experimental data. The Rabi o…
We propose a physical mechanism which enables permanent Rabi oscillations in driven-dissipative condensates of exciton-polaritons in semiconductor microcavities subjected to external magnetic fields. The method is based on incoherent excitonic reservoir engineering. We demonstrate that permanent non-decaying oscillations may appear due to the parity-time (PT) symmetry of the coupled exciton-photon system realised in a specific regime of pumping to the exciton state and depletion of the reservoir. For effective non-zero exciton-photon detuning, permanent Rabi oscillations occur with unequal amp…
Decay of Rabi oscillations of equivalent spins diluted in diamagnetic solid matrix and coupled by magnetic dipole interactions is studied. It is shown that these interactions result in random shifts of spin transient nutation frequencies and thus lead to the decay of the transient signal. Averaging over random spatial distribution of spins within the solid and over their spectral positions within magnetic resonance line, we obtain analytical expressions for the decay of Rabi oscillations. The rate of the decay in the case when the half-width of magnetic resonance line exceeds Rabi frequency is…
Phonon-cavity electromechanics allows the manipulation of mechanical oscillations similar to photon-cavity systems. Many advances on this subject have been achieved in various materials. In addition, the coherent phonon transfer (phonon Rabi oscillations) between the phonon cavity mode and another oscillation mode has attracted many interest in nano-science. Here we demonstrate coherent phonon transfer in a carbon nanotube phonon-cavity system with two mechanical modes exhibiting strong dynamical coupling. The gate-tunable phonon oscillation modes are manipulated and detected by extending the …
We show that the interaction between carriers confined in a quantum dot and the surrounding lattice under external driving of carrier dynamics has a dynamical, resonant character. The quality of Rabi oscillations in such a system depends on the relation between nonlinear spectral characteristics of the driven dynamics and the spectral density of effectively coupled lattice modes (phonon frequencies and density of states). For a large number of Rabi oscillations within a fixed time (allowed by e.g. exciton recombination) the spectrum of the dynamics extends towards high frequencies, coming into…
Motivated by the experiments by Zrenner et al. [Nature 418, 612 (2002)], we study the influence of relaxation processes on converting Rabi oscillations in a strongly biased single-quantum-dot photodiode into deterministic photocurrents. We show that the behavior of a quantum dot with different tunnel rates for electron and holes is qualitatively different from that with the equal tunnel rates: in the latter case the current shows attenuating oscillations with the Rabi frequency. In contrast, for different electrons and holes tunnelling rates, the frequency of these oscillations diminishes, and…
The decay of Rabi oscillations provides direct information about coherence of electron spins. When observed in EPR experiments, it is often shortened by spatial inhomogeneity of the microwave field amplitude in a bulk sample. In order to suppress this undesired loss of coherence, we propose an additional dressing of spin states by a weak longitudinal continuous radiofrequency field. Our calculations of the Rabi oscillations between the doubly dressed spin states show that the maximum suppression of decoherence is achieved at the so-called Rabi resonance when the radio-field frequency is in res…
We study the role of charge fluctuations in the decoherence of Rabi oscillations between spin states |$\uparrow \downarrow$>, |$\downarrow \uparrow$> of two electrons in a double dot structure. We consider the effects of fluctuations in energy and in the quantum state of the system, both in the classical and quantum limit. The role of state fluctuations is shown to be of leading order at sufficiently high temperature, applicable to actual experiments. At low temperature the low frequency energy fluctuations are the only dominant contribution.
Nuclear spin systems in manganites, having separation of ferromagnetic and antiferromagnetic phases, which are manifested as two lines in the NMR spectrum, are studied. Taking into account the Ising nuclear interaction, we obtain an analytical description of Rabi oscillations and free induction decay in two-component nuclear spin systems when a radio-frequency pulse non-resonantly excites the nuclei of one magnetic phase and resonantly the nuclei of the other phase. It is revealed that the nonlinearity of interaction between the nuclei of these phases results in additional harmonics in the Rab…
We study spin dynamics for two electrons confined to a double quantum dot under the influence of an oscillating exchange interaction. This leads to driven Rabi oscillations between the $\ket{\uparrow\downarrow}$--state and the $\ket{\downarrow\uparrow}$--state of the two--electron system. The width of the Rabi resonance is proportional to the amplitude of the oscillating exchange. A measurement of the Rabi resonance allows one to narrow the distribution of nuclear spin states and thereby to prolong the spin decoherence time. Further, we study decoherence of the two-electron states due to the h…
Scaling up qubits is a necessary step to realize useful systems of quantum computation. Here we demonstrate coherent manipulations of four individual electron spins using a micro-magnet method in a quadruple quantum dot - the largest number of dots used for the single spin control in multiple quantum dots. We observe Rabi oscillations and electron spin resonance (ESR) for each dot and evaluate the spin-electric coupling of the four dots, and finally discuss practical approaches to independently address single spin control in multiple quantum dot systems containing even more quantum dots.
