Photoionization of Ce$^{3+}$ - Ce$^{4+}$

Photoionization of the Ce$^{3+}$ - Ce$^{4+}$ process has been studied using the random phase approximation with exchange method in the energy region 100-150 eV. Comparison of our results with the recent measurement [Müller {\it et al}, Phys. Rev. Lett. {\bf 101}, 133001 (2008)] confirms the suppression effect of the carbon cage in the endohedral fullerene Ce@C$_{82}^+$ photoionization. The reasons for the cause of the confinement resonance and the suppression effect are discussed.

Photoionization Suppression by Continuum Coherence: Experiment and Theory

We present experimental and theoretical results of a detailed study of laser-induced continuum structures (LICS) in the photoionization continuum of helium out of the metastable state 2s $^1S_0$. The continuum dressing with a 1064 nm laser, couples the same region of the continuum to the {4s $^1S_0$} state. The experimental data, presented for a range of intensities, show pronounced ionization suppression (by as much as 70% with respect to the far-from-resonance value) as well as enhancement, in a Beutler-Fano resonance profile. Photoionization of atoms and molecules studied by Crank-Nicolson method

Crank-Nicolson (C-N) Method combined with $ B $-spline basis set can be used in both time-dependent and time-independent calculations of the photoionization cross sections of atoms and molecules. For time-independent systems, it is found that C-N method in imaginary-time propagation (ITP) can converge directly to not only the ground state, but also excited and continuum states by controlling the time step size. Influence of the inner shell electrons on photoionization of outer shells

We have studied the role of virtual excitations of inner shells upon outer shell photoionization. The calculations were performed in the frames of the Random Phase Approximation and its generalized version GRPAE that take into account variation of the atomic field due to electron elimination and the inner vacancies decay. We employ both analytic approximation and numeric computations. The results are presented for 3p electrons in Ar and 4d-electrons in Pd near inner shells thresholds. The effect proved to be noticeable.

Non-dipole effects in angular distributions of secondary electrons in fast particle-atom scattering

We demonstrate that the angular distribution of electrons knocked out from an atom by a fast charge particle is determined not only by dipole but also by quadrupole transitions, the contribution of which can be considerably enhanced as compared to the case of photoionization. To obtain these matrix elements one has to study the angular distribution of electrons emitted by the atom in its collision with a fast charged particle. Attosecond time delay in the photoionization of endohedral atoms A@C$_{60}$: A new probe of confinement resonances

The effects of confinement resonances on photoelectron group delay (Wigner time delay) following ionization of an atom encapsulated inside a C$_{60}$ cage have been studied theoretically using both relativistic and non-relativistic random phase approximations. The results indicate clearly the resonant character of the confinement oscillations in time delay of the $4d$ shell of Xe@C$_{60}$ and present a most direct manifestation of Wigner time delay. These oscillations were missed in a previous theoretical investigation of Ar@C$_{60}$ [PRL 111, 203003 (2013)]

Random phase approximation with exchange for the photoionization of confined atoms: Xe in C_{60} fullerene

Photoionization of a Xe atom confined inside C$_{60}$ has been studied using the random phase approximation with exchange (RPAE) method. Photoionization of multishell fullerenes studied by ab initio and model approaches

Photoionization of two buckyonions, C$_{60}$@C$_{240}$ and C$_{20}$@C$_{60}$, is investigated by means of time-dependent density-functional theory (TDDFT). Relativistic photoionization of H isoelectronic series including plasma shielding effects

With plasma shielding effects of the Debye-Hückel model, we investigate the relativistic photoionization processes of H, Nb$^{40+}$ and Pb$^{81+}$ plasmas in the H-isoelectronic series. Confinement and electron correlation effects in photoionization of atoms in endohedral anions: Ne@C60^{z-}

Trends in resonances, termed confinement resonances, in photoionization of atoms A in endohedral fullerene anions A@C60^{z-} are theoretically studied and exemplified by the photoionization of Ne in Ne@C{60}^{z-}. Cooper minima in the transitions from low-excited and Rydberg states of alkali-metal atoms

The structure of the Cooper minima in the transition probabilities and photoionization cross-sections for low-excited and Rydberg nS, nP, nD and nF states of alkali-metal atoms has been studied using a Coulomb approximation and a quasiclassical model. The range of applicability of the quasiclassical model has been defined from comparison with available experimental and theoretical data on dipole moments, oscillator strengths, and photoionization cross-sections.
