We exhibit an infinite family of {\it triplets} of mutually unbiased bases (MUBs) in dimension 6. These triplets involve the Fourier family of Hadamard matrices, $F(a,b)$. However, in the main result of the paper we also prove that for any values of the parameters $(a,b)$, the standard basis and $F(a,b)$ {\it cannot be extended to a MUB-quartet}. The main novelty lies in the {\it method} of proof which may successfully be applied in the future to prove that the maximal number of MUBs in dimension 6 is three.

Unextendible Mutually Unbiased Bases from Pauli Classes

We provide a construction of sets of (d/2+1) mutually unbiased bases (MUBs) in dimensions d=4,8 using maximal commuting classes of Pauli operators. We show that these incomplete sets cannot be extended further using the operators of the Pauli group. However, specific examples of sets of MUBs obtained using our construction are shown to be strongly unextendible; that is, there does not exist another vector that is unbiased with respect to the elements in the set. Mubs and Hadamards of Order Six

We report on a search for mutually unbiased bases (MUBs) in 6 dimensions. We find only triplets of MUBs, and thus do not come close to the theoretical upper bound 7. However, we point out that the natural habitat for sets of MUBs is the set of all complex Hadamard matrices of the given order, and we introduce a natural notion of distance between bases in Hilbert space. Bipartite entangled stabilizer mutually unbiased bases as maximum cliques of Cayley graphs

We examine the existence and structure of particular sets of mutually unbiased bases (MUBs) in bipartite qudit systems. In contrast to well-known power-of-prime MUB constructions, we restrict ourselves to using maximally entangled stabilizer states as MUB vectors. Complete sets of cyclic mutually unbiased bases in even prime power dimensions

We present a construction method for complete sets of cyclic mutually unbiased bases (MUBs) in Hilbert spaces of even prime power dimensions. Unextendible mutually unbiased bases in prime-squared dimensions