We model theoretically the time-dependent transport through an asymmetric double quantum dot etched in a two-dimensional wire embedded in a FIR photon cavity. For the transient and the intermediate time regimes the currents and the average photon number are calculated by solving a Markovian master equation in the dressed-states picture, with the Coulomb interaction also being taken into account. We predict that in the presence of a transverse magnetic field the interdot Rabi oscillations appearing in the intermediate and transient regime coexist with slower non-equilibrium fluctuations in the …
We study theoretically the Rabi oscillations of a resonantly driven two-level system linearly coupled to a harmonic oscillator (vibrational mode) with frequency, ω_0. We show that for weak coupling, ω_p \ll ω_0, where ω_p is the polaronic shift, Rabi oscillations are strongly modified in the vicinity of the Rabi-vibronic resonance Ω_R = ω_0, where Ω_R is the Rabi frequency. The width of the resonance is (Ω_R-ω_0) \sim ω_p^{2/3} ω_0^{1/3} \gg ω_p. Within this domain of Ω_R the actual frequency of the Rabi oscillations exhibits a bistable behavior as a function of Ω_R. Importantly, within the re…
The sensitivity of the Rabi oscillations of a resonantly driven spin-1/2 system to a weak and slow modulation of the static longitudinal magnetic field, B_0, is studied theoretically. We establish the mapping of a weakly driven two-level system with modulation onto a strongly driven system without modulation. The mapping suggests that different regimes of spin dynamics, known for a strongly driven system, can be realized under common experimental conditions of weak driving (driving field B_ 1 << B_ 0) upon proper choice of the domains of modulation frequency, ω_m, and amplitude, B_2. Fast modu…
We study experimentally the oscillations of a non stationary transient signal of a semiconductor microcavity with embedded InGaAs quantum wells. The oscillations occur as a result of quantum beats between the upper and lower polariton modes due to the strong exciton-photon coupling in the microcavity sample (Rabi oscillations). The registration of spectrally resolved signal has allowed for separate observation of oscillations at the eigenfrequencies of two polariton modes. Surprisingly, the observed oscillations measured at the lower and upper polariton modes have opposite phases. We demonstra…
We develop a realistic model of Rabi oscillations in a quantum-dot photodiode. Based in a multi-exciton density matrix formulation we show that for short pulses the two-level models fails and higher levels should be taken into account. This affects some of the experimental conclusions, such as the inferred efficiency of the state rotation (population inversion) and the deduced value of the dipole interaction. We also show that the damping observed cannot be explained using \emph{constant} rates with fixed pulse duration. We demonstrate that the damping observed is in fact induced by an off-res…
We show how the switching-on of an electron transport through a system of two parallel quantum dots embedded in a short quantum wire in a photon cavity can trigger coupled Rabi and collective electron-photon oscillations. We select the initial state of the system to be an eigenstate of the closed system containing two Coulomb interacting electrons with possibly few photons of a single cavity mode. The many-level quantum dots are described by a continuous potential. The Coulomb interaction and the para- and dia-magnetic electron-photon interactions are treated by exact diagonalization in a trun…
We investigate quantum interference effects in a superconducting Cooper-pair box by taking into account the possibility of tunneling processes involving one and two Cooper pairs. The quantum dynamics is analysed in a framework of three-level model. We compute Landau-Zener probabilities for a linear sweep of the gate charge and investigate Rabi oscillations in a periodically driven three-level system under in- and off- resonance conditions. It was shown that the Landau-Zener probabilities reveal two different patterns: "step" and "beats"-like behaviours associated with the quantum interference …
We report on hole g-factor measurements in three terminal SiGe self-assembled quantum dot devices with a top gate electrode positioned very close to the nanostructure. Measurements of both the perpendicular as well as the parallel g-factor reveal significant changes for a small modulation of the top gate voltage. From the observed modulations we estimate that, for realistic experimental conditions, hole spins can be electrically manipulated with Rabi frequencies in the order of 100MHz. This work emphasises the potential of hole-based nano-devices for efficient spin manipulation by means of the…
We propose the quantum simulation of the quantum Rabi model in all parameter regimes by means of detuned bichromatic sideband excitations of a single trapped ion. We show that current setups can reproduce, in particular, the ultrastrong and deep strong coupling regimes of such a paradigmatic light-matter interaction. Furthermore, associated with these extreme dipolar regimes, we study the controlled generation and detection of their entangled ground states by means of adiabatic methods. Ion traps have arguably performed the first quantum simulation of the Jaynes-Cummings model, a restricted re…
Optically-driven Rabi oscillations of single electron spins in a diamond nitrogen vacancy center are realized with two Raman-resonant optical pulses that are detuned from the respective dipole optical transitions. The Rabi oscillations are nuclear-spin selective and are robust against rapid decoherence of the underlying optical transitions, opening the door to generating phonon-mediated spin entanglement in an optically-driven spin-phonon system. A direct comparison between the Rabi oscillations and simulated Raman adiabatic passage along with a detailed theoretical analysis provide a wealth o…
The qubit Rabi oscillations are known to be non-decaying (though with a fluctuating phase) if the qubit is continuously monitored in the weak-coupling regime. In this paper we propose an experiment to demonstrate these persistent Rabi oscillations via low-frequency noise correlation. The idea is to measure a qubit by two detectors, biased stroboscopically at the Rabi frequency. The low-frequency noise depends on the relative phase between the two combs of biasing pulses, with a strong increase of telegraph noise in both detectors for the in-phase or anti-phase combs. This happens because of se…
We study coherent nonlinear dynamics of carriers under ultrafast interband excitation of an intrinsic graphene. The Rabi oscillations of response appear with increasing of pumping intensity. The photoexcited distribution is calculated versus time and energy taking into account the effects of energy relaxation and dephasing. Spectral and temporal dependencies of the response on a probe radiation (transmission and reflection coefficients) are considered for different pumping intensities and the Rabi oscillations versus time and intensity are analyzed.
Ultrafast optical pump of exciton resonance in single quantum dot by an elliptically polarized laser pulse is described by the non-Markov balance equations. Population and spin dynamics are investigated and spin-dependent Rabi oscillations are considered for the case of a flat quantum dot, with the lateral size greater than the height. The following peculiarities of temporal evolution have been found: a) a beating of Rabi oscillations under an elliptically polarized pump and b) quenching of spin orientation due to a spin-orbit splitting effect.
We demonstrate theoretically the noise-stimulated enhancement of quantum coherence in a superconducting flux qubit. First, an external classical noise can increase the off-diagonal components of the qubit density matrix. Second, in the presence of noise, the Rabi oscillations survive for times significantly longer than the Rabi decay time in a noiseless system. These Rabi oscillations appear as a modulation of the forced response of the qubit to the ac driving field. These effects can be considered as a manifestation of quantum stochastic resonance and are relevant to experimental techniques, …
We investigate the relation between the canonical model of quantum optics, the Jaynes-Cummings Hamiltonian and Dirac fermions in quantizing magnetic field. We demonstrate that Rabi oscillations are observable in the optical response of graphene, providing us with a transparent picture about the structure of optical transitions. While the longitudinal conductivity reveals chaotic Rabi oscillations, the Hall component measures coherent ones. This opens up the possibility of investigating a microscopic model of a few quantum objects in a macroscopic experiment with tunable parameters.
We report our demonstration of Rabi oscillations in Si-SiO2-Al photoconductive devices with nanosecond laser pulses of a few nJ at room temperature without external magnetic fields. Zeeman splitting of spin quantum states of dopants in silicon is achieved with internal magnetic fields produced by the Al film under excitation of laser pulses. Rabi oscillation frequency is 15 MHz and 25 MHz when photocurrent direction is perpendicular and parallel, respectively, to the propagation direction of linearly-polarized, 532-nm, 7-ns laser pulses. Insertion of graphene buffer layer between Al and SiO2 p…
Under resonant conditions, a long sequence of landau-zener transitions can lead to Rabi oscillations. Using a nitrogen-vacancy (NV) center spin in diamond, we investigated the interference between more than 100 Landau-Zener processes. We observed the new type of Rabi oscillations of the electron spin resulting from the interference between successive Landau-Zener processes in various regimes, including both slow and fast passages. The combination of the control techniques and the favorable coherent properties of NV centers provides an excellent experimental platform to study a variety of quant…
Nonlinear effects in mesoscopic devices can have both quantum and classical origins. We show that a three-Josephson-junction (3JJ) flux qubit in the _classical_ regime can produce low-frequency oscillations in the presence of an external field in resonance with the (high-frequency) harmonic mode of the system, $ω$. Like in the case of_quantum_ Rabi oscillations, the frequency of these pseudo-Rabi oscillations is much smaller than $ω$ and scales approximately linearly with the amplitude of the external field. This classical effect can be reliably distinguished from its quantum counterpart becau…
Increasing the number of electrons in electrostatically confined quantum dots can enable faster qubit gates. Although this has been experimentally demonstrated, a detailed quantitative understanding has been missing. Here we study one- and three-electron quantum dots in silicon/silicon-germanium heterostructures within the context of electrically-driven spin resonance (EDSR) using full configuration interaction and tight binding approaches. Our calculations show that anharmonicity of the confinement potential plays an important role: while the EDSR Rabi frequency of electrons in a harmonic pot…
The problem of Rabi oscillations in a qubit coupled to a fluctuator and in contact with a heath bath is considered. A scheme is developed for taking into account both phase and energy relaxation in a phenomenological way, while taking full account of the quantum dynamics of the four-level system subject to a driving AC field. Significant suppression of the Rabi oscillations is found when the qubit and fluctuator are close to resonance. The effect of the fluctuator state on the read-out signal is discussed. This effect is shown to modify the observed signal significantly. This may be relevant t…
We study the coherent dynamics of a qubit excited by an amplitude-modulated electromagnetic field under the Rabi resonance when the frequency of the low-frequency modulation field matches the Rabi frequency in the high-frequency field. Due to destructive interference of multiple photon processes at the ultrastrong coupling between the qubit and the low-frequency driving field, Rabi oscillations result exclusively from the Bloch-Siegert effect. It is directly observed in the time-resolved coherent dynamics as the Bloch-Siegert oscillation. In this case, triplets in Fourier spectra of the cohere…
We have observed the coherent exchange of a single energy quantum between a flux qubit and a superconducting LC circuit acting as a quantum harmonic oscillator. The exchange of an energy quantum is known as the vacuum Rabi oscillations: the qubit is oscillating between the excited state and the ground state and the oscillator between the vacuum state and the first excited state. We have also obtained evidence of level quantization of the LC circuit by observing the change in the oscillation frequency when the LC circuit was not initially in the vacuum state.
We show that it is possible to realize quantum superpositions of switched-on and -off strong light-matter interaction in a single quantum dot- semiconductor microcavity system. Such superpositions enable the observation of counterintuitive quantum conditional dynamics effects. Situations are possible where cavity photons as well as the emitter luminescence display exponential decay but their joint detection probability exhibits vacuum Rabi oscillations. Remarkably, these quantum correlations are also present in the nonequilibrium steady state spectra of such coherently driven dissipative quant…
Under resonant irradiation, a quantum system can undergo coherent (Rabi) oscillations in time. We report evidence for such oscillations in a _continuously_ observed three-Josephson-junction flux qubit, coupled to a high-quality tank circuit tuned to the Rabi frequency. In addition to simplicity, this method of_Rabi spectroscopy_ enabled a long coherence time of about 2.5 microseconds, corresponding to an effective qubit quality factor \~7000.
We report on multi-photon Rabi oscillations and controlled tuning of a multi-level system at room temperature (S=5/2 for Mn2+:MgO) in and out of a quasi-harmonic level configuration. The anisotropy is much smaller than the Zeeman splittings, such as the six level scheme shows only a small deviation from an equidistant diagram. This allows us to tune the spin dynamics by either compensating the cubic anisotropy with a precise static field orientation, or by microwave field intensity. Using the rotating frame approximation, the experiments are very well explained by both an analytical model and …
When an atom strongly couples to a cavity, it can undergo coherent vacuum Rabi oscillations. Controlling these oscillatory dynamics quickly relative to the vacuum Rabi frequency enables remarkable capabilities such as Fock state generation and deterministic synthesis of quantum states of light, as demonstrated using microwave frequency devices. At optical frequencies, however, dynamical control of single-atom vacuum Rabi oscillations remains challenging. Here, we demonstrate coherent transfer of optical frequency excitation between a single quantum dot and a cavity by controlling vacuum Rabi o…
We study the dynamic behaviour of a quantum two-level system with periodically varying parameters by solving the master equation for the density matrix. Two limiting cases are considered: multiphoton Rabi oscillations and Landau-Zener transitions. The approach is applied to the description of the dynamics of superconducting qubits. In particular, the case of the interferometer-type charge qubit with periodically varying parameters (gate voltage or magnetic flux) is investigated. The time-averaged energy level populations are calculated as funtions of the qubit's control parameters.
Graphene has been shown to exhibit a nonlinear response due to its unique band structure. In this paper, we study the terahertz (THz) response metallic armchair graphene nanoribbons, specifically current density and Rabi oscillations beyond the semiclassical Boltzman model. We performed quantum mathematical modeling by first finding a solution to the unperturbed Hamiltonian for a single Fermion in the dipole gauge and then applying a polarized, THz electrical field. After writing the solution in terms of the four eigenstates of the Dirac system, we numerically calculated the $x$ and $y$ compon…
Rabi oscillation is a pure quantum phenomenon where the system jumps forth and back between two quantum levels under stimulation of a microwave, and a resonance occurs when the energy difference is matched by the photon energy. Rabi oscillations have been observed in various quantum systems so far, and especially are used to demonstrate the quantum coherence of quantum bits. In the present work, we explore Rabi oscillation in a system accommodating the elusive Majorana bound states (MBSs) under intensive search recently. The proposed setup is constructed by a quantum dot (QD) and a superconduc…
We study counterintuitive dynamics of a two-level system (TLS) interacting with electric field superoscillating in time. We show that a TLS may be excited by an external light pulse whose spectral components are below the absorption line of the TLS. We attribute this unique dynamics to the Rabi oscillations of the TLS in a superoscillating driving field.

Free electron laser-powered pulsed electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) experiments performed at 240 GHz / 8.56 T on the crystalline organic radical BDPA reveal a tip-angle dependent resonant frequency. Frequency shifts as large as 11 MHz (45 ppm) are observed during a single Rabi oscillation. We attribute the frequency shifts to a "dressing" of the nutation by spin-spin interactions. A nonlinear semi-classical model which includes a temperature- and sample-geometry-dependent demagnetizing field reproduces experimental results. Because experiments are performed without a cavity, radiation dam…
Rabi flopping between Bloch bands induced by a weak ac resonant field is a coherent effect involving interband transitions. Here we consider the fundamental processes of emission/absorption of quanta and Rabi oscillations in non-Hermitian two-band lattices exhibiting unbalanced non-Hermitian skin effect, and unveil an unprecedented scenario of Rabi flopping. The effective dipole moment of the transition - usually considered a bulk property - is however strongly dependent on boundary conditions, being greatly enhanced with increased Rabi frequency only when open boundaries are present. As the f…

We present a theoretical study of a quantum regime of the resistive (whirling) state of dc driven anisotropic single plaquette containing three small Josephson junctions. The current-voltage characteristics of such a system display resonant steps that are due to the resonant interaction between the time dependent Josephson current and the excited electromagnetic oscillations (EOs). The voltage positions of the resonances are determined by the quantum interband transitions of EOs. We show that in the quantum regime as the system is driven on the resonance, coherent Rabi oscillations between the…
Optically controlled coherent dynamics of charge (excitonic) degrees of freedom in a semiconductor quantum dot under the influence of lattice dynamics (phonons) is discussed theoretically. We show that the dynamics of the lattice response in the strongly non-linear regime is governed by a semiclassical resonance between the phonon modes and the optically driven dynamics. We stress on the importance of the stability of intermediate states for the truly coherent control.
Magnetic dipolar mode or magnetostatic (MS) oscillations in ferrite samples have the wavelength much smaller than the electromagnetic wavelength at the same frequency and, at the same time, much larger than the exchange interaction spin wavelength. This intermediate position between the electromagnetic and spin wave (exchange interaction) processes reveals very special behaviors of the geometrical effects. It was shown recently that magnetic dipolar mode oscillations in a normally magnetized ferromagnetic disk are characterized by discrete energy levels resulting from the structural confinemen…
We present a superconducting tunnel junction circuit which behaves as a controllable atom, and whose ground and first excited state form an effective spin 1/2. By applying microwave pulses, we have performed on this circuit experiments demonstrating the controlled manipulation of the spin : Rabi precession, Ramsey interferences, and spin echoes.
We present an analytical approach to the problem of the multiphoton absorption and Rabi oscillations in an armchair graphene nanoribbon (AGNR) in the presence of a time-oscillating strong electric field induced by a light wave directed parallel to the ribbon axis. The two-dimensional Dirac equation for the massless electron subject to the ribbon confinement is employed. In the resonant approximation the electron-hole pair production rate, associated with the electron transitions between the valence and conduction size-quantized subbands, the corresponding multiphoton absorption coefficient and…
We infer the high-frequency flux noise spectrum in a superconducting flux qubit by studying the decay of Rabi oscillations under strong driving conditions. The large anharmonicity of the qubit and its strong inductive coupling to a microwave line enabled high-amplitude driving without causing significant additional decoherence. Rabi frequencies up to 1.7 GHz were achieved, approaching the qubit's level splitting of 4.8 GHz, a regime where the rotating-wave approximation breaks down as a model for the driven dynamics. The spectral density of flux noise observed in the wide frequency range decre…
